I can't wait till this war is over. Can anyone tell me what chapter goes to next episode? I can't remember which chapter went to the next episode.
-
The one that goes after the one that this episode went with…..:ninja:
-
Case in point, The Strawhats had a goal of rescuing Robin, in the same sort of way and once they made it to Enies Lobby and started picking their opponents, they stuck with them until it was finished. Same with the Alabaster arc and Skypeia. I don't really mind so much if the fights start late, but why can't they stick with one opponent? I think I'm most upset about being teased into thinking a fight is going to start, when it doesn't
You're comparing one event with 7-8 people on a side and very spread out with another that has 100,000 people on a side and tightly packed together. An extended 1v1 fight would be pretty disappointing and out of place to me. There's no reason for anyone to hesitate to help out wherever they can, so for two people to successfully isolate themselves from the rest seems like a real stretch.
Most mangas/animes would still pair off opponents for extended fights for a war like this, but I for one view that as a fault, and I'm glad that it's not the case here. I do, however, feel bad for you that you're allowing your expectations to ruin the war for you. Your situation sounds like what I went through with Skypeia. When I first watched through the arc, I was disappointed that it wasn't unfolding the way I wanted it to, but when I watched it again and took it for what it was rather than what it wasn't, I loved it. Now it's one of my favorites. Hopefully the same thing will happen for you with this arc.
EDIT:
Also, guys, quit it with the countdown stuff please. It's too spoiler friendly. -

Why do you need to know? Ugh. FINE. Have it your own damned vey, I'll tell you.. its..
-
Hmm… well I can say I honestly didn't care much for this episode either, just like the last one.
If I may ask... what are you guys seeing in these episodes that I'm not? What bugs me is that fights keep starting up, and then they don't finish. I'm not sure if one major fight has been completed this entire war. Like 3 months of episodes and no one's been defeated other than Oars Jr. Kizaru must have fought about 5 different major characters by now. It's like I'm constantly getting blue balls each week from being teased with fights, but nothing coming of them, and I don't know about you guys but I'm not particularly entertained by it.
When these chapters came out in the Manga many people had the same complaint. However, if you really think about it, this is a war. Not a Bleach war where everyone finds an enemy to pair up with and they fight it out. This is chaos and the goal is not to beat the Marines but to get to Ace and free him. If you think about it that way it makes sense and actually makes you appreciate the realistic and original way Oda drew this war.
-
I'm sure if you read the entire war in one sitting, it doesn't seem as rushed/tedious.
-
When you think about it, it isn't realistic. The Marines would have just killed Ace right there.
The Government wouldn't just watch tons of people die trying to save 1 person, when they could just kill them right there. -

The only reason they didn't kill him outright, is because they knew killing him would allow Whitebeard to sink the Island without hesitation
The idea of the war was to draw him in and kill him, removing him as a threat
Hence the betrayal of Squadro to weaken him
By keeping the threat of killing Ace alive they managed to ensure that he didnt unleash nonstop tidal waves on the island and just create havoc which he couldnt do because Ace was there -
I think that the war arc in Bleach has been better than the One Piece arc for that very reason. IMO of course.
Don't get me wrong though, I do Like One Piece's mantra of "Slower pace, less filler". But that aside, I just want to see a real battle, it's been three months. Let's see some fighting.
Edit: Just because I can't let it go without being said, I do think One Piece is the better anime of course….
No offense here, but how can you think that the Bleach war was better at all
It was terrible
Nonstop fighting with throwaway villains who could've been replaced with cardboard and noone would've noticed
Constant monologuing between fighters that made no sense and contributed nothing at all to the plot
It was just so slow
The anime is better because it lumped all the chapters together making the pacing of the fights better, but even then its painfulRandom powerups that make no sense
None of the captains going bankai except for a select few, for some stupid reason known only to themselves, even though they faced an opponent that managed to one shot every single one of them in five seconds
and the finale, don't even get me started on that nonsenseI could keep going, but jesus the Bleach war was handled so utterly bad, that any redeeming features it might have are outweighed by long list of negatives
-
I'd believe that if they didn't try to kill Ace twice before they even got anywhere near killing Whitebeard.
They didn't kill Ace right away because… well... we wouldn't have an arc afterwards. ^_^;

Lol very true
I'm assuming the only logic you could apply to it honestly is that they were trying to make the pirates rush and make mistakes, outside of Oda needing to keep him alive for the climax lol -

Now I'll be the first to admit that Bleach is full of plot holes and crap that doesn't make sense. The Bleach "war" wasn't so much of a war as it was a battle to the death between two sides, so their isolated fighting made more sense. But there WAS fighting, and despite the fact that the villains aren't given any reason to care about them, they at least made things entertaining.
I understand the One Piece approach is more realistic, my problem is that it's been three months and the transitional phase of the battle needs to come to an end very soon. I'm more upset that there are two problems "Battles aren't ending" and "People are switching opponents", which I could deal with separately if there were only one of these things happening. I feel like the problem is in the three months, there has been over 4-5 hours of total anime time and only one major character has been defeated which I don't think is that realistic. The sun should be setting on the war at this point which makes me think that things are being drawn out a bit too much.

Then your in luck my friend, because the climax is coming very soon, in fact next episode from the previews shown, you'll be getting your wish of fights being concluded
Honestly I'd read the manga, Toei really messed this arc and Impel down up incredibly with horrendous pacing
I can't really blame them because the show is close to the manga, but they could have found ways to make the pacing interesting, by focusing on the offscreen fights that were never shown -
shitty episode.. AGAIN.. ugh.. this arc so far have been a giant gear 3 facepalm .. fuck you toei..
-
This episode just dragged on and on. I don't enjoy watching Kizaru standing over Luffy for like a full two minutes…
-
So the dalmatian Vice Admiral's name is revealed in the credits of this episode, huh. That's good.
-
I'd believe that if they didn't try to kill Ace twice before they even got anywhere near killing Whitebeard.
The whitebeards and their allies, were trapped in the bay, and even Newgate's power couldn't pass the wall. So at that time, they could have killed Ace, without risking to see Whitebeard destroying the Oris Plaza.
-
Very nicely done episode. I really like the added filler of showing of the Commanders and New World Captians entering the battlefield that didn't have much time in the manga. Since it something really nicely that the anime added into the arc.
-
FINALLY some people are starting to make SENSE!
I hope everything's clear now so we don't get anymore dumb complains that make no sense at all… -

what the hell, kizaru?
"I don't think I taste good"
…..............what?
-
I guess he was giving a warning to anyone that wanted to eat him.
Light doesn't taste good. -
I guess he was giving a warning to anyone that wanted to eat him.
Light doesn't taste good.that explanation doesn't do anything at all to make his line even close to relevant or on topic for the fight.

Did you miss the chain chomp that tried to take a bite out of him?

yes i did.
omg was that even in the manga?!?
-
I don't recall seeing that. I watched it via fansubs.
Those sites are usually choppy on my PC, skipping many frames.
I prefer Hulu because it actually runs really good. -

I prefer Hulu because it actually runs really good.funimation's video player has always been pretty good for me…and yeah, that guy is holding a frickin' chain chomp with teeth and a face...that had better be a devil fruit power...not some weird pappagu thing going on.

Yes, that division commander uses a chain chomp as a weapon. That scene is taken straight from the manga.

wow. cannot believe i missed that!!!!! I guess I just thought it might've been kizaru's light spraying everywhere.

You have gotta be kiddin me. Bleach's war was unrealistic. It was as 1 sided as you could possibly get
! Until Aizen decided to step in and pwn everyone
This was a far more accurate portrayal of war. Both sides suffered huge losses, the action was fast paced and non-stop, fights were continously interupted for w.e reason. This war has been awesome.
-
the animation was way too good to dislike this episode. i really loved how it looked from the short momonga vs luffy scene and onwards.
-
Moria'sAkainu's part was awesome.
And the animation was great, but the episode itself didn't helped until later, so it's a fine episode. -

Wars can't be one-sided?
But like I said, call it a war or not. It was more entertaining for me. Like I said, about 4 or 5 hours of anime time has passed. Luffy has been there for perhaps 3 hours. So even if he's running 1 mile per hour, he should have made it about 3 miles if he ran non stop towards Ace. But let's be generous and say 1 of those hours belongs to flashback, 1 of those hours are devoted to other fighters, and half an hour devoted to Luffy fighting. He still has had 30 minutes of running, and at one mile an hour, he should have made it about half a mile now, He can probably run about 15 miles an hour, so he should have gone about 7 miles. That's all I'm saying, let's get the running part of this arc over with already.
-
Most people can run a mile in 6-8 minutes. It takes me around 7 minutes a mile.
This is Luffy though. He is a super human, super Stretchy, running to save his brother's life kind of guy. He should be doing a mile in 4 minutes. -

This is Luffy though. He is a super human, super Stretchy, running to save his brother's life kind of guy. He should be doing a mile in 4 minutes.Precisely. I'll give him a break because he's exhausted from Impel down, and is constantly getting cut off by people. But if you look at the size of Oz, and how long it took him to get to Ace (a few seconds). You'd probably guess that Marineford is somewhere between half a mile to 3/4 of a mile from Bay to Scaffold. So Luffy probably should have gotten there fairly quick. He only fought with Moria and the Giant for about a minute, Mihawk for about two minutes, Smoker for maybe…. two minutes, and the Admirals for probably two minutes combined. So really around 10-15 minutes of actual fighting, 10 minutes of escaping Akainu's assault. Let's call that 30 minutes, if Luffy has been there for MAYBE an hour, that should have given him 30 minutes to run half a mile uninterrupted. If Luffy has been there for less than an hour, then the action has to pick up the pace.

Yes. Luffy's going to run pass a million billion marines, the Shichibukai, and Admirals uninterrupted for 30 mins
-
Do remember that every time luffy got closer to the scaffold, kizaru would kick him in the face at lightspeed. Luffy flies all the way back to the bay.

Oars is a giant, a huge one even for giants
Only reason why he made to the plaza so quick
Plus Kizaru also kicked Luffy back, he was stopped by Mihawk, stuck fighting fodder
Plus the battle kinda stopped for him when Squadro stabbed Whitebeard as alot of the combatants were watching why he was stabbed etc
Along with other factors -
This was a great episode. Very pleased with it. Aokiji looked pretty fierce.
-
yes i did.
omg was that even in the manga?!?
The scene: Yes, sort of. Rakuyô attacked Kizaru facing him, not from his back.
The dialogue: No, not at all. -
Yes. Luffy's going to run pass a million billion marines, the Shichibukai, and Admirals uninterrupted for 30 mins
You should probably read my past posts. Luffy's been on screen for a few hours, he's been shown on screen running for at least 30 minutes. He should have made it by now.

-
Marineford's bigger than you think.
Plus all the "go back three spaces" he's been getting from the marines.
-
Didn't Kizaru knock him back like three times ?
-
Wars can't be one-sided?
! How does it make sense that every single arrancar got beaten, every Espada was defeated without a single victory themselves? Minus Wonderweiss against Kensei & white haired guy, and i suppose you can count Stark ownin the 2 Vizards.
It was stupid. But like I said, call it a war or not. It was more entertaining for me. Like I said, about 4 or 5 hours of anime time has passed. Luffy has been there for perhaps 3 hours. Speed and time are irrelevant. WB alliance pushed forward and then got forced back. Most the battles were takin place on the Ice itself.
Luffy was pushed back many times. He made it far, Kizaru sent him flyin back to the start…he had to fight his way through countless Marines...he almosts makes it to the Plaza...seige wall rises he falls back..and gets forced back even further when the magma storm from the sky melted the Ice. Thats not forgettin the fact that he almost fell into the sea when Whitebeard tilted the entire Island before he KO'ed John Giant..and then Luffy did fall into the sea....Jimbei saved him twice. -
You should probably read my past posts. Luffy's been on screen for a few hours, he's been shown on screen running for at least 30 minutes. He should have made it by now.
A few hours? What?
Your posts make absolutely no sense. -
Are you really making an argument about time in this anime?
Didn't Chopper's Rumble Ball last like three episodes against Kumadori?
