For example Gomu Gomu No Pistol -> (gear 2nd)Jet Pistol -> (Colour of Armaments)Armoured Pistol
Or do you think it will be just a background power ?
Hello guys. I'm a new listener but I must say I really like this podcast and I'm glad you guys find the time to do this twice a week. I like the podcast so much that the only reason I created this account was to ask piece together questions lol
Question 1: Now forgive me if you;ve already done this segment or answered this question but, what are the "Top 5 Fights you want to see and/or wish would happen in One Piece?!"
Mine are as follows.
Zoro vs Kuma(Rematch): Now most would say this'd be a better match up for Luffy but I think Zoro has just as much a bone to pick with Kuma if not more so than Luffy. These two have had 2 serious encounters, both when Kuma still had his mind(granted, i still don't think he's lost it anyway). Plus, how often does Zoro have a serious outright one on one fight with someone who isn't a swordsman? Overall, this could turn out to be a really epic fight if it were to happen.
New SUPER Franky vs New Luffy: Now, this fight would just be well…for lack of a better word...SUPER!!! With all of Franky's upgrades and Luffy's new abilities this could be somethign incredible to see. Sure Luffy would probably win but the fight would be good regardless, granted it probably won't happen.
Eustass Kidd vs Basil hawkins: These are two characters with two devil fruit powers that I'd just love to see more of, and a fight between them would be phenomenal.
Zoro vs Luffy(Serious Rematch): Just a serious to-incapacitation fight between these two would be great.
Sanj or Luffy vs Doflamingo: Depending on Doflamingo's abilities, either of these could be great. He's pretty much bound to be a villain for the Straw Hats sooner or later, and for some reason in my head that I can't explain, Sanji seems like he'd be a good opponent for Doflamingo. North Blue pride? Idk :P
Honorable mention- Sanji vs Kizaru: If Sanji ever got strong enough to fight on par with Kizaru and this fight were to happen, it'd be Maji and PHENOMENAWESOME! The Kick Master of the Straw Hat crew going up against the world's strongest and fastest kick? Tell me this wouldn't be one heck of a brawl.
Question 2: We know how prates get into the New World but how do they get out? I believe it was said and shown that once a coated ship leaves Shabondy and resurfaces anywhere else, the coating dissapears. If this happens, once the Straw Hats enter the New World and the coating is gone, how would they or any pirate for that matter go under water and/or get back into "Paradise"? Their must be some way, otherwise, the pirates that Kidd grusomely crucified wouldn't have been trying to get back to "Paradise", nor would WHITEBEARD and his allies have been able to get to Mazrine HQ which is in the first half of the Grand Line. However, the only way I could think of is Mariejoa, and even if a pirate found a way to get over 10,000 meters in the air, no pirate in their right mind would storm into Mariejoa without a game plan. How do you think Pirates get back into "Paradise"?
I'm going to feel really stupid if the way to leave the New World has already been stated :P

I have a theory about Wet haired Karibou. I would be very suprised that some one as insane as him came out of nowhere without a big backstory. My idea that he and his brother were escapies from Impel Down and they have a huge resentment for Marines. This is encoraged by two things, firstly that he burys the marine alive showing a huge relation to torture and all his followers are in full body cloaks a lot like the workers at Impel Down. Sorry if it is shown in the next manga but this was writen before. Cya later, keep up the good work
You guys were asking how people were feeling toward how the Anime was handling the Marineford arc so here are my thoughts about not only that but the Anime in general:
When it comes down to it, reading the Manga ruins the Anime. Like most American fans I got into One Piece by marathoning through 100s of One Piece episodes to get caught up and I have caught myself thinking: Wow the Anime has not been up to par latley…Only later did I realize that the Anime stopped being "good" for me when I picked up the Manga. Knowing what happens takes away half of the appeal of watching the Anime. Lets say that One Piece was originally an Anime that was later converted into a Manga. The same situation would happen "Oh, that chapter wasn't as good as the original Anime episode was" or "That scene was better in the Anime"
Okay bad analogy, but you get what I mean. If you really look back to when you consider the Anime was at its best, you might see that it was right before you picked up on the Manga. Watching the Anime knowing whats going to happen just leaves you to over-examine the episode because the content doesn't matter, you have seen it before
Keeping that in mind I have really enjoyed the Marinefored arc. Impel Down was, at times, painful to watch but Toei has really done good so far with this arc. Considering the short chapters, the episodes didn't drag out too much with annoying filler, rather making use of implied filler that has been really good so far. 8.5/10

So I've been listening to you guys and it seems like you are disappointed with the anime more and more, which got me thinking…
I watched the anime first and loved every second of it until I got caught up around merry's death. Then I hit the manga and love every chapter that comes out, however now I go and see the new anime episodes and I'm not as thrilled because I know what is to come.
With you guys, how much of your enjoyment is taken out of the anime when you know what is going to happen and go into the episode with expectations because of what you read in the manga?
And on a completely unrelated note, this must be shared, the new Tactics 15!
Hey I got an idea for Brookes power up. A better version of Jangos hypnotism (put people to sleep, Psych people up etc).
WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY back in chapter 94, didn't Usopp say that Zoro's wound would take 2 years to recover? Do you think that two year figure might have been Oda's intention for a timeskip? Also, I suppose after all the beatings Zoro has taken (even those not covered because of the timeskip) would've delayed the healing of the wound. Did any of you realize this about the line from Usopp though?
I just felt I should point out some details from the chapter:
Brook has shown that he can influence people to do his bidding with music. This kind of enforces his satanic image don't you think? And like how people in the 50's worried that rock music would turn children violent?
Luffy only turned one arm into gear second. Presumably so he can live longer. Perhaps this is a bonus of haki, being able to pump blood WITH THE POWER OF HIS MIND
Luffy dodged a laser and called it slow. A laser. At the speed of light. O_o
Sentoumaru was this episodes star. He used his axe for the first time as well! I was beginning to think it was an Usopp style fake axe… I think this situation requires epic Sentoumaru impression :P
Also, Strips by Steve is epic. Is there a specific day of the week you intend to publish, or will it be on a "Whenever I get the time" basis?

Hello Zack and company, I have one manga-related question for you this week.
! When Sentoumaru bashed Demalo Black on the head, was it satisfying or do you believe that Demalo and his fake-crew deserve even more beatings for impersonating the Straw-Hats? I also wanted to point out that Demalo's expression reminded me of those dolls that have their eyes bulge out when you squeeze them from one end.
My second not!question is: in the anime, episode 471, did you notice that Sentoumaru's denden-mushi has the same hairstyle as him? He must've personalized it like a cell-phone/Ipod.
I'm sorry for asking this right after your podcast and i only just discovered that i should have been asking this on the AP forums from the start as opposed to facebook and i know that you wont be able to answer this until your next manga episode.

So I was listening to the episode and noticed you all got a little confused with Oda's mistake coloring Zoro's swords. It made me think a bit at first too, but looking at the hand guards, it's obvious that the sword in his mouth is still Wado Ichimonji. What's more interesting to me is how he's holding Kitetsu. He's holding like Doma and Strawberry hold their swords. I'm curious as to whether that's specific to the attack he used or a change of his.
One last thing. Youg guys mentioned that he seems to have switched the sword he uses when using only one from Wado Ichimonji to Shuusui. My theory on this is slightly different: It will depend on what he needs to do. So for when he needs extreme power (i.e. cutting a ship in half), Shuusui is required, but if he needs speed or balance, he'll use his one of his other swords.
There was one main thing i noticed about Luffys attack to PX-5. Before he hit him with the Jet haki pistol, he was above him AND PX-5 was still aiming forwards. But he did this without turning his whole body into gear second (Only his arm was steaming). So my question is, do you think (like I do) that Luffy can now use Soru without using Gear second. Which would imply that a full gear second, will make him go extremely fast. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.
Sorry this isn't really a question, but in chapter 1, page 5 panel 2, I just noticed there's a monkey in the background. then later in chapter 580 page 9, there's a monkey again, but it looks totally different. I just thought it was funny that Oda has a monkey as part of the Red-hair Pirates, that's all. :P (I bet I'm the only one who never noticed this until now)

So far One Piece games have been rather dissapointing in comparaison to the Naruto games on the PS3 or Xbox360. They have never been able to live up to the epicness to the manga.

Do you think the anime will do one more Filler saga after the war and Luffy's backstory arc or will they just go straight into the whole 2 year after arc we're currently in?
Examples-
Naruto, did a whole lot of what if filler episodes between it's timeskip (too many infact) and Bleach even does what if filler arcs in the middle of it's main arcs. Hell, even Dragonball made filler non-canon adventures for Goku between his years of unseen training, so it's not too far fetch to see another what if Straw hats were together filler (They done it before with the "Little East Blue" movie 10 filler).
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I live in Ottawa Ontario Canada so I was able to catch the Strong World Screenings that were part of the animation festival.
The crowd was a nice mixture of fans and people who were experiencing One Piece for the first time.
The version we watched had some interesting translations in the subtitles
Shiki called Nami "Baby Face" (BTW the audience seemed to get a kick out of it every time.) Sanji referred to Nami as "Nami Darling" and Robin as "Robin Lovely."
Some of the attack names were changed as well "Diablo Jump" as opposed to Diable Jamble.
But I think the most jarring translation came from Garp at the beginning. he essentially states that Shiki was defeated and captured by Roger.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that tanslation was just wrong… Unless he's implying that at some point Roger was Shichibukai or something I dunno.
Now the reactions from the audience were mostly positive. But the whole Shiki/Indigo/Gorrilla comedy team stuff went over their heads. Some people let out groans after a few scenes with Indigo's farting shoes.
I must say that it was wonderful to have the experience to watch One Piece with as large a group as that and I hope this leads to a surge of Canadian support for One Piece.
Despite Funimation's obvious hatred of the Canadian Market with the simulcast. STUPID HULU! lol. I kid of course but it still irks me that we only get the new episodes for three days.

I doubt it. Moria, Hannyabal and Magellan probably come from the same race since they all have horns and are probably the opposite of the skypians, and come from the underground. I doubt they're snakenecks though.

Next question : Why do you think Oda take so much precaution to hide Shanks face during chapter 434 (when he tries to recruit Buggy) and 2 times during chapter 0 ( when Shanks cries for Roger's death and when he recuits Yasopp) ?
It just happens too many times for being a coincidence. IMO, it forshadows an epic flashback in a whole volume of Shanks past (another best seller). I think we will see how he is deeply connected to every single straw hats and how he got the scar. From his first encounter with Roger to his first encounter with Luffy.

So I was wondering; since we saw that at least Luffy and Zoro's bounties has been hiked up, the Marines must have printed new wanted posters. This got me thinking: Will the Marines finally have a picture of Sanji? We know the Pacifistas have visual, so why not the ability to take photographs, too?
I believe the image gag can still continue though, because the pic will be of the Sanji we saw two years ago and is therefore a different face.

On the page with brook ariving on the ship, if anyone still has any doubts about brookes size, he is next to franky in the second panel and is AS tall as him while sitting down. Also, On the next page, look how high brook is in the air. I would say that not only has his musical talent improved but his abilitys as a lightweight skeleton. Can you guys think of anything he could do with this? This would be very useful with fighting mermen. Thanks and have fun.

Hey guys, I have a question for you all to ponder totally unrelated to the latest chapter.
Aces tattoo. We all, I'm sure, believe the crossed out S will be a reference to Sabo, However I think the C with a dot in the middle was also a reference to Luffy. kind of like a picture of the straw-hat from above.
To actually talk about the chapter though it seems to me brook is much taller and will probably be kind of like an RPG "status effect" fighter.
Causing things such as - sleep, confusion/ disorientation, berserk, fear, maybe temporary deafness on enemys as he fights, your thoughts?
P.s. looking at luffys small training flashback it does seem to show his scar almost confirming it was gained at the war i think

This is just a thought, but its something you all might be able to maybe do if you're making a podcast and its unbelievably short (impossible, I know). Why not anime recap an episode already released and dubbed by FUNimation? You might've already done this before, I'm not sure, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on episodes as early as East Blue.
Question about going to Fishman Island:
I think it will might be explained in the course of the story but i am concerned about the Log Port. I think it has been more than 3 yeats ago that the Log Port started pointing towords Fishman Island when the strawhats were at Water7. Obviously Thriller Bark wasn't an island and Shabondy wasn't effecting the port eather, but really? 2 Years on Waetheria and the way down to Shabondy the logport never changed locations?? How u think about that?

Who do you want to see from the past in the new world?
You guys, mostly Jason, has been critical on the Anime's pacing lately but I really have to disagree. The Anime is going as fast as possible without having to deal with annoyingly long filler arcs, I would take a 1 chapter per episode pace over what Naruto and Bleach has to deal with anyday..
The Anime will never go as fast as the Manga, they are trying to fit 16 and 17 page chapters into 22 minutes and so far they are doing a damn good job. While we have the occasion stills, pans, and prolonged reaction faces that is a little price to pay for the other 95% of the episode which is paced well. The use of implied filler has been excellent so far and each episode has been better than the last. I think that people (you know who you are) need to stop judging the Anime so harshly, its not the Manga and never will be, take it for what it is and enjoy it.
If Toei decides to make a new One Piece series after the time skip, do you think it can help it get on American television like what Dragon Ball Z did for the Dragon Ball series and how Naruto Shippuden continued on a different net work than the original Naruto
Out-of-the-blue-question#1: Commander of the 12th division Whitebeard Pirates: Haruta. Boy or girl? I'm leaning towards Haruta being a boy, since Whitebeard has never mentioned 'daughters', only 'sons'. What do you guys think?
Question#2: In episode 473, the scene where a random marine fell off the wall when Whitebeard 'flipped' the entire island reminded me of that scene in Titanic, where a random guy was falling off the ship in a similar fashion as it was sinking. Has there been scenes in the anime where it reminded you of another anime/movie scene before? For example, Magellan's poison-demon that was similar to the monster in Nausicaa.
How come this guy isn't dead? He was lit on fire by magma wasn't he??

2. In response to a piece the tweet in the last episode about Zoro being a reference to Masamune Date...Masamune Date is the lead character in Sengoku Basara, and as you guys pointed out in an earlier episode, the voice actor who plays him is Kazuya Nakai, the voice of Zoro.

Do you suppose Roger gave the hat to Shanks in a similar way that Shanks gave it to Luffy?
Also are you all happy about the straw hat's origins being with Roger? I think it adds more solidarity and backing behind everyone's claims that 'luffy gives me the same vibe as roger did'
