I'm not going to go into a huge detailed explanation with examples, but what I'm saying is Oda doesn't write in a way that the 400,000,000 bounty is false. There would have been some sort of clue, subtle or not, that the Fake luffy was lying, or had his information mixed up. Either in the way he said it or some other circumstance. He doesn't just insert random information like that and just have lying characters spread false information like that unless it's specifically serving a purpose. Like any other writer does. Once you've taken some writing classes, it makes much more sense.

I'm willing to bet Luffy's new bounty is 400,000,000.

I never thought Luffy would get a large increase in his bounty post TS, some, but not much. Because honestly, how much worse than - causing the destruction of a WG base/island and declaring war on the WG - can you get?

If he did something equal to the actions he did between 30 and 300 mill, it isn't going to increase that much. Probably wouldn't change at all.

I find it ironic that you talk down to people yet put out such an incorrect assessment about bounties. Bounties are not based on peoples actions, cumulative or average but their threat to the world government. If luffy were to do something like break into impel down or visit marineford again his bounty would increase by more than 100 mill due his large threat to the world government and the marines, don't forget everything he's done before we've seen his last bounty increase, he beat Moria (they'd still increase his bounty due to this even though they'd keep it a secret), punched out a world nobal, broke into impel down and is blamed as one of only two people to cause the mass break out which resulted in many level 6 prisioners escaping and then joined in the war. These actions are about as bad as starting a war by yourself against one of the three main establishments of the marines and you want to say that even after so many actions that are directly detrimental to the WG there'll be little to no increase on his bounty?

Probably Luffy's bounty is 400 000 000 but the marines thought he was dead so this bounty increase probably happened before the war because after it he disappeared. That is why they haven't bothered increasing his bounty more. The only thing I think that bounty represents at this point is punching a tenryubito. Now that he has returned, my guess is that the marines will increase his bounty quite substantially to show his thread lvl which is astronomically high at this point.

But they didn't have confirmation of his death. Why not raise it and excite people to look for him harder to get the bounty? If they found him, they win. If they don't, it's not like they're losing anything.

Tenryuubito are descendants of the Kings that formed the World Government. You don't become one, you are born as a Tenryuubito.

I think the reason Luffy's bounty is 400,000,000B is because the WG may think that he is dead, and that there is no confirmation of his whereabouts for 2 years.

I admit, still, I am surprised that his bounty is only 400MB. I hope we get an explanation.

I was surprised that Luffy's bounty was 400,000,000B, I was expecting it to be, an increase, higher than 100,000,000B.
I think it could be because the WG and everyone else thought that the SH crew were dead; the SH crew had disappeared for 2 years.
I think to the WG "threat level" means current threat level not future threat level.

Because if he were lying, the bystanders would have to know about it, as a bounty raise for someone as notorious as Luffy would be widely known by now through the use of a nifty little piece of paper called a bounty poster, especially when it's been 2 years.
Besides, the regular people on the streets weren't suspicious or surprised at all when the bounty was mentioned, yet they believe he's the real deal. Therefore, he isn't lying.

The way I understood it, when the fake luffy said his bounty was in 400 mil+ range. Not necessarily 400 mil exact.

Brook's bounty will increase for sure after his last live concert. Maybe Franky's, since he has done a lot of disasters in Karakuri. The others were in place where there weren't marines, so, if they're bounties don't increase, it makes sense.

Luffy's went up largely because he invaded Impel Down and fought at Marineford. Sanji and Zoro weren't around for that. Their bounties might have gone up just for being involved in the tenryubito incident, but they didn't actually attack the nobles.

And that's only worth another 100million? Stingey WG is stingey. Totaling that up i'd estimate it should've been worth atleast 550/600million

His bounty kept going up because he kept doing crazy things. This time he did crazy things, but it was actually in the same vein as his previous crazy things. 300 million was because he was outrageous enough to declare war on the WG, after that ID and Marineford are really just extensions of that previous act. For all we know the 100 million increase was just for knocking out a noble. Pretty sure that is a whole other level of crazy beyond pissing off the WG.

I don't necessarily think their bounties will go up just because Sentomaru saw them not suck. My thoughts are that Sentomaru reports back what happens, but whoever controls bounties holds back until they have a better idea what they can do. Something happens on FI, they learn their capabilities, bounties go up.

Zoro's new bounty should be around 200 and 240 million.

Sanji's must be always a little lower than Zoro's (with the bad drawing as always).

I think those numbers are good, but considering they only raised Luffy's by 100 million. I doubt they are going to give Zoro and Sanji such a big jump.

I agree Oda's leaving room for it to rise, but I think you're wrong about it not 'adding up' with each new thing Luffy does. The thing is, with each new thing it should add up because each new thing shows the world just how much of a significant threat Luffy is. Like the fact he was at Marineford trying to save Ace should've made them think holy crap he's a total fucking lunatic!!

Now, I'm very familiar with reverse psychology, so it might end up coming true if I go against it.

Edit: And for those who find Luffy's bounty too low, think about it. Just because the Tenryuubito can toss half a billion out like pocket change doesn't mean that their money is shared with the government. We have no idea what the macroeconomic status of the world of One Piece is, but if there's such a corrupt government and the existence of a revolutionary army, I would suspect that it isn't doing so well. Stingy? Of course. It's the government.
