Don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure it said somewhere that Jiraya was dead too long to be revived….
I won't quote you.
(lol)
But yeah that never happened.

It was never explicitly said that Jiraiya was gone for good, not even any witnesses at the scene of his actual death moment. (The frogs have a blood pact scroll that states when someone has died, but its never been pointed to.. though the frogs have been talking in private, eventually, so I GUESS they'd know) Hell, there hasn't even been a funeral and Naruto never really had a proper scene of mourning about it. He had a pretty good death scene, but then, so did Choji. I fully expect the "no body=no death" clause in comics to apply. He'll show back up, one way or another.
It'll be annoying if his last appearance in the series was goofy frog suit mode. Which is only slightly worse than big nosed bum with running mascara and argumentive frogs on shoulders look.
The fact kishimoto hasn't written his death in stone yet makes me think that either he's being saved for something grander, or that he's being left open for use if the need arises.
coughSABOcough
I wonder how Jiraiya could be of use at this stage in time?
Kishimoto sure has still the door open to bring back an awesome chara ,but this would suck so much that it would be typical.
One of the best things, story and drama wise, would be for Jiraiya to be the sixth zombie Kabuto made.
I mean, that same card was already played when the Third fought Orochimaru, but… it would be interesting drama for Naruto to have to fight a totally unrestrained Jiraiya.
Or he can just show up at the end for a happier more marketable party ending, ala Pell.

^Katanagatari, I think. It's by Nishio Isshin, so be warned.

The fight would be good, but logically speaking it wouldn't make sense as the last corpse Kabuto revealed was an obvious threat to Madara.
The chances are its either the sage of the seven paths or perhaps even Naruto's father.

So like as if I was reading a light novel, right?
The sixth zombie is clearly Sabo.

Thats off topic, but its KatanaGatari. Anime is currently running, based of the light novels. One episode a month for twelve months, (each ep is 45 minutes) its on the 8th or 9th episode now, but I'm not totally caught up. It's a swordfighting series, plays against expectations quite a bit. Very colorful.

Nope. Logically its not all that sound. But emotionally and dramatically… probably better than whatever is in there.
That idea would be too original and unpredictable for Kishi, no he will keep it with the obvious and have a very anti-climatic reveal that the corpse is Minato…
Well, we know Orochimaru had access to the fourth, he was going to use it when he was fighting the third, but that was sealed just in time. So… it could be.
Naruto fighting his father could also be interesting.
But yeah. Speculating is kind of hard when there are literally zero clues as to what was behind door number 6 beyond Madara being surprised about it.
Naruto fighting his father would be way cool
I think that it would be even beyond Kishi's level of ineptitude at storytelling to make the last corpse be a yet unseen and unintroduced character so that means the only real possibilities are the Fourth and the Sage of the Six Paths (having the Sage be the reveal would be pushing it, in my opinion….) It might be the First because that was someone Madara has said he got his ass kicked by but Ichimaru already kind of used him so I think he is invalid
The only person I think it has any real chance of being is Minato
The Fourth, the Third, the Second and the First souls are trapped into the stomach of the Death God, so there's no way that body that made Madara shit on his pants is one of those four, and if it's, then it's another more of Kishi's inconsistences.

Except, you know, Orochimaru tried to summon Minato when his soul was already supposedly in the belly of the death god so that apparently doesn't matter.

We have seen Kishi make up shit far more idiotic than that, like how Orochimaru claimed to have had the Fourth in that last coffin despite the Death God thing….
Jiraiya is dead, he'll stay dead, and he should never come back. Madara is in that last coffin. Never thought about it being Minato though… Something about his soul being trapped in the Shinigami's belly makes me think it'd be impossible to bring his soul back and implant it in another person's body.
Edit: The 4th Hokage being summoned by Orochimaru was anime only by the way.
Maybe these corpses don't need a actual soul?

Yeah, talk you about idiocy, the Fourth sealed himself with one part of the Kyuubi's chakra. Though now I think, it was never explicitly said the third coffing was the Fourth's, right?

Even Pain didn't see Jiraiya's corpse, so how would he know for sure? The last time ANYONE saw Jiraiya, including the readers, he had just found a reserve of strength to come back from the dead, and escaped into the water. NOBODY saw him die. Not the frogs, not the villain, not the readers. Sure, he had a fine death speech then and a reasonable send off then, but as I already noted, so did Choji and Neji.
Edit: The 4th Hokage being summoned by Orochimaru was anime only by the way.
Are you sure? I pretty much never watched the anime and I remember Orochimaru attempting it. He didn't succeed because the Third saw the pattern going on and knew he had to stop the last coffin before it finished its process.
Its been forever since I read it so I could easily be wrong about it, but thats how I remember it.
I hope for the sake of all the poor, lost souls who are still die-hard Naruto fans that Jiraya stays dead. That death scene and how that whole thing went down was one of the very few good things that Kishi ever really did with the story. Bringing him back would ruin that….so yeah it will probably happen

Why do you think many still believe Jiraya is not dead?
Maybe these corpses don't need a actual soul?
You need to summon the spirit (soul) of the person you want to bring back and put it in a sacrifice's body. Then implant a fuda into the body for complete control.
!

Exactly. Actually, the 3rd coffin wasn't even shown in the manga. The animators just assumed.

Yeah, there's always the possibility that Jiraiya could be brought back into the story. Kishi can do whatever the hell he wants since he's the author and all but I find it highly highly highly unlikely he'd do it. Too many signs just point to him being dead. When Kishi was interviewed about whether or not Jiraiya is alive this is what he said,
"He lives…...........................in your heart. Naruto has to be grown up. Shikamaru also needed to be grown up. And Sakura will have to be grown up, too. Lee? Lee doesn't need to be grown up anymore."
As for the 3rd coffin you can look at my above link regarding that. It'd probably easier to take in the whole scope of things by just reading from this link.
Ah, its not explicitly said who the third summon was going to be.
I just always assumed that, given the first and second, fighting the third, that the logical order of progression would be for the fourth to be remaining summon.
Apparently the anime thought the same thing. Which like I said, I never watched, but tis the same conclusion I came to anyway.
Unless it was "Here's uber elite 1 who I went to the trouble of reconstructing and summoning as a zombie! Here's uber elite 2 who I went to the trouble of reconstructing and summoning as a zombie! And here's… Ed from accounting. That one was mostly for show."
Ed from accounting was the deadliest of the Sound Village's money people.
Can someone explain why is Nagato's body at both the Hidden Rain and the coffin summoned by Kabuto?
Is there no chapter this week?
Can someone explain why is Nagato's body at both the Hidden Rain and the coffin summoned by Kabuto?
When a body is sacrificed for Edo so a soul can return, said sacrifice takes the shape of the body the soul originally belonged to.
Can someone explain why is Nagato's body at both the Hidden Rain and the coffin summoned by Kabuto?
Is there no chapter this week?
Ed: "Nagato's body is somewhere with Madara who we saw in the most recent chapter warp the dead body to a secret location. The body that Kabuchimaru just summoned back is actually a sacrifice that takes on the appearance and powers of Nagato. Also there will be no chapter this week."
Ed is also a helpful guy.
Edit: Cyan got to it first.
Also, am I the only one that likes Shippuuden more than the original?

juju has to have an alt. around here somewhere…
I'm not that guy idiot. lol
It's obvious that Kishi is not as amazing as Oda, but I think it's pretty unfair that you guys are criticizing Naruto to such an extent. I personally enjoy the emotional moments (something I know you guys don't particularly like) in Shippuuden and don't mind the homosexual tones (if there is any in the first place) in the story. For example, I thought it was epic when Naruto convinced Nagato to stop being an psycho and Nagato revived the villagers. I don't really know why you guys hate that chapter so much. I do admit that the 600 billion explosives was a bit too much, though.
@RobbyBevard:

I think we only know of three people capable of beating him, so the chances are its one of them. It could also be an unknown character though it would be hard to fit them into the plot revealed so far.
Then again I doubt anyone could rival Madara's new powers except the sage of the seven paths.
Interesting stuff indeed.
Who's Sage of the Seven Paths? lol
What are your opinions on the Zabuza and Haku part(Land of Waves arc)?
Who's Sage of the Seven Paths? lol
Rikudo Sennin.
The man that created the defeated the 10 tails and trapped it in the moon. As well as created and taught the first ninjitsu.
wooooooah woah woooooooah.

Jiraiya's death is in question?
No body, last seen alive.
He was grievously injured and down a river, but then again so was Moria.
Door number 6 was a brand new car.
Madara did not want to be tempted to choose the Escalade over a zombie army.

Well of course. He could have gotten a Zonk.

No point in bringing him back. He got his ass kicked in spectacular fashion by Pein, who just got beat mano a mano by Naruto. He had a great death scene. Naurto moped around for 5 chapters. You want to shit on that (please don't answer that :ermm:)?
Besides, nothing would change with this upcoming Madara arc for him. He would play the familiar "former character who used to be badass, but is now nothing more than a tool used by the author to demonstrate how strong the new bad guy is". Kakashi is playing that role quite well, thank you very much. Oda actually has plans for bad guys after their arc is finished, so Moria does not apply.
Jiraiya's role is done. Tsunade is alive because otherwise Kakashi would be shoehorned into Hokage, which even Kishi realizes is ridiculous. Jiraiya was a great character, so let him stay dead in peace
Except, you know, Orochimaru tried to summon Minato when his soul was already supposedly in the belly of the death god so that apparently doesn't matter.
I thought that the Third filled that coffin full of shruiken and kunai to make sure it didn't open. I think Oro did summon the fourth, but the Third decided it was best to make absolutely sure that the Fourth doesn't get a shot.
Just more evidence that Minato is a badass.
I'm not that

It's the Sage of 6 Paths. I think it corresponds with there being 6 elements since the Rikudou Sennin was the originator of all ninjutsu.

Jiraiya's death is in question?
Not really. Its more a running gag.
Its something I teased Juju about as a joke originally. "Hey, there's no body, no funeral, he's bound to come back!"
And then eventually it settled in that "goddammit, there's no body and this is a comic book."
It's not a theory that I hold with any real conviction. I just wouldn't be surprised if it happens, given the nature of resurections and asspull death cheats in this series.

We love the emotional moments, if they are done well. And if he'd just ADMIT it was a gay relationship instead of dodging around the point, that'd actually be pretty daring and interesting on Kishi's part. We're so harsh on the series because it WAS good once.
As for liking the Nagato dragonballing his entire arc out of significance after getting a "believe it" speech… you're just trolling, right?

Tell it to Choji, Neji, Gaara, Hinata and the entire village after the pain arc. Kishi is hesitant to off popular characters. He couldn't even kill the unpopular in fan polls CHOJI, after a supreme moment of badassery and one of the best most touching death scenes in the series. Six or seven years later, it doesn't appear there was any great plan for Choji or reason for him to live, just…
Jiraiya was really a log.
World ends

But then he'd have to confess to the gruesome nature of his parents' death, and how it scarred him for life. Then he would need to tell everyone why it was he never paid any mind to all the girls at school who'd smile and stir suggestively whenever he walked by, and afterward, explain the reason for his spontaneous tantrums, and that one time he got into a fight with a black guy in Osaka.

Oh come on, it's obvious that Naruto does not want to be in a gay relationship with Sasuke (I wouldn't mind though lol, since I'm gay) and I don't get why all of you keep joking about it. Sure Kishi maybe have unintentionally employed scenes that might have indicated homosexual feelings, but we all know that Naruto is not intended to be gay. I find it irrelevant anyways whether he's gay or not.
I never understood why the death of Kakashi/Shizune/etc. was deemed significant in the first place. To me, the whole arc was about Naruto's and Nagato's vision of the world. The fact that Nagato gave in served the purpose of the arc. This is further emphasized when he revived the villagers, indicating that Naruto succeeded in convincing him that hope still exists.
I thought the ending of that arc was fitting and romantic (the heroic definition) and it made Naruto realize that revenge is not the answer. It's a shame you guys don't see it this way.
Honestly, the only bad part about Shippuuden I see so far are the lackluster fights. I felt that Konan could have something better than 600 billion explosives and the fight between Sasuke and Danzo did not reach it's full potential.
And no, I don't believe in trolling.:ninja:
