You'd think Shanks would win since people seem to like saying "vote this guy cuz he's inspired this important character!!" but I can tell Luffy's going to be having some tough matches. I mean think how close the Magellan vs. Luffy match was. It blows my mind that the Warden could do so well. He's not a "minor" character, and I never got the feeling that anyone ever hated him, but I never saw him as being the popular type.

He does have the whole "stopping the war" angle, plus much more.
And Magellan did well because the campaigns were fantastic for him, and maybe he has some popular because of his quirks and that he beat Luffy in the manga?

ha ha, true enough the Magellan campaigners worked hard. personally I don't care much for him either. it was only under the circumstances that I voted him.
I like Shanks, but to be honest I don't like his newer design. He seems too serious. Not that he should be laughing at a war (though there was that brief interaction with Buggy) but I feel like he's become a little more removed from that fun "let's party and get drunk" attitude.

Yeah I think I remember reading about that too. The second time we see Shanks when Mihawk visits him was my favorite version. Obviously it'd be dumb to want him to be getting drunk all the time, and I do love his badassery, but it's been a while since he's had one of those moments.

Man, people sure can hold their grudges against characters! Some people are like Crocodile, they never forget a loss even years after (well okay, not as extreme as Croc since he held that grudge against Whitebeard for practically 20 years at least). The only character I have a grudge against is Dragon for taking out God, but for some reason I always tend to forget who defeated whom. until someone reminds me that is.
I miss Moria for the sole reason that those waffle pictures were so good.

Aside from Shanks actually doing important things, there's nothing about his character to really complain about. He's never had one of those moments when you just wanted to hit him and scream "shut up already!" Shanks is either entertaining or he's badass.

- Luffy knocked Franky, Ace and Magellan out of the tournament
- Ace knocked Iceburg out.
I shall be campaigning for Shanks, but only because he has enough skill to bring Moria down.
