For a minute, I thought OP said that fighting games should no longer be made. There would have been much blood if that was the case.
Realism: Because a game is realistic DOES NOT mean it's a good thing. Constantly, games are hindered because developers or fans wanted things to be 'realistic'. This is a game. Reality is overrated.
GTA Style Exploration Where It Is Not Needed: I am so sick of games constantly being released with massive cities that you are forced to explore and have to do every mini-mission (aka CHORES) that comes your way. Granted, some games pull it off, but Jak 2 is the bane of my God damn existence. In some games, it is completely unnecessary and boring.
Constant $$$ DLC: I'm not made of fucking money. This is why I don't buy Guitar Hero/Rock Band/any other music related game anymore. Very few are worth the money, and even if they are, they are often way too expensive.
The EPIC Phase: Every freaking game tends to go on this phase where everything has to go dark, depressing, and overly serious. Spyro the Dragon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Jak and Daxter (which I liked before Jak 2), Bomberman, Soul Calibur, and any other series that tries too hard to seem badass, only to give us a crappy game.

Bayonetta quickly grows giant butterfly wings for a split second.
