Luffy's Message

I'm not sure but, about the tattoo on luffy's arm…
Doesn't the first letter stand for Sabo and the second for Ace, and they are crossed out because they're dead?Tho i don't know what the rest stands for.
And sorry if this has been said before. :pThe problem with this theory (and almost any theory regarding the tat) is that we don't have an unimpeded view of it yet. The second letter doesn't look anything like an 'A' to me, blowing the 'Ace' theory out of the window if true.

The tatto have nothing to do with the massage. Hell, could you even read it??
Sure it has a meaning but no way in hell it's a part of the whole massages.

No offense but it sounds a bit strange to say the least that you would find that to make the most sense

It is well established that characters within a fictional universe have no problem reading blurry images quite impossible to make out by the readers.

Well, for one. They could all read the article despite none of the pictures showing actual text.

Imma go with what this guy said
-
Well, for one. They could all read the article despite none of the pictures showing actual text.
Let's get this straight. The panel in the manga shows the article from the newspaper. Said article carries a photograph of Luffy. The photograph is also shown in the panel (as it appears in the newspaper, mind you). None of this is off-panel. Consequently, the characters in the manga reading the newspaper see the same picture we see (with better resolution, maybe). Also, pictures are not text. The loss of resolution between a newspaper and a manga panel showing a newspaper is large enough to obscure the words on the news stories. But the loss of resolution in this case, for this picture, is not an excuse for the fact that the letters on the tattoo can be interpreted in different ways.
Comprendre?

Well, for one. They could all read the article despite none of the pictures showing actual text.
but the thing is ray-san doesnt even no what the publishers would write in the newspaper.. sooo i doubt the article would be the message.. well doubt the tat is the message too.. there must but something there not showing use:ninja:

Why Ray-san knew publishers would write whatever they did to the last detail:
1. Look at who's gate-crashing - the son of the Revolutionary leader/supernova/government's pain in the ass, former shichibukai who just threw away his position and went into open rebellion and the former first mate of the Pirate King himself. Reporting exactly what they did is what any sensible newspaper would do.
2. The actions were highly specific and outrageous.
3. Again, just who was it that did these stuff again? -

Wow, that's the first time I see you praising someone.

Remember, in the pirate world, 'X' marks the spot. =P
-
Wow, that's the first time I see you praising someone.
You don't know him very well, then. I saw a lot.
-
Wow, that's the first time I see you praising someone.
He only gives praise where praise is due, and lately this forum has been drowning in idiocy/bad posts, which is what he happens to attack. I've seen him be nice to plenty of good posters, even recently with all the badness flung about. Most people just gather his notoriety for attacking bad post(er)s, which seems more common but that's the recent rampant idiocy's fault.
But given that you felt a need to say nothing save something insubstantial and offtopic about him being nice, would I be correct in assuming he attacked a bad post of yours? If so the wiser thing to do would be shut up about him, forget whatever he attacked you over, don't post stupid things for him to attack, and move on, rather than antagonize him with "o wow, JD canz be nais?" and make yourself lose face (because whether or not you feel you've "won" against him, you'll look like a fool for picking a fight on a forum over nothing but past butthurt). If you think your post wasn't bad but it was called out, take the advice about leaving him be instead of antagonizing anyway.
If you didn't have a bad post called out by him in the past please disregard all that, I was just making an assumption as explained above because it seems random to me that you'd HAVE to comment on that otherwise. But back on topic. Given the new chapter, I'm assuming the bell ringing was to wait for the new year, or that the era of the SHs being weak is over and they need to change. Either way, somewhere in there was a message to get stronger and that reuniting right away isn't the priority. I feel like the message will likely be explained either right before or after the all-but-inevitable timeskip, so we'll likely have to weather another week or two of speculation while Oda finishes showing us what the SHs training will entail and possibly what other big names (Kizaru, possibly ID, extremely slim chance of CP9) are up to at this beginning of the change in era.
Edit: actually make that another 2-3 weeks, break next week :D -
Jerk Disease (Zephos) is a sweet weird nigga. Nice, kind, assholish, hilarious and cute.
What Luffy meant to say was kinda revealed now. The method, dunno.
-
So now that the chapter is out.
Chopper going all the way back to Torino, despite being already at the Grand Line when he got the message.
Sanji fighting 99 masters and basically the whole Kamabakka Island.
Anyone still not seeing a reasonably long timeskip is in denial now. -
You don't know him very well, then. I saw a lot.
No, I have been here since May. So I missed lots of his posts.
But given that you felt a need to say nothing save something insubstantial and offtopic about him being nice.
You know, I wasn't the only one offtopic (see the post i was quoting, it has nothing to do with Luffy's message).
But given that you felt a need to say nothing save something insubstantial and offtopic about him being nice, would I be correct in assuming he attacked a bad post of yours? Silence implies consent. I don't think you can change anything when you shut up. And I think JD thinks the same way, else, I don't know why he doesn't just ignore bad poster when they appear. But if you think to shut up is a solution, then stay passive and leave the power to guys who have the guts to back up their idea.
I don't really like JD attitude, he often goes too far, and I won't shut up about it. Not liking someone's theory and tell him why is a thing, saying he is dumb because he has a different opinion is another thing. When you said things like that, you have to take responsibilty for it when you're proven wrong.
-
So antagonizing people on the internet to try and earn a bigger e-peen is what matters? This isn't some important cause like civil rights you're fighting for, it's ONE person on THE INTERNET. If you actually had a pair, you'd man up enough to not let one person's behavior on the internet bother you so much. Just lighten up and enjoy the forum and/or ignore him, it's really not something to make a big deal about and be like "row row fight the JD powah!" "Silence implies consent" is bullshit, but I won't make a stupid rape comparison here. Seriously, it's the internet, specifically a forum with tons of others you could discuss opinions with, yet you can't "consent" to letting one guy roam free because he hates bad posts? Letting it go takes bigger balls sometimes, so fight him by being the better person and moving the fuck on rather than antagonizing him.
-
In the recent matter Zephos wasn't right but his point was logical. There were, of course, some unexpectable elements, to him.
Zephos hates idiocy and that is about it. A lot of people improved thanks to his bluntness, really.
He insulted me several times before but I never attacked him back. And neither did I hate him a slight bit for doing so, because I understood. Otherwise we might have never been in good term like right now. And believe me, if you can prove yourself not an idiot nor an asshole (by improving your posts), he will change his attitude toward you.I like how the Sh all understood Luffy's message while we don't, haha.
-
Silence implies consent.
I'm not interested in your quarrel, but you really shouldn't use this phrase for future reference. It justifies rape.
ANYWAYS…this chapter ensured a time skip like Goty said, but the exact message seems unclear still and this chapter didn't really give any new hints.
Chopper's intentions are debatable. I don't know if he went back to get stronger because of the message or because he decided to get stronger on his own. And if he did decide on his own I don't understand how the message led to that response.
-

Both he and Sanji stopped being in a rush to get to the meeting place (Chopper even went BACK) and both showed interest in things that could make them stronger where they were at. I find it hard to believe the message had nothing to do with this sudden change in what they perceived as urgent (i.e reuniting vs strengthening themselves). Whether the message explicitly said "get stronger" or just said "wait" is debatable to a degree, I'll admit, but something in the message changed what was important to do at the moment for Sanji and Chopper.

@ultimateclima:

It really doesn't. What this statement really meant is that when you want something, you should say it. That's how I understand it, and that's how I think everyone should understand it.
And in case of rape, I really feel bad for people who suffered from it, but shit often happens for no reason. Sometimes you are suffering from things you really didn't deserve, but if you're in that kind of situation, try to defend yourself, and if you're unable to stop it, don't keep it for yourself, call the police or I don't know but do something.
So antagonizing people on the internet to try and earn a bigger e-peen is what matters? This isn't some important cause like civil rights you're fighting for, it's ONE person on THE INTERNET.
I am ONE person on THE INTERNET, so why don't you ignore me, I mean you could have skipped my post. Don't blame me for something you're also doing please.
But I am suprised, JD seems untouchable, whenever I try to say something to him, there is always someone who defend him for no reason. He often breaks this forum's law, but nobody seems to give a fuck. But when you break this law to counter-attack, you're always wrong, and you're the immature one. I never heard anyone calling into question what he said, as if it was normal to insult someone because he made bad posts.
Back on topic, I thought Oda will give us in this chapter the content of the message, but he didn't. I still believe the tatoo isn't the real message. It's too hazardous, a bad photo and never they will never understand it.
I like how the Sh all understood Luffy's message while we don't, haha.
Well, despites we follow their adventure for a long time now, we're not SH.

I thought cooldud_21 thingy would just be a login name and I could choose a name to sign my posts later. I am new to this forum and don't know much about it. Thanks for the encouragement.
On topic: with the new chapter, the message has become clearer to interpret. With the power of hindsight, I think the message is "power up, I don't want pussies on my ship anymore".
The bond within the crew is shown really beautifully. Chopper turning back, Sanji prolonging his stay in 'hell', the flashbacks and the commitment to see Luffy's dream through, good stuff. -
I believe Kuma needs more looking at to get the message more clearly. Oda showed Dragon and Ivankov questioning Kuma's actions, then the next scene is all about Kuma showing up at TS.
-There is definitely more to Kuma and Rayleigh's talk and Kuma's connection w/ VP.
-Shakky does not know what Kuma's intentions are, so if she is behind the message then there are alreadly complications. -
The message was get sixteen times stronger you jizzes in the mouth. LOL! Idk what that f'in message was…
-
I still think the message was what was said a few pages back. Luffy is telling them that The Straw Hats died back at SA and that they are not yet ready to enter the New World. Also, due to Whitebeard's death, the Marines will be on high alert, so they must not leave where they are until things settle down, which explains why Chopper went back. Spend X amount of time getting stronger and then they will meet up at Y. Also, I think that Kuma is going to send the Sunny to a safer place than where it is right now. When they are going to meet up and where is beyond me, but this is all I could muster up.
-
Well we do not know yet if Kuma has good or bad intentions at the spot where Sunny is being kept. If his actions during the war are a sign that Kuma is "gone" then we can suspect that he intends to take it and use it as bait to capture the strawhats.
-
Well, even though that is true, we do know that Kuma went earlier to Rayleigh and Shakky with a plan because he didn't want them to die, remember. Also, since he later said to Luffy that they would never meet again, we know that he knew that his memory would get wiped out soon, and I'm sure that he wouldn't overlook that detail in his plan.
-
Damn, I was completely wrong about a time-skip, its nearly inevitable now w/ Sanji going off the fight 99 teachers, Chopper researching the entire library and we will probably see the rest of the crews next action then time-skip to reunion
-
Yea, it does look like a time-skip is almost undeniable now, although it's still up to Oda, and whatever he does, i'm ok with it, as he must have a good reason for doing it. Rayleigh is probably going to train Luffy, Mihawk might be nice and teach Zoro something, Nami has that weather ball and will probably be on the run for a while, Usopp will…regain his shape and Heracles might teach him a couple of tricks, Sanji will learn some new recipes and maybe even the newkama fighting style, Chopper will learn some new doctoring things and might invent a rumble ball with an extra point, Robin will...i don't know, but she'll do something, and Brook might learn some more songs or something to that effect.
-
Timeskip has got to happen, but I doubt it will be a incredibly long one.
-
I'm gonna go for at least a 2-3 months timeskip.
That should be about enough for the Straw Hats. -
Well okay we do kind of know what the message is. It's pretty obvious that Luffy's message is "Go back and get stronger" but … when they meet up is still up in the air. I dunno why but I'm thinking two years. It just seems right to me for some reason.
-
I dunno why but I'm thinking two years. It just seems right to me for some reason.
The problem is that the two years estimate comes from the lame "SA2Y" theory (seriously, look at Oda's English - he's not going to use abbreviations; besides, it really doesn't look like that at all to me.) Also, that's awful long for a bunch of people who've been out at sea for less than a year. The longest I can see it lasting is until the New Year (one possible interpretation of the bells.)
-
Its most likely what Cool said, up to the crew members point of view if they are strong enough to not let it happen again, not a specific time so most likely the next few chapters we will see what each SH will do to get stronger, probably what happened between Shakky and Kuma maybe more of the supernovas till the grand reunion of the SHs which should happen at SA
-
Next few chapter should have remaining Strawhats. Ending with Luffy and Rayleigh plus a formal explanation of what the message actually meant.
Maybe one final cameo Oda wants to throw in to whet our appetites, probably something big.Like this.
596: 3-4 crewmates
597: 3-2 crewmates, maybe some stuff
598: message revealed, Luffy & Ray
599: Haki introduction, and send offTIMESKIP
600: A year later…

That would be great, then it means the rest of the story will begin 500 chapters after chapter 100 which was already a turning point in the story.
