Yeah, but I'm really bad at retro games. I've still not beat Super Mario Bros. Yes, I am ashamed… Damn you, World 8!
Better stay away from Lost Levels then you'll damn Nintendo and yourself playing that.

I wonder what kind of games are you good at since you seem to buy or rent alot of games you never seem to finish.
Anyhowz, that trailer looks pretty killer. I'm late but it looks more loyal than the ones on PS2, though those were okay…. but not as Castlevania games.
That's called a backlog, friend. A lot of games, little time. True, there's games in my collection that I've put on hold due to boss fights, but who hasn't? As for rents: I've rented 3 games so far, beat one and just starting another. Only one I didn't was Bayonetta.

I see. I have some friends like that, but I still don't really understand. Why buy a game(or alot of games) that one won't finish? Seems like throwing money away.
I guess I'm indifferent about the whole thing.
I have plenty of unfinished games. Stopped playing them because I didn't have fun anymore and I'm not going to force myself to beat a game.

Eh just watch a Youtube video/speedrun of it and get it over with.
For a fun watch of Super Mario Bros. 2 JP, search youtube for Game Center CX Mario.
Speedruns makes games look so easy… actually I think it does. I mean, after finishing La Mulana in 16 hours without guides, I saw a speedrun that was around 2 hours. It felt like a big kick in the balls XD
Anyways, I going to dl the ISO for SoN soon. How is game's difficulty? I'm expecting the puzzles to be a cakewalk after LaMulana, but the boss battle should be epic. That's at least what I'm expecting.
Just cause I don't beat a game now means I won't later. A good chunk of my backlog is JRPGs, and we all know where that ends up…

Thing is about games is that once you know what to do it becomes either easier or less time consuming. I mean heck I just beat God of War 1 with Easy mode…with extra red orbs outfit in under 4 hours >o>
BTW I suggest getting the JP SotN for Wakamoto Dracula.
The JP version? Is there a translation patch of some sorts for it?

Oh my God! Please let this be true.
THE FOLLOWING IS RUMORED:
-6 player co-op
-HD
-Rumored for XBox Live Arcade. PSN not yet mentioned.
-Confirmed playable characters: Soma Cruz, Alucard, Jonathan Morris, Charlotte Aulin, and Shanoa. Take note: that's five characters in a six player game.
-It will be a Metroidvania style game.
-DS/GBA borrowed visuals.
If this is real, I'm so forcing my sister to play it, it's not even funny.
This could be interesting if it's big enough…. And more importantly... DRACULA!!
It looks totally phoned in and there aren't any characters I want playable (WTF no Belmonts?!).
What Konami should do is a make a Castlevania PSN game and have this just be a multiplayer mode to it. Oh, and don't reuse the old sprites.

Again. If this is a six player game, only five characters have been shown. However, they seem to be focusing on handheld games (Alucard is in Soma's games). If anything, they'll most likely include Julius Belmont. If we're lucky, we'll get Simon, Trevor, or Richter.
And I'll bet money they'll reuse old sprites.
Yeah, they'll use the "classic" Simon from the first game AGAIN and think people will appreciate their "hard work" in making this game.
I heard OoE was a good game but I was severly disappointed with DoS and haven't played any of the Cv games past that (I can't understand why everyone likes that game).

YES!
RUMOR NO MORE!
You all doubted me. You all thought I was crazy! You also thought my head was fat!
But look who's having his way in bed, baby!
Super excited. I don't know whether to play as Shanoa or Charlotte.
Who am I kidding? CHARLOTTE!
FFFFFFFUUUU-
As a huge Castlevania fan, this is like the best news ever.
Here's hoping either Julius Belmont from AoS/DoS or Albus from OoE gets added into the roster.
I'm definitely going to play as Soma Cruz.
I'm with Sick Fool; this is awesome, Soma is awesome, and please god let Julius be the sixth ranger here.

I can't understand why you don't.
I consider myself a fan of the "Metroidvania" type games but I'm honestly getting sick of the recycled sprites…
They often have some new ones, but really, at least we're getting something new.
My only issue is that I'm going to need to find people to play this.
Only 5 characters.
Here's the transcript:
http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6265355/new-metal-gear-solid-rising-details-revealed-at-konami-conference
[2:46] The next trailer is for the Xbox 360-exclusive Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
[2:48] Castlevania developer Koji "Iga" Igarashi is out in his trademark cowboy hat to present Harmony of Despair, a "classic 2D" game in the same style as recent side-scrolling Castlevania adventures.
[2:48] It will also be a multiplayer game, and Iga said there was a focus on dot art.
[2:49] That's more than 10 million dots on any given screen, he says.
[2:49] The gameplay will be familiar to players, but there are wrinkles. For example, enemies can now follow players from one screen to the next.
[2:50] There will be five playable characters, though they might add more if the game sells well.
[2:50] They also might add more stages, but that depends on the players.
[2:50] "Please help promote this game," Iga pleads.
I need to see screenshots before I get excited.
If it excites YOU and if you even remotely enjoyed SotN it is your civic duty to purchase the game and get someone you know to buy it.
I call bullshit on the 'exclusive' btw. Exclusive for just how long?
You haven't seen the screenshots? This game looks totally phoned in as a quick cash grab and nothing more.
I'll try to dig them up for you.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=21046536&postcount=240
The new E3 screenshots look alright but this looks like someone made the game with a level editor on their pc.
http://www.fearnet.com/news/b19354_e3_2010_castlevania_harmony_of_despair.html
So then the five characters are:
-Soma
-Jonathan
-Charlotte
-Shanoa
-Alucard
Poor Julius. He'll never get the attention he deserves.
I'm starting to have doubts. Not mention, the game is no longer six players now.
Woah.
Those screen-shots are an abomination.
And reusing a boss?
Pass.
That's a sin.
We got E3 game play, sorry to say it's Vampire Slayer of War. Of course the light attack and heavy attack battle system can be accepted, but the whip acts like a bladeless Blade of Chaos, there's QTE finishers and, the icing on the cake, "Huge Titan boss battles which are a level inside itself."
Now, as we've learned with Wolverine Origins and Dante's Inferno, these strong similarities doesn't mean the game will suck. But what do you have to say about a Castlevania using said gameplay?
This game was supposed to be something else so it's ok.
sorry to say it's Vampire Slayer of War
Goddamnit! More of an action game style that I loved so much I played it for 24 hours straight no breaks until I beat it on Hard. What's wrong with these people?

Now now, Greg. No need for that.
God of War with Vampires. If only it was God of War in the Twilight universe… I'd be beating the crap out of Edward aaaaaall night long
But, we know better than to tread those waters.
I'll be hooked once I see how they handle Death and do it right.
It'll be interesting to see if they can keep the same level of difficulty with this system.
http://kotaku.com/5567240/castlevania-harmony-of-despair-hands+on
Turns out it IS six players. They've just only agreed to reveal five characters as of right now. Julius and several other could still have a chance.
Supposably, it'll work in way that all characters can freely explore the dungeon without everyone being in the same room.
The reason some of the screenshots show the playable characters as tiny ants is because you'll be able to view the entire map in live action. You'll be able to move around while looking at the entire map. Doing so, you can see other players and where they are. At the same time, what monsters are waiting for you.
Yeah, they're reusing sprites, but really, I don't care. This seems like an awesome gameplay experience, and even if the reused sprites leave a bad taste in my mouth, it won't compare to the taste of FFXIII's AMAZING graphics but horrid gameplay.
The only thing that was ever difficult in any Castlevania game ever was that Lightning God boss from SotN.
And if you made-crazy leveled-up the sword familiar even HE was a cinch.
Excluding the Gameboy game…that was balls nailed to the wall.
Eh? As an old-school gamer, I absolutely have no problems with them reusing old sprites. I prefer it this way, really.
Albus or Julius for sixth character please.
Actually, the hardest thing in any Castlevania game ever was the hallway right before you fight Death in Castlevania 1. And if you're gonna say that it never gave you any trouble, then you're a lying ding-dong.
Is it possible for the OP to do that?
I thought it required a mod.
Now, I'm excited as hell about this game.
But humor me folks.
Take a gander at this:
AbdHz0tHYXk
Now, imagine that without the 4-player horseshit as Metroidvania.
I just…I dunno why. I DON'T know why. It seems so simple. And yet?
A Castle Crashers remake? By Square? Sign me up!

Looks more like ContraMetroid with swords.
Interesting.
Looks more like ContraMetroid with swords.
ContraStrider-ish evidently. But what I'm saying is, imagine a Metroidvania done in that style.
Oh well.

Yikes! Dying forces you to go back to start.
I might be a bit cautious with this now. I'll download the trial before all else.
Eh, not single-player friendly, huh. That's very disappointing.
Just downloaded this and it's been fun. I went through the first chapter alone while my buddy downloaded it. It wasn't bad, I didn't attempt to fight the boss, just ran through and loaded up on treasure chests and getting used to the game. When my friend and I played together(he's a castlevania buff), we had a great time. The duel attack was sweet, our characters worked well with each other and we were fine when we split up. We tried the boss and beat him first try. I died but he brought me back to life(which restores your HP/MP fully) and we stomped him. The second level we cleared but we didn't make it to the boss. The idea mainly being to level up a bit before going after the boss is fine with me and playing with people makes that all the more fun. If anyone here gets it, my tag name is the same as it is here.
This game looks amazing.
"Castlevania Lords of Shadow is the epic new Castlevania game from Konami.
Developed by Mercury Steam, for PS3 and XBOX 360. Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, and Jason Isaacs provide voice acting.
Kojima Productions is overseeing the game's development."

Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffu…. Well, atleast have the trailer and pics put in that one..
Screw the old thread, their fault for getting the title wrong. Lol, he even capped "of".
Sorry didn't really think it'd matter at the time:ninja:
