i think most anime only posters assume its a checklist of what i a gree or disagree with, or dont know my opinion about
little do they know
-
I was anime only until KF got to strawhats on vearth and I got impatient.
Incredible when you realise how much you're missing.
-
@Zach:
And Firecrouch, the history of your name is literally a misspelling. It's not that infallible.
You really think RoboCop would be a better name? C'mon now.
-
Robocock does make itself available I guess.
-
Robocop was an amazing icon of the 80's. Way better than Monster Squad.
-
I hate pompous arseholes who like to get on their soapboxes and preach about how the manga is soooo much better and people should stop watching and enjoying the anime.
-
well that's just how it is.
anime is shit
manga is awesomeI don't think people should stop enjoying watching anime, I just don't understand it.
-
Nobody says you should stop enjoying the anime. It's when people start glorifying it for something it isn't when it gets obnoxious.
-
exactly

-
-
no you don't understand.
saying manga is better than anime is just like saying that water is wet.
pure, undeniable fact

This is what, your fifth account now?
-
more like fourth?
maybe

So I'm not really interested in reading 10-20 pages of this stuff, would anyone be kind enough to let me know whether or not there's a high quality (720p+ preferably) sub release of this out anywhere yet? I've seen a few but they are all a little low-res for my tastes. I may just be spoiled (haven't watched any anime in several years) but I want to see this in its full glory and all that.
Lend a brother a hand.
-
Yeah, ditto here guys. I also want to ask if there any versions with good (not decent, good) subs. I've been waiting months for this and I wanna enjoy it in all it's glory.
-
What operation are you having?
-
@Thousand:
This is what, your fifth account now?
To be fair this is your 2nd.
-

People should stop watching and enjoying the anime only.
Also what was said about pretending it's more then it is.
-
The anime is an opportunity to enjoy Oda's master piece with sound and colour. It's a spice that greatly accentuates the feel of the manga. Manga is the meat and potatoes of course.
@fdsfgfs:What operation are you having?
Check in the help section.
@Airflow:To be fair this is your 2nd.
So is yours.
-
Nah this is my 1st, my 2nd and 3rd were the ones that got banned.
-
@Sea:
While I enjoyed the movie, I can't say that I am not a little disappointed.
This guy finally knows. Awesome, this how it was.
Also, generic ending, such much potential to be better. In manga Shiki was really badass, in movie… well less badass. All Saving Namis Privates again. Plot was also kind a ridicilous. Good mood movie overall, overrated little.

No. The DVD-screener is, so far, the only version of the movie available. The BluRay is coming out in about 3 weeks, though.

Don't you have moobs to reduce?
-
As long as they don't diverge from each other I feel like the manga and anime give pretty much the same feeling, just in a different format. It really depends on what you experience first I guess.
-
The manga and the anime are both awesome.
I agree with everything Firecrouch said. -

I experienced the Dragonball anime first, and I'll NEVER go back. I tried even.
-
Anime experience first for me. Like the manga better. There are times in where I wished the anime did a much better job in animation and art overall when I compare it to other animated series. One Piece is typically filled with movements with scenery that was meant to be as colorful and exiting as Oda's colorspreads. The anime is a bit better at scenery now than it did back then, but it does not help the the models range from being too stiff, too shiney, or molded into dozen inconsistent shapes and sizes(Like Kuma).
I still watch every now and then, but it just sucks too much.
-
I'm always surprised at how they can completely ruin scenes by removing or blaring over any subtle details and tones Oda made.
Absolute bullshit are they the same basic experience. Only if you came to view an anemic clown version.
-
Manga is #1 For me, Color and music don't justify 40 minutes of loading(3rd world 100kbps), I can read the chapter at my own rithm. And Oda gives more love and detail to each page than what the anime team can give.
The only reason that I see the anime once in a while is to hear Bink's sake, and the openings, the movie had me hyped up, but It could been so much better as a manga arc.
-
Color, motion, and sound are not a bonus, they are just a different medium.
-
There can also be times where the music almost ruins the mood.
But some Strong World OSTs can fix that. -
I barely watch it now, but honestly I found the anime very entertaining when I was first getting into the series. It helped that the earlier episodes had better pacing and had directing that was a little more creative than "expanding" on Oda's paneling and still reaction shots, and the performances of the voice actors really helped capture the spirit of the characters for me, sometimes even improving comedy moments. There are always amazing episodes I'll go back to like 130 and 254, but for the most part I think the anime has kicked the bucket in quality.
I don't have anything against anime only fans, but I feel like they're missing out on a lot. Also, the ones who pretend that the anime will have any meaningful effect on the canon storyline are bothersome…
I think if you really have a deep interest in this story, the manga is a necessity.
-
In the case of "One Piece" I feel like it's pretty much the same thing except the first episode is switched up and there's filler and some censoring.
-
Sure, it's the same in the sense that the same events unfold, minus filler.
-
I follow both. I mean, yeah, the manga is better. But, like… who cares? It's just an effing anime/manga... People will chose to do what they do.
-
Sure, it's the same in the sense that the same events unfold, minus filler.
Yeah that's all that really matters to me is the basic story. How it's told in both anime and manga form each have their own pros and cons.
-
well that's just how it is.
anime is shit
manga is awesomeI don't think people should stop enjoying watching anime, I just don't understand it.
Honestly I like anime better then manga,
To each his own.
-
The only time I really hated the anime was during the Davy Back Fight and how Foxy is treated in the anime. Most filler I can ignore but DBF was screwed over.
I think everything else is okay, except when the anime drags to not catch up with the manga but even then it's usually not that bad. Honestly everybody has their own opinions and it's up to them what they like, but I do like the manga more.
It wasn't until this movie and the Strawhat stories in the anime that I was bothered by anime = canon arguments in the forums. It just seems like a slippery slope where fans will just selectively choose which scenes are canon in the anime just because they like it and not canon just because they hate it.
-
That and the fact that they can't seem to wrap their mind around Oda giving dregs of ideas of what he's up to and they fill in (the carniverous plants don't look the same, neither does the kid on Frankies island etc.)
Basically, if Oda really gave a damn about keeping the two as one, and didn't regard the anime as the adaptation entirely seperate from his work that it is, he would have drawn the plant to look the same,
But of course not. He went with the way he wanted it to look in the first place, not the way the animators decided.
-
@JERK:

Apparently trolling has really gone downhill these days, you are so obvious I barely feel a twinge of rage.
-
There are not the same basic experience.
Whether you enjoy the anime or not, that is a pretty indisputable fact.
-

Whether you enjoy the anime or not, that is a pretty indisputable fact.
Of course not.
One is a comic and one is an animation.
I don't see what you are getting at?
-
That the author's intended experience is diluted in the animated version by
leaving things out that were in the manga
putting things in that contradict the manga
padding an episode out to the extent that a chapter becomes an episode
having filler smack dab in the middle of an arcThat kind of thing.
-
They're not the same experience but if it's the same story pretty much verbatim I don't really see much of reason to compare so much. "One Piece" like any anime isn't the exact same story as the original manga but that doesn't make it any better or worse, just different.
