I think the whole thing is the msg.

I think that luffy attacking marineford to do his ritual mourning Ace's death shows he's ok now and getting over it. Ray and Jimbei being with him also shows that he's in good care and waiting for them with rayleigh if they want to go. They were all in a hurry, prioritizing on going to help luffy but now the news paper shows he doesnt need help. The 16 bells and the tattoo means a new age I think, and that when they come back to be ready to kick some ass.

now the crew will take their time getting to luffy, like zoro (if he ever gets it) will train some more instead of just leaving, robin will see what the Rev Army wants and maybe meet dragon, etc etc..nami was mad coz she was all crying and worrying turns out he's fine and she got the town pissed at her for nothing xD

This is how I interpret the message: "We will regather by the end of this year, at the same place we were separated"

the fact that its not something he'd do is so that shs would know its a messege. he returned back to tragic place meaning returning to SA, doing marines rituals represents marines, 16 times perhaps 16th grove. all in all could be SA packed with marines
BTW tatoo colud be numbers 802 and letter y(x)

Personally, and I know it sounds kinda stupid in a way, I think that Rayleigh and Kuma planned something out before the war so that after the war he can paw Shackey, the Sunny, and the rest of them somewhere safe for the meantime and they'll regroup there. I don't know how Kuma's able to do that if he's been completely remodeled for the WG, but that's all I've got going for me. :happy:

I don't think so. It would have been nice of Rayleigh to tell Shakky of the plan, because she looks surprised as to whether Kuma is an ally or foe at the moment. Unless she is simply confused whether or not he was able to return to his former self.

Yeah. This seems like a reasonable message to send, and one they might get–it's just... the reactions of the crew make it seem as if there's... more to it, you know? Why shout in delirious joy like Chopper "I got it! I got it Luffy!" and why tear up like Usopp, why "forsooth" (Franky) and why Robin's "roger," --if it's not something more... specific, I guess. Not to mention why claim he's not thinking about their feelings (Nami) if the whole message is about making them calm down and not worry?

Rayleigh will not go to trouble going after luffy just so he could pray at the marinford i would say yes for timeskip since it is need and the time they spent apart not enough for them to be stronger

saying that luffys tattoo is in honour to aces tattoo, i think is the best to assume.
but this tattoo having something to do with what luffy wanted to tell his crew…mhh could be,but only vivi said that it`s fashionable...so i think he would have presented it more when it does have something to do with when they will meet each other.

saying the 16 bell rings could mean the time period for the reunion..than only 16 days would work for me, cause he wnated to see them so badly..and making it 16 years...lol

but i guess rayleigh has told him how many times to ring the bell, because luffy wozuld have never known that 16 bell rings would stand for ending and starting a new era,
so that clearly shows the crew that it was rayleigh who ordered luffy to make that message to them^^

I think the message is something else than "I'm ok, don't worry". I mean that's someting he could've told them when they met up. I think it's something along the lines of when and/or where they should meet. The only way I could fit Nami's selfishness line is by it being a while, though.

If you are separated from your incredibly infamous, likely to be reported upon if he pushes his nose out of doors for anything Captain, and you are worried about him because the recent war news, the paper is the FIRST place you'd look IMHO, even if you never do normally. LOL

Quoted for truth. I also think the tattoo has more to deal with honoring Ace than the message. My personal opinion when I read the chapter is that there are things the characters know that we do not, leading us to false speculations like there will be a time skip. It's like dramatic irony but reversed.

2. It's an impractical thing that would possibly not even be photographed, even the press could have simply gotten the wrong angle.

It could mean tones of things.

2 - Two
Y - Years
this could be referring to things like the Marines trying to settle the sea, and he wants them to be safe, though Nami says that he's being selfish, maybe thinking that she CAN'T stay safe where she is because of what she's done.

As to why the Marines and some others haven't noticed it? Because it isn't something you would notice instantly, plus the Marines were more unsettled by what he had done, no the tattoo. Hell, they may think it's just a tribute to Ace.

Though the SA may just mean SA, but the location thing seems far too obvious, so there are many theories for that as well...

How–in his super fast jumbo jet? But seriously, it's an idea--but it doesn't seem feasible because if the distance and number of places involved. It's more practical for them all to meet at one location--where the cards take them, essentially.

Can we please stop talking about the tattoo? It's not the message at all. The actions of what Luffy and co. did were the message. Rayleigh said it himself.

Even though I understand where you're going (though I'd have to disagree), this just made me crack up, since the guy's always getting lost. With this chapter, Oda has confirmed that Zoro is indeed the dumbest one in the crew… with Luffy not so close anymore. It's amazing.

Honestly, I'll be disappointed if the message is in the tattoo. We're looking at the same picture the crew is looking at; if we can't make out the letters, neither should they. That would be cheap storytelling.

Despite whatever the message means how people took it is just as bad. The world government thinks it's war some pirates think he's claiming the age and Zoro still hasn't figured it out. I think it has something to do with getting stronger. Like a number of people to collect or wait for me on shabondy i'll be there in how many years. Either way I don't think he did it with a marker. More tattoos to come.

Oh and also, it wouldn't make sense for them to wait (2 years or w/e) if all the supernova have already crossed. Part of the hype of the supernovas was seeing them collide with the SH's in the NW. Waiting a long time would throw that whole dynamic out.
