@ZeArmyOfHalen:
My mistake, I meant a rehash of Unleashed's daytime levels.
Well after all it is what massive Sonic fanboys wanted. THIS GAME ROCKS BUT TEH WEREWOLF IS BAD
More of a "Hey, they finally had some decent ideas with the daytime portions. Why didn't they spend their time making that great?" The skip boost to the sides was nice, but it still had all the other usual pratfalls… of being a racing game that won't admit its a racing game. (and when it switched to the much advertised "2-d" potions, it was pretty much autopilot hold the forward button while ZOnic zoomed invincibly)
The werehog was terrible, make no mistake. (And his auto-triggered arm stretchign to grab platform which was hit or miss and of variable lengths was godawful)
But that doesn't mean the game would be better if they just dropped the werehog. There'd still have been the level select menu, hub world, faux rpg aspect, needless item collection, forced replaying of levels, villages, and godawful story.
JUST NAVIGATING BETWEEN LEVELS could take HALF AN HOUR the first time through a section. Load times were attocious too. I knew I was in trouble the first time I played the game and it took like 5 minutes to get to the first stage.
If they cut the wannabe kingdom hearts werehog sections, the story, the rpg quest, the level selection, the hub world, the training levels, and JUST gave the 6 daytime stages? Expanded and fleshed out?
Well. Then they'd merely have had a mediocre game, and only 6 stages, with most of the old flaws still intact, *including pits of death, narrow streightforward tracks OR areas that required incredibly sharp turns, and long stretches that required enemy bouncing that might kill you even if you didi it perfectly) instead of an incredibly bad godawful ill concieved one.
Unleashed was only maybe 20% decent. Not 20% great. And that was countered by the 80% godawful.
But if they'd given us JUST that 20%? well, at least it wouldn't be such a hated final straw that broke the camel's back sort of incident that it was.
