Had to post this, end result for a boffer fight durable Croc hook.
Wish I had more of my hands on time with it, but this was made by a SCA/Renfaire friend when he heard I was doing Croc.Hail to the smithy, this thing rocks.

Some might not like others making a prop for you…but how could I pass up something like this for material cost, and promise of a few drinks and pizza.
Did learn a few tricks in it's construction, so future props can look a lot better...so not a total loss.

The hook looks great(color and base details), but in terms of scale isn't the hook itself not the base, suppose to be a tad bigger? I mean my hook isn't perfect and all so I guess I shouldn't talk.

Hey, if someone offers to make you a prop, and as long as you give credit where credit is due, I see no harm in it. And it's not like you're competing in a cosplay competition (where there are a good portion of participants who buy/commission their costumes anyway).

Well it was also made by a man with Boffer fights in mind. As well Mike said there was only so much he can do with fiberglass and resin…not to mention unless I could throw down another 80 bucks for mats, this was the comfortable medium...
Not to mention all the reference pictures we tried to get had anywhere from a hook as long as crocs forearm to half the size of his body....
So we mostly used Impel down POP for scale.
@Ichnob Heck I might enter a contest just to show it off, but sure will say I barely got any say with the building.
I have no problem giving the credit and killing any chance of winning…cause to me who cares about a prize. It's about the cosplay, the fun, showing off the outfit...and if you bought your shoes...oh darn, no Robotech Box set dvd for you...
And if it bothers them so much I can always get my first hook ...
EDIT Just me or you think Croc ran into Enel at some point and got gold melted on his arm like Luffy? Cause he got to have a hand still or a mangled stump...and if Impel down didn't remove his hook it has to be attached to him a bit more solid than you think. Least he blinged it out.

I'm 99% sure he is missing his left hand. They let him keep his hook in impel down because obviously, you can't put cuffs around a stump.
Also your hook and base look in scale, the thing is that the base is supposed to be more round, not oblong like that. But it looks AWESOME. Extremely awesome. I want to throw my paper mache shit away XD

A lot It was at the mercy of Mike and how he could make it happen. Resin I know, fiberglass not so much…But it fit well.
And it's got a pvc pipe inside as a handle :)
I have high hopes for it, as well for my other hook...And I liked your hook, not bad at all for paper mache.
You could shackle his feet, then just run a chain to his hand... but eh...

that hook…. is AMAZING HOLY SHIT D: is in awe I LOVE all the Croc hooks... I"M SO RELIEVED that Sami is making our Crocs hook T____T I don't have time.
I did get Kizaru's top together.. need to hem sleeves and the bottom, and then BUTTONS AND BUTTON HOLES AND IT'S DONE. Akainu's top needs the second bottom hem, buttons and button holes. THEN PANTS Dx both pairs of pants need to be done. Both pairs of pants... may not have .. waist bands >__> they're so tall already I don't want them to be the pants that ate Fred. They'll have pockets because Kizaru's fucking hands are always in them -_-
THEN I need to make Inazuma, SW Luffy, SW Nami... and and... and x__x; that could be it. I have NO MORE DAYS OFF until Thursday NEXT WEEK i'm certain x__x; gjslkenfdsklndflsnfdlskn so worried I won't get everything done. I also need to get Ivas crown together and paint a shoe for Inazuma and mod Kizaru's shoes T___T have I taken on to much?

Well my friend…I will say this. I'm at least happy with it for now.
One day there might be the perfect hook, with removable hook/poison stinger/blade.But not yet and not this hook heh.

It's soo pretty sis x3 I should pose in my Akainu one too, after we get the buttons on there, then I'll just put on my hat. Oh. need to mock up the shirt too. I'm gonna have soo much fun next weekend flashing our roommates as Bon-chan and Akainu, cause how else are we going to put the tattoo on my neck for Akainu unless I stand there without a shirt on? And with Bon-chan, I am gonna be bandaged up..soo.. Yeah. Flash time.

Coralsnake, congrats on finishing the jacket! Tailored and lined jackets are a pain in the butt, but look so nice when they're done. Looks like the lapels are a little puffy, you could topstitch down the edges and they'll flatten right out.
Alright, time to do final packing for Fanime. Bringing 4 costumes - ID Luffy, Shanks, Hiruma from Eyeshield 21 and Hiramaru from Bakuman. And a toaster oven. I hope I don't forget anything!

And so I went to a thrift store and bought a red blazer..(since I couldn't find any maroon/magenta one) for Akainu…my next step is to die the blazer so I already ordered some fabric dye. I'll take a picture later with the red blazer as a test. As it goes I shall be done next week....hopefully!

Yeah…..I wish I could go to more cons...but time is mostly my problem due to work and all......In fact I'm only going to two more cons this year and I might not even cosplay for one of them (but that is because I will hitting panels, artist alley and such all day lol)

Yeah I know!!! And odd enough I found maroon pants to be more common than the actual suits!!…....and sadly Otakon will be a no for me this year due to free time to actually go. Next year for sure I will go and I'll bring Akainu!!

So I'm sitting at the Fanime swap meet area trying to sell my shit, wearing my Amazon Lily Luffy costume with the frills and flowers. And some guy, who recognized my outfit and is current with OP said to me, "I didn't know you could buy that Luffy cosplay?" I told him it was made. He was nice about it and all. But I'm not sure how I feel about the comment. Though I am feeling a little proud that he thought it looked kind of "professional."

this happened tonight... pants almost DONE. Need a zipper. They're JUST high water enough to see the tops of the shoes I'm gonna mod x3 and my pasty ankles.

also… brought in the pants closer to my legs so they're a bit tighter and more uncomfortable, just how cosplay should be. xD; they have pockets though you can't see them and it appears that it's not wise to kick my leg in these... I'm afraid I'll blow out the ass/crotch/everything... though there was quite a deal of back stitching.
! Still needs buttons/buttonholes, cuff buttons, zipper, and top stitching... then... DONE DONE DONE DONE -

thanks TuT I'm glad someone noticed it xD I know most people are at a con this weekend or will be at A-Kon this weekend xDD It was hard… I had so many problems but it even helped me learn to sew pants better!

btw, I had some funky bad dream last night that I was trying to make it to a cosplay photoshoot but I kept forgetting things and some guy was riding a motorcycle and getting his picture taken. I then stopped to look at him and he crashed and broke his face though in my dream it was more like he looked one way, then when he hurt himself he was someone else. It was a shitty dream
moral of the dream… all you A-Kon cosplayers or cosplayers going to another con next weekend.... DO NOT FORGET YOUR STUFF D: Make a list of everything and check it all off when you gather it/put it in the car/pack it Dx I hate having dreams where something was incomplete or forgotten T_T they suck and stress me out!
