It's a shonen, Naruto will win. I still like the idea of him bringing Sasuke's dead body back to the village, because he will have "brought him back". I would rather that be him doing a heel face turn than being outright murdered by Madara. The best choice would be Sasuke reforming but I don't know the odds of that.
@Jarhead, an act like ressurecting Jiraiya would be the equuivalent of a series downgrader like Yoruichi and Urahara being owned by Liezen.

He still has free will, unless people are going to start to being in that "darkness" crap. I mean fair enough as an abstract idea like the image of Gaara and Naruto via Gamabunta's sword in volume 12. It just seems this darkness has become another scapegoat for Sasuke.

If I cared enough to look back I'd pull up the vision Karin had of him being all possesed.
The point is, at the end all his assholishness is going to be EXCUSED and FORGIVEN by claiming "he had no free will, it wasn't his fault" and everyone will be happy.

Yeah that's what pisses me off Robbie, but I try to think of it as Kakashi's warning to Sasuke or Pein's discussion of cycles of hatred. So long as I think of it in context the series won't look bad. IF I keep rememembering those plot points anyway. It's Naruto facing this dark side that is getting to me really. He already faced it in winning over the villagers. It kinda makes sense though.
What happened to conseqennces of actions? Luffy punches a slaver in the face and he has the whole lot of marines down his throat, Gon possibly loses his nen to beat someone above his level etc.

As far as Sasuke goes…as bad a writer as Kishimoto is reputed, I don't think Sasuke is going to be absolved simply because of the influence of genetics and family. He's his own man and made his own decisions...this is a pretty fundamental theme in coming-of-age shounen manga...it's beyond my imagination for that to be discounted.

God the whole waterfall thing is some of the most trite writing I have ever seen. I mean how overdone is the whole "know thyself," "power from within," "greatest enemy is yourself," "darkness within" theme?

Seriously, this is why Naruto is such a bad manga. Since Part 2, Sasugay's emo traumatizing past gets like 100 chapters. Naruto got like 4 chapters and a stupid speech. I don't think even Black Flash and Raikage can make this somewhat bearable to read anymore…

Remnants of the dark side always remain. I mean I used to do witchcraft and some shit happened. Whether you explain it as magic or me tricking my own mind or something, it doesn't matter I enhanced my own dark side and it took a lot of effort to get rid of that. Even so remnants remained.
But even if we look at this as a purely emotional thing, not magic beasts or alter egos or whatever, we can never get rid of our darkness fully as humans. We all have our berserk buttons and shit that gets us agitated no matter how much we meditate it away for a while, or drink tea or relax however we do it.
