Managed to get all the way up to Lance yesterday with my ragamuffin team of mid 30's.
I was impressed till I was knocked about by his Gyarados.

Combed Cerulean Cave for some swag before I even think about Mewtwo. Got a nice Thunderbolt TM out of it.

What black magic did you use to get past Karen?
Fighting-types, probably. Or a really resilient Water-type.
@Cyan:
Local, does anyone on your team know Earthquake or something that'll destroy a Muk in less than two turns?
I've got Earthquake TM. Was thinking of giving it to Taurus or Typhlosion (if he learns it.)
Unfortunately I think there is only one EQ TM in the game so I dun wanna waste it on a poke I'm not gonna use post game.
What black magic did you use to get past Karen?
Feraligatr managed to take out her Murkrow and Houndoom (OHKO for the latter might I add)
Slaking hyper beaming her Umbreon (this only being after Umbreon taking out my two dragons and girafarig)
Altaria when she was still around managed to knock down Vileplume.
A fair few revives were used in exchange for my Ampharos.

Earthquake is a breedable move, so you can still pass it on to new critters later, as long as you give it to a male critter to start with. (And quite a few things learn it naturally)
What black magic did you use to get past Karen?
Enough set up with x defs and special defs and you can pretty much beat anything at any level.
defeated Monty with raticate ( apparently it had a few dark moves on it when i captured it :D)
now im in olivine city
also.how do you find out where the legends are..the 3 dogs have disappeared out of the burned tower
Get reppels
Get a creature with level 39
Go to a rute with grass that is named "route #" preferible near the border of a citty, and has pkmns of less than lvl 30
Walk around the route untill you get bored or the repel exaust or the beast comes out.
If they don't show up, go to the border and come back.
Repeat untill profit!
Suicune doesn't aparears like this, I think.
Or you can check your map in the pokegear where it'll show the locations of the beasts and you go to two routes that are connected and just walk back and forth between the two checking your map each time since the pokemon change locations each time you go onto a new route. Then once they're on the same route as you use a repel and go into the grass. Suicane you have to find like 3-4 in which it'll have a giant icon so you don't have to search the grass, and then it'll be a non-roaming legendary.
Whee, kicking ass at the Battle Arcade. It's so easy to manipulate things in your favor. Perpetual rain + Jolteon = rape.
I beat all 8 Johto gym leaders, but the kimono girls keep beating my ass. So, I decided to try to level up my Pokemon. It's gonna be kinda hard. I've also been trying to win coins so I can get the TM for Ice Beam to teach to my Mamoswine. I've realized that Voltorb Flip has to be the most retarded game ever thought up…
So I'm not really that worried about it since my Jolteon should be able to rape anything and everything, but I figure I would ask if my team is ready for the Johto Elite 4.
Lvl 50 Jolteon Thunder Fang/HP(Fighting unfortunately)/Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt I believe my Jolteon is in the top percentage of all Jolteons. :D But seriously since level 1 it's always gotten at least a 3 in speed when leveling up.
Lvl 36 Red Gyarados Bite/Ice Fang/Waterfall/Aqua Tail I'll work on the moveset later
Lvl 42 Charizard Fly/Wing Attack/Fire Fang/Flamethrower Need to replace Wing Attack and Fire Fang eventually.
Lvl 37 Blastoise Aqua Tail/Surf/Skull Bash/Whirlpool I actually had it forget Whirlpool and then about 5 minutes later realized I still needed it and had to add it back. =(
Lvl 36 Gabite Slash/Sand Tomb/Dragon Claw/Draco Meteor For now this is the one I use for Rock Smash and Strength when I have to have it.
Lvl 18 Dratini Extreme Speed/Thunder Wave/Twister/Dragon Rage Obviously I have better pokemon that I can put there, but I don't think I'll lose and I want to level it up.
If you all think I should remove Dratini because I might have problems I could replace it with a Lvl 37 Venusaur, Lvl 35 Miltank, Lvl 32 Haunter, Lvl 45 Lugia, Lvl 34 Growlithe, Lvl 36 Rotom, or Lvl 50 Mespirit.
If you make it to Lance, his Lvl 50 Dragonite would most likely sweep you.

Take an electric type out on the water, or a water type into a cave, from near the end of the game where things come at about level 30 or 35, and just have them beat the snot out of things with 1HKO's. Toss an experiance share onto a second critter, and you should get some reasonable levels quickly.
And once one critter is several levels ahead of where it should be, it goes much faster.
I've also been trying to win coins so I can get the TM for Ice Beam to teach to my Mamoswine. I've realized that Voltorb Flip has to be the most retarded game ever thought up…
You mean…. minesweeper sudoku?
I'd level up gyarados, blastoise and gabite to 40 at least, just to save on potions and other items. But yeah your jolteon alone should be enough to destroy most of e4.
Well, only one more gym badge left to go. Now I just have to face Blue. Wish me luck people.

Crap! I almost forgot about the glory that is EXP share. I have to go get one now.
Thanks for reminding me.

That's the one.
Ugh, I don't think I was given a good dratini, mostly 1s whenever it levels.
Edit- Figured I'd just see how I do and level up accordingly and lost to Bruno. I have a question though, cross chop can hit pokemon who flew up in the sky? I looked up the move after he killed my charizard with it, but none of the sites list it as being able to hit someone who flew up.
The reason why cross chop hit your pokemon in the air was because Bruno machamp has no guard. It's a pokemon ability that always hit even in air and underground.
Alright, thank you, I just wish that it would mention that in the game.
Edit- Urgh… I played through them again and got to Lance beat his level 50 dragonite and had him down to two pokemon when he sent out his level 49 dragonite which I got down to where you could barely see it without beating it on accident and he full restored, then I managed to get it down to a couple of millimeters again and he beat me.

You may already know this but this helped me out a lot.

All those Minesweeper games have made me awesome at Voltorb flip.

Not really getting part of it. Care to explain a bit more?
@ZeArmyOfHalen:

The thing about Voltorb Flip is that it's still very much a game of chance, but your priority is to set the odds in your favor. If you know how to read the Voltorb signals for each column and row, your first goal is to open up all of the squares in any row or column that has "0" Voltorbs. Then look for any row or column that has either 4/1, 1/4, 2/3, or 3/2 as it's Voltorb to Point ratio, and mark all of the squares in that column/row as either a Voltorb or a "1".
At this point you'll hopefully have a row or two singled out, and from here the game becomes a game of chance, but again, your goal is to play to the percentages. You'll have to use some critical thinking to determine the likelihood of a number appearing and find the one with the lowest risk/highest reward. For example, if there's a row that has 1 Voltorb to 8 Points, and it crosses with a column that has 1 Voltorb to 7 Points, then it's generally a pretty safe idea that the intersection of those two is a high number. Do your best to whittle down these low risk scenarios until you get to a point where your chances are about equal across the board. At this point it becomes a game of chance, and just guess. Usually your final guess runs at about a 50% chance, so it's far from hopeless, and there are plenty of occasions where if you use the right math you can completely figure out the board.
To win big at the game you just need to do a little math, figure the best chance to move forward, and ALWAYS look for low risk at the start. Voltorb Flip will knock you down more levels depending on how badly you botch the game. If you only flip over two panels before finding a Voltorb, you'll plummet down the levels, but if you can flip over a good majority of the board, you'll remain on the same level even if you lose. Hope that helped.
What's funny is that they expect kids to play the Voltorb thing…
Oh, and @Zkaiser, yeah I've been doing that, but it's still annoying.
Yeah, Voltorb Flip is a pain in the ass. I used to just buy 500 coins over and over with money until I had enough for the prize I wanted.
Think I'll just do that on Platinum and Diamond over and over and transfer the stuff over to SS.
I have a question, would a Rhyperior with the Solid Rock ability be considered Uber,or is it not due to Water and Grass still having 2x Super Effective on it?

It's official.
We're nerds.
All right. Finally, all 16 badges are mine. Oh, and you're all gonna hate me for saying this, but…...
Blue was easy.
Blue was easy.
Red was easy..
16 dead Godchus
The only way someone can say "Red was easy" is if they used their Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and that's totally bitch made.
If you did it with your HeartGold/SoulSilver team.
I am impressed.
I agree with KingofSaurus, Red was a bit difficult. I scathed by with my Gengar/Revive/Destiny Bond taking out 3 of his heavy hitters. Other than that Pikachu was a pain if not well prepared.
The only real problem with Pikachu is that it'll one-shot your first bugger with Volt Tackle.
Where Red got that Light Ball, I'll never know…
Hm, if that's the case, I think I'll try opening with Jolteon (Volt Absorb FTW), and try to Iron Tail it to death, since Pikachu has miserable defense.
Be careful. It has Iron Tail, too.
And a shitload of Full Restores.
Pikachu was easy to me,it was his Lapras and Blatoise who were my main problem, only reason Blastoise was a problem is because I didn't know it had Focus Blast though.
Precisely why I'm packing my own Volt Tackle Pikachu when I go at him for real.
If you did it with your HeartGold/SoulSilver team.
I am impressed.
I did do it with my SoulSilver team.
My entire team's at level 70, 18 lower than Godchu. My Tyrannitar OHKO'd Godchu, the rest of his team was smoked quickly except for Lapras, but I walled it with Starmie.
EDIT: My initial post about me kicking Red's ass was on page 66.
Beat Red!!!!
My team was only level 70, but we crushed him without much problem. His Lapras stalled for awhile because of its high HP, but it went down pretty quick thanks to Tyrannitar's ability.
Godchu went down in one Earthquake…stupid rat.
Ok. I got to the Elite Four. Beat all of them. And now I'm stuck at Lance. That Lv. 50 Dragonite's the problem, and his Outrage. :getlost: And what's worse is that I know I would be able to beat it if I'd be able to attack first. The problem is that Dragonite ALWAYS makes the first move, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Here's my current team:
Typhlosion Lv.42 (Cut/Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Blast Burn)
Ampharos Lv.41 (Charge Beam/Strength/Discharge/Thunder)
Noctowl Lv.37 (Fly/Zen Headbutt/Shadow Ball/Hyper Beam)
Quagsire Lv.35 (Surf/Whirlpool/Rock Smash/Waterfall)
Mamoswine Lv.38 (Powder Snow/Blizzard/Avalanche/Mud Bomb)
Gligar Lv.42 (Iron Tail/Dark Pulse/X-Scissor/Earthquake)
Any advice?
Ice and Dragon-types.
@Cyan:
Ice and Dragon-types.
His Dragonite knows Fire Blast.
I don't have any dragon types and the pokemon in my team are the strongest I have. I guess I could try to catch a Dragon type…

I was able to take down his Dragonites with my Dewgong, but then again at least one of his Dragonites knows Thunder, so you're kinda screwed no matter what. Just level up your pokemon and bring a bunch of potions, full restores, and revives.
Clair is getting annoying. Critical hits should not happen 4-5 times in a row.

I'll try using my Quagsire (who has unfortunately been reduced to HM whore status) first with dragonite. But he has that 1HKO thing that I can't seem to get past. I'm actually gonna try right now, as I saved the game right before the Lance battle.
EDIT:
Oh wait, Dewgong's part Ice.

Dude… you're just an overall "offensive" trainer, aren't you? Ahaha!
Well then, why come Quagsire doesn't have Earthquake or Blizzard?
Mamoswine doesn't have Earthquake either...
By the way! Cut and Strength sucks.
Snocone, don't tell me you wasted Earthquake. That's basically the only way you'll get past Janine second time around.
Dude… you're just an overall "offensive" trainer, aren't you? Ahaha!
Yep. Ever since I was a little kid, I hated the Staus affecting moves. So I just never used them. Guess that carried over.
Well then, why come Quagsire doesn't have Earthquake or Blizzard?
Mamoswine doesn't have Earthquake either…
Quag learns it in 1 more level. Just gotta delete Rock Smash. I only had one TM for Earthquake, so I gave it to my Gligar- who is my only Pokemon able to hold out against Dragonite's Outrage.
By the way! Cut and Strength sucks.
The only reason I have them is for the out of battle situations. I'm gonna delete them, but I need something good to replace them.
And I just got beaten by Lance again. His Dragonite's Outrage is a pain.
