Bleach does a new deus ex machina every 10th chapter, so it's simply stopped being interesting when that happens. When I read the last chapter, since everyone has been knocked out but Ichigo, I kept thinking all along: "Whom will show up this time to save Ichigo's ass? Urahara? Byakuya and Kenpachi? Perhaps Uryu and Orihime are due back?…......Oh! Ichigo's dad, right? Ok. Whatever."

-Suddenly reminded of Luffyko from last year-
Anyway, if we do get fake spoilers i just hope they make a darn good one. -
they are, that's why spoilers are "taking too long" this week
-
Off topic then. What kind of fake spoiler will they make this year.
Dragon appearing? Sengoku or Garp dead? Strawhat crew appearing? Go on take ur guess -
Ace say fake will be Gol D Ace reviving
-
my prediction will be shanks ending up being hurt by Akainus attack permanently
( ill be surprised if it happens in the real series) -

-
yea croc as female seems like could be huge possibility as a fake, or else dragon showing up. people have been predicting dragon shows up like every week since he was mentioned ot be luffy's dad.
hmm don't want to say someone shows up, wehave had that too much lately. so no enel, supernova's, revolutionaries, strawhats or whoever else you want to say shows up.
hmm going to say for fake spoiler they have law put luffy's head on some other body that is funny. like on jimbei or a bear or who knows. i think that would make an amusing fake spoiler

On the bleach topic, that is exactly what I have been thinking, One piece Rarely has some one saving their ass, I think one of the first times, if not the first was when Raleygh helped Zoro in Shaboddy, other than that is pretty straightforward who is going to fight who with no interventions.
In my opinion this entire war is more a fan service than a plot device, since their first appearance everyone has always been wondering about power levels, devil fruits, and one of the biggest mysteries, Akainu overall DF. We have now (with Shanks) all the most powerful characters every introduced (wo the other 2 Yonkou) in OP story fighting each other. Kinda remind me Saint Seiya when the Hades saga came and we were able to see the Gold Saint fight without holding their powers.
And yeah, the big difference in One Piece is, like someone said, that power levels are well stated, but in Bleach, somehow the main antagonist is terribly powerful and even more than the older members of the Gotei, that is nonsense.
-
As a fake spoiler, I would go with Dragon Appearing or all the other SH showing, usually fake spoilers are somehow sound and consistent. Maybe LAw saying Jimbei is dead or something like that would also work.

well i think the bad thing in bleach is not that ichigo is being seen as super powerful now, but that the others power levels seem to be so inconsistant. I mean when the 11+ guys came to earth and fought against the people there, namely hitsugaya, he and other barely won and claim it was DUE ONLY to teh surprise of their unlocked power. Yet then later they are fighting much much stronger guys by leagues and miles as stated by the espada and yet they are able to hold their own.
and ichigo is seen to be and said to be stronger than like all captains (save maybe the leader) and yet he seems to be useless and pathetic when other captains around
-
So does anyone expect to see a) Sengoku declare an end to the war this chapter, b) Shank's badassery alone end's the war, c) another big time character shows up?

First spoilers of chapter 580 appeared on OneManga

someone didn't read the rules because reading is overrated.

But we aren't allowed to respond to this as well^^

I really doubt Shanks and Mihawk are on the same level. After seeing Shanks "hold his own" with WB and now Akainu, all with ONE arm, that puts him far ahead of Mihawk.
Just because we haven't seen Mihawk do the things Shanks has doesn't mean he can't. I stand by my original assessment that they are still relatively close in strength and ability. The only thing that will convince me otherwise is one beating the dog-shit out of the other.

Who what where? I didn't quote anyone. Those who feel guilty can correct themselves. If that's the case i will delete my post. If not… Oh well!

Not a word of spoiler but already 70 members are waiting in the spoiler discussion section to get their first post! or something.

It would be fun if Enel decides to fall from the Moon with his army of chibi robots.
Other than that… yes, it would suck.
What about Luffy's mother?
-
Shanks stopping Akainu was exactly like Rayleigh stopping Kizaru.
Was it clearly said that Coby has haki ? We saw a "wave" emitting from him and a marine fainting, but the wave could be Coby shouting and the marine could be one between many that are falling one by one after losing to the pirates. He could even be the one that someone was trying to save just before we saw Coby/Smoker/Tashigi !? I'm sure Coby will have haki some day if he wants to become the future Sengoku, but if he was using haki after realizing about those voices in his head, then he is already ahead of Luffy when speaking about mastering haki, cause Luffy doesn't have a clue of what he is doing…
-
@Sean:
LOL!
Awesome stuff. Can anybody direct me to the original video of these guys please? Haven't seen it in ages and forgot the name of it.
-
Someone has an idea for the tournament.
-
No, definitely not. I'd just like to see that video again.^^

Where is the those marine that fainted? Obviously it isn't haki..Take alook at this page, he fainted when shanks appear =.=

@Sean:
LOL!
…..You know what's funny ? That comparison made me remember my old thought from YEAR ago- someone is fucking stealing someone's ideas. Dead serious. Year ago Luffy was out, and so was Ichigo and Naruto(to some point). And now in the same week chapters at the end appears a character quite important in the story and who can help. You can find even more duplicates in crucial twists timing if you compare other chapters. :ninja:

Delete Me .

If there is one hopefully the joke won't be shitty like last year's one.
-
i suggest it will be like:
"okay guys, today the tournaments starts…"
everybody:"whuhuuu hell yeah!!!"
admins\other guys:"wuharararara:devil:, right into our trap!" -
Is there a possibility to see a Ben Beckman vs Van Auger Fight?

I just read through the entire arc again and I've developed both a small theory and a prediction.
The theory is about Law's presence. I'm guessing that he is here for Jean Bart. When Law first took him in, he told him that his freedom was the result of Luffy's actions. They decided what to do while watching Luffy on the screen and arrived purely to take him away from the battlefield (thus he asked to save Luffy even before he could fully assess the situation).
The prediction is about the fate of the marines. From this chapter, we can definitely see a present divide in the philosophies. Evil justice vs Good justice. It feels a bit obvious, but I think this split is going to play a big part in the aftermath of the war. Think about the reactions of the marines to Coby's and Akainu's actions as well as the war in general. I doubt they will be quick to forget about either and that their beliefs will be addressed when they start to settle down. Smoker addressed the divide and the Coby/Akainu scene exemplified it. The sentiment had been present before, but now it just feels like it will be more important and on a larger scale.
-
I think a certain literary device sums up what happened in this chapter pretty well…
deus ex machina

No, it doesn't. Like I said before:
@Me:Shanks wanting to prevent the war was foreshadowed more than a hundred chapters ago, and him wanting to interfere directly with it was explicitly told to us during Impel Down. Whitebeard dying was enough for Kaido to lose interest and let him come freely. How is it a deus ex machina at all.
basic storytelling in pirate cartoons = rocket science apparently.
-
A question:
On page 7 in the Mangastream version Coby says a single voice has dissappeared, but in the Franky House version its voices.
Which one is right? I'm guessing the FH one, because a whole bunch of voices dissappearing make smore sense here.Oh and on that page Tashigi looks like Robin. I really thought for a second "WHATS ROBIN DOING THERE?!" xD.

I have to admit, I had forgotten about how Jean Bart had been freed.
This makes perfect sense.

People keep complaining that Coby's actions are just like Vivi's in Alabasta, but I'm not seeing it. Just because he's telling them to "stop fighting" doesn't make him a total loser who drinks glasses of whine with Ace.
Sure, the situations are similar, but Coby's was way braver for a number of reasons.
1. Coby was in the middle of the battle, Vivi was way the hell over on a clocktower.
2. Coby is an extremely low-ranking Marine standing up to extremely high-ranking Marines, Vivi was the princess and had higher status than the others.
3. Coby had only himself to rely on, Vivi was relying on Luffy and co.
4. Coby thought more dying than was necessary was just stupid, Vivi thought any death at all was terrible.
5. Coby put his life on the line to say what he believed in like he learned in the first chapter, Vivi just whined to the two armies in Alabasta.
