Bakuman

i luff you, hiramaru
-
another awsome chapter hiramaru is awsome as always also saiko's mustache was awsome
-
hiramaru's editor needs to be credited too. XD
-
He chose Miyoshi because, ultimately, she's a caring person who looks out for other people. Iwase . . . . . just wants to shove her talent in his face.
actually, he pretty much chose miyoshi because she was the less high maintenance of the two.
Of course this being Bakuman we might get some chapters all about Iwase that totally makes us rethink our opinions on her, like Aoki.
aoki was a likable and interesting character from the start. she ALWAYS had a super-strong tsundere appeal and a set of interesting flaws and quirks. she was the most complex of the female cast from the start. she's totally different from iwase–who's a paper-thin villain and romantic roadblock so far. i'm guessing she'll cause problems for miyoshi and shujin's wedding plans, too.
i still don't like fukuda much.
-
Dammit. What a waste of pages on Iwase. Aoki should stop her crazy experiments. I know she needs ideas for her manga, but damn…. get a better test subject.
I'm exageratting, but I yeah. Loved this chapter. Eiji taunts his little subjects to worship him better XD
-
@Ao:
aoki was a likable and interesting character from the start.
I hated her, god. And I didn't even like to hate her so it was just like "fuck, her again" everytime she popped up.
My opinion changed eventually though so I wasn't annoyed whenever she showed up, and then with the newer chapters involving her I've grown to like her a lot… But I did not like her from the start, or find her particularly interesting.

you have bad taste in women.
good taste in manga, apparently (hanamachi avatar).aoki had a decent reason for hating men: she was a pretty girl and a LADY, but
was constantly harassed by creep-asses all the time as a result. lots of girls lose respect
for guys because of that and vice-versa. aoki was always harsh and cold, but she was never
a malicious or mean-spirited character. shonen fans just see characters from this very narrow,
black or white, good or bad scope. she was interesting from the start for me, because she
was gray.she's kind of becoming a little too much of this blushing, otaku-friendly, doormat nowadays.
i miss when she'd stand up for herself and be brutally honest when she needed to, but meh.
she's still one of the better characters in the series, at least in my opinion. -
What does taste in women have to do with it? ._.
-
-
@Ao:
it was a joke…br0
I missed the edit, so I missed the joke. My bad XP

she's still one of the better characters in the series, at least in my opinion.I sometimes think she's getting a little too push-over-ish too, but I think she still has the backbone when it counts. Like when she bitchslapped the hell out of Nakai and took control of her assistants. When dealing with the Nakai fallout she was very much in the "icy" persona.
And Fukuda's awesome.
-

there was no edit. it was a half-teasing thing.
And Fukuda's awesome.
he has yet to win me over.
right now, to me, he's more boy band than bad-ass. -
Is the Bakuman anime getting a go for 2010?
-
Useless girlfriend with huge boobs + Gag Maniac Retarded editor = FAIL !
-
I really hope Miyoshi and Takagi to not get married… or probably breakup..
I dont like the way Takagi is handling his love life.
Although Mashiro's romance seems little out of place I thought it was a good setting for this manga but Takagi and Miyoshi.... hmm I dont like it.
Takagi is probably better off with other girls... Miyoshi somehow reminds me of Misa in not a good way. -_-anyway althuogh this manga is good I sometime feel its too unreal -_-
except for Nakai there is no way to feel the pressure of how real world Mangakes. -
What about Hiramaru? :ninja:
-
what about when saikogot sick from the pressure and overworking
-
Hiramaru seems to unreal… and I think right now he is kind of a comedy relief kind of character. and for Saiko... well I mean he is the main character and everything is going well for him except for few obstacles.. I mean he already got the attention of Jump editorial department and everything they do seems to be working pretty good.
compared to the authors of Bakuman and Deathnote they do not have any real or serious problem.Nakai is the only one who I thought reflected the dillemas of mangakes' too few spots in each magazines and too many people wanting to become mangake... ALthough I hated Nakais personality, I kind of thought that is what happened to probably 80% of every mangake wanna bes.

Next chapters on onemanga. I have a feeling something really bads gonna happen, dunno why.
-
And the new chapter is out.

! Great chapter as usual. Honestly, I don't whether to think that whole deal with Miyoshi's dad knowing Mashiro's uncle was forced or clever. But it was interesting, and Miyoshi's dad is awesome in any case. And it's good that Takagi got his approval to marry Miyoshi (of course I was pretty sure he would).
! Time to get down to some serious business though! Eiji was taunting them at the New Years party. Who will come out on top? Guess we'll find out. -
very good chapter. My favorite part had to be the last panel.
-
I didnt like it. I am tired of the fate thing this is getting ridiculous, next week Iwase's grandfather is proven to be Nakai's brother, Eiji's uncle and Mashiro's grandfather's rival. I expected more from Miyoshi's daddy. The chapter was just full of useless old stories. Good thing we are back in action now.
-
Cute little chapter. One of the running gags in this series is how everyone comment, "Oh, this is just like a manga." Because it is. This is just another example.
That said, I'm glad we've gotten parental approval out of the way, and our boys have another ally in their camp. Now go show that Goddamn Fucking Homewrecker what for!!!
I was tickled by the fact that they seemed the most jealous over Eiji having Hattori as editor. Like he stole their girl, or whatnot. lol.
-
it was an a good chapter but im slightly disipointed well i guess weve just been spoiled the last couple of weeks
-
-
good chapter.
Not much to say. Miyoshi's dad is a pretty cool guy and i'm glad he approves of Shujin. Old stories are interesting, but i'm more concerned with the other mangaka than past relationships. Best part of the chapter goes to Eiji and Hattori taunting and brushing off Ashirogi at the party. The plan is going swimmingly and hopefully the pair will pull through and give Natural some competition. Nice to see they've got Takahama on their side (hopefully he isn't bitter or depressed about his manga getting canceled.)
best panel of the chapter:
-
Nother good chapter. Packed to the gills with content, etc. etc. Insert usual praise here.
! "So you're sure she's not really pregnant?" Amusing line to stat off with. The old stories and family development were interesting, right along the lines of what we've seen before with all the other parental figures so far. But lets face it, we're all here for the current manga kids.
! Best line is definatly "Saiko! You have to beat Miyoshi's dad in a karate match!" and the resultant facial expression. That had me laughing for quite a bit.
! And I commiserate on the whole "A kid who's good at art in class is still only better than the other kids in class. He realized how much he sucked when he tried to go pro." Been there.
! And the Hattori/Eiji scheme seems to be working like a charm. Hilarious AND awesome at the same time. Good stuff. -

@Gorgeous:
The art seemed to be off in this chapter, drawn badly.
Part of it is wacky facial expressions, and that its a dialouge heavy chapter, but a larger part is that its a bad scan. The lineart is fuzzy, the backgrounds are faded out, and all the ziptone is blurred and runs together in a nasty washed out pattern, and the lineart loses a lot of its edge and details.
Bad scan, bad cleanup.

A real page turner for me. A lot was crammed in this chapter. Hatori seemed a bit cold in the end though. Hell even Eiji is starting to act cocky to the point of obnoxiousness.

That was their intention. They want to ignite a fire in Ashirogi, so that they'll create a better product. And it's working splendidly.

This chapter was pretty good. Kinda leading into the new arc now of whatever this whole "battle between the rivals" is gonna be. Like Shuujin said, he's not really used to Gag manga, but it seems to be what they're going with so it's either gonna end up altering what kinda manga it is mid-way through or they'll just have to find some way to make it universally popular.
I do hope everything doesn't go Iwase's way though and she evolves a little bit from being a total bitch… Hattori's plan is good but it could get out of control, too. -
Random coment, I love the fact that they show the little icon from the series, it helps me identify them.

new chapter's up on onemanga, i wont say anything about it for now tho cause it seems like no one's read it yet
-

usual praise indeed.
New assistant is… well new. Nothing substantial from him yet.
But man, it really seems like Ashirogi is in a rut because of Tanto. I don't see things going good for them soon. Shujin definitely seems to be affected by the rivalry though
-
I think if they evolved Tanto into being less "pure gag" and added some adventures/battles into it, it could do well. It's got a good starting premise, why not go from there?
And LOL at poor Hiramaru, the man is just a puppet. Oh well, at least he gets the honors of being the first anime. And sorry, Hiramaru, but Aoki is already Fukuda's. Every chapter just inches them closer. glee
That said, I'm looking forward to this "recluse" becoming a more prominent figure later on. I'm glad that Skeezy Editor is nudging him out the door, because he would add definite fire to the status-quo going on. Right now it remains to be seen if he'll be a villain or an ally, but I could definitely see Team Fukuda befriending him and showing him there's more to life than video games.
As for Iwase, well, I do hope she makes some scathing remark about manga (cause she's obviously not in it for the love of it), and Eiji puts her down. Eiji's is probably the only personality forceful enough to get it through her thick skull.
-
That new guy was great !!!lol..
-
Chapter wasn't as good this week, IMO. Seems like the series has been moving at a slower pace, relative to past chapters, despite being packed with dialog. Well, primarily on the Ashirogi front. The recluse guy has had an intentionally slow build, for example, which is fine. Most of the other developments are moving along decently in fact, but every week I expect Takagi to have a breakthrough story-wise and it never happens. Like Gecko, I don't see that changing particularly soon, especially now that Tanto's first chapter has released with seemingly less emphatic results. I almost get the feeling they will flop again, only to go back to their roots by inventing "Bakuman", as it has yet to play a part in the series. Who knows though, the authors seem to know what they are doing with the story, so only time will tell…
-
Damn, there was a shitload of content in this chapter, between the wrap-up of the New Years party, the new assisstant, the focus on Natural and it being the next Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh, and the Recluse whose name escapes me at the moment. Oh, and of course the implication at the end that Hattori may be the "evil" mastermind behind some greater scheme.
DUN-DUN-DUUUUUUUUUUN!!!
Oh, and Takagi and Miyoshi are officially married now. Yeah! :D

I have to agree. Seemed like a whole lot of nothing this week to me.

eiji is the best character forever

Whoever said Hattori's scheme was evil? He just wants his guys to succeed, to become pillars of jump. That's what he's aiming for.
And yeah, Miyoshi! I'm glad to see she stuck to her guns and got Takagi to sign that marriage license. Iwase's gonna be one unhappy customer when she finds out.
-

That's why I put "evil" in quotation marks. I know it's not really an evil scheme, but the way presented it with the aura surrounding him made it almost seem like it was evil. Get it?
-
I have to agree. Seemed like a whole lot of nothing this week to me.
But there's so much to it. I like Bakuman when it takes a minute to breathe and there's not even a hint of melodrama. These characters are all fantastic and chapters like this give us an opportunity to just appreciate all that's going on in the manga.
-
I'm going to go ahead and blame all there problems on Tanto. Because it doesn't fit them. At all.
I know they're going to drag this out so they can make a decent story arc out of it but how hard can it be for Tashagi to work out that he's really not good at doing gags. You'd think that after getting no original ideas in twenty days he might consider, I dunno, doing something else? Because at the moment Tanto seems destined to constantly fall below their competitors in the manga ranking charts, which will make for a few depressing "WHEEEEEEEEEERE HAAAAAAAAAAAAVE WEEEEEEEEE GOOOOOOOOONA WROOOOOOOOOOOOOONGGGG?????" chapters.
Also, do all the other Shonen jump mangas still exist in the Bakuman universe? Because if so, I wonder which of the Big 3 got knocked down into 8th position this week.
