Awesome! I like the design of the dresses and your smooth linework. I guess you're right about Nami, her head is a little smaller proportionally than for the other two, but really, your anatomy is pretty fantastic. I look forward to seeing it colored.
Maggie's dumping ground

Gah! somehow I missed your art thread before, you're so great!!! Thanks so much for saying nice things about my art!!
-
This is some FINE work here, Maggie! Great artwork, great inking, it's all high praise from over here! Very nice work.
-
That Valentine picture is simply amazing. I absolutely LOVE the dresses! Great, great, great job! ^^ Only Nami's head needs to be fixed a bit but the rest is perfect!
-
OMG!!! Their dresses are so pretty!!
I especially love Robin and Vivi's <3 -
OMG!!! Their dresses are so pretty!!
I especially love Robin and Vivi's <3err… that's boa hancock. >_<
-
Kinda thought that was obvious, myself…
-
I would of never thought that was anyone but Boa xD they all look soo pretty and wonderful!! I especially like Robins outfit the most :D
-
hm, it just occured to me that the dresses can be white. I originally planned for all of them to be black with red hearts, but white might be nice too. Nico Robin's is definitely black, but what do you think about the others? Hmmm…
Ugh my boyfriend thinks robin's face looks awful. Now it's bothering me urgh!
-
Robin's face looks fine! What is your BF looking at??? They're all drop dead GORGEOUS DX!!!
-
Robin looks perfectly fine. So Elegant. And I love this pic so much. Pretty Pretty Dresses are one of my…uhm....kinks. So I love this so much!
-
err… that's boa hancock. >_<
Lol sorry, I have a cold right now. Makes my brain fart facepalm lol
-
wbUpGoOjFWw
Wo-hoo! They look really sexy and yet very elegant!
I love how you drew the muscles around the legs and shoulders! And the faces of course!
Keep it up, please! -
I adore that picture of Nami, Robin, and Hancock they have AMAZING outfits and proportions and all equally beautiful _ I really like Hancock the best I think!
-
Maggie's drawings rock. Keep em coming….I know you're busy with school and work but yeah....we appreciate whatever you can share.
-
didn't get to color it yet, but here's the clean version. Kinda a big picture, but it looks horrible smaller
[hide][/hide]
Boa hancock seems to have changed a lot to me, I'm really sad >< I'll probably tweak her a bit to make it look more like the original. Nami looks a lot better though.
Hm, just added some monotone to the eyes and lips, i think it really helped. They look normal now ^^ -
Oh wow! It looks even prettier cleaned up <3
-
god I still love Boa the most __ what a beautiful expression
-
thanks! I really can't wait to color it. my sister decided to visit from Hong Kong so I've been strapped for time, plus for art class we're copying masters and it's taking soo much time. uuuughhh… I would rather be doing fanart than THIS, let me tell you:
ugh ugh ugh I wish I had copied this with chalk instead of graphite. >_< -
I HATED doing stuff like that in College ==; I thought imitating masters was a HUMONGOUS waste of time, for starters, it didn't help me learn how to draw ONE SINGLE BIT =_= your drawing looks exactly like it, so don't take it the wrong way, yours looks REALLY clean and nice xD Just personally, I hated doing things like that too, I know how you feel ==;;;;
-
Oh, that looks amazing! <3
Uhhg. You have to do that in college? D: That sucks. Personally, I hate the idea and concept of copying. I like to analyze pictures to see how I can improve myself, but I don't like copying. My idea is that, if you have the skills to draw, then why not just draw your own stuff? Why copy someone else's work when that won't benefit you at all? Uhhg. =3=
-
Oh cmon! Figure Drawings are FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
That looks fantastic! I know I can't expect you to do more stuff like that, but I really hope you do!
For graphite that looks pretty good. You'll learn a ton to apply to your fanart-shading/value wise. And the process of studies isn't to copy. You're to analyze, measure, and focus on what you are observing, not what you are copying. You learn valuable things from doing observation studies; rendering a drawing with multiple values(shades), learning the human figure, and or still life's mechanical make-up. What makes it move, what makes it still. How does it effect the objects around it. How do the objects around it effect the focused object. You're not simply copying, you're observing the object, and it's surrounding negative space. You learn a TON from it.
But sure, if people would rather want to draw what they want to draw, go for it! Whatever makes them happy, but this is just as a career-stand-point of view. You need to do studies to get better with the human figure, down to every inch of anatomy. This is of course, so your figures, drawings, pieces of art, have character in them, so their characters show movement, so that movement shows weight, so that weight convinces the viewers mind that he is looking at an interactive piece of work.
But I agree, I'd much rather do studies in chalk/charcoal/conte than graphite. Just because of the much more broader range of value available. And of course you're already brilliant with anatomy, so ignore everything I just said lol you already know this.
-
Your art is fabulous <3
I would be majoring in art, too, but I'm horribly indecisive and lazy so nothing would ever get finished. The style you draw faces in is lovely.
-
ahhh finished my stuff for class and then class was cancelled X_X Kinda half-assed the last bit of the picture (spend over 3 hours on this? i think not!), rendering was taking forever and I just didn't want to put that much into it. Then I had to reinterpret the drawing in a new way, so I made it bold and more modern (something very fast and easy… can you tell I'm such a hard worker? LOL). At least I'm getting more confident in drawing things I can't erase at all. I no longer have 'the fear.' XD
I guess this project was boring but I can't say I didn't learn something (don't use graphite ahaha ). Plus I really don't think there's anything wrong with learning from copying a master. They REALLY knew what they were doing, whereas I DON'T and can't claim to know anywhere near as much as they did. Hence 'Master' and '(lazy) Student.' Gotta agree with DanialG. Figure drawing is FUNNNNNN. Which did make me HATE this a bit. It didn't have that organic quality since I was copying, and it neglected to capture the same feeling and mass. If I did it from life it would have been much better. I totally agree also with learning what makes something move, still, outside forces, reaction, muscle contractions, settings, atmosphere. Such amazing stuff. SO much to learn, and I'll never learn enough. So depressing. I've decided I'm going to try to soak up everything artistic like a sponge, and get something out of everything I do, see the appreciation in it. I try to think that if I did a project and didn't learn something, that's a fault with me, not the project.
Since the break between classes I forgot how hard it is to really concentrate on what you're drawing. Anime/Manga is soo easy to draw >_< Drawing from life is hard. As soon as you learn the foundation of art and figure, drawing manga becomes like child's play. You know where everything goes, and since it's so simple and stylized, it's just a welcome break.
Edit: PS, thanks everyone for saying it looks like a good copy! That was the purpose, so I hope my teacher agrees. To copy, learn the artists lines and technique. Unfortunately, quickly mapping out the mass and structure of a body is hard to do when it's not in real life and you're copying something else >_< Also I think I'm going to make more OP drawings of the characters in nice clothes. A marriage of 2 things I love ahahah
Also DanialG, do you have an online portfolio? Just curious to see it ^_^
-
ugh, I always hate when my teach makes me copy the masters. I think the worst was when one teacher made me copy a painting right down to the brush strokes. I hated it D:
You did a really good job with it though. Obviously you have more patience than I
-
Yep, so that time again. I always whip out a bunch of drawings when I sell stuff (as I like to include some art with a sale). Then I just start doodling and then hours go by and then I'm drawing smut LOL! My boyfriend hooked up my scanner, and I just remembered that, so here's some pictures! By the way, I drew the Iva-chan and Sadi-chan ones on this new Strathmore Bristol 500 Series paper. Any artists out there, YOU MUST GET THIS PAPER. IT IS A DREAM AND I WANT TO LOVE IT AND HOLD IT AND ALWAYS HAVE IT BY MY SIDE. 500 series + ink + copics = artist porn. Need more copics, I only have like 10 colors >_<
And uh… buy my plushies XD and you may get some stupid OP fanart like this! <-- shameless
Nami (not done on the 500 paper)
[hide][/hide]
Luffy
[hide][/hide]
Iva-chan (sorry, color is off, outfit is a bit off. mehhh)
[hide][/hide]Sadi-chan (ok, what am I supposed to do, draw her reading a book? Don't blame me, blame the outfit)
[hide][/hide]
EDIT:
uuuugh whyyyy ROFLMAO[hide][/hide]
-
That Sadie is super-sexy! _ Love it!
-
Lol, pants don't go all the way up, I frequently find that amusing ^_^
love the Nami you just posted too, so simple, but very sexy.
-
thanks folks! the nami and luffy were already sent out to forum members. hope they like them and don't just throw them out ahaha
-
I LOVE your Sadi-chans! (boobies<3) You've got some awesome talent!

Pay me ahaha with what money? You buy so much merch! Draw me handsome but not blatantly oversexualized ace mmmm -
LOL glad you like him. I hope he doesn't look too old and still handsome >_< first time drawing him, I'll make you a more decent one with sengoku <3 want me to make him younger or look different?
Pay me ahaha with what money? You buy so much merch! Draw me handsome but not blatantly oversexualized ace mmmmoh my god… YES SIR <3 and FFF YES YES YES to Garp and Sengoku xD they can both be their wonderful older selves, Sengoku angry at Garp but Garp finding it humorous or annoying him in some way u must think of idea for Ace... I promise it won't be like naughty just handome/sexy as I can xD
-
Nice Garp _
I still have keychains I promomised to send you haha ^^; Do you still need them?
I vote for drawing Devon .-. -
AW I will SO draw you Devon! XD ugh the website I host my pics on is down… It should be back up soon...
-
So what about keychains, heh? :P Should I send them?
-
not until you approve my devon drawings. I drew 3-4 drawings of her. She just looks ugly LOL! I mean, it's how I interpret how she looks, so it's not 'wrong' per se, but I didn't want you to get angry that she's not beautiful >_< I keep looking at other fanarts of her and wondering how people got that from Oda's drawings. I just see her the way I see her, I don't know if it can be helped. This is how I draw her (the one in the different line style is my boyfriend's XD):
[hide][/hide]
and a doodle I got around to coloring finally ^_^ My computer coloring skills are non-existent, but let's hope they improve with my guy's help…
-
Oooooooo~ _ Lovely! Thank you so much!
Hahaha she's not pretty by any means, don't worry. But there's alot of charm in the way her face is. I think you did her lips too big :) Otherwise it's pretty much on spot. Chibi ones are great hahaha <3 And the one (I think?) your boyfriend did, she looks like an Orc/Troll lady from Warcraft hahahaha -
Ok, great! you like the originals, right? I'll make one and color it with copics for you. Any idea of her color scheme? I could only find like 3 pictures of her in google images search and I don't have the Japanese manga that she appears in yet. Do you know what chapters she's in?
Yes, my boyfriend was wondering what the heck I was drawing from since he saw me drawing in my sketchbook. When I showed him a shot of her from the manga he said, "she's impossible! I have to draw her too!"
-
W-wow!! Your art is incredible, how the hell did I miss this thread?!
Seriously, I'm sure you already know, but you have a great style, your ladies look so elegant and sexy, and homg I love the way you color!! u
Lovely stuff!!! <3
-
More pathetic photoshop newness. I really want to get good at it but damn. I don't even know where to start. My OC celia @ the beach:
[hide][/hide]
and thanks kaneriderneko! You probably missed my thread as I don't post too too often so I'm not high up on top that much XD
-
yep. did some pictures for packages/sales to send out. buy something from me, get a worthless sketch LOL! the pictures might be a bit off, took them with a camera not quite from above sigh Getting more used to copics. they are awesome. so awesome.
non-OP ruroken picture of kenshin that I've been messing with. the image is all stretched out, needs to be wider. sketch on left on better paper than the one on the right.
[hide][/hide]
-
So Maggie, your basically fantastic, Would you be interested in an art trade perchance? I know I'm nowhere near as good as you, but it could be fun
-
Not sure if you know this, but a good way to get used to copics are to use their cool greys and just use a color overlay once you have all the value done. But you're doing good so far with them.
Which copic set did you get? I'm thinking of getting them since they're refillable.
-
wow, haven't checked this thread in a while… 6_6;;
uhm, not sure what copic set, I think it's C or B. It's served me well, when I have time to use it...
did two timeskip stamps, working on an ace custom, a picture for gold digger, and some stuff for figure class. Stamps are about 30-50% smaller in real life.
[hide][/hide]
Nude:
[hide]
[/hide]nude actually looks a lot better in person @_@ need to fix the head still, didn't have enough time in class. Had to get all the shadows right on the body first. My figure drawing teacher is actually commissioning me to do some stamps. SO strange to me.
-
please tell me you finished this and posted it somewhere
-
^ sorry, no, not yet. I was going to make a spread of it, and now I'm not sure.
Was just doodling some pictures to give away with packages to get my lines back (been drawing from life almost completely lately, I feel like I've forgotten how to draw anime/manga esque) and I actually might keep this one of d. rouge:
SUCH a shame it scanned like crap. The copics are so nice with these muted colors. The computer scanner killed it. It's very subtle in person.
edit: almost forgot, I'm working on some spreads to sell at otakon. The first one is Alvida (for some reason LOL) and I'm going to put the buggy crew & ship in the background. I'm really proud of the hat. Yep. I hate drawing hats.
