Yes, but given that everyone else in here immediatley jumped at it and knew what it was, I assumed it was a culture thing and there might be some firsthand experiance to tell.
Upon wikipedia-ing the thing. A whopping 5 volumes were translated here back in 1995, and it ran in newspaper strips for a year in to the 1978. And the cartoon was apparently here… never.
Yet overseas... as I expected, it is huge. Like Tintin. And the Carl Barks duck stories. (Yes, Ducktales was popular, but apparently the comics are ridiculous in Britain.) And Lupin III. And to a lesser degree, Smurfs, which are only known here for the cartoon and not the comic. And other such international cultural icons that have run for decades that we have no clue about here.
The lead looks vaugley familar, but yeah. Totally a blank slate on this, for once.
