Okay, so there are threads for Heroes and NCIS so why not House? I've noticed that it's pretty popular around here.
So, the season premiere aired yesterday. What'd you think of it?
It reminded me a lot of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 
. I love how well the people acted, and actually sympathized with them. Especially Freedom Master (?). Him
! jumping off the building… was really shocking :sad: .
I don't watch House at all, but that was a powerful episode. I got attached to so many characters and this was just one episode…. and there's a chance we won't be seeing them again either.
As someone who works in medical diagnostics, I object to the creative license often applied during the show. It promotes misinformation that ultimately carries on into the real world.
If House stuck with the medical literature on diagnosing symptoms it would rank as one of the best prime time entertainment shows I've ever seen. But only something like 30% of the episodes are scientifically sound. There are enough diseases out there that don't require sensationalizing. True, most of the big bads have similar symptoms, but House was never about diagnosing really obvious, famous diseases, right?

When I tune into House, I come for the Hugh Laurie, and I stay for the Hugh Laurie.

I wish he had stayed for more than one episode.
Even more, I wished that I had come in when it started rather than an hour late.
Even so, t'was an altogether fantastic start.

I saw the premiere an hour and 15 minutes in but it still seemed like a good episode. I liked it but the rapping scene with Greg and Greg pushing his face in a cake seemed to borderline out of character, but the rest of it was a great way to recover in an asylum.
I stopped worrying about House changing his character after what he said about the man crush by his roommate. "Don't. people already think we're gay." Silence, then hug. I could like House 2.0
In my experience people who are working in medical field agrees with Terek's view about the show. Although I probably shouldn't generalize.
I haven't watched the show that closely but whenever I have seen an episode I have liked what I had seen. Fun stuff. One day I will start to watch the show from very beginning.
A friend once gave me all the episodes of the seasons that were out. Unfortunately my computer crashed a few days later and had to return them T_T I'll ask for them again when I see her. It's such a fun show.

As for the show itself, since I really only catch the repeats on USA, I have no idea why House is in a mental institution. Anyone up for giving a brief summary as to why?

This aside, the premier was phenomenal, I loved it, I like the new serious House, but even so, I have to say the whole "people already think we're gay" was very scrubsy.

That was fantastic writing, fantastic direction and fantastic acting.
Amazingly executed.
My biggest critical point with House is that nothing really ever changes no matter how much it changes.
So for them to actually make House turn over a new leaf after being threatened with imprisonment, insanity and even death and REFUSING to budge, it had to be dealt with incredibly carefully and even though I'm not a HUGE House nerd that could point out similar scenarios that didn't change House in the past, they made me believe the character actually wanted to change.
Bravo.
Excellent job all around. I would have paid to see that in a theater.

There was this one episode of House where a guy thought he had carpal tunnel but it turned out to be leprosy. You could always just get treated for leprosy and hope that that's really it.

This week's episode wasn't as awesome as last weeks. It was still good though.
I haven't seen this show from the beginning in any kind of order, I just watch re-runs on USA and started watching it regularly last season. Hugh Laurie …I have ...an old man crush on him. :> So cute~ I wish there was a flashback or something so I could see Kutner again. ;-; I guess I'll just have to watch Harold and Kumar or something.

foreman is just showing his selfish, jerk-ass side again. was that season 3 he stole cameron's work, and then stuck her with a needle so she would get sick like him and find him a cure. He acts professional, but deep down he's a jerk.

Nah, the thing was, he tried occupying himself by fucking with Wilson. That was his 'crutch' AFTER the TV binge. But even that didn't work, which is why he turned to the internet thing.
Seriously, if after ALL that and 6 years worth of show, it wouldn't have been worth watching if they had him fall back after 1 episode.
That's interesting about Cameron and Foreman, Kairouseki, I never noticed that! I only came on after the team was dissolved so I never got to see them together.
greg, go back and watch the other seasons. I think the older ones are actually better. these last few seasons were a little bland to me. cept when he hired the 30 people and kept eliminating them. that was fun.

I gave in, curiosity won and I watched these last two episodes. Was fun and I think I will keep watching. Still, I probably should start from season 1.
One thing which weirded me out tho was how in the latest episode doctors went to search the patience's office for drugs or whatever :sideways:. Jeez, doctors are pretty hardcore in the US. At least in tv shows.
