I hope a merman/maid will join Strawhats, hopefully the musician Luffy's dreaming about.
One more thing left unfinished(actually, this will be solved after W7 Arc) : New Ship n New Name for the ship

Don Krieg, yeah, they have to cross Red Line.
Have it been pointed out somewhere in the serie that Jinbei in fact lives on Mermaid Island?
Ivotas, why should Luffy fight Shanks by the way, they don't even have the same goal, and consider each others to be friends (at least from Luffys side)?!
I would love to see the final fight in the serie be between Luffy and Koby. Would just be so freaking awsome. And to come to think about it, didn't Coby say that he was going to become the admiral of the marines?

I don´t understand why people always doubt that. When Kid Luffy promises to Shanks that he will become Pirate King nobody questions it. But when Kid Luffy (in the same breath) promises that he will beat Shanks everybody starts to question it.

Imagine if towards the very end Ace and Shanks (and his crew) joined under the Straw Hat's banner. This would allow them to take on multiple shichibukai or admirals at once and progress the story faster in epic fashion. Of course Luffy would have to do something to prove his will stronger than theirs and inspire them to join, but I doubt it would be beating them down, just something to convince them that he is the man who should get the One Piece. If Luffy saved Shanks' crew from a stronger enemy, for instance, this would be the same as defeating him in a sense.

What if Jinbei is a huge merman?
-
The story probably will get cancelled if it carries on at this speed, or get something that against all logic makes it go at super speed. I still feel like they only just entered the grand line.

I'd not like that, a huge fat ass is the last thing we need. but if you mean he'd just be really tall, above normal human size, that'd rock
btw, the combination of your avatar and the name don krieg gives off a cool feel, just so you know

oh thanks. ^_^
What I means is that is he a giant?

Watch Jinbei be opposite of Arlong and love humans.

Haha, I remember some people throwing that little theory around before. I wouldn't rule it out, but seeingas how this guy is not only a pirate, but is Arlong's former captain, I have a feeling that he really wouldn't give a damn if you are human or not. :)

Luffy still has so many people to beat.. the shichibukai, the blackbeard crew, shinbei, whitebeard pirates, the marine admirals, some as of yet unknown enemies,… Every one of them taking the average 50 anime episodes (like the pace is now - dunno the manga equivalent) is impossible. I'm really wondering if Oda is gonna do something drastic to speed things up.. the Shanks/Whitebeard get-together would seem like such an opportunity, especially with the marines wanting to stop this, and probably sending some of their top dogs to do so.. And then there's even more that needs to find its place, like the Ohara incident, Dragon, Luffy's kin (father, grandfather?),.. Suddenly being halfway seems nowhere at all :P

We assume that Luffy has to fight every potential villian in his way. It's entirely possible he can skirt some of them, or find alternative means of passage– like bribing them to leave the Strawhats alone, or offering a quid-pro-quo for their safety (we'll go against your foes if we see them, in exchange for being let past)
-
Yeah that's kinda the point I wanted to make.. it's doubtful that he's actually gonna face all of them, even though they're all "in his way" (for his dream).. so probably something a bit more xtrodinary is gonna happen - like some of the things you said, although my guess is still on some major infighting between the top, after shanks and whitebeard meet.
-
Well we know that one Shichibukai will not get beaten by Luffy. I´m talking about Mihawk if you are wondering who I´m refering to. So I don´t see no reason why there couldn´t be another Shichibukai that won´t be defeated by Luffy.
Personally I´m still betting my money that Doflamingo and Kuma will work together. They appeared together at the Mariejois meeting. I mean Oda could have had also made them arrive there seperately as it was the case with Mihawk who came alone. I just doubt that it was just a coincidence that they came together.
Other than that the highest known bounties in OP are Luffy´s 100 million Berry, Kuma´s 290 million and Doflamingo´s 340 million Berry. Doflamingo´s and Kuma´s bounties are just to close to each other to be a coincidence. True there is 50 million Berry difference between these two but since both are that damn high it appears that they are close to each other.
And since the word coincidence and Eiichiro Oda don´t fit together I think that the fact that they came together and have these high bounties indicates that they are working together. If that would be the case then Kuma would be reserved for another Strawhat to get beaten up by.

Who's to say they were together the entire time? They probably arrived separately at the Marine HQ & were transported to Mariejoa in a Marine ship together. As for them working together, I dunno.. they seem like rather large opposites, especially with Doflamingo, who seems barely able to cooperate with the top tier of the Marines and took pleasure in killing his former crew mates.
I dunno, Flamingo just seems too fringe & untrustworthy to hold up a partnership like that for long.
-
There is a New Pirate Age coming, Luffy and xo would probely get tangeled in the sitution.
Oda need to let ethier Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Robin, Sanji, or Chopper beat major villians because it's chliche' to have Luffy doing it himself. Nami could had beaten Eneru or Crocodile with her weather clima, Chopper alone could have beaten Wapol, it would be fun to see that.

It isn´t stated that they´ve been traveling together. So your guess is as good as mine. However the fact that they appeared seperately from Mihawk just gives me the impression that they work together. And as far as them working together is concerned. Who knows what Kuma´s intentions might be. Maybe he is to Doflamingo what Nico Robin was to Crocodile.
I dunno, Flamingo just seems too fringe & untrustworthy to hold up a partnership like that for long.
Neither was Crocodile. But then again neither was Nico Robin. It was a matter of who´s going the turn the back on the other first. Don´t see why it couldn´t be the case here since we have that little info about those guys.
@Jul 10 2005, 10:53 AM
Don't remember him saying that. Didn't he just say that his crew is going to surpass him? And as Mihawk says, you can see how a fight would end without even starting it.
__Erm, how do you know you´ve surpassed someone if you don´t powers? For instance Mihawk´s exact words are "Surpass Me!" and yet it is clear that this will only happen through a fight between the two. So why should it be different with Luffy and Shanks?
But anyways there´s no need to waste time on analysing the mainings of the term surpassing. If you click here you can see what Luffy´s words were. It´s at the end of page 49. Other than that here´s a screen cap from that very scene in the anime

Sure sure… but still Luffy hasn't a real reason to beat Shank exept to compare skills. So even if they will fight, it will probably not be a so blood filled fight like with Arlong, Crocodile and Ener.

Yeah that's definately possible.. the problem is credibility. I mean, how much stronger have the strawhats really gotten? Crocodile was the little brother of the shichibukai at 80 mil and it took immense effort (and luck) to take him down. It'd be pretty lame if for example Sanji took down Kuma at 296 mil in the next arc..
-
Uhm, why? Oda said that his bounty should have been like the double (162 at least then) if he had been a pirate now. And Crocodile had a stupid power, Kuma maybe just reley on pure strenght.

Robin Stjenberg already pointed that out what I wanted to mention though Oda said that his current bounty should have been twice as high as the last official one which would mean around 162 million Berry.
But anyways. Eversince they´ve defeated Crocodile and Baroque Works the Strawhats have moved on to Jaya, Skypiea, Longring Longland and now Water 7. And I´m sure that we´ll see yet another short arc before they encounter Doflamingo.
So by saying that the Strawhats faced Enel and the God Warriors, the Foxy Pirates, Aokiji and now CP9. I would even go that far to say that the fight with Bellamy was good for something. I mean even if Luffy and Zoro didn´t move a muscle there their character grew a lot more with making the dicission not to fight. And the Aokiji beat up was also not that bad. It showed them that they still have a long way to go. It´s like with the beat up Zoro became from Mihawk. It was what he needed to become much stronger. So all that said the Strawhats I´m convinced that the Strawhats are now already stronger then when they´ve fought BW at Alabasta. And CP9 isn´t defeated yet so there´s still room for becoming stronger.
Other than that, I´m sure the fight with Doflamingo won´t be over in two chapters. It is more likely to assume that it will be another mega arc in which Luffy and company have to struggle hard to surpass him (and Kuma maybe). -
Yeah, some of the Strawhats have maybe not become stronger with mucles, but like Usopp, his determination and therefore his ability to fight better.
I wonder if the next mega arc will be the largest in the serie. So far Skypiea is the largest with 7 chapters more then Alabasta, but W7 will surely be longer, the large fights haven't even started.
-
It could start soon since they just reached Eneas Lobby.
-
Well, I hope that the whole Shanks/Whitebeard thing don't impact the ending.
-
He'll probobly have to beat Shanks to become Pirate King….....
-
Was Shanks actually a significant pirate at any point though? He may have been a pirate, but it doesn't seem like he was more of a "local boy" hero, than a truly strong pirate. Does evidence exist he's even on the WG's radar, for example?
I'd see a re-encounter with Shanks as an opportunity for him to apologize for patronizing attitudes. He knows when not to fight, and Luffy probably doesn't need to press a fight, as long as appropriate respect is shown. He's shown himself as responsible in that way– he doesn't fight without a good reason.
-
shanks is one of the great pirates. the WG definaltly has a eye out for him. to show how powerful he is, he's got a newbie who's bounty is about as big as luffy's.

Check book 25. The five older stars refer him as a big threat.

I wonder how powerful Shanks is…. Does he learn any Rokui or something?
-
Learned WHAT?
-
I think he meant Rokushiki.
And no I doubt that he learned that. It appears that Rokushiki seems to be a World Government secret agent exclusive thing, so I doubt that Shanks might be familiar with it.

There was something interesting mentionned in another forum about this. There might have been a hint to Shank's power that everyone missed, when he intimidated the sea king by just looking at him. Maybe he has some kind of "doujutsu" (eye magic - you best have seen Basilisk to appreciate this). Obviously not a DF power, but maybe he has a hypnotic effect through his eyes. Just an idea ofcourse.
Another idea I heard is, since he got his arm bitten off by a sea king so easily, that maybe he's rather weak but a "mastermind" of sorts which is what makes him so dangerous. Like in the real world the highest bounty is on Osama's head but I doubt he can fight for shit. Something like that.
And no I doubt that he learned that. It appears that Rokushiki seems to be a World Government secret agent exclusive thing, so I doubt that Shanks might be familiar with it.
Yeah, whatever power Shanks may have (if any), no doubt it's something unique.
-
I doubt Shanks is weak. It cant just be because he's smart. And besides i think
he was to afraid for liffy's life to care about his arm at all. Also notice that Shanks
didn't even say "ouch"
