@Shaman:
actually in no way would you be masking the bitterness. unless your given some thing to clean your pallet and the you can enjoy your just desserts
I wouldn't consider the dessert earned if the main course had been ill prepared.

Does anyone know where the 'Next Crew Member Speculation' thread went?

the one who ordered it earns their dessert. so why blame them for a meal they didn't make.it is their silver lining for the night.
Ahh yes, I sometimes forget that words vary from place to place. Consider yourself forgiven. You still misused then/than though, so you aren't scott free~
Indeed. Than is a tricky old bugger which I forget to use frequently, especially since it doesn't tend to come up in the spoken form.

You made a wrong turning at Albuquerque.

I had assumed the chef would taste his own meal first and on finding it to be bitter, decide to remake the main from scratch rather then subject his clientele to lesser product.
Ooh, let me add a food-based saying to the mix! If the meal is bitter, so should the just desserts. Revenge is a dish best served metaphorically cold, after all.
But apparently we need a crew member to double as an English teacher.

who ever said the person ever paid for their meal.why should a chef put his way out for a person he never met and to add to that not even paying.as a great mercy he even gave great dessert.
Now I'm just getting confused, so check please!

Don't forget, the dessert is a subset of the meal, so really you would be talking about the starter/main.

But a true chef would not allow something bitter to leave his kitchen, free meal or not.

oh but where have you seen this true chef.finding anybody true to their profession is a rare find.

Actually, it's quite common in the uk. I've been in a couple of resturants where you can hear the chef shouting at an underling for making a dish not fit to go out.

stick to the topic we are talking about true chefs:getlost:
Actually, let's drop the cuisine and move back to speculation. Forget what their chances are (for a moment), who would you LIKE more as the next crew member? My choice would be Margaret, for the moment. I think she would be a great addition…to Luffy harem.

Same, I would like Margaret to join even though right now it's quite a longshot. She definitely has the humor of a SH.
Her fighting, we'll have to see more of and she can definitely improve, I was hoping for a female crewmember that's a fighter near the level of the monster trio but she's nowehere near that level from what we have seen.
Out of those choices though I do think that Jimbei and Hancock have the highest chances.
Luffy harm? I think you're missing a vowel in there.
Well, Camie is useless on land, and we've already seen the troubles of that from Sabaody. She has no dream that involves sailing around the world, and doesn't really seem to be much use to a ship other than as figurehead or ultrasonic fish bait.
Hatchan is already living his dream, and was set up as just another guide character for Fishman Island right after Kuma vanished the Straw Hats. And well, I hate to say this, but we've already got two swordsmen on board. We don't really need a third.
Hancock…I've covered her to death. We all know about the island being her responsibility since we've been over it so many times. Aside from that, her personality gimmicks, I find, get real stale, real fast, and my final mark against her is that her personality and disposition does not mesh with the Straw Hats one bit.
Jimbei...I've also gone over him quite a bit. I just can't see him as a Straw Hat. I've already gone over my infamy ladder piece and how he doesn't fit in quite a bit, and I do feel that he's too powerful at the moment (and before anyone brings up the weaker on land bit, if you have to give someone a handicap like that for every fight they're in to even things out, something's wrong). I do want a Fishman on the crew, but this isn't how I want that to come about. It just feels too convenient and easy. Plus he's too big.
Marguerite, well, as I said before, she's the one I can actually see fitting in with the crew personality and disposition-wise. She's got a unique skill and a rare power, though it would require some expansion to make it something other than simply arrows that are as strong as cannons. But the big challenges to this are that the narrative keeps on moving further and further away. But hey, there is a chance, abeit a small one, that we could end up back on the island after this story arc is settled with, since it would be convenient for the characters to rest up (especially since Luffy's going to have a monster of an adrenaline crash after the Marineford arc is over), and Luffy did say that he'd bring his crew to visit.
Meh, my cents.
No clue what you are talking about…
Margaret is the only one in that list I would like to join. She's also the only one in that list I can see joining.

But what role on the ship would she take? Weapon imbuing engineer
Hey, it's not like Zoro does anything specific on board the ship other than sleep.

I agree, her abilities are unique enough, and she's strong without being too powerful. She also had the right kind of chemistry with Luffy and seemed curious about his crew and the world beyond Amazon Lily. Too bad she got left behind, there's very little chance of that ever happening now.

Archer. .

Indeed. I'm assuming Luffy will go to Saobondy from here. I don't see where he'd have the chance.
I think it's impossible for Marguerite to join the SHs simply because of her kintama obsession… imagine what happens when Sanji meets Marguerite... OP will no longer be a manga suitable for kids.
And Brook asking people for their underwear doesn't have the same effect?
Difference is when Brook want panties the girls won't show it to him while Sanji on the other hand…
I think if Marguerite becomes a pirate someday, it will be as a Kuja pirate, not a Straw Hat pirate. To me, her chances of joining ended when she was depetrified and she still had no ill feelings towards Hancock. And about Luffy saying he'll come back with his crew someday, I think that will happen after Luffy becomes Pirate King; that just seemed similar to any other island that the Straw Hats have left and the people there ask for them to visit again (Cocoyashi, Skypiea, Arabasta, Water Seven, etc.).
Camie, after she toughens up and gets some fighting skills after the Fishman Island arc. The fashion designer, bout time Zoro changes out fo taht disgusting yellow jacket.
And Brook asking people for their underwear doesn't have the same effect?
I think BakaFish is actually refering to the fact that unlike Luffy, Sanji would actually want to show her.

Maybe Nami starts to be jealous… :ninja:

The gag could be that now that he's getting a taste of his own medicine, he's left in quite a state of discomfort.
Archer.
Why would we need an archer? We already have a sniper and weapons expert (franky)

It's Luffy.
Well Margaret would be cool… She is hawt!!!
But Jimbei =/ But even I doubt slowly that he could join... We need more of him.

Well Brooke has another roll too, he is the musician and in battle he uses both sword and music to fight. I see what your getting at but unless she has another skill worthy/needed then I cant see her wanting to join or being asked. I think its most likely that the next character to join hasn't been seen yet.
I just realized something, Crocodile could join, you know, he does respect Luffy's power.

Luffy asked Gaimon to join.
Talent is totally pointless, it's whether he likes them.

He should join as captain, with Luffy taking a demotion to first mate.

@Darkstorm
Luffy does ask people he likes, but don't you think its odd that they just happen to be needed in the crew? Its just one big coincidence on Oda's part I'm sure.
I'm seriously thinking we need a sarcasm bootcamp around here.

Robin's talent is totally useless for anything but her own dream, so I disagree there.

I thought I recognised it somewhere, oh how the tables have turned.

So translating the ancient text is useless? I think so far its had little use but Robin will have her time to shine, and maybe sooner than you think. Plus she acts as the ships library, not officially but she is a well of knowledge that the crew draw on often.

Chopper would be a great example, they needed a doctor yet Luffy picked him for a totally different reason (giant monster reindeer)
Yeah, Luffy didn't "just happen to need" a swordsman, a sharpshooter, or an archaeologist. Anyway, seamstress!

I'm going to bring back my ninja analogue joke that I made after chapter 522 came out. Doing stuff being smoke/dust screens and running across rooftops at night is 100% ninja.

Not bad, I don't know if this is truly needed but why not, after all they are moving up in the world, why not get some cool knew threads. I still stick to my opinion, most of Luffys decisions regarding crew were because he liked them, not because they were needed. (Franky I see as an exception)
Still like Marge and like her more than the all of the other names being thrown out there but it's really out of sight out of mind for me.
The next and I'd guess final male nakama to join should fight Luffy. I want Luffy to get that determined itch he had with Zoro and Sanji. Where even if his ship is taken he'd let his crew handle it just to get this one specific guy. I'd say Luffy's mind frame at this time could work around the fact that he knows he needs to get stronger and that his crew needs to get stronger and after the war he realizes he has a long way to go.
So he meets this strong guy and he doesn't get all that friendly with Luffy. Luffy's not taking no for an answer. Simple fight, Luffy wins and the guy joins, if the guy wins something of worth is put on the line like the ship or Nami or his straw hat lol. It's a real fight too, not some Luffy vs. Zoro for 3 seconds or Luffy vs. Usopp and Luffy takes the hits. Think Franky vs. Luffy but it goes longer, gear 2 & 3 used; NO HAKI.
Are you attempting to write a fanfic or something?
Are you attempting to write a fanfic or something?
lulz. Not at all. I have a visions, that sometimes come to fruition and other times get shot down.
Don't see why it can't happen. You could argue that could've been the case if Zoro wasn't that situation and instead they just crossed paths.
Jinbei will not join!
He is too fat to get through the Sunny's doors.
