Bradley just chopped up Buccaneer's automail like it was butter; wouldn't be surprised in the least if he could cut through Greed's shield. Yeah, I can't see anyone beating him in a one-on-one melee fight. I guess Roy could probably just blow him up over and over like he did with Lust and Envy, but I can't think of anything else.

Well, Ling got him with a Flash Grenade way back when, and he can't predict EVERYTHING with his eye… otherwise Ran Fan's trick with severing her arm wouldn't have worked. He's not unbeatable; he can be outsmarted.
-
Awesome chapter. Father's "true form" freaked the hell out of me. But I think it's awesome how Hohenheim is using the souls in his body to help defeat him.
Also good to see Wrath again, and seeing him take down a tank no less. I didn't expect him to go up against GreedLing, but it is very fitting. Greed gets his rematch and Ling gets to go up against him to avenge Ran Fan and to prove himself as prospective ruler of Xing.
-
I feel horrible for buccaneer.
One second I'm celebrating his badassness the next greed/ling shows up and I forget all about him.
-
Holy shit, Bradley was awesome. The way he just killed everyone and destroyed a tank in less than a minute!?! You can see why he's regarded as the strongest homunculus (next to Pride) and Pride isn't as badass and cool.

I think we are all in agreement that wrath can be outsmarted and that's what it will most likeally come to with wrath getting into a strap made by Greed/Ling. If memory serve's me right didn't ling actually evade and return blows with bradley?
-
i love the chapter but how the hell can he cut through anything if his sword is just a sword.its one thing to cut people up but to cut tanks and survive through a chain saw attack. thats kind of seem bad.unless its part of him or something

Duh, he hears the "breath" of all things and thus can cut through anything, just like Zoro
-
I think Wrath is attacking the weakpoints for massive damage.
But, geez, he took out soldiers who are way more heavily armed than he is and he did it face to face, and uphill.
-
The sign of a true
artificialman, I suppose.Though I am looking forward to his impending demise.
-
I just hope wrath ends up getting the shit beat out of him. If he falls into a trap and dies i'm gonna be pissed.

bradley can cut through greed he did when he raided the origanal greeds hideout and about his sword mabey father made it using alchemy so its super strong

Anime Opening 2: Shows Manga characters+ upcoming scenes

lol darn, and i was getting attached to the first one. even starting to memorize it. can't wait for the subbed episode to come out today/tomorrow.
-
Let's just hope that now that the anime has finally reached the manga chapters that they'll STOP with all this bs cutting out and editing. It takes me everything I have to sit through one of their butchered episodes.

i wonder what this will do for me, who isn't caught up to the japanese manga
-
tbh 2 chapters an episode is too much they really need to slow down
Nah, two chapters per episode can still work. Sure, it means that some scenes get cut, but as long as they're careful about WHAT they cut out, I don't think it'll be that bad. At least it's better than the 3/4-chapter episodes we've been getting for the past few weeks.
Also, the new opening is awesome.

They shouldn't cut out anything. Them cutting things makes the story inferior. This is exactly why Manga is almost always better than the anime.
-
Yeah, lots of great action shots and previews in this opening. I did have to lol a bit when they showed Mustang's group and they gave Breda a hotdog.
And anyone who expects an anime to follow the manga 100%, panel-by-panel is just kidding themselves.

I expect them to not cut out the panels that give the series its unique charm therefore not reducing it to some generic anime.
-
I really don't want to get into an argument here, but the things you were complaining about earlier were just throwaway lines and scenes. Hardly butchering.
-

Uh huh, have you seen the episode before last? They cut out the first meeting with Bido, Izumi talking with the doctor, Al running around in the factory, Al talking with that girl inside him, totally mixed up the confrontation with Greed, badass Izumi beating the shit out of everyone, Sieg beating the shit out of Croc man for hitting on his wife, Ed going to Southern headquarters and meeting the Fuhrer. If that's not butchered, I don't know what is.
-
It's called distillation and compression, not butchering. Butchering would be if they had just chucked the entire plot out the window had had made shit up wholesale. I agree that the Greed arc could've been improved as far as pacing went, but I do not agree that trimming or streamlining stuff qualifies as butchering. Butchering is what 4Kids does by showing a complete disregard for the source material.

Nice poster/banner, where did you got it?
BTW, the anime never really did cut anything from the manga. Remember that time where people were complaining about that hospital scene that they think they got cut early in season 1? Well, it end up being shown after all

No it IS butchering and you shouldn't have such low standards on what butchering is.
So far the anime has:
Cut out a ton of stuff and we're not talking about a panel here and there but entire sub-plots and sub-arcs.Moved around events in a way that makes barely any sense.
Modified events for no reason.
Made new filler for no reason.
This is grade A butchering. What 4Kids did was grade A+. They may not be chucking the plot out the window but what they are doing is arguably as bad. They're chucking out the style, emotion and heart of the plot making it into some generic anime with barely any emotion. Example, because of their moving around stuff, Izumi never hurt her fingers and we never get that touching scene of Ed looking at her fingers in sadness despite the fact that it was a trivial injury. This shows the extent of the care and respect he has for his master when he gets pissed when she just bruised her fingers. A great emotional scene and unashamedly they threw it STRAIGHT OUT THE WINDOW.
This anime was a great opportuntiy for Bones to correct their mistakes with the 1st anime and they're just throwing it all out the window with their blasting through manga content and throwing out and chopping up and twisting up the series like that VG cat comic of Luffy being twisted to some deformed robot. The only reason I'm still putting up with this tripe is for the small chance that they're gonna clean up their act when they get to new content which is highly unlikely seeing vecause of all their blasting through, they won't be used to the show's style.
Honestly, this is an awful anime. It really makes me appreciate what a great adaptation the One Piece anime is and what an awful company Bones is.
-
Sigh, that filler was used to reintroduce the audience to the characters, and it also foreshadowed a ton of manga elements that never made it into the first series. You're really blowing things out of proportion if you honestly think a few little ommissions here and there completely warp and strip the characterization. I've seen plenty of series that have done that, and this is most certainly not one of them.
I see that you're part of the unbendable ''They Changed it Now it Sucks'' crowd, so farewell, in the future I'm not even going bother with you on this subject. Goodbye.

Listen to yourself! A FEW omissions. Is that really all they're doing? If it were a few omissions, I wouldn't even be opening my mouth. Let's look at the gathering of Mustang's men Breda, Fury, John, Riza. Rather than seeing them chill and relax and do their thing, they up all prim and proper in his office. That's blatant stripping of characterization. The amount of cutting out, editing and filler adding that Bones has been doing had long surpassed from the first non-filler episode. Look at Nina's death. In the first anime, I was really shocked and appalled at what happened to her and greatly saddened when she died. In the second anime? Didn't feel anything because they rusehed it to hell and I read the manga first for the record so no, it's not because I knew what was gonna happen. This is what happenens when you cut out emotion and build-up and blast through everything, you feel nothing at climaxes.
Seriously, a FEW!?! I'm still reeling through that laughable statement. What you are is someone who has way too low standards and/or doesn't give a damn about the heart and essence of a series as long as the main plot points are intact i.e you like generic anime with robotic style execution and monotone characterization.

wow alot ofpeople are blowing things out of proportion

After the Soul Eater fiasco, expecting a faithful adaptation from Bones is crazy. Better forget the manga and enjoy it as it is.
Of course, prepare yourself for a terrible ending too. -
I believe I told him (Lion) the same thing along with telling him to stop following the series if he couldn't handle some of the changes and yet here we are…again.
-
After the Soul Eater fiasco, expecting a faithful adaptation from Bones is crazy. Better forget the manga and enjoy it as it is.
Of course, prepare yourself for a terrible ending too.…The manga will probably end before the anime does. I mean, they've gone into what is very obviously the climax of the story at this point, and I doubt it'll take more than a year for it to wrap up. Besides, being that the entire point of this remake is to have an anime that follows the manga, I would assume that we'll be getting the same ending in both.
-

The One Piece anime is a great adaptation. They totally capture the series' essence and style. You can tell this just by watching any filler episode. The jokes are totally on style with Mr. Oda's jokes and they capture the series's atmosphere perfectly and this is a a filler episode where it's much harder to capture the atmosphere than in a manga episode. The only draw-back the anime has is the art and pacing and even the pacing issue has gotten better recently. They're still going by a one chapter per episode thing but it seems like they've gotten used to pacing so episodes no longer feel stretched out and they add some very interesting and engaging filler that you'd think that would totally have happened in the manga.
The Full Metal Alchemist anime? Nope, none of that. They blast through content ad don't even slow down tot ry to get to the essence of the show. The essence of the series is all about realism and exploring the characters of common people and exploring the more humane aspects of the characters briging things down to earth and giving it a pleasant charm. The anime just throws it all out and shoots the atmosphere down to hell. That is why it is such an awful anime. Even if they stop rushing, I doubt they'll be able to capture the essence of the show as they won't be used to it.
-

-
what was this?
and lion, i thought the OP anime took things out, that the manga has? if so, your being hypocritical
Eh? Since when? Sure initially in the beginning of the series, they took out things here and there and re-arranged some stuff (the things that come to the top of my head were in the Arlong arc with Usopp figuring out the layout of the island, the Gaimon arc and the Morgan arc was a bit mixed as well as the first chapter/episode) but they were just beginning and those incidents were sporadic at best anyway. Even int he early days, they still captured the essence of the show pretty damn well (mostly because Mr. Oda had such a helping hand in matters as he himself has confessed in the SBS). These days, with the manga and anime being so close, you'd be hard pressed to find them cut out even one panel (the last one was one panel where Brooke said he should play dead, that was quite a big goof though as thta panel was used later for a joke and hence the joke made no sense). Despite some errors here and there, the days Toei practically animates the manga pretty much panel-to-panel and they expand on things to make events that weren't in the manga much clearer Example, Hawkins losing eight more dolls, the way Law's powers work etc.

Of course, prepare yourself for a terrible ending too.Lol, I read some of those posts in the Soul Eater anime thread and read how some posters were optimistic that the ending won't be awful despite all the signs that it was clearly going to bad. Ah well, people and their hope…

Given the clearly high budget each episode gets, it's pretty safe to assume the anime will be limited to 50/52 episodes, ending in April '10. That's what i was expecting too, but is it really possible to wrap up the manga in just a few more chapters? Hopefully so.
What worries me is that Bones is still cutting things out, and the preview for the next episode shows scenes from 3-4 chapters ahead. That said, the anime is still pretty good so far. -
uhhh, when is someone gonna release a dub for the new episode. it's usually out by now. :\
-
Well, they have to slow down at some point, since by August we're going to be in Vol. 10 territory, which is a little less than the halfway mark. Some of the material, like Vol. 15 with the Ishval flashback, could probably fit relatively comfortably in one episode, though. The recent chapters have been mostly action, so they could easily fit two or three of them in a single episode.
What are they going to do…

I see nothing wrong with this anime adaption to me it's by far a thousand times better than the last anime adaption of this series. For god sakes at least the battle's in this one flow and don't look like a bunch of blocks hitting each other. I mean the battle's from the first series looked stiff imo. No matter what your not going to get a completely faithful adaption of a series or novel. Sad to say but it's true. People will complain if it's too faithful and people will complain if it's not faithful.
-
i think the argument of one piece only cuting stuff and changing stuff early on seing as this is the start of fma b
-
But Gepetto they're [Bones] are taking out scenes even non important ones that gave the manga charm, emotion, style, & good characterization and ultimately leaves Brotherhood feeling like another generic anime adaptation complete with robotic style execution and characterization that comes off looking woefully monotone.
[/sarcasm]

Wow… You are the embodiment of the "They changed it, Now it sucks" Mentality...........
-
I think the idea's more like "let's get through the early part fast because people have already seen it". Why do you think… 30 or whatever episodes was 14 episodes long. They're doing an essential "recap" more than anything in order to continue the manga story without just saying "Ok, crop off the last 20 episodes of the first anime from 6 years ago and we'll start in the middle from there." It's more to introduce stuff and add in the new content that was changed. I really doubt they're gonna crop off stuff from the parts past here, once they get to the characters that weren't introduced and all. Really it isn't trying to say that stuff "didn't happen", they're just not showing it in THIS anime.
-

Actually, like i said, we're already on new material and they're still rushing and removing whole scenes from the manga.
But then again, maybe that's the only possible way to cover the story till the end in only 50 episodes, assuming the manga is truly ending, that is.
