Real swords are nice to display, but NOT good for use at a convention. You can't take them out of their sheaths, so it's much better to go with wooden swords. I can see if you're going to hire a photographer to take photo's of you in a place of your choosing though, but real swords are not con friendly.
Tokyo in Tulsa was pretty awesome for the one day my sis and i got to go, besides myself and my sister there was 2 other One Piece cosplayers, one was a fairly okay Luffy, the other was a could-of-been better Zoro, but props to them for cosplaying One Piece I suppose XDD Other than that the only other cosplayers were Naruto, some Bleach not very much, Soul Eater, some really half-assed Pokemon cosplays, and then a random series here, a random series there.
The walk on Cosplays weren't that great..infact someone cosplaying as 'NO FACE' from Spirited Away one SECOND PLACE in the walk on category.. FOR REAL Tokyo in Tulsa?? FOR REAL????? I was very angry at that, sorry, but there were actually BETTER cosplays than that believe it or not. There was only ONE really good skit, it was a cross over between Metal Gear and Ouran Host Club..and god damn.. I am a Metal Gear fanatic..I even like Ouran..and I almost DIED from laughing, I hope I can find a video of it on Youtube..it was the ONLY good one. There was some faggoty Naruto skit that they tried to be funny by making a fag skit with the tune of the Lion Kings 'Oh I just can't wait to be king' except, 'I just can't wait to be Hokage' It was ass, could of been better..maybe I just hate Naruto soo much I didn't care either way.
The group cosplay was really nice, only 4 groups though so choosing 3 winners wasn't hard xD There was an XXXHolic group that ROCKED it, and then our friend Serena and her friends got 2nd place as the most awesome Sailor Moon cosplayers at the con.
My sis and I got pictures taken by Skypirate in both our Luffy and Nami, and My Little Pony's, but he doesn't have those pics up yet XD I can't WAIT to see them ___
We didnt' end up getting to wear Law and Kidd due to pissing off our mom greatly when we asked if we could attend the con Sunday where she went off on us, so we decided NOT to go back to Tulsa Sunday and wear them -_- I feel like a total asshole douche to my sis who wanted to cosplay Law so bad.
I did hopefully make it up to her by buying her One Piece stuff which I was SHOCKED to see at Tokyo in Tulsa of all places O___o I got her the Unlimited Cruise Usopp figure, and I got her a Brook, Luffy and Chopper keychain, and I bought this set of One Piece prints from a REALLY good artist and she's getting Usopp, Luffy, Brook, and Chopper xDD What a shocker there!! THEN someone had the set of figures that has two versions of Skypeia Nami, two versions of Vivi, and Conic and two versions of Nojiko. I didnt want to chance it since they were random figures..but..but..I wanted Nami SOOO BADLY since I was cosplaying that version minus the whole 'I'm not wearing a bikini thing' x_x; First I got Conis which I was happy about..then..I bought another one and crossed my fingers PRAYING it wouldn't be Vivi..and..it was. Fuck. Then my sis bought one and got Nami. I couldn't have been happier, god and it was the blue normal bathing suit version too which made it even better.
All in all, Tokyo in Tulsa to me was almost better than Akon swag-wise, there was no faggoty drama, but then the draw-back was no One Piece friends to hang with and take horrible picks with xDD
Looks like the con season is over for us this year sadly, while many of you still have about 3 or 4 to go to xD Our next con might be AX depending on when it is, other than that..no clue..
