Sorry, I've done all the justice I can do for the admirals, for the time being anyway. Pun intended :D

Right on one count!
Today is a two for one sale.
Snake Man isn't as flashy as some of the others, but the feng shui of the group was demanding something green. That's a Search Snake in his left hand, and… well that's it. Not much to talk about? XDBack, top, and progress:

I didn't have high hopes for Needle Man, but holy cow did he have something to prove or what. I fell in love and eloped with those smooth smooth legs from the second they came into form, but then I couldn't resist having an affair with those ammo belts. I really have to thank Ariga for giving an otherwise goofy Robot Master so many awesome details.

saw yer ava.
came here.
That Needle man is fucking perfect! Keep up the good work sir!!
-
Wow, I must say, EXTREMELY impressive. I've sculpted wings and outfits, but never entire figures. I applaud your skills. O_O
-
Realy detailed work on the platform, and the rest is just felicitous.
But still i hope you will make again some OP stuff soon. -
@Don:
But still i hope you will make again some OP stuff soon.
Well, I think I'm done with Mega Man for now, and hopefully we'll soon be getting some new post-timeskip designs of old characters, which I would totally jump on (although I'll never do a Strawhat crew member).
So here to finish off my set of 10 Robot Masters is Burner Man.
He's 11 inches to the tip, and the pose is based on official artwork. I also tried to burn the base a bit around the feet for a charred look.
Back and Progress:

Shot of the final three as wire frames, and completed:
!
And because I won't be doing more of these guys for a while, here's a group shot and a shot of the fire-based ones:
-
Burnerman's pose has oodles of personality, but his flames don't look as nice as Fireman or Heatman's

Good to hear..
How about doing the first chara we`re introduced in the new world whoever it will be? -
Dude you are
fuckingawesome! Keep on the awesome projects, you are a legendary artist in my book. It's no wonder you got into Oda's volumes… Keep doing this or that and who knows what might happen!
-

Yeah… I wish I knew how to do see-through resin or whatever people use. That would have been perfect for the long propane-type flames.
@Don:

But we'll see!Dude you are

It's no wonder you got into Oda's volumes… Keep doing this or that and who knows what might happen!Well thanks! I don't know what'll happen either, but apparently I'm starting to fill out business school applications soon, so… low chance of a professional art career in my future. Oh well XD
Final piece before senior year of college? Maybe.
Okay, so, I watch a lot of TV, and the shows I watch tend to have some pretty awesome protagonists (Greg House, Jack Bauer, Dean Winchester, etc.), so I decided to try to step up my game by delving into the realm of real people's faces. This is, of course, Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the hero of the book series and the Showtime show. Here is wearing his trademark gray kill shirt with the top two buttons open. Obviously I have a lot of work to do, but not a bad first attempt, huh? Apparently real faces aren't that different from cartoon characters'- just more details that need to be paid attention to. I think I can at least say that my interpretation is better than the official action figure and/or bobblehead.
-
Looks good! My only real suggestion might be to make the mouth more distiguishable. Maybe add a little bit of sculpey for lips? idk :>
-
Wow. I just discovered this thread, and I have to say, your shit is AMAZING. How much for the robot masters?
-
Hey C3, have you ever thought about sculpting Cooler from Dragon Ball Z? I think that his overall design would be a good challenge.

Fantastic work CCC
I'm going to paint you a picture:
I'm sitting, with a glass of my favorite red wine, listening to Schubert, and enjoying your art! I'd say you're in good company : D
PS: On using paint, I think you have developed your own style using the colored clay instead of paint. When people paint sculptures sometimes it turns out like a stale plastic figure. Your figures have personalities!
Anyway… Keep it up!

@Zoro's:

Heh, not for sale at the moment. Get back to me when grad school debt is forcing me to live on instant ramen. :P

"C3." Heh. That's kinda catchy.
Honestly I've never considered doing any DB characters (besides Perfect Cell and Kid Buu, which are my favorites, design-wise) because there already exists so much excellent merchandise/figures based on the series. One of the reasons I got into doing OP [art] to the extent that I did was that at the time, there actually weren't a ton of official representations of many of the characters, especially the villains. I'm certainly not going to knock Cooler's design, but I know there are already some great figures of him out there, and I tend to choose my material based on characters/series that I'm heavily invested in at the moment.PS: On using paint, I think you have developed your own style using the colored clay instead of paint. Well thanks! People on deviantart have suggested paint on multiple occassions, and although I never gave in, I've always had a nagging suspicion that I was just being close-minded. But when you put it that way ("your own style") that makes it sound a lot better XD
-
You are awsome.I could even make Croc's hook right. You have a lot of talent and patience.

I love you.
Also start watching Breaking bad, lots of inspiration there.
-
Okay, so I've made a liar out of the thread title, but who cares.
I don't specialize in drawing by any means (I don't think I've seriously drawn anything in about 10 years) but I just loved the Fake Strawhat swap-in scenes that started showing up and wanted to do some of my own. So yeah- these are just meant to be funny and not necessarily high-quality (they're done with a sharpie ultra fine point on printer paper <_<).First up are Sanji and Nami + Luffy, in some of their respective crowning moments.
Also start watching Breaking bad, lots of inspiration there.
Yeah, my mom watches it and says it's great <_<
I'll give it a try at some point XD -
Yeah, CCC
Keep those drawings coming hahahaBut iam already hyped to see your version of Gregory House..god dammit dude, i rly hope that step you
re taking right now to model real person will make you even better than before. (not that you
re already in my book for "god dammit how amazing is that") -
What the heck is with this thread?! Your works are AWESOME..
I love that Dexter stuff and the drawing.. Oh, please.. It's moving me..
-
Holy crap Dexter, that was awesome
And yeah I second Breaking Bad
-
Thanks guys! I'll definitely continue the real-life actors series when I get home in December.
And Don Quichotte; in a way I honored your request by doing a piece of art with the "first new character after the timeskip," even if it wasn't a sculpture XDMoving right along with the Fake SH crowning moments series:
-
@CCC:
"C3." Heh. That's kinda catchy.
Then that's the nickname I'll call you.
@CCC:
Yeah… both Luffy/Ace and Forte violate my never-make-full-figures-of-protagonistic-characters rule. Silly, I know, but if by chance I overcome my stubborn Taurus nature, you guys on this forum will be the first to see the results!
Thanks! XD
But didn't you already violate that full-figures-of-protagonistic-characters rule when you sculpted the full body of Ace getting pierced by Akainu? :wassat:
@CCC:
Honestly I've never considered doing any DB characters (besides Perfect Cell and Kid Buu, which are my favorites, design-wise) because there already exists so much excellent merchandise/figures based on the series. So correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean that as long as there are very good figurines and professional merchandise of a character than you won't sculpt that character? And if there aren't any official figurines of a character than you might consider sculpting that character?
Fair enough. So what character don't have figurines made…... hmm.....
How about the psychopathic twins Hansel and Gretel from the Black Lagoon? There aren't any figurines of them that have been made, the most is just some paper craft model that somebody made....

Theese sculptures look so fun~
I tried making some once, but I´m terrible at it, and I´m a quitterMaybe it´s because I´m hungry right now, but I want to eat Kaku…And the washing mach..err Heatman...

@Mr.333:
But didn't you already violate that full-figures-of-protagonistic-characters rule when you sculpted the full body of Ace getting pierced by Akainu? :wassat:
Basically I'm going on a fool's errand if I try to properly explain my ridiculous "rules" that I go by (in that case, Akainu's presence made it ok, because he's a villain).
Essentially I sculpt things that I am personally interested in to a great extent. If I've never seen the source material that a character is from, I'd never do that character. If there's already tons of merchandise for a character, the likelihood of me doing that characters falls, and I'd have to be doing them in some sort of innovative pose or diorama situation if I'm going to do them at all.
In short, that's why I could never be a career artist; when you do something for a living you can't have a hissy fit and quit whenever you're asked to do something you aren't personally interested in. That, and I don't have a single original idea in my head.In other news, I fixed the fake SH dialogue (just copy-pasted from the original manga pages instead of typing in MS paint).

He looks like the kinda guy that would get hit from behind anyway now that I'd think about it XD

I just pray that you will be one of those people who will love Vasco after he had more screentime.(and finally his coloration is shown by Oda) -
I hope no one minds that I'm posting these in the Ye Olde Fake Strawhat thread and this one.
This next one took quite a while (an hour for the meticulously-detailed top panel alone) but I think it was worth it.

I just pray that you will be one of those people who will love Vasco after he had more screentime.(and finally his coloration is shown by Oda)I probably will! But he'd better have a good power/fighting ability as well.

My brain hurts from that last one

Your art is great! :)

Your art is great! :)
Thanks!
On deviantart you mentioned that you saw Akainu + Ace in the volume 60 gallery. May I ask where you saw that? Was it on the internet or in the physical book?I'd kind of like to see it myself…
-
Ok. Finally received volume 60 (thanks to crease).
Oda's comment is: "How loathsome- that scene in 3D!"
I'm actually pretty happy with how the picture came out. It's not surprising he chose one of the ones with a light background. -

Haha, how awesome. And of course it's loathsome with the 3D hype going on and all. Thanks god they didn't put HP7 up in 3D…
Man, you're great for getting into the japanese OP manga. _______

Oh, so Al!na is not alone with the Oda-appreciated-arts?:blink:
Congrats!!
You and your sculps are so awesome.
-
Thanks all!
I've got three weeks in which to do projects now, so here's the first.
It's Quote and Curly Brace from the beloved Cave Story. The scene is heavily based on the official art, but I used my own designs for the Spur and Nemesis (guns).Additional shots: (nsfw….?)
!

This is just too awesome!
-
Hey, dude, you're up on Tomopop!
-
This is just too awesome!
Thanks! I'm glad at least one other person here knows Cave Story :D
Hey, dude, you're up on Tomopop!
Holy moly! Tomopop and Protodude's Corner (whatever that is XD)!
I wish they'd messaged me on DA or something (not for permission or anything, just to let me know); I would never have found out if not for you Conekiller, so thanks!Hmm… I guess that explains the sudden favebombing of the MM stuff on deviantart...
-
Tomopop's affiliate, Destructoid has a link to the article at the bottom as well. He's not just famous, he's internet famous!

@CCC:
Thanks! I'm glad at least one other person here knows Cave Story :D
I just had to check in after seeing Qoute in your avatar. It's probably one of my favorite modern oldschool title next to La Mulana.
-
Okay. Kind of a weird one here. It's a self-portrait (self-sculpt?), done as accurately as I could manage. Included in my typical outfit are these [relatively] skinny jeans, Doskoi Panda shirt, black leather gloves (it's cold where I go to school), and green workman's jacket adorned with Umbrella and Capsule Corp patches and a heart-shaped zipper pull. The earring and soul patch are also true to life. The alternative paper bag covered head does not come included, but will be available as a DLC in a few weeks.
Alternate head, shoes closeup, jeans closeup, top view, and self-indulgent group shot of me surrounded by my powerful minions.
!
-
You all bet we`re powerful!
Hell yeah!(btw CCC, did you add yourself that JoJo-zipper on your jacket?(real life))
-
It's actually from a line of zipper pulls made by Kid Robot (hipster toy company) called "Dangerous Things." The collection included knives, guns, bombs, and the odd one out- the heart. And yes it really is on my jacket.
-
It's been a while, but I've just had my spring break, so here's an art explosion!
First off are the four projects from the first real sculpture class I've ever taken, which just concluded this winter. They're mostly abstract, weird, and very much unlike everything else I do.
! Sad Sac (plaster + chicken wire + motor oil)
!
! Imperial (wood + spray paint. Materials were limited to a "line," a "plane," and a "mass," + base)!
! Necrosis (wood + gloves + saw blades + beef jerky + wax)!
! Falcon Kick (wood + me. The structure had to touch the floor in only three places and support my body weight in an interesting and otherwise non-maintainable pose)!
Next is another addition to the Mega Man Robot Master set; it's Tornado Man from MM9:
!
Then I've got a few more indy game heroes and a compilation shot of all of them (VVVVVV's Captain Viridian, Braid's Tim, IWBTG's The Kid, SMB's Meat Boy, and Cave Story's Quote + Curly Brace):
!
And finally… last but certainly not least... Captain Falcon (no explanation necessary I hope?):
!
-
SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!
Now that that's out of the way: awesome stuff as usual!
Sad Sac reminds me of the Where the Wild Things Are movie.
-
Good to see some new stuff from you…i like your abstract work.."sad sac" and "necrosis" rly is fantastic.
Would love to see some more of that bizarre art. -
Yo, great to see your Robot Masters show up in the Mega Man Tribute book! I almost dropped my book when I saw your stuff in there! They even make mention that you've had art featured in the Japanese One Piece!
