I've been to a few boring conventions. They were small cons, so not many attendees, panels, people, and exhibits. Very small industry presence, as well. Smaller cons are supposed to be a little more intimate, but too small, and you just feel like you waste your money.

I don't know, I varies for me. Yule con was not very big, but I had tons of fun! I mostly hung out in the gaming area, I met a bunch of people there and made friends because I was dressed as a fighting game character. That was when I debuted my May Lee cosplay, which is now GONE cries I loved it because it was comfortable and fun to wear and I got to do lots of Henshin poses XD
Izumi con in Oklahoma was another small con that was pretty fun for me, I didn't do a lot of cosplay, just my ghetto femme Smoker that I don't wear anymore XD But I actually did go to some panels, in fact! I held one of my own, which is how I was able to go in the first place. (thank you Charli!!)
Ikki con was fun last year, but for some reason, it was hella boring this year. I'm not sure why. There really wasn't anything interesting going on except for the gaming room when GeeksandDorks took it over XD That was fun. I even brought my Rival Schools game and had people play that as well XD
Both times I've been to Oni con had been awesome! And not just because of the parties for me. This last year, I did get to walk around in cosplay, I just took May Lee since I know there are lots of gamers in that area. Plus, the gaming room was HUGE! Though it was partially made of fail because of the Smash Bros. fags. The only good thing was an arcade with Project Justice in which I kicked a lot of guys' asses except for Zor of course XD And that con was where I bought my first set of Kamen Rider merch. <3
A-kon and Anime Fest have both been pretty fun, I don't tend to go to the panels much, I just like to walk around and hang out with people. I do party some at A-kon, and occasionally get drunk off my ass (lol) but I have fun at that con unless I am by myself, which has happened the first few times I went.
As for Anime Fest, I don't really party there, I just have fun with whoever I'm with, usually cosplay, and walk around enjoying the atmosphere.
I guess my idea of fun is different from most of you guys. I like to hang out, cosplay or not, I like to game and I like to party. Don't get me wrong, I like to cosplay, but sometimes I like to wear like a cute outfit with fun accessories like my Henshin belt or my goggles or a wig XD

XD ahaha I wish I could help, but those are things that are hard to find x_x;; ESPECIALLY Camera cables x_x;; Good luck though! I'm getting ready to go clean my room I think, after Akon it just became of a Tornado of cosplay pieces, wigs, and my normal everyday clothes xD I just suck at recovering, and I suck at cleaning too …ahaha..

Because I horribly procrastinated on one of my costumes the entire living room and kitchen was covered in fabric pieces and felt and other costume making junk for A-Kon for.. well alot of it is still there but I atleast cleaned out what was in the kitchen o.o;;;;

There's like.. a fuck ton of material in my room for this random cosplay or that. I have an ENTIRE GIANT ASS BAG dedicated to Paulie, all the millions of yards for his coats and pants, his shirt, 50 thousand buttons, it's a huge huge HUGE bag. I have just bags of material that sit there from other costumes that is extra, I have a bag sitting around of Renton fron Eureka 7 that is going to be remade if I have to MAKE my sister do it xD I swear I will cosplay him again!! I SWEAR!!!! Also there's a bag with ugly matted Mouji furr, one with Super Jail twin material for both my sister and myself, and.. I think that's it for material that I can name…other than that, there's just a TON of extra excess material, some material I have no idea what to do with ;___;

As I said a few pages back, I'm doing an Alabasta Monster Trio with two of my good friends in lieu of Franky (my desired cosplay) for Anime Expo, of which I will be Sanji. We bought the fabrics today, but our Luffy (who will be making the bulk of the clothes because she's awesome and I'm still a novice at sewing) insisted on getting baroque for the outer coats. And I must say, it's going to look awesome. The baroque at the fabric store was 60% off so it was cheaper than most other fabrics and although it's not quite as accurate as it could be it's going to look f***ing classy. Or at least shiny. Either way, I'm very pleased, even though my plea for simpler baroque went unanswered (for good reason).
So I'm in charge of making Luffy's sandles and mini barrel of water as well as helping our Zoro make his swords. It's fun stuff, doing a cosplay I REALLY want to do for the first time. I can't wait to see all of you at AX!

I … uh... would LOVE to but the wig I got for the cosplay is a color I've NEVER SEEN before that just happened to work really well with the pony... I was going to get wefts for the tail but nothing I could get would match that wig... it's really neon limey... xD

I choose Mimic because she has such a CUTE design and I always loved this pony and I didn't want to do a pink pony. She also has a parot on her ass… which made me think PIRATES!! and other than Mimic, Barnacle is the only pirate pony and he's a guy and I really wanted to do a girl pony ;____; There's going to be a HUGE gather at Tokyo in Tulsa though I'm pretty sure my sis and I are the only ones going xD;

oh yeah Mimic is like a pasty green color xD in person it's obvious but it's hard to tell … I actually didn't have the correct color in my copic markers so when I go look for fabric soon I'll just take my pony... xD and I have red from my Drake cape I can use but I don't think I have enough and it's more redish brown than red red... so I gotta find red =3= buuu for not being able to use what's left of stuff xD

Not sure if this is the place to ask. I Just didn't want to make a thread when the problem isn't that big.
I've been asked to do a final fantasy Cosplay so i can be part of some skit with friends. I said i'd do it if they can find me a simple Cosplay that requires little to no work from me. And i got Cid Highwind. I've looked at pictures, and i admit everything can be bought. But oh noes there are two versions So question is, which is easier to find the clothes for. Game Cid or AC Cid? Also how to make the spear?

I would say that Advent Children Cid would probably be easier to find parts for. Or you could consider his Kingdom Hearts incarnation, it is also pretty simple and actually pretty similar in parts to Zoro, so I'm sure a lot of people here could give tips on it. As for the spear.. if you are looking to spend the least amount of effort possible on it, I'm willing to bet you could find a curtain rod with a spear looking tip at ikea for not too much money. Buy the whole rod and remove the tip on one end, or you can just by the tips and stick one on a pvp pipe or something similar.

Acutaly there is no difference between FF7 and AC . . . Cid only wears his jacket around his waist in AC and actualy has it on in FF7.

Actually there is a difference. FF7 has blue jacket and a white shirt, while AC has a blue shirt and a brown jacket. Other than that no difference. Though i do think finding a brown jacket like AC is easier than a blue jacket like in the game. So yea i'll just go with AC. And thanks darkin. I would have never thought of that for the spear.

It wasn't bad for what it was, but it was WAY too damn hot. Like, 3-4 people got heat stroke. I've only got a couple pictures from it all.. we were concentrating on staying cool.

Our Luffy just finished making her Alabasta coat. I got really bad pictures of it, but as you can see, it's a bit more stylized than your average Luffy thanks to the broque. My Sanji robe (the outer one, at least) will be much the same. The color is more accurate in proper lighting, and, like I said, I got bad pictures XD The hat you see there is the backup hat in case the more accurate one does not come in time, if you're wondering why it's not completley accurate yet. The robe is the only thing completed thus far.

Me trying to make my Russia wig work for Sanji without a mirror 8D I can sun-bleach it or whatever, but I need you guys to help me determine whether or not I just need to suck it up and buy a new wig if this one doesn't work right. I can style it so it's not as poofy but the back looks a bit messed up because of the way the girl that cut it for Russia cut it, so I dunno how important it is to have the back looking perfect. I guess we're really trying to go above and beyond for this cosplay so it should be as close to perfect as possible, but what do you think? Can I pull it off? -
Okay, Palochka. I'll take your word that Luffy's coat is supposed to be more red than purple. Can't wait to see it in person.

so I told my friend that some people are dressing up as my little ponies, and he asked, one or 2 people per costume…. :\
anyways, we are having a murder mystery, and i'm wondering if anyone has a good suggestions for darkening side burns for Elvis? Someone suggested mascera, but i don't think that would work well.

Use something with a brush, like mascara, or just dark cake makeup with a brush. That way you can darken any hair on the sides. The bristles will also make a more believable texture. Hope that helps.

You can also take an eyebrow pencil/eyeliner and draw short little strokes to simulate hair. It's pretty obvious up close, but the effect can be surprisingly good once you get 3-4 feet away.
