Heh, Klab could be like the Great Gazoo. A wise cracking spirit, who only appears to Usopp.
LOL! Usopp's imaginary friend! XD
I notice Franky is catching up in the poll now. :)

I still think it's weird that they showed Klabauterman as this little kid in Water 7, but when Usopp saw him in Skypiea, the shadow was built more like, say, Kaku…
Yeah, really. "Chibi" K-mann scares the crap outta me. I'm really not looking foward to his re-appearance.

kaku is a secret agent from the gouverment, who was 5 years undercover in water 7.
that doesn't matter, he can switch sides, i mean after all all strawhats left something to join didn't they :hyper:
-
Well, this is what i think:
Paulie: he looks like an "anti-sanji", and that´s not new: we already have Zoro in the crew to fight against the cook. Besides, he doesn´t seem too strong.Franky: he´s the prototipe of "funny character", and Luffy´s crew don´t have a new funny character since Chopper. The first problem right now about him is simple: Luffy hates him for stealing their money and beating Usopp. In the Sea train, Franky is starting to get friendly with Sanji and Usopp (that fridge thing was totally funny). Maybe, when all this end and Lucci and the rest of the CP9 get their asses kicked, Franky would show the Strawhats what did he did with their money: a big ship to sail, but they need a carpenter, and who could be better for that that the one who built it? ^^
Kaku: Well…er...something similar happened with Robin, but...i don´t think that will happen again(besides, he killed Merry! Sogeking, kick his butt!)
-
I have a feeling that both Pauley and Frankey may join, although I find Frankey more hillarious than Pauley. And what's this about kaku? Wrong post, I guess.
-
I doubt the one who builds the ship will be joining.
Sorry, Franky.
-
How do you know Franky's going to build the ship? :)
-
i think galley la and the franky family will help build the new ship. but i still think paulie will join. idk, i don't see franky leaving his family and joining the straw hats. but who knows, maybe they'll both join (it may take more than one shipwright to manage the new ship ???).
-
You know I never understood that people say "I don´t believe Franky will leave his Family…" but in the same instant they expect Paulie to leave Galley-la behind.
I know Galley-la is no like the Franky Family, but to Paulie Iceburg who can be seen as the father of Galley-la has a high status. And recently Lucci and Kaku left Galley-la what already is a huge loss to the company and to the people of Water 7 who don´t know the truth.
Leaving Galley-la behind right now, would be pretty bad style of Paulie because he would desert the people who believed in him when they need him the most (to rebuilt the company).
Franky on the other hand would bring an end to a sad story that started years ago if he would leave. FF wouldn´t be the same without him, but they certainly wouldn´t feel as betrayed as Galley-la if they use the last one of the big three. Did anybody actually ever thought about that?

Besides it doesn't even matter, no matter what Oda can even make a bucket of water to join the crew as a shipwright if he wants so, it's his story after all (although an editor might disagree with his decision…).
Anyway, I have my moments when I don't care who will join but really, if I look it objectively, right now I don't see anybody else joining than Franky. Subjective, well, it's all the same :P. I don't want to settle for the second best choice.

Actually, it's the big 5… Tileston and Lulu are just as highly revered in W7 as Kaku, Lucchi, and Paulie. =)

i want both to join they are both funny!!!

well i doubt they're leaving right away. i think once cp9 is beaten they'll stay and help rebuild galley-la and the people will find out the truth. i think they'll stay there until everything is back in order. and luffy will convince paulie to go with him. idk he just seems more like a straw hat. and i can't explain it, i just think it would be easier for paulie to leave galley-la and ice rather than franky leaving his family.
-
I think if Franky left, Zanbai could step up. But if Pauly left, that'd be three big staff members leaving, while Ice is still kinda messed up and probably in danger of a future attack.
-
i dont see why so many people say franky cant left w7, zanbai already took the command over the franky family and he makes a good job but for paulie its nearly impossible to leave, it would be a disaster for galleyla to lose another chief shipwright.

We just had this discussion at the end of Chapter 368 discussion but if you don´t want to check then I´ll explain it again shortly.
Whenever Luffy saw Zoro, Nami, Sanji and Chopper. He wanted them to join him no matter what their opinions were. He wanted a strong fighter he saw Zoro and annoyed him until he joined. He wanted a cook, he bothered the hell out of Sanji until he joined. He wanted a Navigator he bugged Nami, he wanted a doctor he chased Chopper.
Only Usopp and Robin don´t follow that pattern. But then again, he was never searching for a sharpshooter and an archeologist. It just all happened.
Right now Luffy is looking for a carpenter. And he´s hanging around for quite some time with Paulie and he never even considered asking him to join the crew. OK now he has more serious matters, but before all of that happened, he and Usopp whitnessed the greatness of Kaku, Paulie and Lucci and they didn´t even bother to show interest in anyone of them as one of their nakama.
Franky on the other hand was so far introduced as Luffy´s enemy. But so was the Franky Family and right now they are on the same train, working together to get everything back. Once Luffy actually learns to know Franky better I´m sure he´ll want that walking fridge join the crew. Not because he´s carpenter but because he has cola in his belly.

Or because Luffy, forgetting the whole shipwright deal, will mistook Franky as an musician. Luffy's really forgiving person anyway, once he learn the true Franky they will probably just laugh on the fight they had.
-
and do you suppose that he will probably laugh at that franky and the franky familys actions was one of the major causes that one of his oldest and dearest friends decieded to leave them <_<
he can never be forgiven for what they did to usopp nah seriously i dont see that happening but then again im an usopp fanboy and think that any evil action against usopp should be punishbel by death :P
and i myself voted for paulie :) i sure he will join….
-
Luffy's over that. He always puts the past behind him. That's what I took chapter 366 to mean, anyway.

Why would Luffy act any different? Really, Luffy's a kind of person who just laugh on stuff like that or have I been reading a wrong series…
-
jup thats how he usualy acts and he may very well just do that but this is to me something i see as much more serious than any other things that hes forgiven before,
franky and his family has cause so incredebly much trouble for them and done real damage to the crew itself to the extent that i cant see him being forgiven with just a laugh just how i feel about it it just wouldnt feel right.i just wanna see franky beaten to a bloody pulp :P then maybe he could join after hes been punished he could be like paulies side kick^^
-
Luffy can't be mad at them anymore, otherwise he wouldn't had let them join in to the rescue of Robin. The whole thing was just a pile of misunderstandings.

If you go buy that argument then Luffy will certainly forgive him. Usopp got beat up twice. Once from the Franky Family and once from Franky himself. Luffy already made peace with the Franky Family and I don´t see any logic reason why he shouldn´t do the same with Franky
BTW, Yoska already brought up a good point which is that Usopp himself isn´t mad at Franky for that anymore.
and luffy seems more serious in this chaptere i havent seen him laugh at anything like that in this chapter hes been dead serious like for example he didnt laugh at it when he heard that usopp had been brutaly beaten and they had stolen the money he gathered his crew and beat the crap outta them and knocked down their house
If you look back at the Alabasta arc you´ll see that Luffy didn´t laugh beginning from his first fight against Croc in episode 110 until he defeated him in episode 126. When serious things happen Luffy is serious himself. That is character development.
You speak of a character change if the character stays like that after the arc is finished. Luffy was his old self again after Alabasta. He will sure be the same after this one too.Besides, even Sanji who is a lot more calm then Luffy was already catched by the fridge thing. And he was mad at Franky as much as Luffy or otherwise he wouldn´t have attacked him when he first met him.
-
…misunderstandings ?
they beat him and robbed him how could that be missunderstood.and thats what scares me is that he might just do that forget about all the teribel things hes done to them and just let it go that would to me leave something un-done just saying ah thats in the past lets be friends just doesnt feel right with me,
and i know hes done it before just not to any one whos done so much to hurt them.....
ah the rambelings of a usopp fanboy  i at least hope that some of what im saying makes sense...
and with the frankys they are even now they beat usopp he beat them and i want to see the same happen to franky after he gets a whooping i can relax and they can be friends or what ever :P
-
Like Franky said, they're even. Luffy got his revenge when he destroyed the Franky House. Franky's helped Usopp, and is now helping Sanji to get Robin, who wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
Besides, wanting to punish Franky and punishing him are two entirely different things. :P
-
point taken you all have very good points but as said im a fanboy and im just rambeling on :P
and i want it to be biblical an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth in short i want to see payback at franky
its not really not worth to disscuse it with me cause im fanatical  just ignore it i just have an urge to get it out
-
Actually, I felt that way at first, too. I really started liking Franky around 352, but in the back of my head, I wanted to see Luffy knock him out.
-
I think everyone of us wanted to see that happen. And just as we were about to see it the Oda completely twisted the story and lent it in a totally new direction. And right now I don´t care for Franky´s beating anymore. I saw him suffer enough in his flashback already. Now I actually just want to see him to finally bring an end to what has happened to him years ago.

I hope the Klabautermann isn't the new shipwright… his crap repair job was as bad as Usopp's!

Well Crocodile is one of my favorite One Piece characters and I still wanted to see Luffy kick the crap out of him and I wasn´t disappointed after Gomu Gomu no Storm. A kick ass character deserves a kick ass beating if he´s going to be the loser eventually. I would have been pretty pissed if he would have gotten the Bellamy treatment.
Just want to say that you can love a character and still enjoy him getting beaten, now there´s no need to discuss the Alabasta thing in this thread. :DOriginally posted by Yoska

Well that you can add Chopper to the list, since he´s also been quite often dissed just because he doesn´t look that "normal" like the others. Actually IMO it is this unnormal looking characters who give the One Piece world a unique touch, but I guess some people just want complete and not silly looking fighters. Yeah, that´s what One Piece is all about.

Man, I had many enjoyable debates with GunMetal about the topic. You saw that back then already? Very good! I admit that I definitely didn´t expect neither one of the Galley-la workers to join the crew. I knew there will be somebody else, that´s Oda style. The instant Lucci was talking about Cutty Flam I knew he will be the Strawhat´s carpenter only to rethink my opinion immediately after I found out Franky was Cutty Flam. But then it actually made perfect Oda sense and once the great flashback started I didn´t doubt it anymore. :D
On a side note, I so much hope that that slick weasel Spandam will get both owned as Bellamy and ass kicked as Crocodile at the same time. He sure would deserve it.
Yeah. Chopper, Usopp and Franky are, aside from being my favorite characters, also definition of One Piece for me.
Yep, Franky actually fits perfectly in the role of a character that I at beginning find a bit odd by appearance but then immediately grows on my heart because of his character as it was the case with Usopp and Chopper.
Usopp's carpenter skills sucks B) (well, he's better than other Straw Hats but still…). I just meant, as Carter said, K-mann isn't better either. They need somebody with true skills, Franky's a natural talent.
Sorry, I misunderstood your "Hear him!" response as if what Cap´n Carter said would be a perfect example for what you were just telling wolfwood. Guess I was wrong.
Yep, Usopp´s carpenter skills suck, but then again he´s no carpenter so actually for somebody who has actually no idea of that profession he´s doing an amazing job. His skill just sucks in comparison to real carpenters skills. -
I like that Franky makes fun of him about it. :P
That's some major foresight, Yoska. I remember being confused as to why people thought he'd join Luffy at first (when they fought Galley-La) and when he was revealed to be Cutty. I only started thinking so around 350. Guess I'm a bit slow.
-
I guess it's pretty hard to decide.
If Paulie joins, then there will probably be more conflict, thus leading to humorous situations where Paulie and Sanji bicker all the time over the girls' attires, and Zoro would snap awake from his nap and tell them to shut up so that he can resume sleeping for another few hours. Also, I see Paulie as more of a Straw Hat than I do Franky, just because he just…fits, you know? I mean, just picture him with the Straw Hat crew and you'll see what I mean.
And Franky also has great reasons to join, mainly because he has a dream of building a great ship, and obviously he seems respectful of Usopp...wait a sec, doesn't Usopp's situation also have to be resolved? Anyway, back on topic...Franky sticks out a lot more than Paulie, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. He also needs to get "revenge" for when the Straw Hats destroyed the Franky house. But all in all, It seems (at the moment) that Paulie has a better chance of joining.

That's some major foresight, Yoska.Naw, somebody else suggested it and I, out of frustration, thought it makes sense and therefore I just jumped into the bandwagon - though pretty unstable one for sure. Anyway, I can easily imagine either of them with Straw Hats but again, I can imagine almost anybody with them :P. That's the way my head works, for good and bad.
-
i would really be dissapointed if franky is not to join T______T he is such a cool char :(
-
I think Paulie will join. He just seems like a worthy addition to the Straw Hats, even though I don't really like him so much. Franky really doesn't fit into the One Piece style as much: He's older than the rest of the crew and he stole a lot of money from them. Maybe Luffy would allow him to join, but Nami would have to kick his ass first…
-
Robin is a lot older than everyone else too. Chopper is younger than everyone else, and is a reindeer. Do they not fit in?
-
They don't. That's why we all hate them.
-
"We all"? I hope you meant that as a joke. Chopper is ranked as one of the most popular characters in One Piece. And he's my second favorite.
-
I think it was a joke. I don't get why people have this age fixation. The ages doesn't mean shit, it's a comic for gods sake. They aren't real people, there isn't any real character chemistry behind them. Everything there is, is in the head of Oda and it's his fault if you happen to feel bad chemistry, hate him instead. And if Robin hadn't had ever fitted in, it's intentional. Jeez, don't people have any appreciation of variety. Just bring on carbon copies…
-
I change my mind ;_; I want Franky, but Paulie rocks too. give us both give us both
okay
as for bon clay, ironically I wanted him to join, though I love nico robin too.
franky… now you mention it, yes... flamboyant... He'd drive viewers away, but. Get him some new clothes and hes all set. haha. he'd fucking rock as a crew member.
I wonder how he'd converse with chopper o.o; imagines him teaching chopper how to be cool and making him wear speedos no. >_> fucking hell no. NO.
Franky and Sanji. kinda boring but amusing in its own way. Him talking to Luffy would be the normal "Are you stupid?" shit. Him and Zoro would be funny if done right. Him and Chopper would be hilarious. Him and Nico Robin would ROCK when conversing. He'd keep saying all sorts of stuff about stuff and she'd be ignoring it humourously.
Franky for strawhat >_>
-
I voted Paulie. I think he will join over Franky. I still like Franky though. But yeah…i think Paulie would join.
-
I still think Paulie will end up joining in the end. I have a weird feeling that we're going to see a scene with some sort of "revelation" ahead involving him, Lucci, and Luffy… Don't know why I think this, but I hope that he does something. He's pretty much become a background character now.
-
Really hard to say. They both are going to Eneas Lobby with someone who is OR was Straw Hat crew, didn't they? I'll just go for both of them then. :P
-
Ah, I can't choose.
I love Franky.. although I'm not too keen on his speedos, and his fighting skills is a bit too.. random, for me =P But he has dreams, and angsty past, and a person he looked up to - he's got everything a Straw Hat character needs XD But then again, there's Robin…
Not much of Paulie has been revealed yet. He's still more like a passing character, like Wiper in Skypiea. His fighting skills doesn't impress me much, either.. I won't deny he's cool though. And if he joins I can so imagine him squabbling with Nami XD
Oh, and if one of them joins, the Straw Hat will have their first big and bulky person in the crew~
-
Can't believe I have not voted in this thread that is almost half a year old XD
Of course it's franky!
