Well, first of all… to show the world that you dont fuck with the WG. If a Shichi dont do as they want to, they will be punished. A good way to punish Hancock would be to wipe out Amazon lilly.Amazon Lilly, or atleast the tribe inhabiting it, also seems to be a pretty known and feared tribe.EDIT: Ofcourse there are alot of other treats and problems, but I think that the WG is powerfull enough to handle Amazon lily too, without any bigger problems.

Absolute justice is a word i know of clearly. But there is no way that the WG would have destroyed Ohara and all its civilians if there was no scholars and no poneglyph there.

You sound fucking ridiculous. You didn't say that the scholars should never be there you said for them to leave meaning they would have to have been there at one time. Ohara being their hometown and obviously a source of the criminal activity of researching the poneglyphs and the Lost century would be one of the main priorities of securing. Following absolute justice they wouldn't have been BC'd but they'd wouldn't be in as good as a situation overall. Marines would've descended upon them like a maelstrom fuckin up anybody they suspected to have info on the scholars. Knowing how Spandine is he probably would've BC'd them anyway.

Furthermore, AL and the marines/WG have a treaty. If Hancock breaks that treaty as their leader the amazons of AL are fucked whether Hancock is there or not. Her not being there will not make the WG/marines forget that their leader has broken their treaty. Especially if they saw her sailing with the SHs of all ppl. In short some amazons would probably be arrested for piracy and the others would be executed or forced in to slavery or sent to ID under some association they have with Hancock.

AL is screwed once the WG/marines find out Hancock brought Luffy to ID or she doesn't participate in the war. She's not going to join, it's as simple as that…......

hmm, no! I also put examples of her interacting with the others (shopping with Nami/Robin, refusing Sanji's advances, kicking Chopper). And she and Luffy could just be a background feature in a larger spread.

Come to think of it, Hancock's personality would clash with just about everyone in the crew except for Luffy and Sanji. So that's another strike against her. Can she get along with the rest of them?

I think that would be a plus. Her interactions with the crew would be hilarious, and in time she would gain respect for the rest of the crew (like she had with her sisters).

Also, not every crewmember was asked to join. Robin asked to be taken with him, and he accepted because he knew she wasn't a bad person. So, if Hancock just asks Luffy to go with him, specially if she's discovered as his accomplice in the Impel Down invasion, Luffy would accept her without a second thought.

Well, even if they dont attack immediately, they will most likely attack the island since it's an enemy fo the WG and a center for piracy. Plus that's probably the best way to show both Hancock and the whole world what happends if you mess with the WG.

Wrong, Hancock had a whole crew so there are alot of pirates, and strong warriors on the island, plus they will probably attack the island anyway of principle reasons. Even if the women of Amazon lily isnt a large treath, they will still be good slaves.

Now, I'm pretty sure Buggy knows his DF better then anyone. Did you see the attack he did in the latest chapter? How could anyone else think of that?

But back on topic, NO, NO NO Hancock can't join the crew because she's 27 and that's it. It's like, totally logical and can't be argued against. Now, what the SHs NEED is a lady going through menopause to join the crew. Seriously though, this thread has gotten a bit trollish right? I don't even see a good suggestion for crewmembers left. People seem to have shot down all the current characters, and with good reason.

One thing though, there's a good reason why Smoker, Ace, Tashigi, Hancock, Jimbei, and Buggy would join. They all already have "crews!" Why would these people join the SHs when they can independently travel the seas on their own? I mean, if Franky family had been a pirate crew then Franky would have gone along with them! Brooke's crew needs to die before he was eligible to join! Here's a great pattern that all the SHs followed before they joined, none of them where in pirate crews (that where alive) already! Otherwise, they'd have no reason to join the SHs. Even if the SHs are the stronger crew, these guys are loyal to their friends/alies. For example, if Hancock decides to follow Luffy, then she's bringing a bunch of Amazons with her, and I don't see that addition to the crew working out. Plus, come to think of it, wouldn't she end up being a bitch to almost everyone else on the crew? Her loyalty is strictly to Luffy, and that's not good for the entire crew.

So basically, I'm saying everyone else is wrong. The black hippie suggestion is probably the most sensible one we've gotten out of the bunch. Oh, and Chill Out, Relax, and Respect.

edit: Oh yeah, and obviously the WG will destroy Kuja Island without Hancock. It just doesn't have the strength to fight off say, a Buster Call. No matter how messed up the WG is after the war they'll still have 7 warships left.

The WG totally knows about Amazon Lily, remember how that old lady (name escapes me) said that the marines have technology to travel in the calm belt, and that without Hancock they can attack the island now? They totally know what this island is. Everyone does. How did you miss this?

Um...wouldn't retaliation against a betrayal be a top priority? Especially when, like you said, the island is WEAK. Unlike the revolutionaries or younkou, the WG can take care of that right away. It'd cost them like no resources. You're making it sound like the WG loves to procrastinate or something. It makes more sense for them to accomplish goals that they can finish first. The only way the WG would ignore this island, which is supposedly full of pirates, is if the WG and marines where completely destoryed after this war, which no admirals and only a few warships left. True, but since they demonstrably have time to force other countries inhabitans to slaves why should they have problem doing the same with Amazon lily? I though I already had answeared this… they can wait til after the war... plus that they probably wont use their full strenght fightin WB, and take care of the rest you just mentioned. Who the fuck said it would happen immediately? You say that as if Hancock will become nakama for a short time and then return to AL so they won't be attacked after the marines recover from the war and decide to attack.

The main fact is if the treaty is broken AL is screwed. Ofcourse it won't happen now but I doubt Oda will make her the next nakama and just ignore the treaty he brought up to keep Hancock from ignoring the war in the first place.

This should've never been merged smh. The point he is getting at is there is a possibility that the only reason the WG is even taking any care in the problems of Amazon Lily is because Hancock is the current empress of the island. She is the one they approached first knowing how much of a problem SHE could be to the government with an entire pirate nation backing her. If she left them behind, they would than focus their attention to the place she ended up leaving too, and not to the island she left.

Think about it, her personality seems to dictate that in the event she had her status stripped she would still remain empress of the island so of course they would attack if she left the shichibukai. But if she left Amazon Lily to go with the strawhats, they wouldn't even glance at her former island unless another equally dangerous empress came up ready to attack the government and all that it stands for like Hancock probably tried to do with her past and the Tenyruubito.

The government only takes plausible and immediate threats from pirates and the like or like someone said, they would have sent a big force of marines to round up people in Jaya by now. They went to Ohara because they feared the discovery of the Void Century at the hands of the Scholars, if the Scholars were not there, they wouldn't have a reason to even be there. But just being there lead to the destruction of the island.

Also the people saying Hancock will join know there is a lot of little storyline things to get over, but we also all know they could easily be resolved before the end of the arc, what we got going for us is the little things left undone for Hancocks story and past, and also her blatant dedication to Luffy. And people keep talking about "clashing" problems on the crew, whether it is similar looks, to how her personality would cause problems on the crew… I don't know if I have said it on this board yet, but that is actually one of the reason I think she will join. Although my explanation is really long winded on a previous board ill some it up. Hancock clearly has some loyalty and trust issues and she won't open up to anyone other than Luffy, eventually I think when she meets the other strawhats she will slowly learn to open up to them as well and she won't behave anywhere near as bad as she is now around them. Its just like how Robin had to learn to get over abandonment issues with friends or how Nami had to get over her stigma with pirates. Every strawhat had something that was keeping them being a member before they joined, that is the thing that is stopping her imo.

Most of the people against actually give points defending their opinion, while the other side seems to be simple saying, "yeah, well, what about Robin?" and "well, so? that doesn't matter that much."

You can't be serious with this half baked logic. If this had any truth to it then granny Nyon wouldn't be urging Hancock to handle her duties as empress and stick to the treaty. She enforced that point when she realized Luffy's need to go to ID and the only way being the marines. Thus, Hancock would have to acquiesce to the marines request. Also what makes you think Hancock joining the SHs isn't Hancock leaving the shichibukai? That makes no sense. She leaves her island to join another pirate crew. How daft do you think the WG/marines are not to see that she is not just breaking the treaty but basically stripping herself of the shichi title.

That's like if Mihawk joined the SHs back during the baratie arc and then went to the shichi meeting for Croc's replacement like there's no problem. If she joins the SHs she is no longer a shichibukai. If she is no longer a shichibukai the treaty is broken and AL is screwed. Stop trying to belittle and look over her responsibility to her pirate crew and fellow amazons of AL.

This is not true he saw Usopp joining as a given. They became quick friends and Luffy didn't see Usopp going anywhere else. If Usopp had for some reason said he wanted to stay on the island Luffy woud've pestered him similar to what he did with Sanji and Zoro. For Luffy Franky joining was also a given, when it comes to fighting with him and helping his goal he already accepts you as a nakama. He wasn't like "meh w/e welcome aboard" with either of them and when it comes to robin she saved his life twice. Not to mention she saying she had nothing to live for after the poneglyp not providing anything for her, Luffy knew she had nowhere else to go.

Oh and about this Hancock for nakama thing ppl need to stop bringing up these Robin examples. Oda is not gonna do the same thing twice when it comes nakama joining. The only thing similar is them once being enemies and we all know Oda handled Robin and Franky to completely different ways.

If I were to go to my female nakama pattern for joining Hancock won't be because her past was revealed to quickly. Nami and Robin both had a whole arc delay before we fully got to know their full characters. Following this pattern I wouldn't be surprised if the next female nakama to join will become part of the crew due to some usefulness or camaraderie with Luffy and then an arc later to get a full explanation her past and dream.

I brought this up in the old thread, but then flubbed up by going to Big Emperor to try to back it up. Each and every one of the crew will, when the time comes, do absolutely anything for the others. Hancock, whether people are willing to admit it or not, is a very selfish person and would only clash and grate with the others.

So yeah, as it stands, I don't really see any of the current pool of prospects joining, seeing where the story is heading. I still feel that out of everyone who's had the ''next Straw Hat'' label thrown at them over the past year, Marguerite would still be the best choice based on what little we saw of her, but unless Oda pulls a massive U-turn, it's not going to happen.

I already have an answer for that point, I said it in my last post. Its her problem she needs to get over. She won't open up to anyone, she doesn't want to be put under submission by anyone ever again and she wasn't even willing to let that part go till she met Luffy and learned about his character and that he accepted her past as irrelevant to how he sees her. I bet she will easily get over this problem when she sees what the rest of the crew is like and she will see they believe in absolute freedom just like she does. The people saying she can't join for certain things about Hancock keep neglecting the fact she has already been setup through the storyline to "beable" to change, the fact that she has changed for Luffy is testament to this fact. Meanwhile there is a host of issues still unresolved about her character that currently can't be resolved UNLESS she joins Luffy.

Let me ask you this… If she has her Shichibukai status revoked... would she and her nation be better off if she stayed with Luffy or she headed back to her home nation? The government doesn't care about Amazon Lily, they care about who its lead by who just happens to have a huge personal grudge against everything the WG stands for including the Tenryuubito. Her nation would be MUCH safer if she no longer became affiliated with that nation as a haven because than they would focus more of their attention on the strawhats instead of that place.

The Slavery storyline is also no where close to over, and anyone with a tragic past in One Piece always has a vindication eventually. Until those issues are resolved and in a way where it invalidates her becoming a strawhat (Like how Vivi had the dream of unifying her nation and she had to stay behind to pull it off) I will continue to say she will be 100% strawhat before its done. I just don't see any other course for her character considering how she has been foreshadowed since we met her, and how big the slavery and Tenryuubito issue has been shown to be. That is my main reason for believing she will join, and its one that makes me surpass any of the LITTLE problems she has right now (yes they are little because they can all be sorted out before this arc is over).

I am fine with that statement :) I personally think Hancock will join before the end of this arc, but I don't get emotional if someone doesn't agree with me. They are predictions plain and simple, we know nothing of what will transition before the end of the arc, I simply make my prediction on the stuff that we do know, which is why I don't attack people that suggest Jimbei might join. (although if Hancock ends up joining like i think she will… we probably wouldn't have 2 shichibukai's join the crew >.>). Strangely enough, I don't think she will join, but have been playing devil's advocate here and pointing out reasons why she would be a nice addition to the crew, just because a lot of arguments against her make no sense. In the end, someone wants her to join or not based only on personal opinion, there's no 'logic' or 'reason' behind it.

A lot of past characters could have joined: Pell, Wiper, Paulie, Vivi. A lot of past characters seemed like they would never join, but did: Usopp, Robin, Franky (at first)… In my mind, someone joining has more to do with what Oda plans to do with him/her, than what the character was doing before he/she joined the crew.

I mean, let's roll back in time and imagine we discussing if Usopp would join or not. People would be saying things like: "He's not strong", "He has a generic dream", "His hair is black, like Luffy's", "His cowardice will be boring and repetitive".

Now Robin: "Her Devil Fruit's too powerful", "She has black hair like Luffy and Usopp", "She's a villain", "She's too quiet and won't interact well with the others", "She has no function in the crew", "Luffy is not interested in her", "Luffy does not like her", "Luffy will never ask her to join".

And Franky: "He's beaten Usopp and stole the crew", "No one on the crew likes him", "He's too weird", "He's too old to join", "His dream don't require him to go with the crew", "Luffy hates him".

In my opinion, it would actually be fun to have Hancock around. She has a strong personality and her interactions with the crew would be funny. It would be cool to see her kicking Chopper or petrifying Sanji, or bonding with Nami and Robin and at the same time being jealous of them near Luffy, or ordering the others around and being contested. Also, she has that snake pet, and I bet she has an interesting Haki-using fight style. I think she uses the snake as a bow, like Marguerite, or maybe as another weapon (hmmm... whip?)

I see her kinda like Emma Frost of the X-Men, the former Qhite Queen of the Hellfire Club. She bitches around and try to llok "better" than anyone else, but cares about the team and is in love with the leader, Cyclops. She eventually warmed to the others and let down her jerkmask a little.

The only reason I think she won't join is because her narrative role in the story will be other. She's not meant to join, she has some other part to play in the story, like Vivi or Cobra or Iceburg. But I could be wrong, and would be pleasantly surprised if she joined.

I agree that her stoning power makes her seemed overpowered but so was Robin's when she was first introduced. All Oda has to do is limit her stoning powers effect. We've already seen it doesn't work against a VC. But is effective against fodder. So that just means if Boa does end up fighting it'll be only against a high tier opponent. She did end up using Pistol Kiss against Luffy and that seemed to work since her stoning attacks were ineffective. It also means she'll have to fall back on her Haki abilities. There's still alot that Oda can do with her fightwise since we really have no idea what she's truly capable of.

An example of more abilities…I personally think Haki will play a very important part from now on and if the crew is to progress then the crew members capable of using Haki will need to learn it, so I think Its almost as if Haki is a prerequisite for the next new 'strong' nakama.

The snake intrigues me to new extents of One Piece weaponary, just pick up a snake and use it as a bow….ingenious. Who knows maybe Hancocks snake is used as a spear/javalin.

She could even use it as a pole to high jump over the ppl making stupid comments and bitching in this forum.

Yeah, I'm kinda seeing the similarities to a Vivi role and that she may require Luffys help…maybe to deal with the Nobles and clear her troubles or to escape the WG. That sounds like a role that may only be for this arc.

Stephen's translation gives the impression of killing two birds with one stone. That is, going to Mariejois and bringing Luffy to Impel Down would satisfy both conditions, as the reason the other empresses died was because they didn't act on their feelings. Hancock's line about being able to die happy and believing that she's found requited love in chapter 526 leads me to believe that she's fulfilled that quotient and will live regardless.

It seems like the sudden mindset in the last page or so is "flub logic, anyone can join if you want," which really makes all this discussion useless. The pattern of SHs joining isn't THAT unpredictable. Even Robin had signs, even if you could only see them in hindsight.

I'm really sticking to that family system thing I mentioned awhile back. However, in addtion to all that, for Hancock to join she'd either need to find a way to safeguard her island, or bring it with her. Or, you know, they all die–but if Hancock joins the crew that way then...it'd suck. It'd be like killing all of Franky Family so Franky would have no obligation to them. Sadly, some people where actually happy with that at the time of Enies Lobby, but it's negative writing nonetheless!

So yeah, unlike Franky Family, I see Amazon Lily as a big ball and chain that bides Hancock to one place. She can't leave if cause their lives literally depend on her strength, and if she leaves them anyway then Luffy won't let her join the crew for moral reasons. I'm forseeing a sad goodbye at some point where Hancock's all sad that she can't follow Luffy somehow, because of her responsibility to the island. Yeah, she's totally a temporary main character.
