I didn't base that opinion on the fact that some of the characters don't fit any of the ugly stereotypes for being Asian and didn't say that they weren't meant to be. It's just that like I said none of them outside of a few come off as asian to me*, so with that in mind some shouldn't have an axe to grind with someone like Chatwin for kind of being the old man out.
- If that comes off as racist to anyone I wholeheartedly apologize.
Well, all I have to say is this, cartoon characters can be hard to depict in reality. I STILL can't imagine what a real Son family or Kuririn would look like, let alone Arnold from "hey Arnold!"
It's really dependent on how the artist distorts reality. If you look at FG or the simpsons, you can still see some likeness to human body.
So for example, Yamcha looks "real", while characters like Goku and Kuririn have a little exaggerated features.
So to say Chatwin doesn't fit isn't wrong or right, it depends on that how that character is personified in the eyes of the viewer.
Let's face it, we have no clue what Toriyama was picturing when he drew those characters at all.
