On Yamato's start of transformation, in page 6, doesn't it look to you guys that he started growing the same sharp teeth as Sasaki when she saw them reflected in his sword? In fact, it's like they're growing upside down, as in a reflection. That would be a very interesting development, I think.

I bet someone else has suggested it before, but I think it'd be cool if both Luffy and Law get knocked down and imprisoned with Kidd, and then all three are freed on the night of the plan.

RE: Chapter 886 : This Ish The Way I Live
My apologies if this has been asked earlier, but I couldn't find an answer. JB's and MS's translations are quite different in some crucial points this time. In particular, Jinbe's small line when they're arriving at the harbor is translated really different, and I would love to know which is the accurate one, but I have no access to the raws so I have no way to confirm either. MS' says "Prepare for incoming fire! We've just escaped! Can't let them get us!" while JB's says "Ready the cannons!! It's boring… to just run away." Would anyone with access to the raws please check on which of the two translations is the accurate one? Or be willing to share the panel in Japanese so we can see?
I got almost no answers, but I was finally able to see the raws. Indeed, JB's translation is the accurate one. Jinbe says: "Just running away all the time… is boring." MS's translation was atrocious...

Can anyone confirm what the Lola look-alike tells Gotti? The text posted in the spoilers' section doesn't match (傷一つでもつけてみな 頭目の首が飛んじまうってのがわかんないのかい), but I'm not sure this is what the original Japanese says

RE: The Great New World Discussion Thread
Hey, y'all!! I've been rereading old chapters again, and I have a question I hope someone can answer. Maybe it's been answered before but I couldn't find it in the long discussions around. At the beginning of the Punk Hazard arc, Luffy and the SH's arrive to the main entrance where they found a sign telling them it's forbidden to enter the island. The sign has three seals, one belonging to the marines, the other to the world government, and a third that I cannot identify. Sorry if it's a silly question, but does anyone know whose mark that is? http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/655/13

So much for the responsible adults, Great chapter as usual!
-
RE: Chapter 814: Let's go see Master Nekomamushi
Great, funny, and interesting chapter, as usual. I still have no clue about what direction the plot is going to take, and that in itself is awesome. I really doubt that Oda would go through all the detail about Zou and the Minks to just drop it at that and have the SHs go after Sanji. As Zoro pointed out today, the Kaidou thing is at their tails (otherwise, why introduce Kaidou himself, and btw, what happened to Kidd and the others of his alliance?), and of course the thing with Momonosuke and the samurais and ninja is still unsolved. The question is why would Oda mix the two plots at this point. Why two Yonkous at the time? I feel like something big is going to happen this year and I can't wait
-
RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
sanji left,or so it seems to be implied
All we know is he's not with the others. He could be in the head of Zunesha (I actually thought of a less chaste part, but you know…) for all we know.
-
RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
yeah, first question is how he left the island…mink doesn't seem to have ships
Wait… who left the island? Because I don't remember anyone leaving, except for Jack...
-
RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
Note the people on the island but the giant elephant itself. We get a panel of it trumpeting in what I assume is pain or maybe anger?
Ah, you meant Zunesha or Zunisha. Again, probably just a matter of him destroying the city… explosions and the like. And maybe Zunesha can feel the "voices" of his people too?
-
RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
Is it implied that Jack's zoan form is soo huge that he actually hurt Zou just by being on it? Or why was the island in distress?
Maybe it was because he destroyed the whole city, and crucified a bunch of people to get info about the ninja? Geez, I wonder why they're in distress….
So did Sanji go back onto the ship after jumping off and then leave a note. Or did they escape, get to Zou and then he left?
The only thing that makes sense is that he left the note before the counterattack and he's actually on Big Mum's ship. It would explain why Nami was crying because they left Sanji in the enemies hands.
We already saw him in a previous chapter fighting in Zou against some people from Jack's crew…

RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
I am disappointed in this chapter I don't know what Oda was trying to do but it was a total failure, the way wanda mentioned dead comrades and the look on her face in those panels just don't add up to todays reveal. It feels so out of place like Oda made a last minute change to what he had intended so this chapter scores low in my book, the only things I find appealing about the chapter are the mink tribe and the different design and the Sanji mystery everything else about the chapter fails.
Yes, people get disappointed all the time. And in every single chapter that I can remember there is ALWAYS someone disappointed because Oda didn't do what they wanted. The thing about the corpse was predictable, and many pointed out the possibility that she was talking of Brook in the previous forum discussions. As for Sanji, obviously he is not dead… Did anyone really expect that he would be killed? And without a badass fight or any scene? Really, people... Now, Wanda was seriously concerned, and of course Nami was crying too, and Brooke is also apologetic about Sanji, so there is absolutely no doubt that something happened, probably related to Cesar, and undoubtedly related to Sanji's "alive only" bounty reward. Chances are also high that it has something to do with Jack, so we just have to wait and see what it is.
-
RE: Chapter 807: 10 Days Ago
this chapter is weird on so many levels:
3)- previous chapter: the corpses of your dead comrades
- this chapter: just trolling, I just meant singular and it is a nichkname for Brook who we like to lick.
The issue is that in Japanese there is no plural, so when they refer to, eg., "Your nakama", it is always ambiguous whether they are referring to just one of them or more. It's also ambiguous when they refer to "That person", as Japanese language lacks the distinction between "him" and "her," so often translators use "Him" to only realize weeks later that the author meant "her"
-
RE: Chapter 805: The Mink Tribe
Well, if Wanda saw Brook it's not unreasonable to know why she thinks they're dead
@The:
The plot thickens.
Obviously the Swirly Hats aren't dead, so I wonder what could be going on with them. My best guess would be it has to deal with Jack in some capacity. Perhaps like Moriah, he can steal something from people. I wouldn't be surprised if he could steal souls, so that's why they seem dead. We will probably get to them next week, and they determine that because of the lack of decay, they are somehow not dead. This could play well for Brook, as he can control his soul and perhaps he can make it back. If this is the case, it would coincide with Luffy making it there. That or they saw Brook as a skeleton and the rest unconscious, and assumed they were all dead. It could be another stealing something fruit, as in the Thriller Bark arc was Moriah, which had the mist, and we have mist in this arc as well.
Liked seeing various looking members of the Mink Tribe. So far we have a Gorilla, Canine, Rabbit, and Bull. A Bear as well as Bepo is confirmed being a part of the tribe as well. Seeing Carrot jump high into the sky was pretty cool, and her just slipping onto the crocodile was amusing. Here's another theory I considered with the whole soul aspect. What if the various crew's souls are in the minkmen. We have four characters, and a mysterious one, which would total 5 of the 6 that where with the Swirly Hats (Chopper, Nami, Brook, Sanji, Ceasar, and Momo). Seeing Carrot doing the jump in the height could be foreshadowing that Sanji's Soul is inside her. Having Nami's clothes on could mean Nami's Soul is in her.
Looks like Jack might be the main antagonist of this arc. He may have gotten Doflamingo, or somehow heard about Luffy going to Zou and decided to pursue him instead. That, or he accomplished his initial goal and from there decided to head back to Zou to finish what he started. He would know that the Swirly Hats were there, and if Doflamingo was defeated, he could go back to Zou to find the others. He would then be able find the other Samurai at least to get information out of them. If SheepHead and the others were under Jack, that probably means that Jack is under Kaido.
Nice little chapter overall. Had some nice atmosphere and art, and I love the Whale Tree for some reason.

RE: Chapter 792: Kneeling Down
Also, can anyone explain to me what is that thing in the final page, in the next to the last panel? Is that an island? A ship? And if so, whose?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
You're only referring to chapters that happen in the present, right ?
Yes, only those in the present
-
RE: Chapter 792: Kneeling Down
MS's translation seems much better, but I still I wonder if it's right. For instance, what Sabo says after giving that final punch on Burgess is completely different in both translations, anyone knows which is the most accurate. Also, someone might have said this before, but when was the last time we had a chapter with no Strawhat's on it at all?
-
RE: Chapter 791: "Rubble"
We've had this kind of "oh now things will definitely happen" for the past 200 chapters. It's kind of starting to get to me.
Well, with OP it's always been the travel rather than the goal. Things have happened, definitely, although I understand people's impatience. Some will be disappointed no matter what. For me, as long as it makes me burst in laughter, or get super sad, or feel anger, and be surprised every now and then, I'll be happy. This arc was loooong, but it introduced great characters and Oda has stated over and over that these events will be world changing, so I can't complain.
-
RE: Chapter 791: "Rubble"
Haters will be haters… The chapter is a necessary rest before the tide of events that will come in the following two years: The SH's taking on two Yonkos, with all the Samurai background to be found out, Reverie (and the possible dissolution of the Shichibukai), the Marines' new strategy, Jinbe giving the poneglyph to Robin, and the SH's allies' numbers that have kept multiplying (Alabaster, Skypiea, Amazon Lily, Fishman Island, Dressrosa, and all the new ones appearing in this arc, not to speak of giants and dwarves), and also the flirting with the Revolutionary Army, the amicability with some Marines, Kuzan, the rise of the Blackbeard's, and sooner or later the appearance of Vega Punk, as well as the yet-to-be found fate of the Whitebeard pirates after WB's death... It looks like it'll last for quite a while, and I couldn't be happier!!! Would hate for OP to finish and not having anything of its caliber to read
-
RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
I mean, what did people expect? Sabo to be in Dressrosa and not doing anything at all? Or would you rather have Sabo fighting –and at this point, probably beating-- Doflamingo? We already have the fact that Fujitora is not doing anything at all to save even himself for us to have Sabo just waiting on Luffy. Haters be haters, after all... Me? I loved the chapter, although I felt it too short, but it would seem short to me even with 50 more pages
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
did jimbei just take the poneglyph with him….
Yep, that's what it looks like. Will we see him meeting with Robin to show her soon?
-
RE: Chapter 784 : Gear Fourth
It might have been said before (and if so, I'm sorry) but the words in the back of Zoro at the color spread are a very popular saying in Spanish. It reads "El que ríe de (al) último, ríe mejor." It translates "He whom laughs last, laughs better." It means that in a circumstance when you're losing, your adversary shouldn't feel like he's won because maybe in the end things might change.
BTW, great chapter. It feels short, but of course I would feel the same even if it had 50 pages
-
RE: Chapter 768: That trigger on that day
I'm sure it's been said before, but I wonder what happened with Burgess?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
and what about this D power sphere of influence?
http://img.mangastream.com/cdn/manga/51/2608/014.pngIt's a mistake in the translation. It literally says "Within Law's ability reach" in the raw.

RE: Chapter 760: The Same Stakes
@CCC:
-Four people total in the family. Dad abandoned Mariejoa/their power/prestige/status. He didn't abandon the family…
-"Think of your position" but not literally. Just that gist.
-"Good luck" or "I hope everything works out [for you, me, us, everything]"
-Riku believing Luffy can actually win is him thinking. Not talking.
-Honestly no difference between Huh and Ehh. Both express surprise/not understanding. You're the best, thanks!!! I really miss your translations
-
RE: Chapter 760: The Same Stakes
@CCC:
"I was born into greatness… I possessed the most difficult power in this world to obtain"
As literal as I can phrase it.
It is indeed ambiguous. Could be CoC, could just be the general concept of "privilege" judging by the rest of the speech.Hey CCC. Would you please help me with these? Sorry if they've been asked before: According to MP's translation, DD's father left leaving the four of them behind. According to MS's he didn't leave them, but brought them along, and together they were four. Other discrepancies in both translations are: In Koala and Sabo's talk: "You should be maintaining your position" vs "Think of your position"; Sabo and Fujitora: "I hope you have good luck" vs "But you are just luckier". King Riku's thoughts and actual words are reversed in one translation, when he says he's started believing in Luffy… are those his words or his thoughts??? Even Luffy's reaction do Doffy's words is misleading: "Huh!!?" vs "Ehh!!?" The last one sounds like he's really surprised... not so with the first one.
-
RE: Chapter 760: The Same Stakes
So, lots of translation issues today :wassat: (sorry if someone asked this before). According to MP, DD's father left leaving the four of them behind. According to MS's he didn't leave them, but brought them along, and together they were four. I think I might figure it out if I could look at the Japanese original, but don't know where to find it (darn!)… There are others: "You should be maintaining your position" vs "Think of your position"; "I hope you have good luck" vs "But you are just luckier". King Riku's thoughts and actual words are reversed in one translation, when he says he's started believing in Luffy... are those his words or his thoughts??? Even Luffy's reaction do Doffy's words is misleading: "Huh!!?" vs "Ehh!!?" The last one sounds like he's really surprised... not so with the first one. How I miss CCC!!!!!

RE: Chapter 759: Secret Plan
Concerning the cover story, does the ship that Jinbe helped out seem to be the one Zoro sliced down at the start of the Return to Sabody arc? Because if so, it would mean that Jinbe would be close to Sabody Archipelago.
I don't think it is. It seems like there are three sets of gigantic claws on the ship, maybe from a sea king?
-
RE: Chapter 757: The Trump Card
Is anyone else working in a decent translation? All versions available are horrible. Also, I wonder, whatever happened to Burgess?
-
RE: Chapter 756: The 4th level
Not sure if already pointed out, but what do you think the effect of releasing Mansherry will be? Apparently DD uses her power for some reason, and all in all he seems to have lowered his guard as regarding the Tontatta

RE: Chapter 754: Please to make your acquaintance
Wait, did Oda seriously write "Cabbage" instead of Cavendish on the mini-map? Or was it a MangaStream thingie?
No clue, as I've only been able to find Chinese raws, but MP also translated it as Cabbage
-
RE: Chapter 754: Please to make your acquaintance
Loved the chapter!! Also, I have to admit, today's Mangastream's translation was great, much better than Mangapanda's!
-
RE: Chapter 753: " Battle"
But people are not being negative they are offering their opinions which is what this forum is all about, you don't see people having a go at you for being so easily pleased.
I'm not easily pleased. I just don't write what I don't like in the forums. And, let's be honest, some people here is really negative, quite often attacking anyone who doesn't share their views.
-
RE: Chapter 753: " Battle"
@The:
From the forums, it seems that most of us do that, especially since they come out before One Piece. It does make One Piece look better, but it won't stop me or others from complaining if there is something we don't like about the chapter. Heck, Toriko was good, especially when compared to Naruto this week, but it didn't stop me from talking about my dissatisfaction of some of this chapter. I was ready to complain about this One Piece chapter until I finished and saw it touched on other points that hadn't been touched on for a while. And while the author doesn't have to do what we want, it can still be disheartening when something doesn't go our way, or worse, the author is making huge mistakes.
It seems to me that people always want to complain about something! Well, of course! There is no such a thing as a perfect work. Some people love OP, some others hate and think it's the worst thing ever, and that's okay after all. Nevertheless, it gets tiresome to read such bitterness and negativity in the forums. At some points I feel like shouting "Well, if Oda sucks so bad, why don't you go read something else?" Furthermore, I despise the self-aggrandizing that underlies many of the comments. It's as if they were saying, "If I was the author I would do so much better." Those are the worst kind! I'm not saying of course that you have to like and agree with every thing the author does. All I'm saying is sometimes you just have to accept the fact that stories don't always go the way you want them to go
-
RE: Chapter 753: " Battle"
I would say that my strategy might be useful. I read (sigh) Naruto and Bleach first, and they're often so bad that OP is always outstanding by comparison! It has never disappointed me! I know people want some delivery on the many plot lines going all simultaneously, they want to know DD's past, they want to know Law's past, they want to know who is Manshere, they want to know about Kanjuro, and of course they want to see DD's ass kicked. But, as the wise man once pointed out, the author is not your bitch. 'Nuff said
-
RE: Chapter 753: " Battle"
Great chapter as usual!! I've said it before, and will say it again… Despite the weird translations in the names of characters, MP's translation is miles ahead of MS's. Someone should tell them...
-
RE: Chapter 752: "Palm"
Sandman mentioned this:
Also, Aohige said this:
Thanks!! I lost track of the conversation and missed it. If the Mr. Children tribute is the right reason, it would seem that rather than talking about DD having everything on the palm of his hand, it refers to the fact that his and Law's destinies are intertwined, as would suggest this other portion of the lyrics (minus the romantic implications, I hope):
"The warped curves cut into the palm of my hand – proof that I was born for some greater purpose -- You and me, we’re lonely animals that need each other (...) I meant to hold you but blew you away -- meant to wrap around you, but cut you to pieces -- meant to caress you but scratched you up (...) We pretended to understand one another -- but were different, separate entities"Interesting!
-
RE: Chapter 752: "Palm"
So, no answers to my question? Has it been answered before and I didn't notice? Or is it so dumb no one cares? In case you missed it, my question is why, oh why, is this chapter called "Palm"? I've read it again, and I see nothing related to it (FYI: it's palm as in palm of your hand, not as in the tree). Any ideas???
-
RE: Chapter 752: "Palm"
I probably missed a similar entry on the thread, but does anyone have any clue as to why the chapter is called "Palm"? I know it's palm as in the palm of your hand, but that still doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

lol. Maybe they'll just stare each other to death :ninja:

I think Luffy and DD's battle will probably have to do with Conqueror's Haki rather than devil fruit use, but I have been wrong before :ninja:

Okay, got it. It's pretty much the same announcement from last week: Oda's been suffering from tonsillitis since last year, and because of hard work he requires a surgical procedure to remove them. He has arranged to get a bazooka in his shoulder in addition. He plans to recover soon to continue writing.
