So I was watching AMV's on youtube and One Piece on a site and I noticed that more so than Aokiji and Kizaru, Akainu is the most EPIC. He made the most impact out of the three on the story line, and he surpassed the hype even though there wasn't that much for him. Made the other two Admirals look like they need to step up their game. Plus, he was the one going toe to toe with Whitebeard the most, and inflicted the most damage besides the Blackbeard pirates.

Akainu right now is my favorite villian/none villain character in manga.

Yeah he did. When Akainu punched Jimbei, his fist went through and got Luffy in the chest while he was in shock. They even showed his smoldering chest. But after the war they never showed Luffy's chest, he was always covered in bandages until the time-skip.

Luffy got it from an extremely powerful pirate - a yonkou - on the Grand Line and even the New World. Chopper's still doesn't make much sense, but at least he lived on the GL where DFs are more common and one might have somehow ended up on his island. Robin however, did not live in the Grand Line so one just floating there doesn't make any sense, nor did she ever meet a yonkou or a pirate for that matter, or leave her island, like Alvida did to gain hers. It would have made a lot more sense had Robin gotten her fruit in the 20 years she was traveling and running away from the WG.

I just wish Oda would have explained how Robin and Chopper got their fruits.

I don't recall it ever being stated where Ohara was, so it could of been on the Grand Line…

The point is we know absolutely nothing about DF origins… Is there a tree where they sprout? Or they spontaneously sprout from the ground? Are they a sort of sea fruit, which can be randomly found on a beach?
Until now, we only saw fruits which were already been taken and kept by someone: we never saw the right moment someone finds them. Everything about their origin is just a theory, for now. So yes, then COULD randomly appear on islands based on their geology, for what we know. They could even pop out from a toilet, for what we know.
Let's wait until Vegapunk will explain us everything about DFs. Until now, everything is a garbage theory.

My old thoughts on this were that some witches got pissed, cursed a giant tree to give out fucked up fruit that give people powers that come with the stigma of being water weakened. I remember on one of the chapter it saying that devil fruits were made by sea witches so whatever.

Also I like how we went from discussing character backstories and how their incomplete and some have plot holes. To being completely obsessed with where devil fruits come from and how an 8 year old girl came upon one. Of curse 8 being near the same age as Luffy when he got his and a lot older than Chopper when he got his.

Oda can do whatever he wants so long as he follows his own rules; he established that DFs are extremely rare and almost unheard of outside of the Grand Line. We're talking about a fruit that's worth one hundred million beri. That's as much as Luffy's second bounty, and I'm expected to believe some little girl in West Blue who was being treated as a maid by her aunt randomly got her hands on a devil fruit? Give me a break.

Right, like taking a swim in a river and randomly finding a gold nugget. Or going to Africa and finding a rock with a diamond poking out the side of it. Yes, while it is uncommon to find something rare randomly, it does happen. That's how the entire California gold rush started, someone randomly found a few gold nuggets and figured there must be more. I'd say finding a devil fruit on a beach is about as plausible as finding a message in a bottle. Oh wait, I've read of three people who found one in 2010…

How am I creepy, I just thought the action and story of One Piece was awesome. Seeing Robin get beat down made One Piece more dynamic than Bleach, Naruto, and DBZ. Plus Robin is one of my favorite characters. And Lucci, I just love that fucking name.

Well to keep in perspective when I first saw One Piece I hated it. Then I read the first few chapters and still hated it. Then I saw the end of the Crocodile fight on tv and thought it was awesome. Then I read baroque works into the current which was Thriller Bark. I say it was at some part where Spandam was beating the shit out of Robin, and Luffy taking Lucci that I relized this is so much better than Bleach and Naruto, and no to long ago it even beat out DBZ for me.

I'm still not very fond of Romance Dawn though.

I was simply saying that before Ace was killed and Sabo revealed, I though Luffy had the weakest back story of all the Strawhats.

Maybe Tashigi is Kuina's twin sister or something who was adopted

Yeah, it got real sad when Ace died. The first time I read the whole dying chapter I was teary eye'd.

Am I the only one who thought before the whole Ace and Sabo thing that Luffy had the worst of the all the backstories.

Zoro lost his friend and Rival.

Ussop lost his mother and father figure.

Nami lost her mother.

Robin lost her mother, and civilization.

Franky lost his mentor.

Brook lost his crew and captain.

Chopper lost his teacher/father figure.

Sanji lost his family, and half of Zeff's leg.

Then there was Luffy with his I want to be the Pirate King story of Shanks loses his arm saving Luffy from bandits and gives Luffy his hat. Luffy's story was lacking in the whole death part that everyone else had. Then finally at the end of the pre-time skip Luffy's at least half of it is revealed. The first thing being the death of Sabo and his quest for freedom from the prideful monarchy of wherever he was from. Then Ace's quest for freedom from the shadow of the Pirate king his father, and his desire to find a family besides just Luffy, Garp, Dadan and her mountain pirates.

When Rayleigh asked Luffy what it meant to be the Pirate King, Luffy replied being the person with the mot freedom on the entire sea. Well considering what Sabo and Ace sought in there lives that is a good meaning since it joins in with what they wanted.

Now, I do believe Luffy full backstory if yet to be revealed yet. I think Oda has something possibly involving either Garp, Dragon, Garp's wife, or Luffy's unknown mother that is yet to be revealed. But it'll probably come to light when we finally get a full meeting with these characters.

Where's Dave Jones, I though he was the captain of the Flying Dutchman. Or has SpongeBob and Jack Sparrow screwed over my intel, lol.

Wanna hear a joke… Women's rights, LOL. Nah, just kidding, though it is really funny when we're pregaming and having a contest with girls over who can make the funnier women jokes.

Something I've always complained about is how Kishi handles women. Sure Tsunade is one of the strongest ninja's introduced, but she hasn't really been shown that way besides physically. The only fight she's had is with Orochimaru, and that was very lackluster in my opinion. Kishi needs to have her in a real good fight, like with the Hanzo zombie or something. At least she has huge tits and a descently strong personality, reminds me of my sister actually, the personality.

Konan, what a waste. She could've been a great villianess, but Kishi had to put her down as a follower who wanted to carry out the wills of her two best friends. Then Madara beats the shit out of here, such a shame. She probably could of killed off half of Konaha with a surprise attack like Pain did, except in a way less EPIC way.

Oh my god, Sakura is the biggest waste of a female lead ever in a series. At the beginning she's an in love slut. Now, still and in love slut. Christ! I've never hated a female character more than her in manga. At least she had one fight against a major player, even though it sucked and she had to be helped out by some old hag. The Sakura Ino fight, I read it, saw it, never want to see it again. She has no conviction what so ever, couldn't even stab Sasuke to save her friends, and he goes around offing people left and right knowing he's being manipulated out of some bull crap brotherly crap.

Hinata... Just burn in hell. No personality at all. Just relegated to be a dick sucker for Naruto in the future.

Then compare them to Nami, Robin, and Boa. All strong willed, proficient fights, with terrible pasts. At least there compelling. I will say this for Oda, the way he showed Luffy going through the whole save Ace character arc gave him some depth with Luffy's character. He should bring in a new female lead and do the same thing. Instead of having a bad past, you see her go through, then she has a serious change of character. Like maybe she's a terrible bitch when she meets the strawhats, entire family gets killed in front of her but she manages to escape, she roams around in tears falling apart crippled with guilt, luffy saw the whole thing happen but one of the villians had him with seastone hand cuffs, Luffy escape and finds her about to hang herself or something, he offers her a chance to get revenge on them, then they go, storm the fort kick some serious ass, she gets a fat bounty , joins the strawhats a way nicer person who often stares out at the sea.

The women in One Piece, I wish there was more of them, and more really strong one's like Boa and Big Mama (even though she hasn't been revealed yet) Other than that they're way better than the ones in Naruto, and DBZ. But Bleach and Fairy Tail do good jobs too.

I think Brook is like a Bard. He can inspire his allies with music making stronger, or can revive them with hope. To his enemies he can demoralize them and make them weaker through intimidating music.

Bounties mean a lot, but their not everything.

It's the 600th chapter. I don't care if Oda has to make it 40 pages long, I really want the Strawhats reunited by at least the last page.

All I'm saying is that it makes sense that we havn't seen strong Bounty Hunters yet because they're rare. There are quite a few things that have to play into each other for someone to become a bounty hunter.
As you said he doesn't like to receive orders–> no marine
at the same time he has to respect the law to great extend-->No pirate/outlaw etc
He has to like fighting to the extend that he'd put his life on the line-->fighting strong opponents
adding to that he can hardly have a real goal in live because bounty hunting is usally just a way to make living instead of moving towards a certain goal.

There are, of course, circumstances where it would make sense to be a strong bounty hunter, but it isn't exactly something you'd see very often.

Maybe they have a goal along the lines of catch 100 over 100 million Beri bounty heads, that would be a difficult goal unless your seriously strong. Or maybe they want to be the strongest person in the world, but don't want to become a criminal, pirate, or marine. So they take on the strongest bounty heads they can find in hopes of becoming stronger during the battles.

Seeing a strong Bounty Hunter makes as much sense as seeing a strong pirate or marine. If there's money to be made, then there's people willing to make it.

To whoever said kidnappers and slavers were bounty hunter, how very wrong you are. Kidnappers take random people, including citizens and fish folk to sell to slavers and the like. Slavers are basically the same as kidnappers. I don't recall bounty hunters like Zoro doing any of these kinds of crap.

Those supernova twins are at about the same level the monster trio was before the time skip. I'll be disappointed if Zoro or Sanji cant take them both out easily.

I have very high expectations for the strawhats, why? Well this is the first time ODA has done such a powerup in 600 chapters and its not likely he will do it again. Those guys should already be at 3/4 of their full potential or so.

Lets not forget, Realistically Zoro and Sanji have to get strong enough to give the admirals a tough fight if not become stronger than them

Agreed on the strength that Zoro and Sanji need to get too. Like Ben Beckman, Marko, and Jozu can fight with Admirals.

Another thing would be, that, after capturing a really big bounty (500+) there is no reason to continue bounty hunting. You've already got enough money for the rest of your life.

So the only reason a bounty hunter would go after a Luffy-like bounty, is because of a sense of justice. In that case he would be better of as a marine to begin with.

That leaves the possibility of a bounty hunter that goes for big bounties just for fun and not to make a living. But I doubt there would be a lot of people like that. Therefore it makes sense, that we haven't seen any strong bounty hunters yet. Maybe we'll see one or two later on, but those won't be Bebop-like bounty hunters.

Thats not neccesarily true. If the BH has a large group of people to take care of like a family or even village they would have to catch multiple bounty heads. Also, maybe they just enjoy the fight the way Luffy loves to fight, and they want to fight nothing but strong people and be rewarded for it without having to take any orders. Then you'd have a bounty hunter I could get behind.

We would not have seen any good Bounty Hunters if they are all working in the New World. Logically there's no reason for a strong bounty hunter to be in the Grand Line, the profit would pale in comparison to the New World.

Instead of all the pirate vs pirate and marine vs pirate fights we could have something new. Maybe some powerful pirate like Kaidou has a girlfriend who is a pirate but very few know of the relationship. She captured and turned in because she has a descent bounty. Kaidou finds out and sends some of his descent crew members to kill the bounty hunter, but they are defeated an turned in for money too. Now Kaidou has lost face. A Yonkou losing face could have great implications in a world like One Piece where the balance of power is so brittle.

I don't think Oda ever stated if Mihawk was a pirate, or in general a very powerful person with a big reputation. But if he isn't one then why in the hell is he one of the seven pirate warlords.

The problem is A. There is no "Shichibukai level of strength". Compare Crocodile and Moria to Kuma and Doflamingo, B. If there was such a man/woman, eventually a conflict between him/her and a Yonkou would be inevitable, and we are back to my discussion.

And C. Mihawk is probably equal to post-Time Skip Blackbeard as the strongest of Shichibukai. It's not so easy to be on his level.

Im just saying shicibukai as a general area of strength, which from my standpoint i'd say Moria was the weakest in my opinion. Not saying he was always the weakest since he went toe to toe with Kaidou, all though it could of been a very young Kaidou who is nowhere near his current level of power.

The shicibukai are some of the strongest characters introduced, but im sure there are non marine/pirate characters who are of near the same levels of power.

The Yonkou are some of the strongest people alive, and their regular crewmembers have been shown to be very strong even then. Even counting early Zoro, who was strong by East Blue standards, we have seen almost no strong bounty hunters. Any four of them would eat them alive. It's like taking a squirt gun against a anti-tank rifle.

Exactly the reason I wish there were some shicibukai level bounty hunters out there. There really should be considering the number of pirates and mairines out there. Someone who is of upper tier new world level at some point had to think he/she could be racking in tons of dough by taking down all those infamous pirates.

I say shicibukai because mihawk and shanks used to be one the same level. now shanks is a yonkou, so a bounty hunter on mihawks level could potentially take down a yonkou in a one-on-one fight.

Depends on the size of the organization, and the nature of the allies they have if they have any in the first place. Say for example you have a grouping a 4 islands where the main job is bounty hunting, and plenty of them are strong, even for the New World. I could see them standing up to a Yonkou. Say they got one of Kaidou's and he doesnt have a real like whitebeard where if you hurt one of his crew everyone coming for you. I could see bounty hunter standing up to a Yonkou.

Not really. There probably are some, but still fodder going up against the likes of Brownbeard or that crew Kidd killed. I can't think of any of them going after a Yonkou or any of his allies without said Yonkou going to wreck their shit.
