The question is, why would he want to do either of those things anyway? Surrounding himself with lightning as a kind of shield would be useless, because he would be better off just becoming lightning. Same goes for shooting lightning without turning into it. Only use I can see for it is when Enel would want to secretly use his powers without showing the people he has that ability. But he's just not that kind of guy.

RE: Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
But that was not haki, it was the breath of all things.
Which is why he can use it to cut steel, not devil fruit powers.
If it were a devil fruit cutting ability (haki or anything), then it would be very reasonable to asume it would also cut logia users. So far there has been no ability to cancel devil fruits that made a distinction between logia's and other devil fruit users. However that discussion is pointless because as we have seen with Kuma and probably some other devil fruit users, Zoro cannot negate their devil fruit. Therefore the breath of all things allows him just to cut steel (and maybe other materials in the future), the only reason he could cut Daz Bones is because Daz Bones happens to be made of steel.

RE: Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
I think he meant to include logias because it would have been haki.
Yes, exactly. So nefra sorry bud but there was nothing to fix.

RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
Shoot… huh, so either Mr. 2's Fruit is just unsuited for combat (which is a shame, because his mix-and-match powers could be put to very interesting use) or he's just way too focused on only fighting with his body.
...
Actually, the Chopper thing makes me think of something that's a bit weird. Don't most Zoan users return to their base form when they are knocked out? Chopper returns to his hybrid body... Which, granted, is the form he's in the most. Could it be that Zoan users have an internal image of their "true" forms, which determines what they turn into when they lose consciousness? Could that be why Mr. 2 was able to copy Chopper's hybrid form? Because for him, it's his "true" body?
Or maybe…secretly Chopper is a racoon after all! XD

RE: Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
You were probably reading my post in the other foreshadowing thread. It's mainly the "of all things" part that makes them related to me. Roger can hear the voice of all things, while Zoro can hear the breath of all things. It's still not exactly clear what either of these turned out to be, although like I said in the other thread, they both could very well just be uses of Haki.
Zoro's in particular seems like it could be Haki, especially because it allowed him to cut through the Devil Fruit power and such, although it seems slightly different and more dramatic than the other uses of Haki we've seen up to this point.
But yeah, that's why I mentioned that they are foreshadowed. There doesn't seem to be an explanation of it because it's left intentionally vague for now.
The fact that Zoro could cut Daz Bones really had little to do with the cutting of devil fruit powers, it was purely because he could cut steel. Otherwise as from that moment Zoro should have been able to cut any devil fruit user.

RE: Chapter 634: "100.000 vs. 10" - Discussion
Exactly. The "avenger" character doesn't only appear in Darth Vader. Sasuke and Magneto are just two popular examples.
First of all, Magneto is IMO pretty much all different. The Coby that you described and Vader both became "the bad guys" because they suffered a breakdown of some sorts. Magneto has pretty much just slipped a bit further to the bad side, he was never truly good to begin with.
Second: its not bad to re-use certain stuff, after all better copy something good then make something new that sucks, however if two totally unrelated people spot the resemblance so easily, then you`re doing something wrong.

Spot On! Precisely what I wanted to say! Haha.. But no, dun think will happen.
Nah me neither, wouldn`t be very original would it? :P
-
RE: Chapter 634: "100.000 vs. 10" - Discussion
I think it's too plain if Oda turns the story into just Coby as an epitome of the marine against Luffy as the epitome of a pirate fighting against each other. Smoker is Luffy's "Sengoku/Garp." I think pretty soon, we'll see Coby turn into one of the strongest, if not the strongest marine out there, then he'll start to take out the strongest pirates one by one. He'll be feared by pirates in the New World because of his coldness and brutality, propelled by the trauma he received as a pirate's servant. Then he'll face Luffy. Epic battle. Luffy brings him back to his senses. But that's just my theory.
That entire theory reminds me of someone… oh wait I know! This guy!

Yes the pic is disturbing but it has nothing to do with the real Don! Personally I find getting worked up about a girl whom in most pictures looks 14 years old (and acts like it too) at least just as disturbing.

Heat detection is still based off of electromagnetic waves like light. And I don't think its a stretch to say Absalom's invisible powers make him undetectable by means of any frequency of electromagnetic waves and not just the frequencies that constitute visible light.
Yeah…that totally is a stretch, there is nothing pointing even remotly in that direction. Besides the logical conclusion is right in front of you
- Moria dispatches Doppleman away
- They change places
- Doppleman turns into those bat thingies and flies away
Close enough to disappearing and its a way to use his devil fruit that is plausible as we have seen it before. Please don't say Donflamingo would have known that Moria could do that, if I were him i`d keep such a damn good escape move a secret too.

RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
@Speed:
Zoro not fighting Mihawk for the title of worlds strongest swordsman would not be bad writing if he was avenging the death of Mihawk.
Yeah it kinda would, unless Mihawk would be beaten by someone who also respects a fair fight in swords, Zoro would never be able to truly claim the title of worlds strongest swordsmand, thus ruining his amibition. I don't think Shilliew is the kind of guy who cares about honor in a fight.
-
RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
From my stand point I think that if Shiliew beat Mihawk it would put actual weight on the battle between him and Zoro. I mean one way it would be: "Oh no, that guy is like a super-good swordsman!" the other: "Holy shit! That guy beat Mihawk! That means he is the worlds best swordsman!" I don't care either way but if he wins either of those fights he will be considered the best.
No I totally disagree with the Shilliew beating Mihawk theory. Mihawk has been seen as the strongest swordsman in the world for quite a while now. For him to just be beaten by someone who was actually around for a lot longer, seems strange. They could have easily fought years ago when Shilliew was an impel down warden, causing Mihawk to lose his title back then. This not happening could be for two reasons:
1. Shilliew doesnt care about said title, therefore he never bothered to dual Mihawk. If this is true and Shiliew would for some reason beat Mihawk now, that would really ruin Zoro's amibition for me, as he would have to take the title from someone who doesnt really care about it.
2. Shilliew was simply not strong/skilled enough to defeat Mihawk. If Shilliew were to beat Mihawk now, he must have gotten stronger then before, but is that realistic? He has been around quite a while and I doubt he had any trouble training in ID. It would be like Garp or Sengoku suddenly becoming much stronger. Off course he could have also beaten Mihawk using some sneaky trick, but that would really ruin the whole title for me.I think if it comes down to a climatic final battle between the Strawhats and the Blackbeard Pirates, it would be more like Zoro having to fight Shilliew with a handicap (like wounds from the fight with Mihawk) or Shilliew pulling all kinds of dirty Cabaji like tricks on Zoro. He doesnt seem like someone who cares about fighting fair or swordsmans honor to me.

RE: Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
A man's romance ? It's wearing an armor.
Heh romance allright :PAlso I think the reason CP9 do not have all the training some marines get is because they are more like a spy agency instead of battle hardend soldiers. They specialze in undercover work. Off course taking out targets with Rokushiki is part of that but Haki doesnt have too.

RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Yes, from birth. And thus he didn't need someone to teach it to him. He learned on his own. At first I'm sure it was like for Aisa and Coby, but he discovered how to control and use it on his own… kind of like what I'm suggesting for Sanji.
I can't really agree. It has Luffy's problem most of all, granted. But it would almost diminish the whole "We need to get stronger for Luffy's sake!!" theme if there's such an immediately present problem that once again only Luffy can even do anything against. And there's again the whole it taking so long to learn Haki thing. Rayleigh thought that he'd have a chance of "somehow" beating the basics into Luffy in 2 years, with Luffy being exceptionally talented. It just makes more sense to me that they've already began delving into it - to a lesser extent than Luffy, yes, but even so - and will have to improve as the series goes on, rather than it having to take what, several arcs until they can even begin to use it.
Is it really such a immediate present problem? We havent seen the damn swamp man in a while, only heard of his actions and I don
t really see how a lot of people think he is that strong. He seems like a pretty simple thief character to me, something to get the strawhats suspected of a crime but not monster trio material. I mean he let Franky sneak up on him in the most silly way imaginable. I
d say the immediate threats are Hodi and VDD, and both Sanji and Zoro seem pretty well equipped to take those on. -
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
I thought that all Haki users were "born" with the ability but just had to learn to control it?
I suppose thats true, but Aisa for example seems to be born with much more control over it than a regular child. Same could be for Enel
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Coby just "suddenly" awakened it, though. And delusional though he was, I'd like to think that if Enel had been "trained" to use CoO he wouldn't be thinking of it as a divine gift or whatever. And see the rest of my post for more on the Logia thing.
True Coby was a pretty special case, I cant really put my finger on it.
Im not saying Enel was trained in it, I
m saying he had it from birth like Aisa did. Thus a birthright which he could pretty much identify as divine.I
ve seen the rest of your logia post, but it doesn
t change much. Fighting Logia users has not been the eternal problem of Sanji and Zoro, it has mainly been Luffys problem. The only times Sanji and Zoro fought a logia was with Luffy there aswell. Besides that neither of them has really expressed irritation over not being able to hit logia's while Luffy has been commenting on it since he met Smoker. It only seems natural that Luffy would be the only one able to beat Logia users at this moment. Also Crocodile and Doflamingo seem to be doing pretty well, and neither one has shown signs of Haki
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
I thought it was pretty heavily implied that Enel and his priests just got it from birth, as opposed to learning it. Hence Enel considering it "A power worthy of a God!" or whatever he said. I also can't recall where it was said that Mantra is "popular" on the Sky Islands; Gan Fall, who had ruled Skypiea for years, didn't know much about it. Like I said, I find no particular problem with Sanji merely having awakened it on his own. If Enel and his priests could, I don't see what's stopping one of the crew's "monsters". It just feels troublesome to me to think that he can't do anything to even the weakest Logia users around and won't be able to for a looong time.
Please stop stretching the logia thing, logia's are rare, its not a shame not to be able to defeat one.
Also we all know Enel was dillusional so we can't really take his word for anything when he talks about divine powers.
Also big difference between having something for birth (can also be read as: the affinity for CoO to be genetically transferable) and thus being able to use it since childhood (aisa) and just "suddenly" awaking a certain power. Very big differenceAlso what are you basing that last point on? The fact that all vice Admirals seem to have it? The Strawhats are not Marines. A lot of Vice Admirals also used parts of rokushiki, are you suggesting anyone who wants to be top tier has to learn that too?
-
RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
Well if that's not enough for you then I have no more =/ What else is there to say? Blackbeard's fruit is supposed to be unique, it has been presented to us as such… it just doesn't feel very likely that there'll be another one capable of doing the same thing.
I guess we can't finish this discussion then. I was hoping i'd missed something but just the fact that Blackbeard is supposed to have an unique fruit can't convince me. If i`m correct no one within CP9 (close to the goverment so likely to know a thing or two about that devil fruit book) knew which powers those devil fruits held, so it could be that the fruit wasnt in the book, and Blackbeard was wrong.
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Thing is, Haki is being used in the story largely for the reason of not having to come up with convenient weaknesses for every Logia user around. On Zoro's part, it only makes sense that Mihawk would've taught him such an important ability, and while I realize that it's a little more iffy for Sanji I don't think it would really be such a big deal. I understand what you're getting at, but see, I think that problem can easily be solved by them simply not being as good as Luffy are at it and/or not even having all 3 types. Luffy's still going to be the best Haki user of them.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but if they just up and discover Haki in their fights during this arc wouldn't that diminish Luffy's training even more? >_>
So Enel & CO didn't learn Haki on "instinct", without a guide or a teacher? I don't think it's such a big deal as you make it out to be. Oda has given multiple people "free tickets" to Haki already. Sanji, who is one of the crew's top fighters, getting one to the CoA type so he doesn't have to be useless vs. Logia users for like a year wouldn't be a big deal, to me anyway. As for Iva, again we can't say that for sure because we didn't see their encounters, and as I recall he said "Where did you get such a power!?" to Luffy, as in "How can you have that power!?" more so than as in "What kind of power was that!?". That's how I read it, anyway. It would really be odd for one of Dragon's more important lieutenants to not even know about Haki tbh.
The ideal situation IF they were to learn haki at this point would be for it to be hinted at during their training but require a heat of the moment situation to truly be able to use it. Same as Luffy's CoC used to be. That way I could live with it.
However I think its totally unneeded for them to have Haki at this point. You`re stretching the whole logia point to far. Not everyone of the monster trio has to yet be able to defeat a logia user with Haki. For those few logia's around (its a rare fruit) they have a captain with full Haki knowledge. Haki isnt the ultimate treasure here, it can still be the monster trio with only one of them having it. Just like with devil fruit powers, one can be freakishly strong without Haki aswell
-
RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
Because as you said it would make Blackbeard's fruit way less unique and pretty much insta-kill most of its hype. Oda would almost certainly not do that, hence Califa's fruit almost certainly can not remove Devil Fruit powers.
No I can't say thats enough reasoning for me to go with it. I think its a little weird that the only one's to come in contact with her ability where not devil fruit users. If Oda wanted us to know it didn't work on devil fruit powers, why didnt he have her use it on a devil fruit user aswell? For example an attempt of hers to stop Monster Chopper (just an example, please dont go further into that particular situation).
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Luffy learnt all three types though, remember? And it took him 1 1/2 years. If Sanji learns Armament Haki only in 2 years… I really can't bring myself to think of that as terribly unfair, even if he wasn't specifically training for it. He is a fellow "monster", after all, and honestly hitting Logia users feels like a pretty essential quality for one of the crew's top three fighters.
I
d still feel cheated if all three of the monster trio could suddenly kick logia user ass by means of CoA. Luffy has beaten two logia's before without using Haki. I
m sure Sanji could come up with a way, or at least discover Haki usage at the time is would be needed, not have it already. With Luffy it was pre-timeskip forshadowed that he would learn Haki. For Sanji or Zoro to have it aswell would be like:
-Luffy: Im going to learn Haki -Zoro: I
m going to learn to master the sword
-Sanji: Im going to run from okama's and learn how to cook –timeskip-- -Zoro: I
m a better swordsman
-Sanji: I got loads faster and can cook food that makes you fight better(or something)
Luffy: I learned to master Haki
Zoro & Sanji: Oh yeah btw, we learned that tooIt would feel much better to me, to have Sanji and Zoro discover Haki later on, for example during their fights this arc
-
RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
No, it almost certainly does not include Devil Fruit abilities.
and what is the base for this argument? we have never seen it used against devil fruit users and neither has it been clearly said wether it could or could not remove devil fruit powers. All she says is: "The bubbles I diffuse from my body can remove anything from stains and dirt to strength and more"
More could very well be devil fruit powers aswell
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
It would kind of make more sense for Sanji to have Haki now than to have to learn it from scratch though, considering how long it took Luffy to just get down the basics and he was like a super-quick learner. Do we really want Sanji, one of the Pacifista-one-shotting "monsters", not to be able to fight even the most weakshit Logia users for another year or so? Maybe he didn't learn it from Iva, but there's always the theory of DJ utilizing CoA to protect his leg from the heat. Personally I would love it if Sanji had discovered CoA on his own somehow, but calls it "Love Armor" or w/e.
Its not about what we want, ITS ABOUT WHATS FAIR!
sorry :P had to do that
anyways, I
m not excluding that fact that Sanji could have Haki, although I
m not sure Id really want him to. At least he shouldn
t be very good at it. It feels a bit cheated that Luffy trains under a Haki expert to learn it and Sanji can just master it aswell. I mean, Iva the one person you`d expect to teach him hasn't shown any mastery of Haki, at least I can't remember him/her doing so. -
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Never heard of heat doing anything to swamps but if you want to grasp at straws that's fine. I think i'll stick with the solid theory of luffy being the only one capable of hurting Caribou with haki, especially since it would bring haki to the attention of the rest of the crew.
agreed with at least the first. Heat has as much effect on a swamp than it has on normal water
-
RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
I was just rereading some old chapters and I came across something that might be interesting.
A lot of discussions seem to be around Blackbeard and his devil fruit ability, and a lot of them about him being able to negate other peoples devil fruits. However when rereading the Enies Lobby arc I came across the Awa Awa no mi again, or Kalifa's devil fruit.
Now at some point during the fight with Nami, she states that her bubbles can remove anything from a persons body. Do you think this would include devil fruit ability's? Because if that is true, then Blackbeards fruit(or what we have seen of it) all of a sudden isn't that special anymore. -

@Sonic:
^ Just what we need, comments about his arms.
Well yes, I think the balance is too far off to be drawn by anyone who could foreshadow a new outfit for Zoro. I believe its just a fan made picture with nothing to do with the story whatsoever

RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
As I was searching the net, I came across this picture.
Possible model for Zoro's new outfit?
The arms look a out of balance, one is way more muscular than the other

RE: Chapter 616: "Anniversary of Revenge" Discussion
I understand that and thats probably his major fault on his chances but, the fact that people believe Hodi can/will change, why cant Hyozo change after his battle.
But change enough to go from mercenary opponent to nakama? And that strawhats would accept that?
-
RE: Chapter 616: "Anniversary of Revenge" Discussion
Seeing how there was no new chapter this week and everyone is talking bout nonsense as of the moment, I'll throw a question out there relating to the story. People have started to jump on the Hodi for new nakama wagon for some reason, maybe I'm not see something in him that you guys are spotting. maybe its the way he orders his men with that sinister smile maybe. Honestly Hodi looks boring compared to VDD or Hyozo. now I don't believe we'll see a new crew member this arc but if there was one to join the easiest would have to be Jinbe. but here my question how would you feel if Hyozo became a possible candidate. yes I know he's yet another swordsman, but his design compared to Hodi and VDD much more interesting.
I dont think its very likely, seeing as he is very focused about getting payed for his actions. The strawhats (especially Nami) would not agree with his terms
-
RE: General Devil Fruit Discussion
Heck…that's a good question
I don't think anyone but Oda can answer that
-
RE: Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
When applying certain rules of reality, it does make it seem that Shigan is possible.
Remember, the CP9 members went through intense training to obtain certain abilities. So with that in mind, if a human practiced and train for a year on this one technique, it should be plenty possible.
Tekkai just doesn't work though. There is no way (to my knowledge) you can make any body part like metal. You can't make your face more resistant to a punch.
Yeah uhm, shigan is not possible.
The bones in your finger would simply break or dislocate. There's no use training against that you`d never grow your finger strong enough to create bullet like wounds in their body.As for the other technique's:
Kami-e: Noooo, in reality is hardly even works on paper, since paper doesnt "dodge" you trying to punch it. A human body is just way to heavy.
Geppou: Nope, you'd need feet the size of wings to push enough air down.
Rankyaku: No, same as Geppou really.
Soru: No no, no person in the world can move faster than the human eye can see, and the kicking the ground ten times thing is just silly in reality.
Tekkai: Not in the way it is displayed in One Piece. You can make you body pretty strong by spanning your muscles. But if the force is strong enough however your bones will either break by recoil. If for some reason your bones would not break your internal organs would get damaged. This happens to a lot of adults when in a airplane crash. They brace themselve upon impact and indeed manage to stay put, but the impact is so devestating it damages internal organs or in fact can even rip them out of the owners body.
