both KnY and JJK are both mediocre, but that tokyo revengers manga is straight up trash. sales aren't an indicator of quality

RE: Cowboy Bebop
the episodes being 1 hour long alone guarantees that the show will be trash

Enjoy your imaginary rules then. People will still discuss things while following the actual rules of this forum.
hopefully these discussions will be grounded in reality

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Yes, made up with works the echo the sentiment of fans that think that Hori's fault as a writer have far supressed his strong points.
i'm not talking about his opinions on the manga, but about speculating on what Hori enjoys or doesn't enjoy writing and ascribing random motivations to him without evidence
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
its because Horikoshi actually enjoys writing slice of life, he enjoyed writing the class interactions, he love his wacky class members designs.
But that doesn't sell. A lot of people here are saying Gentle arc was good now but a lot of people were also whining about how it was pointless and said to let's get this over with. It was the same for the Class A vs Class B. Dude was trying to be in his element but reception didn't react the way he wanted to. He could have stuck to it but he is too sensitive to popularity and to be honest, it is not entirely on him because the pressure of being the next "big 3" or the new "one piece" always hovers around him.He has little to no idea of how to handle battle scenes except to constantly upscale them or to reference the formula of series like Naruto and DBZ because its the "shit that sells". Half of them stuff he has been doing in terms of worldbuilding and power ups weren't even original and saying half is me being generous. He is really good at capturing emotional moments and doing SoL, but because of the nature of the series combined with his need to pander and sell, the series is being bogged down.
you made all this up lol

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
the todoroki family plot and all for one are the best part of the manga
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
The whole passing the torch to it's protegee is null if your whole plan was to hijack your protegee's body.
AFO was never planning to pass the torch he was only using and manipulating shigaraki like he does with everyone else. he directly tells us this in his first scene
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
making AFO's post Kamino discourse null by having him hijack Shigi.
what are you talking about

RE: Cowboy Bebop
this is so bad lmao.
if they're just making another "lol so quirky" marvel type show, what was the point of calling it cowboy bebop in the first place -

https://understandingsociety.blogspot.com/2021/10/striving-for-consensus-in-nazi-germany.html
Interesting insight on Nazi Germany's consensus politics."Soft dictatorship" at home, with a willingness to compromise when public opinion appears to demand it, along with consistent planning and action in support of the underlying racist ideology – that is a very different understanding from the traditional view of Nazi dictatorship. And yet it is a worrisome illustration of the power that charismatic, malevolent leaders can exercise over a mass society.

RE: Vivre Card: One Piece Visual Dictionary
When the majority of them are represente by ugly cross-dressed man with exaggerate masculine facial features and some with a gap of being pervs (like the ones that took Sanji to Sabody) yes, the representation is not quite right.
Bon-chan and Iva-chan are the ones that Oda has done that somehow mostly avoid fitting in the above.yes i know, i have read one piece. i'm not saying that trans people shouldn't be offended or that one piece's depiction is perfect. what i am saying is that there's a dissonance between what i read online and my experience where the repreentation in the manga (the okama included) made me more accepting of trans people. that's why the complaints feel weird to me personally. i'm not saying anyone should change their opinion on the matter.
-
RE: Vivre Card: One Piece Visual Dictionary
it's feels weird to me when people say one piece's depiction of trans people is dangerours or harmful because it's what made me open to the entire idea back when i was 13

RE: Chapter 1,017: The Order
Ok. I was using Magellan as an example, because it was brought up as an example. For the sake of that argument, it would have been if IVA used her hormones to make the Awakened Zoan guards inept.
In you opinion, based on how the story presented it, aren't the Gifters a considerable threat though?
After all, we spent 2 entire arcs where our heroes main goal was to stop the production of this Gifters.
We were led to believe that it was the Gifters that gave the beast pirates an Edge.
So if Tama takes out that edge, shouldn't that be considered a really big deal?
Or am I completely misunderstanding the text.
they are a big deal but not the biggest deal kaido and his officers are the main source of tension.
and tama doesn't control all of them anyway–- Update From New Post Merge ---
In fact, it would have added more to their numbers.
she has a limit to how many dangos she can produce so not really

RE: Chapter 1,017: The Order
Because Krieg is a coward with no determination. He fled from the grand line, basically giving up his right to call himself pirate.
he got out with the intention to go right back in, he wasn't shaken by mihawk at all, he even tried to attack him. is luffy a coward because he took a break for two years?
True, a dream itself is not enough, it needs to be backed up by determination/willpower/ambition etc. (in other words, haki). More determination and smiling in the face of adversity literally makes you stronger. See Coby going from an utter pathetic loser to now being superhuman. But being born with super duper haki that no one else can get, no matter how much they change throughout their life, just feels so hopelessly deterministic instead of idealistically romantic.
natural ability is still something that has always existed in the series, sure the new haki takes it to an extreme (that i don't like either), but one piece always had some nuance to its idealism, there is going to be one pirate king after all and only one person can be "the freest in the world" no matter how determined the rest are.
-
RE: Chapter 1,017: The Order
the theme of OP wherein you can achieve anything so long as you have the dream.
was that ever a theme though? sure dreams, and believing in your self are portrayed as good. but it was never "anyone can literally achieve anything they want as long as they believe hard enough"
Don Kreig had the dream but is never going to become pirate king. -
RE: Chapter 1,017: The Order
The best example being Impel down. Iva healed Luffy yes. But every other escapee was still in danger of the poison. If Iva as a plot device was similar to Tama, she would have injected hormones that made all her allies immune or ignore magellan's poison. Because the poison was one of the big threats.
the poison wasn't just one of the big threats, it was the main threat, your scenario is equivalent to tama taking out kaido.
you keep inflating the importance of tama's contribution to fit your argument -
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
What really throws me are the people saying that Deku's being selfish by doing it alone. It's the exact opposite- his reckless selflessness is once again putting others before his well-being, except this time it's not in a brief burst. Without a proper support system, and with all the pressure of stopping the League, he's clearly burning himself out.
that will be fine if his death/capture didn't mean total victory for AfO. the pros are being dumb as hell by letting him wander around alone.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Can't say whether Nagant was last minute, but HSC conducting covert missions of such nature was strongly hinted before.
they were portrayed as shady and corrupt, not authoritarian mass murderers that's a big difference to be told in just a few pages in a flashback, it's something that should have been developed throughout the series.
for example if they have no problem with extrajudicial killing why didn't they kill AFO in tartarus, why didn't they kill any of the heroes that joined the MLA if they care so much about their image, why haven't we seen them target any of the villains in the story do they just care about small time criminals? etc…
the reveal is just not consistent with what we have seen before. -
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
