Diane's Gaiden was split in two, remember?
Yup, I actually meant the first part of her gaiden

I though Dianes first gaiden was pretty good, the second though could have been better
Silly MetaMario. Character design only matters with male crew members. Were you actually wowed by either Robin or Nami's designs? (A Third Eye is definitely a step up from either of those two's designs)
Puddings introduction:

Robin introduction:

Pudding might have a more unique feature not seen in any character so far but execution- and introduction-wise, Robin is just on another level and even she doesnt come with a generic design.
Third, Escanor appearing is probably the most annoying thing. Now he doesn't need the literally sun but Merlin can do? Even if that worked to get him out of the illusion(because it's on his mind) he should turn back to his normal self once the illusion end. Even when she isn't literally here, Merlin manage to pull some convinient deus ex machina.
This.
People complaining about Diane's powerup with her golems which makes actual sense yet praising Escanor's super cliché transformation. "My love is my strength!" Please.
As for Robin's morbid sense of humor, I'll believe you on the idea that it was there sooner, its been a couple years since my last re-read… but I really don't remember that coming up much, or at all, till after Enies Lobby. I don't remember her really having any sense of humor or quirk to her until Thriller Bark, (but you can't really judge her by how she acted during Alabasta or Water 7 since they were extreme situations for her) and even now her comedy is pretty restrained and rare compared to the rest of the crew with her only getting her first facefault among the tontatta... but then, that's not a discussion thats been argued a million times the last couple years like it has been with Jinbe.

a few instance that I remember where we get to see that aspect of her character before W7/EL
I dont know if it just me but I really dislike how Robin's sprouting limbs look like since the timeskip lol. I mean, I can get behind the decision to make her look paler than before, but her sprouting limbs are even more pale than herself. It looks like they dont really belong to her body. It's weird that they dont outline the limbs.
Yes, this is the best opportunity for Chopper to get his numbered chapter.
I think Robin will get hers if we have an arc based on the Revolutionaries or when the plot gets really heavy with the Void Century.
I guess if Oda can give Robin a mere 1 million update after EL just to keep the "balance" within the crew, he might aswell do the opposite and give Zoro a 200 million update to do the same thing lol
I didn't realize one or two games means we're stuck with this thing FOREVER.
Calm down.
To be fair, he got a point.
As soon as Sabo was revealed to be alive, he instantly became one of the faces in the upcoming games, which are so far Pirate Warriors 3 and Burning Blood. Thats 100% lol and you can bet that he will ALWAYS have a big role in games. It is sad to see the rest of Strawhats not only get the short stick in the manga but also in games.
I'm not saying he's going to join, I'm just highlighting why people entertain the notion.
And these points are pretty loose tbh. I mean Bellamy? He just doesnt fit the crew. And he was a minor antagonist who made fun of their friends. Yes, Robin did that too but she is like the biggest exception to this as she practically invited herself into the crew and her plot relevance more than makes up for her shady past. Bellamy doesnt have that. Oda would never repeat the "bad guy turn good" for a future Strawhat especially with someone of insignificant existence like freaking Bellamy.
Why can't just Robin fight Baby5?? Or someone else she may be actually able to defeat, why it has to be the guy that lifts ships, explodes and moves way faster than her??
Why can't Trébol-sama get defeated by someone that actually has the strenght to, and fits the oponents of the other executives including Vergo. Law, Zoro, Kyros and Robin sounds terrible.
I didnt say that she WILL fight Trebol (in case you are refering to me).
But since she goes UP, the possibility that she faces Trebol is higher than her facing Baby 5 who is like 2 Levels down from her. We dont know why she goes up and where she might end up. There are 3 ways to go for her: Sunflower field (highly unlikely), inside the Palace where Dofla and co are (likely) or to Leo and the other (likely as well). Sooo, possible opponents she might face are Bellamy and Trebol (since I dont remember if the dwarves are currently facing someone). Just because she might fight him doesnt mean she will win, which many seem to believe so when someone dares to mention a Robin vs Trebol scenario…
Still, for Robin to beat Trebol, she would have to do a lot more than make him play whack-a-mole with her clones.
Not sure if she should be able to disperse her real body. That seems like a stretch.
Of course, but I was merely refering to her clones and not about a possible fight.
Wouldnt be a stretch to me considering what she has shown so far with her clones. Against Hammond, she dispersed her clone and then she double clutched him. Now, were they two clones? Or was one of them the real Robin? If the former is true, then Robin is capable of creating more than one clone which adds to her overall defensive capabilities. If the latter is true, then Robin was able to sprout her real body on or behind Hammond since she obviously wasnt near him when he caught her in his net.
In Dressrosa she lured Trebol out of the tower. We saw Usopp, the dwarves and herself waiting in front of the entrance and spying on the two. She created a semi-clone when she spotted that fly, more reason to believe that the real Robin was acting. She spoke with Trebol and went outside with him. He recognizes and attacks her and she disperses. Real one or clone? The chapter itself doesnt really show her actively creating a clone. So it wouldnt be farfetched to say that the real Robin stood in front of Trebol. If it really was a clone, then why wouldnt she still be with Usopp and the dwarves at the entrance? Doesnt make sense to me. She wasnt shown at all during the Sugar/dwarves confrontation, only Usopp's reaction was shown. After they went out, there was no opportunity for her to create a clone since she was in close proximity to Trebol. So she dispersed her real body when he attacked her. The next time we saw her was when she went to Usopp in the tower after it was destroyed. Notice how she wears her original clothes again? Most logical reason is because of Trebols glue that she removed her stolen clothes. Other possibility is that she sprouted herself back to the tower, Trebol destroyed the tower and she removed her clothes because of that (she also had bruises over her face which werent present when Trebol attacked her)
These arent solid proof but they are still hints that Robin is indeed capable of sprouting and dispersing her own body.
Was gonna say the same but meeh, it's pretty clear that Trébol just needs to glue the real one and Robin won't be able to do shit. Still that thing about who in the entire place can not get glued by Trébol is quite interesting, I can only think of Sabo.
And what makes you think that Trebol can detect the difference between Robin and her clones? In fact, it is entirely possible that Robin can disperse her real body aswell, the instances in which she used her clones never showed real differences between her real self and her clones.
Still got owned by every boss since she showed up. So the statement is true.
Nami and Usopp(Luffy depending on what you call owned) weren't handled by Enel. And she got handled personally by Moriah unlike the others.
You could also add Aokiji to that list
is it bad that I was facepalming whenever I heard "nakama"?
so does anyone know when and where we can watch it on stream? Thanks :)
So, are the toy soldiers even a threat anymore with Sugar unconscious?
Lets not forget that Robin is back to one of her early quirks - using nicknames for people based on appearance (Usopp=longnose-kun) or personality/job (Zoro- Mr.Bushido(kun), Sanji- Cook-san) when she called Barto "Birdy-kun". I've missed that quirk of hers!
I can't remember if she just used it for non-crewmembers or not… but doesn't really matter, I missed it
Well, iirc, she used nicknames for her crewmates before the Enies Lobby arc because she didnt trust them or because she didnt want to get too attached to them. The only one she called by name was Luffy. After Enies Lobby, she called everyone by their name. If anything, it shows that she doesnt see Barto as close as her crewmates
Robin can be count as physical fighter but it's all due to her fruit and the advantage of surprise it gives to her because it allows her to keep distance to her enemies.
Thats true but it still doesnt change the fact that her fighting style is based around physical attributes. Her fruit doesnt cast illusions of body parts or just a copy of them. They are actually her own body. If she can strangle people with one arm, then it automatically means that Robin herself is able to do the same in the right position. Just because she prefers to fight from afar doesnt diminish her status as a physical fighter.
Lol at people who want a physical female fighter in the crew and dont count Robin as one.
Breaking peoples necks and backs, using submission and wrestling moves with her own body to defeat oponents…it cant get more physical than that
I hope that Oda's health is much better now after the surgery.
But the chapter itself was pretty boring and short.
I expected much more after 3 weeks…
Well, thats not the fault of the chapter, you just had high expactations for some reason after a sudden break.
@GraphicNature:
Baby 5 will witness Doflamingos defeat like Robin witnessed Crocodiles defeat. Luffy will save Baby 5 like he saved Robin. Baby 5 will make a statement that she no longer has anywhere to go. Luffy will say "So be my Nakama" Baby 5 blushes "HE NEEDS ME!!!!" Therefore Baby 5 will be the next crew member….Hilarity will ensue with her and Sanji.....
Well, the Robin parallel doesnt even fit because Robin had her own plans while working under Crocodile. Crocodile's defeat wasnt the reason why she joined SH. She didnt trust him and tried to kill him unlike Baby 5 who is completely loyal to Doflamingo so if Luffy defeats him there is 0 chance that she will join the SH based on her personality right after her boss is defeated.
@.access:
Could people please stop posting images of old Robin? It is already hard enough trying to accept her new design by itself without having to be reminded of how much better and unique and nicorobinish she looked before.
whoopsie~~

@Mex:
Paramecia fruits are just much more interesting than logias
Hell yeah.
Since it isnt directly confirmed whether his DF is logia or paramecia, i'll go with the latter. I think we'll get a confirmation next chapter (like Robin or Sugar commenting on it).
Theory:
What if the Usopp/Sogeking relationship is turned into an actual personality split, á la Cavendish/Hakuba? That would be awesome.
That would be freaking terrible.
I am not an Usopp fanboy but I was reaaaally happy when he stood up and was just Usopp without resorting to something stupid like Sogeking or Usoland. He wants to become a great warrior of the seas? Then better be one with your own personality, your own strength, not just some random second personality. Sometimes I am feeling really bad for Usopp because people are treating Sogeking like a seperate character while neglecting Usopp's person. While he gets the unexplainable love, Usopp gets to eat his dirt. Oda should get rid of Sogeking.
@Monkey:
It's not really foreshadowing if it's just plain information reveal setting up a new plot.
Then why are people considering Noland mentioning dwarves as foreshadowing? Foreshadowing, for me that is, means that something is hinted in the past will become relevant and important later on. And that's exactly what the panels showed. We knew nothing about her character or her past. There were mere hints here and there. The relevance of poneglyphs and the Void Century was never mentioned until her flashback. That's 4 years later IRL after she said that in the tomb.

True Robin's Devilfruit is hax but she doesn't have the strength or power to use it efficiently. Her fruit is the physical type, so without strength/power then it's just like a kid with knife.
She easily bypasses it by using more arms or subduing them in a way where they cant utilize their full strength.
@HTC:
Just noticed something about Robin which i find odd.
Her power's supposed to work for a target she's seeing, right? Then how come she's closing her eyes on the bottom panel right before grabbing Leo? Wasn't she supposed to be looking @ him to be able to do that?
Well, it was never 100% stated that she actually has to see a target in order to sprout limbs on it. There are several examples which show it.
Alabasta door, breaking Yama's neck mid-fall, sprouting eyes on Luffy's arms in Skypiea, Green Bit when she informed Law, even this panel when she looked after the fly. In all scenes, she didnt see her target directly. She just has to know where exactly to sprout.
Well, Robins fruit gives her so much diversity that it is really pointless to talk about the countless possibilities she had to use her fruit efficiently. For example TB, she could subdue Moria right at the beginning but decided to wait.
did Oda changed the rules about robin's powers?her clones should not be able to run,let alone walk, because they are "flowers",and so they need to be rooted to the ground (or any other object)…now they are just a kagebushin no jutsu ....i'm a bit disappointed if that's an error.
also, don't understand why the tontatta didn't stuck to the plan to try to put the tatababasco in the basket and isted went with an all-out aggression..probably the result would have been the same ,seeing how fast sugar is,but force someone to eat something is harder than just let him/her eat that by themselves.
maybe it was her real body? She already showed that she is capable of dispersing herself in FI against hammond
Yeah, I dont see how the opening spoiled the whole arc. Some key characters arent even showed here. The glimpses of new characters dont tell you much either.
The only time an opening spoiled something huge was the third one where they showed Robin as a part of the crew although she was still an antagonist at the time.
The whole argument that the seats are roughly on the same level as Vergo, and thus arent getting beat by someone like Robin or Usopp, is pretty baseless at the moment.
We have seen NOTHING from them. This chapter showed us that they command different divisions. Hand to hand, special abilities etc. How can we assume that Vergos hand to hand prowess is on the same level as Trebols special ability? Does the latter have the exact same abilities like Vergo? The same physical prowess? The same level of CoA Haki? Just look at the Middle Trio of the Strawhats: We have Franky, Robin, Brook. The majority says that these three are roughly on the same level (I agree aswell) but each of them has a complete different skill-set. We have the physical hand2hand tank, the close-middle-long range grappler, the speedy skeleton swordsman. Each of them has opponents they can deal with pretty well and opponents they have a hard time with. Franky or Robin might have a hard time against someone with a rubber body like Luffy but Brook can deal with someone like him pretty well because of his sword and his ice abilities. But at the same, he cant really deal that much force compared to Franky and he doesnt really have a long-range attack like Robin.
The same could apply to the seats.
It's so unRobin like, it destroyed her whole characterization so far or something like that.
exaggeration at its finest.
EDIT: oops, i took it out of context i guess lol. sooorry
Well, out of the 7 male SHs, only Zoro and Sanji have been shown to be hesitant attacking a good looking woman. Or at least they refuse to go all out against them. Luffy just doesnt give a rats ass about gender, Usopp is scared against anyone who is (seemingly) stronger than him, Chopper didnt really encounter a female IIRC, Franky was already pointed out and Brook is in the same situation as Chopper (though he did defeat Jola, a female. Ugly, but female nonetheless.)
It wasn't really very good though. Because it wasn't very interesting. For me, the whole "ahhh, I need to protect the ruins so I can't fight here" thing felt a bit forced just for a reason why Yama could manage to hit her a bit, and to give Robin a reason to be angry. Not to mention the fact that Yama may as well not have had axe dials for that fight … really not very good.
If you are going to say "hey it's good because it's the best 1 on 1 fight with a woman in it!" it's kind of weapon g it's the best of just a tiny minority of fights? And in what world Robin vs Yama beats Nami vs Doublefinger I don't know. Unless you just really hate fights and are glad Robin vs Yama is over faster or something.
How the hell was that forced? Correct me if i am wrong (since i havent read skypiea for a long time) but since the time when merry was on that altar and Robin noticed something on the wall it was clear that upper yard has some historic monuments. She even beat the crap out of one of the goat fighters for stepping on a monument before she faced Yama. And his axe dials are clearly part of his fightinh arsenal since he used them against a shandian so i dont see your point. And tbh Nami having some sort of weather weapon to fight an expert fighter with a deadly df seems more forced to me than Robin getting angry over the loss of history.
Yeah, the length of this fight played a role aswell. There wasnt unnecessary conversation between Robin and Yama. Compare it to Nami vs Doublefinger where the latter just stood there whole nami wad trying to use her new weapon. That is no good. I would have prefered if Doublefinger went all out on her from the beginning and Nami manages to sneak around the small streets because of her experience as a thief (doublefinger even made a comment that she wasnt a complete amateur like she pretended to be)
I generally disliked namus fight because her opponents seem to forget that they are expert assassins and killers when facing nami
O.o that was a really really average fight at best. Actually probably even bad? It's strongest redeeming feature is that it's Robin's only proper fight. Since versus Pell can hardly count …
You barely get to see a female getting a 1vs1 a fight (not to mention a male vs female one) and this is clearly the best. No one gave a shit about gender, no one cared for the other and they fought with all their power relentlessly. Yama just wanted to kill her and didnt hold back: he smashed everything in front of him, the momnuments, trees, even Robin herself. He clearly didnt hesitate to use violence on her while Robin did the same thing: smashed him against the tree, used his own dials against him leaving him in a bloody mess, broke his fingers, threw him off the cliff and broke his back before he even made contact with the ground. Its like he already said: "short, neat and brutally effective".
It is really rare to see such a fight nowadays in One Piece.
Lol at people saying Robin is just a long range fighter. She is perfectly fine fighting close range aswell with her abilities. See Crocodile, Iceberg, Pell, Hammond. Actually it depends where her opponent is. With Moria she obviousl had to fight long range but someone like Crocodile or Hammond she resorted to close range because of their different bodies.
I like that Gladius guy.
And lol at Nami for ruining Law's plan. And I am kind of disappointed that the crew (with the exception of Momo ofcourse) was "crying" in front of Doflamingo. Instead of standing there and asking themselves if they are going to die they should prepare themselve to counter attack or to avoid his assault somehow. Kind of tired to see one of the M3 saving their crewmates yet again… But the encounter between Dofla and Sanji was cool nonetheless
It surprises me that people are trying to mention female melee/physical fighters, yet no one mentions Robin.
Sure, her DF is hax but no one recognizes that Robin uses her own physical strength to fight enemies. Remember the Hammond fight? She was able to bend his neck with 3 pairs of arms. Thats really not much and considering Robin physical appearance, one would guess that she is pretty weak physically. But she still managed it. There was even one scene in Alabasta where she was able to strangle a group of marines with just one arm.
We know that her growing body parts are actually just a copy of her own body, not some sort of projection. Thats the reason why she is getting hurt when someone slashes her hands (see Alabasta). And you know what that means? Her bigger body are made of thousands of Robins arms which means that she will feel the strain or the pain when she encounters an opposing force with her Hana-Hana limbs as if she was facing it with just her own 2 arms. Best example would be when she carried Yama in Skypiea midair to smash him against the tree. With her multiplying her hands also means that she multiplyes the amount of pain she can get. And yet, Robin is still fine after such extensive use of her fruit.
I think that Nami and Robin are a perfect balance. One is loud, bossy, expressive while the other is more quiet, morbid and more respectful.
I see no problem in their behaviour, they arent always helpless, they are independent and strong.
The only problem I see here is that Oda doesnt let them fight at their fullest. It seems Nami is out of question now and we can still hope for Robin to get a fight.
If someone wants to see a female getting beat up in One Piece:
I only really care for Nami and Robin and so far both of them are well written women. They are confident, independent and strong. They are capable of doing things without relying on someone.
@zeff:
i think that shakky has something to do with chinjoa
or more like she seems to be the main reason behind the revenge and treasure thing
yeah, as soon as I read chinjao mentioning Rayleigh, I somehow had Shakky in my mind.. Dont know why. Maybe she is her daughter lol
I want that Sanji acts seriously around women for a change like in Water 7 with Robin.
Yeah, the scene was serious but his overall behaviour wasnt imo.
