@Greg thanks for your work, both as community member and as official One Piece authority!
@Greg latest chapter cemented in me the idea that Buggy is the Mr. Satan of the OP world, and that by the end he will be known as the pirate king (at least from the majority of the OP world).
From 1 to 10, how much you think this is going to happen?
@Greg said in Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !:
BTW, I haven't mentioned it elsewhere yet but my column (the one this thread is titled after) will be returning to a bimonthly (2x per month) format for the first time in years!
YAY! Thanks!

I still can't understand how is possible that one of the punks is the traitor. Don't they upload their brain daily? How come the other 6 did not know all after day 1?
York's memories are 98% 12 hours of eating and 12 hours of taking a shit, it's entirely believable that the other Vegapunks don't bother skimming her memories because they have no reason to believe she's doing anything else.
I interpreted the whole thing as "the memories become common" not as "every satellite has to read the other ones memories", but this could be an explanation...

LOL
I meant lion fruit-user. Chuckles at anyone who thought I forgot lion appearances.
Yea, sorry, English is not my first language, maybe I tend to interpret things too literally
・The Thousand Sunny. Judging from all this use of 'sun' imagery, on a personal level outside this story, the sun represents something special to Oda which shouldn't be surprising. It's a source of pride in identity. Another symbol that's important to Oda? The lion. The lion represents a type of regality to him that while I can't go into specifics, is something that he enjoys to express in real life. I believe it's also why we haven't seen a lion in the series yet, because of the importance he assigns to it as a symbol of regal power. The figurehead of Sunny combines both of these elements into one as a lion that also looks like a shining sun. I can all but guarantee that this choice was made knowing what Luffy would Awaken.
16 chars of poor Ritchie :(
The stab thing is not much crazier than Kid shooting beams from a gun made of scrap metal. It's just a cool, turn your brain off finisher.
that's a rail gun, is a high energy projectile, not a beam!

Going after Zeff at this point would be the final nail in the coffin containing their reputation. First Luffy humiliates them completely, makes BM a laughing stock in the world, and then they don't even try to get back at Luff but rather flail ineffectually at some old man in the weakest sea. They made the correct judgement that going after the SH is the only way to win back their name
I disagree, doing both would be the only way to win back their name.
From the moment the threat is not brought to the end, all other future threats will be (to a certain degree) ineffective.
I'm boarding the Kanjuro as spy train…
If that's the case, I really hope that his real drawing skills are those of a master painter, and he has always made shitty drawings in ordert to sabotage the others scabbards.
There isn't going to be any kind of fight between Luffy and Shanks.
S: "hey Luffy, time to give me back my hat!"
L: "naa, I like it, and they call me straw hat Luffy after all…"
S: "you little son of.. it was a promise!"
Narrator: "This is the story of the straw hat that wielded the power to start big wars, the hat that ancient people used to call... Uranus!"
DOOON!
Maybe this will help? My paint skills are horrible, but you should be able to get the idea still.
16 chars of thank you!
I must be the only one who still cannot see a face in the rebels note…
With this new change in policy, and the fact that the VIZ chapters can now be read online for free without a subscription (at least in some regions; I'm not sure whether or not it's available everywhere), I want to hear what you guys think: for those who've been reading my chapter comparisons for the past few years, do you think those are still necessary/do you still want them? I'm happy to keep doing them if y'allz think they'll still be helpful and will enjoy reading them, but if you think that being able to now read the VIZ versions directly yourselves renders the comparisons moot, then it may be redundant for me to bother with it, haha.
A lot of us can't still access VIZ…
If it not is too much of a burden, I would be glad if you kept doing the comparisons!
there could be a lot of explanations for this…
the handcuffs could be made of a "lesser quality" seastone, because after all the slaves are expected to work, or they could be made only partially with seastone for the same reason.
We have also seen that powerful guys are completely chained in impel down
!
!
that would not be necessary io simple handcuffs could completely stop fruit users
ch 504, doffy wearing a bracelet.
ch 506, blueno, bracelet.
ch 592, mihawk, bracelet.http://www.onepiecegold.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/6bbb8705d837942f8bc175e240395306.jpg
was wondering if Greg has commented about this ever.
was reminded of it because in the latest chapter mihawk isn't wearing it.
BUT, I haven't kept up with all of their appearances so maybe we've seen him before without it on.
Maybe a fashion statement, maybe not. (Probably not because it's Oda?)
oh, nice catch, thank you
Do I wait till monday to post about this?
Has Greg commented on a certain fashion statement shared by 3 random characters across the series?
! A certain someone isn't wearing something in the latest chapter
ok I give up!
! who is not wearing what?
Lol, Oda wants to make Moria likeable, he suddenly cares about the people that he's killing.
I've done a terrible thing to these people, what a joke.Moria's slightly new wardrobe is nice, he should get a new set of pants, grow a beard and PEFECTION.
Also, BEST FACIAL EXPRESSIONS.
He looks so happy when he sees his rapey-harrassing crewmate is alive.

Yea, thanks, you are probably right!
I'm really curious about the humongous gate under Oden castle, did we see it before?
To be honest this sounds like something he picked up from Franky. Didn't Franky insist on people calling him Big Bro when he first joined?
in my opinion Chopper has enough of the "the tanuki is a mascotte" gag, and is trying to get more credit :D
And how many times have we seen a weapon user continue fight after their weapon is broken?
well, just the shield is broken, the sword seems ok….

Pretty much. His old age […]
Oh god.. he's 41 years old, not 89!

Still I find that telling everyone to get hit by an elephant trunk is going a little bit too far.
Well, I was talking metaphorically, but yes, you are right, I went overboard, let's drop it and enjoy the peaceful discussion about the chapter, at least till the next powerlevel argument :)
Plus Oda decided to handle the situation differently, which is nice. But it still feels somewhat incomplete. I guess Jack will end up showing on Wano,so we can see a full fledged fight. If not then it's one calamity down I guess.
I don't know. Usually the shattered weapon/armor/fashion accessory thing means that the foe isn't a threat anymore.
In my opinion:
Jack is dead? Very unlikely.
Jack will end up showing on Wano? Maybe.
We'll get a full fledged fight involving Jack? I don't think so.
I wonder what you're trying to accomplish with this post. Both sides were wrong, and I dare anyone to come here and say that he predicted accurately how things would unfold.
[…]
But just not knowing how things will go doesn't mean we can't speculate about it […]
That was exactly the point of my original post, both sides were wrong, that was the only really predictable thing.
And there is a BIG difference between speculating and what we had in the threads of the past chapters, everyone was just repeating things ad nauseam, with an (for me) unexplicable overconfidence.
I don't think I was trying to accomplish something with that post, it was just an outburst, the only reaction I had the first time that I read the chapter.
Hell yea… let me quote myself:
Frankly, the certainty in their ideas that the debaters of "Zoro or Luffy vs Jack" are showing amazes me to no end.
Sure, I have an idea or two of how things may roll, but 15+ years of One piece reading tells me that I'm probably wrong.
People here talks like they have a gun pointed to Oda's head and dictate how the history must go.
now, you all boring debaters that monopolized the chapters thread with endless meaningless discussions about who is gonna beat who, go get hit by an elephant trunk… again.

@Bartholemew:
I assume that it's common knowledge in the OP world that if you kill a DF user, then the fruit will respawn into another normal fruit in the vicinity.
Therefore, considering he actually killed Thatch, it wouldn't have made any difference. He just had to have enough normal fruits at his disposal.
Nope, the common knoweledge is that the fruit reincarnates "somewhere in the world".
We only saw the reincarnation of the fruit in Punk Hazard, and if the reincarnation in the nearest fruit where commonly known, BB wouldn't have to cover WB in a black cloth to steal the fruit, nor his crew would be the first to get famous for being a fruit-stoler crew.
edit:
besides, we still don't know the whole matter, probably is more complicated than just "it reincarnates in the nearest fruit"…
shitty time for a break, as always…

Ace's death was clearly foreshadowed on a color spread and we had a first glimpse of Rocinante, for example. And who knows how many others, not yet realized.
Missed the Rocinante one, where it was?
Who will fight Jack? ask Luffy.
Also, i find the quote incredibly relevant.
 knowing the foreshadowing game Oda is up to, you could be right…
Yes! Those blood red sword handles sure match my hair!
Also, I suggest thoroughly researching all the different transportation routes you will take… train types, train times, train routes, etc. That will help keep frustrations low.
Thank you, that's surely a good idea! Someone know if Google maps public transport indications are precise enough?
@Steven:
That's quite a bit of time to be in Kyoto, even with the Nara trip. I'd try to work in a visit to Osaka, and Miyajima if at all possible.
Hakone is pretty great. I used to live in Shizuoka, and it's my wife's hometown so I go back often. If you do overnight try and stay at a ryokan, and if it's just a day trip see if you can at least go to a nice onsen. Other than that I really like the Izu peninsula but it can be a pain without time and a car.
Tokyo, I imagine you have probably covered. Have fun!Are you getting a rail pass? They let you get unlimited use of the JR rail-lines, including the bullet train, for various days/weeks depending on which one you get. They seem pricey at first but they end up saving you a lot of money if you plan on traveling a lot. Not totally necessary tho.
We will land in Osaka, so we count to visit it on the first day, sadly Miyajima is really out of our route…
Probably we'll follow your advice about cutting time in Kyoto, we are thinking about staying one more day in Hakone or in Tokyo, maybe making one day trip from Tokyo to some other place near.
And yes, we plan to stay in a ryokan at least in Hokuhida and Hakone, we like to be pampered a bit, isn't a honeymoon for that? :)
Besides that, we are a little scared because we will be there in the rainy season, I suppose that if we get tired of the rain, a onsen can be a nice B plan.
As for the Izu peninsula I'm a little afraid of driving in Japan, but there is still time, maybe I'll change my mind.
We will get the 14 days JR pass, looks like we will travel enough to make it convenient.
Thanks everyone!
Me and my fiancée will be going to Japan for our honeymoon, from the 8 till the 23 of June.
We already have a (vague) schedule, I thing that we will be:
We are open to suggestions, any advice?
Not necessarily.
He might have been based on an actor Ichikawa Raizo . Apparently Oda is a fan. For comparison, Kinemon was based on an actor Nakamura Kinnosuke, whose name served as an inspiration for Kinemon and Momonosuke's names.
Ohh, good to know, thanks…
By the way, following semi-random links after googling the names, I found out that between the many Zatoichi movies there is "Zatoichi meets Yojimbo", got to see it when my fiancèe is not at home :)
Considering that to date, we've only seen like 3 long-arms
I'm counting 5 longarms :)
yes, I know, just nitpicking, sorry… I need my fix of OP ASAP!
The other guilds lead by the wizard saints show up.
That's really the only option that doesn't involve absurd power-ups out of nowhere.
That and that lazy ass of Gildarts…
I understand what you are getting at but let's not forget that the term Fishmen is used with a lot of flexibility.
Clam Fishman, yeah Oda will just do what he wants.
Clam fishman? Missed that one, any references?
btw, I'm on the "Bepo and Pekoms are minkmens" bandwagon….
