I'm hoping these aren't it for the bosses. I mean, they're alright, I hope we get some human bosses as MGS is partly known for it's interesting villians. These MG mech enemies don't seem to have any of the personality I'm accustomed to seeing from MGS bosses.
I agree with this post.
Obviously we'll see some human bosses in the form of old enemies, but I'm hoping this isn't it for the roster. Part of the fun in MGS is going against villains with so much personality. MGS2 never really achieved the level of MGS1 but 3 was damn close.
Yeah, I'm sure they can 'talk' but something about human VS human (albeit freak of nature naturaly ability enhanced humans) is cool.
Anyway, regarding the names.
I like them. A lot.
Not only is it a callback to MGS1, with the animals, but like Killer mentioned, we also get emotions mixed in as displayed in 2 whereas 1 were just descriptions.
The names always tend to describe more about them than meets the eye (again, not so much in 2) and have a link to the overall story. It also fits Kojima's overall thesis for the MGS series:
Laughing + Raging + Crying + Screaming = Insanity = War is insane
I don't necessarily agree with EVRY w4R is teh B4d philosophy but I like his clever labeling.
I also like how thus far it seems to meet their personalities as displayed in the trailer.
Octopus was obviously cackling insanely.
The Wolf 'cried'.
And Raven was obviously seriously disturbed in his burning of corpses.
Screaming…..weeeell, can't come up with anything clever for that but we'll see!
Anyway, I actually like the names but I'm not so keen on the MAN VS MACHINE aspect. Yes, I realize the final bosses of these games are indeed machines, I'm talking about leading up to that. But either way it's far too early to seriously bitch or praise anything yet.
I'm just glad that after...what? Two years? We've seen something besides Snake running around the same town shooting red shirts.
