Fine, the point is he still kicked ass with it. And now he has Kabuto, which is a serious pirate weapon.
This, I completley agree with.

Did anyone read my response on page 6? ;_;
Sorry for being a douche. I'll just summarize my previous response: Usopp needs to do something big and assertive to redeem himself. Sniping Spandam was good, but not enough. I still like Usopp, but he does need to follow through on his character development.
Did anyone read my response on page 6? ;_;
No.
Seriously though, I agree, he's not yet done anything to cement himself as a powerhouse.
But Usopp isn't a powerhouse. He's a sneaky little bastard who likes to catch his enemies by surprise. A lot of people on here bash him b/c he can't lift buildings, kick everyone's ass, or even light his leg on fire. He fights battles of attrition, and last time I checked the only times he lost were times he was totally outnumbered, fighting THE Monkey D. Luffy, and Enel the lightning LOGIA user. I think that's pretty amazing, considering how he's such a "weakling" and how "useless" many people see him to be. He has never given up once he's determined he's going to win, he just keeps fighting until he can't fight anymore.
You totally fogot Jabura UsoppKing, but your point is made. He's not a powerhouse. People can't accept it, its their problem.
well, he technically didn't lose to Jabura…he just didn't keep fighting him...
technically, I think Usopp was about to get killed by Jyabura, until Sanji arrived…....... the way the Jyabura was fighting, even Sanji had a hard time fighting him....... not that I am saying Usopp is that weak, but he doesn't have the skill nor way to fight Jyabura....
however, that doesn't make him less of a SH....... if you ask Luffy about that, he will probably kick your ass for saying that......
well, he technically didn't lose to Jabura…he just didn't keep fighting him...
How can you not consider that a loss? It was more than apparent he wouldn't be able to continue fighting.

That and if Jyabura didn't beat someone before his fight with Sanji he would have looked like a complete joke.

QFT especially the Luffy part. He'll probably hunt us all down just for talking bout usopp like this.
Slingshot thing. I liked it a lot, but a slingshot is seen as a child's play thing. No person would take you seriously with that kind of weapon, so i think that the Kabuto is necessary. It is showing growth in Usopp, and showing that he wants to be less childlike and become more a brave warrior of the sea.
Hey, is there a name for the type of weapon that Sogeking is using, Kabuto? That is, does the extended handle make it a different class of weapons or something.
Anyway, Usopp will never get a gun. If he does get a more advanced weapon, it would probably be more of a mini-bazooka, you know, so it can carry that great ammo of his. On the other hand, maybe Kabuto is enough of a deadly weapon already. I mean, it's technically part-flamethrower now.
Speaking of ridiculous weapons, is Zoro ever gonna stop fighting with that sword in his mouth? I mean, it can only be like 10% as effective as the swords in his hands.
Sorry, this has been bothering me for awhile. I can't see how the ridiculous weapon argument applies only to Usopp.
Well Zoro cant exactly grow an extra hand Onemoment, but yea you have a point. Not just about weapons, but any talks in general. When was the last time Zoro got character development other than "I need to become stronger, I'll train, sleep, and drink all the time. La de da." That's how good Oda is. He turned Usopp into a character so great that there are countless threads on how much they hate/like him as a character.
Like that one person said in this thread,"sorry person who said this, im just too lazy to look back"
"Are we still talking about a story character" or something really close to that.
Usopp is really a cool and developed characters. Now if only Zoro stopped being two dimenional…

We're still talking about a fictional character, right^^?
By now, some people behave as if Usopp was actually going to marry their beloved little sister^^
I'm just waiting for someone to lecture Usopp about the importance of proper education:
"Usopp, you shouldn't go for arabic studies, you should study economics or you wil never be able to earn a living!"
^_^
…but as a zoro fan, zoro being plain and simple is just fine with me^^

Yeah, it's cosmic's. She did an awesome job making that, didn't she?
Kudos, CosmicDebris
That and if Jyabura didn't beat someone before his fight with Sanji he would have looked like a complete joke.
HAH! I suppose being a giant scary werewolf with a douriki almost identical to Kaku has nothing to do with strength.
Jyabura was a very interesting CP9 and his troupe was much more entertaining during their fights than the W7 crew, which is odd since they were introduced later and had less "development".
HAH! I suppose being a giant scary werewolf with a douriki almost identical to Kaku has nothing to do with strength.
Let alone the fact that he has a lot more experience with his DF than Kaku had with his… which probably equates to equal fighting strength with the long-nosed guy.
Oh, and Tekkai Kempo. Can't forget that.
hmmm …
just enjoy the manga
That sogeking picture was freaking awesome! I rofled.
Zoro's third sword is kinda complicated. It is a freaking great sword but it's in his mouth. That means less mobility for it. If he just did a single slash then it might leave his neck open since his eyes are on his head and so is his mouth. But meh, he might have overcome that.
I think Ichimonji's greatness makes up for it. Ichimonji cuts things easier than most swords. The sword is just a back up, I think. It can parry along with another sword, meaning it blocks easier. it can be paired with a normal slash.
Zoro has overcome some problems but he can't overcome the fact his neck isn't as long as his arms.
I am getting fed up with people hijacking my discussion thread about Oda drawing himself into a corner, so I made another thread for those who wants to argue about Usopp's fighting capabilities. Damn you all who hijacked my thread discussion!
anyway, get this straight….
WITHOUT Usopp....
Robin would have long been taken on board the ship and left Enies Lobby towards Marine Headquaters!
WITHOUT Usopp....
Franky would have NOT reach the bridge in time........
WITHOUT Usopp....
No one would have delayed Spandam and the Marines from taking Robin on board the ship! (I have to mention this twice)!!!
WITHOUT Usopp....
No one would have Burned down the World Goverment flag. Because burning down the World Goverment flag makes Robin realized that she HAS Nakama that cares for her! This is freaking hell the turning point in their way to get Robin back on both fronts. Pyhsically and mentally or whatever-lly.
WITHOUT Usopp....
There wouldn't be 2 giants helping fight their way and block the marines from getting into the Tower of Justice.
I would say what Usopp does are KEY POINTS in their WAY to get back Robin. Usopp might be a freaking coward and a freaking loser (like some people here like to say about him), but what he does IMPACT the flow of EVENTS that LEAD to Robin been SAVED.
Yes, I admit that Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Nami and Chopper all did their part by beating a CP9 or two. Usopp on their other hand was beaten up. But HE did his part as a sniper......... and that's more than enough....
I repeat again....without Usopp, no one would have been able to delay Spanda and the marines from taking Robin onto the ship.......PERIOD.
You mean 'without Sogeking'.
Usopp isn't a "mugiwara." He's a pirate. >_>
hmmm …
just enjoy the manga
Probably the most wisdom I've read out of all these manga topics combined. :)
You mean 'without Sogeking'.
who cares?
Sogeking = Usopp = Sogeking = Usopp…....... they are both one and the same........
I don't think this drama with Usopp is over quite just yet.
without Usopp
There would still have 200 million gold (or soemthing liek that)
Without Usopp
There wouldn't be a buster call (since he burn the flag)
Without Usopp
Everybody is happy =D
Ingore Akatsuki the troll, there
Seriously though, i think Usopp is gonna take down buster call.
Zoro has overcome some problems but he can't overcome the fact his neck isn't as long as his arms.
ROFL. Maybe he'll pick up something from Kaku. ROFL.

Thank you, I was seriously tempted to respond to that guy, I mean, he has such a flawed argument.
Yeah though, Ussop has a chance of doing something soon, unless Luffy takes out the whole Buster Call with his last attack on Luffy.
…which is actually possible too. :wassat:
We don't know yet if Usopp really can take out the Buster Calll….. so I rather wait for Oda and see what he is planning to do with the Buster Call.....
Without Usopp
There wouldn't be a buster call (since he burn the flag)
Don't know why I'm even bothering to reply to this…but dude...do you really think they sent buster call because he burned the flag? I think you missed a few chapters...like maybe the whole story arc. XD

Yeah, that's mine, but I would like to point out that the text isn't…and I don't really like the fact that someone took my artwork without permission, altered it, and passed it around with crediting me. :getlost:
I suppose I should be flattered though. It just happens on the internet.

! Ok, people…. before the whole "I told you so" thingy starts, lets just be clear that Luffy going down doesn't mean he is down and out..... if that was the case, then we can conclude that Luffy isn't ready yet to face another Shichibukai..... or Smoker or any other people stronger than Crocodile/Enel....
! and if that was the case also, then this Gears thingy is just a waste, because he developed it to BEAT his opponents, and not LOSE to his opponents.
kljs, wrong thread perhaps?
To say he is/was a mugiwara all the time is lying. He did left the crew. So then, he was NOT one of them anymore. But that does not mean that he is not a friend. And friends help each others. And he will join again. ^^
Pretty obvious, but had to say it, sorry.
CosmicDebris: That was one freakish awsome pic! :O Keep up the great work!

! no, not wrong thread….purposely post the same posts in this thread....because it's about Usopp.....and because people tend to want to hope to expect Usopp shouting "Lufffyyy" as an indication Usopp is going to go "I HAVE THE POWER"....kinda thingy......they never understand Luffy enough........
Dude… This is spoiler. You should delete your last couple of messages before someone who doesnt 'read spoilers see them.
Spoilers stay in spoiler thread. End of story.

Doesn't make sense what you're saying ?! Yeah, we've all seen Usopp's attack, I don't think his tabasco shot or his ketchup stars are going to do anygood against the 200 marines. And why would Luffy does his attack on Luffy? DId you actually mean Lucci?
The only reason why I think Usop should stay is because he's funny and if there's a new canon on the new boat, he'd be able to use it….hmmm do you guys think there's is a canon in the boat that they are going to use to flee? Maybe Usop could use it.. he'd throw giant tobasco ball...

How ironic, you posting to me about spelling mistakes.
Anyway, back on topic, I'm suddenly concerned about the naysayers. When did Ussop fall in the eyes of the viewers?
After jyabura shiganed him in the stomach and he took it like a b!#$%
After jyabura shiganed him in the stomach and he took it like a b!#$%
Yeah, that's probably it. I mean, some people are whining about him losing to Franky Family, but Ussop was fighting stupid back then. It'd be like Sanji trying to win a boxing match.
Wait, took to like a bitch? How, he's the only one in the series to take that full attack. He got stabbed 10 times, how when should he have taken it? We only flinched and opened he mouth in pain anyway.
He should have grinned, held on to jyabura's wrist and spit in his face but im only day dreaming
After jyabura shiganed him in the stomach and he took it like a b!#$%
As far as I'm concerned, the final nail on the coffin was when he fell from the Tower of Justice after sniping the Marines on the Bridge of Hesitation. To me it acted as a signal saying "ok folks, he had his 15 seconds of glory, he's back to his Jar Jar Binks antics, you can move on".
He should have grinned, held on to jyabura's wrist and spit in his face but im only day dreaming
Your standards are far too high.
I dunno, I think the problem with Ussop is that Oda so far is trying to make him prove his worth in every other way but winning a battle, which is often lost among shounen fans.
It's never, "wow, that guy is brave for challenging an opponent stronger then him," but rather "Hahaha you got your ass kicked."
Ussops done things from trying to coax Robin to joining to convincing giants to help them and people are like "anyone could do that," but cmon, could anyone else really have done it? A lot of the stronger fighters, with the exception of maybe Luffy, don't have the conversation skills to get he message across. Zoro would just be like "get on the ship" and force Robin back, which would resolve nothing. Remember, Robin remembered Ussops words when Luffy yelled "stay with us!"
But then there's the argument that Ussop's only done as much as the Galley-La crew while at Enies Lobby, which is only part true, since the Galley-La crew hasn't been useful at all in the tower of Justice, or after reaching the tower of justice. I dunno, if Oda intended to make saving Robin as Ussops shining moment, then he droped the ball. Still though, you'd think saving someone would mean something.
Still, they have this point, Ussop hasn't done something to hammer the message "I'm usefull to the crew" in our heads yet.
But what really pisses me off are the suggestings that Ussop will never be useful or get a fight again. I mean, have they only started watching from Water 7 or something?
End vent.
Edit: I'm curious, how does everyone think that Ussop can redeem himself?
Ever hear of Greek Fire?
It's a battle tactic used by the Greeks during ancient Naval Bettle. It's a mixture of various chemicals that (when set ablaze) cannot be put out by normal means. It's similar but not quite like Naptha. It will continue to burn until all the oxygen is used up.
I'm 100% sure that Kabuto could launch a Greek Fire bomb.
I getting tired of hearing people always complain about Usopp being a weakling all the time
Face it he's a comic character with normal human strenght, a super shooting ability and an incredible punishement endurance body
And him falling of the Tower of Justice was another prove of his endurance and bring a little comedy to the tense situation
I actually like that Oda is not making Usopp become a Super-Human all of the sudden and takes a long time making small improvements in his character
Just watch Usopp in the beginning of One Piece and the Usopp of now and you'll see a couple of diferences
He's become more confident, stronger, developed better weapons and he'll continue to grow even if in small steps to become what he dreams about
So maybe by the end of One Piece Usopp might have a Super Weapon that will make him the best shooter in all the World
I getting tired of hearing people always complain about Usopp
I personally just want redemption for Ussop, not neccessarily a strength increase. It just seems that most people understand and respect beating the strongest opponents, which Ussop can't do quite yet. Ya know, Ussop's done so many little things, but they just get brushed aside and under the rug.
On the plus side, Ussop did get stronger in this arc, and with the way the stories going he's going to snipe some more. So, like I said one before, the future looks good.
I agree….Usopp is stronger in this arc.........although he was beaten up.......but he got a little braver, a little stronger and got a better weapon than his original weapon....
i would like to see him show a little on kabuto's secret and assist luffy
his weapon seems to have a lot potential
End vent.
I totally agree with everything in that post.
I do think unless Oda has Usopp win a fight or beat a herd of fodder villains shounen fans just won't see him as 'useful' this arc despite all he's done. ANd how he's grown.

I agree with you…...
another reason is that..some of us here just won't accept Usopp as a mugiwara, because he can't do major shit stuff like Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Chopper and now even Nami..........
if that was the case, I wonder why Luffy asked Usopp to get on the Going Merry WAY BACK at Usopp's home island...........

Usopp didn't stop kicking ass until Skypea. He was about on par right up until then. Stupid enel.
