(since thios relates to manga, I post the topic here, so don't bitch how it should be in media section or whatever)

Holy crap! :o :o :o
…would be my first reaction. But given my lack of faith with the movie industry, I just hope they do a decent job. Monster really is a masterpiece.
So, they finally get the rights to the one that would actually make for a good adaption. Interesting.
Now that's interesting.
The book's publisher, Shogakukan Inc., is executive producing the project. Shogakukan also was behind the "Pokemon" series.
You know, dunno how should I say it but this kinda degrade the news value of the movie.
Hopefully it gets off the ground, unlike the NGE or the Dragonball Z movie Fox was apparently doing at one stage -_-
It's very funny that you mention the DBZ film.

Eh, the more sources, the better, I guess.
I won't actually expect the movie until a theater date is set, honestly. As awesome as this sounds, I just see it geting caught up in pre-production hell and never actually getting made. Still, despite my pessimism in that regard, I do hope to be pleasantly surprised to find out I'm wrong…I just don't expect it.
Wow. Just, wow. I'm hoping it'll go through and that if/when it does arrive, it'll be a spectacular movie. I wonder, so this movie would most likely be a 'live action' version of the manga? Hmm.
I'm still in shock at this news. Hopefully it'll be made and won't disappoint (that much).
About the DBZ movie, due to the fact that Akira Toriyama wanted too much control of it, they ended up kicking him off the set. As a result of this, all studio obligations were terminated on the Japanese end… so no movie, evah!
As far as a MONSTER movie goes, it'll be extremely interesting to see what these execs come up with.
(P.S. I like that article alot better as well ^_^)

**Read this o.oSo….what do you all think?**
i'm afraid of the result… but i want to see it!
Hm. I'm interested. I better finish the series…
The moment I read Monster, I knew it could work incredibly well in live action. I mean, the ideas fit the requirements for a masterpiece film perfectly.
However, the chances of it actually becoming one are exceedingly slim. I'm setting myself up for a severe disappointment. That way, if it actually turns out to be good I can be pleasantly surprised. Yay!
Oh, and Otacon… Those ''Dragon Ball'' movie news bits you mentioned are completely unsubstantiated rumours that are very, very likely entirely false. I suggest you check out Daizenshuu EX for a bit.
FACT: Asia Carrera declined role in live-action DBZ movie.
Damn, if she was in the movie I would've wanted to see it. :D
Damn, she would've made a pretty hot Chi Chi.

I wonder if they'll be true to the original story, or if they're just "basing" it on Monster. I'd like to see it remain set in Japan.
Wasn't it set in Germany?
Yeah, I realized that right after I typed it, and didn't bother to correct myself…
I imagine they would "base" it off of Monster only… characters and setting aside, how could anyone take that whole story and properly adapt it to a 2 1/2 hour movie? It would really turn out horrific in my mind. Urasawa-sensei's work with Monster and 20CB does have a "movie" type feel in the way he presents it... but it would have to be a long ass movie for it to work.
Besides, Asian lead character + not set in america = theatre bomb
(Asia Carrera would of made a hot Chi-Chi )
