I was watching the rainbow mist filler and it appeared to have broken there. In the manga where did this happen?
At which point did merry break its mast and ram head?

When they just entered the Grand Line and met Laboon. The Merry broke its head when it crashed into Laboon, and Luffy broke the mast and stuck it in Laboon when fighting him.
Hi, this is like my first post out of lurking btw.
-
well thank you o kind lurker.
wait, so in the anime, the mast and head broke twice? once at laboon and another at rainbow mist?
-
Chopper also rippered the mast off at Skypiea, to prevent it from burning.
-
Yeah, the ship was damaged pretty badly during Skypiea. The flight there, the landing, as well as the fighting that went on aboard and around the ship. Guess it really was time for a new ship, though pushing into Aqua Laguna was a bit unnecessary.
-
hmm…. i think before they went to skypiea, the head was also ripped off from the result of the fight between bellamy with diamond head ossan..

Don't forget when they crashed into Laboon.

the mast also broke when they pulled into water 7, when Zoro was taking down the sail. Although that happens after rainbow mist

Going Merry is gone now anyway, so does it really matter when it got torn up? The first time as when it ran into Laboon, and it kept being damaged after that.

Yes I agree that pushing Going MErry into the aqua laguna was unnecessary. But I always thought that scene was meant to force Usopp to give up on Going Merry.

Actually, if you wanna get all technical when Luffy fought Johnny (or Yosaku, I get them mixed up) he (j or y) cut off part of the railing during the fight, and that was the first damage merry ever sustained.
