There are 10 spaces for new characters. There are 20 confirmed characters including Cell and Buu. But, if the whole space is filled, it would be 22 characters. Anyway, I really hope Franky is in it.

its a valid iso, once you unrar it it becomes a 1 something gig file

How import friendly is this game, as I can't read Kanji?
Played it very briefly earlier. I liked what I saw & how it controlled, fairly simple to pick and play, a la Smash Bros. The Giant Jack stage was a hoot, Sanji rocks in this game.
Hope to play more later tonight sometime.
Unlocking stuff is a fucking bitch though. You gotta play slots to unlock. Play slots after you complete story mode.
…yeah it is. After getting the bonus stage the 4th time in one go I finally unlocked something...And that wasn't even a character -_-
You save by going to options then the second to last thing and clicking the one of the left right…

We're in the same boat Carter, usually when you extract one of them, it turns into an .iso file which can be image burned through Nero… Except in this case it just gave me a whole bunch of random stuff and some module files.
What am I supposed to do to make it an .iso?

It'd be nice if there were more OP characters, let alone more characters in general. I feel kind of gypped that there's only one special attack for each character.
I'm still holding out hope that Grand Battle 4 won't be on a next-gen console, or at least the ps3…

I completely agree with you. It's pretty fun right now. But unlocking things is tedious and playing it by yourself will eventually get boring.
The multiplayer is what will keep me playin it.
I pretty much unlocked everything. Then enough 1 player and back to multiplayer =D!

i just got done playing the multiplayer with some friends of mine, and it was a straight up blast. even though i had the stock characters it was pretty fun also a lot of my friends started asking a lot of questions about one piece so i think i might have sparked a little intrest (that or they just hated the fact that i was kicking their ass with luffy and sanji). I really dont have any gripes other than not being able to cut of the time. even if you know just a little japanese then you can play this game like a breeze, except for the challenges that occur every now and then. has anyone picked up any new stages? oh and now that i think about it, my hypothesis is that this game was made for the simple purpose of being a party game to play with friends, its like smash for beginners still i think jump and bandai are on to something

Hmmm I dunno why that is. If you're having a probelm extracting multiple files (.r00, .r01, .r02) just donwload winrar and start with .r00 and it'll extract all of them. It was an iso file for me, altho I recommend MagicISO > Nero.
Anyway this game is pretty fun, I'm seriously concerned there aren't any other secret characters as no one has mentioned them yet (c'mon evilgamer if you really beat everything spoil it for us!! ^_^)

They'll all say dbs.iso 1,000,000gb whatever, but really each one is xMB packed and all together it's the iso.
I highly recommend winrar if you are having any problems unpacking it. Just make sure they're all in the same directory and double click winrar does the rest.

Anyhow, I was coin hunting and.. well, at first I didn't know how to since I didn't bother reading the mission. I just saw the coin picture and did my stuff. Next time, it was "oooooh." When I first found out that one mission made you have to jump 100 times, I was astounded until I realized that it wasn't so bad with the double jump. It looked rather silly with my character jumping at one spot or all over the place at giant jack, heh. Very nice, loving Sanji..

I'm really hoping someone posts a faq with basic translations soon… I know SOME japanese but not how to read it
wow the opening is done by the same guys who did the head la cha la opening for dbz
also on a side note it may be hard to translate the missions since (well at least for me) they come up at random (except on very hard mode where every fight is just about a challenge so) and its hard to figure out what mission your doing until it appears.

His attacks are ok but his damn jump is so hard to manage. I get knocked out of the stage everytime.

Woo! Just got mine today! So far I've unlocked Lee, Frieza, and Nami.
And to the crowd that says Frieza sucks: He would actually be good if he didn't fly like an idiot everywhere. His jump and air-dash are confusing as hell. I did find it funny that every single one of his specials is a death beam, but in a different direction. Except for, like, 2.
Very good game so far. Took a while to get used to, but now I can't stop playing. Can't wait to try out multiplayer!

I had trouble with it too at first, but this is the system I got into:
Get really, really good as one or two characters (I chose Luffy and Sanji). Then play the game on Very Hard mode, get as any coins as you can (for some reason, missions worth more coins tend to appear on Very Hard), and then when you're at the slot machine, blow them all. As far as I can tell, it is impossible to get into Bonus Mode in the slot machine by sheer skill, so just keep blowing coins until the entire slot machine goes black except for the Jump Pirates. Then aim a little bit to get three of those in a row (the slots will do most of the work for you), and then you go to another slot machine. Repeat the process above until those slots go dark, then aim for the ?s, and so on. It will take a LOOOOOONG time before those ?s will even get you characters, but once you get your first your second should follow quickly (I got all three of my characters in one trip to the slots with 90 coins).
It's really repetitive, so just keep trying with a bunch of different characters so you don't go insane.
EDIT: Oh, and a note: make sure you're really good as those characters. It took me half an hour of straight trys to beat the final boss on Very Hard as Luffy, but only five minutes as Sanji.

Just extract one of them to a place.It goes through some process that will go through all the files to extract them all for you.
So just extrace ONE to a place and burn it from there.

I like the grand battle series better. Just because you can make so many combos.
I would say its better then the gekito taisen series and super smash.
The hero (only played 1 need to get magic keys because i own 2) series I would say is a little worse though I have only played 1…..

Grand Battle: It has 4-player, so it's better if you have a group of friends. With only two people it isn't that great, though, so I guess better?
GNT: Better.
Narutimate: Never played it.
Budokai/Tenkaichi: Better.
SSB: Worse, but not by much. And that's not a bad thing, because personally I am under the impression that SSB is and always will be the pinnacle of 4-player fighters.

Budokai-Besides the first two, they're about the same.
SSBM: Worse. SSBM has that charm to it that just makes it the perfect 4 player fighting game. And it has a better health system, better stages, etc.
