they designs were made with steampunk in mind, since i have a particular fondness for the clothing design of that era, but we'll see.

also, another sketchbook dump. i've been drawing in pen a lot lately. practice on women's body (which im getting better at), women's face (which i still suck at), and just general gesture/movements, especially upside down, falling, and running poses.
oh, and ugly faces.

I stated before and about a bazillions times before, Franky just annoys the crap outta me, always has done. So yeah, not gonna pair my fave char with someone I hate….although I said that about RoCho so.

actually Franky is my least favorite charicter. He just doesn't seem to fit to me. O_o Maybe I'll be persuaded later, but I'm not sure. I kind of feel like Franky is the flavor of the month for people right now anyways, since he is all new and shiney. Everyone was obsessed with Sogeking a while back, and now no one cares.

hmmmm…. i never implied any pairings to begin with, and certainly did not have any pairing idea in mind when i drew this, so let's stop with the pairing debate, shall we? =) if you see this as FRobin, good for you. if you see this as RoCho with some franky torture on the side, that's fine, too, but again, let me make it explicitly clear that the drawing was not intended to imply any pairings. in fact, you might not be able to see it, but i think zoro is currently humping sanji while everyone's attention is focused on franky's crotch.
what's with the drawing, then? i simply wanted to draw a CROTCH, and what is more exciting to draw than a naked crotch with some hands that go grabby grabby on it?
why a crotch, then, you ask? a crotch is an excellent subject to draw. if you go on DA, you'll see that a lot of the popular pictures are mostly (if not all) MUGSHOTS. either chest up, or sometimes, chin up. i don't know what's so interesting about a face. when you learn how to draw, the first thing you learn to draw is a face. once you're happy with the faces you draw, you move on to things like anatomy and gestures and movements and poses and angled shots and whatnot. but by this logic, that means after years of perfecting how to draw a face, an artist would be entirely bored of it becuase that's all he's been drawing.
yet, it's perplexing why some popular artists on DA kept drawing faces. and they get popular because they draw faces. oh, and color them very well. however, you don't see any of them drawing a crotch. some do draw full body shots, but i bet you they spend way more time on the face than they do on the crotch. why not crotch? after all, the crotch is the part of your body that holds "WHAT MATTERS MOST." you all know what i'm talking about, boys and girls. imagine if we're all just faces with no crotch, we wouldn't even last a whole generation!
you know, sometimes i even wonder if they know how to draw something other than a face. i've seen a far too many artists who can draw a really really good face and color it really really well, but when they draw something that involves a full body shot in a complicated pose (say, slouching on the couch), they look horribly distorted. this is a body part discrimination!
draw more crotches, people. move on with the faces. crotches are good for you.

I totally agree with you ONE HUNDRED percent about people on DA only drawing heads and drawing them well and drawing other things like crapola. I for one, was very happy to see a crotch :D WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
