im talking about the tower hotel souvenir shop. If you go up stairs they have abook store with tons of manga
Hajime no Ippo
-
-
snaps fingers Oh yeah, that place!
BookOff is ten times better. And lots of book stores have big manga sections.
-
i know bookoff is better i just remembered that place wince you mentioned kyoto . I only went to the bookoff in tokyo but they are all the same
-
Ah, I thought he was Randy Boy, I just got thrown off by the possibility of him fighting Ippo.
I always just thought of Sakaguchi as a Japanese man that liked the islands, what with him being with Gregory and all.
….hey, now I miss Gregory.
-
Hmmm, what's gonna happen now that Itagaki vs. Hoshi is over? Are we gonna go straight to Ippo vs. Miyata III or are Miyata's fists still not healed?
-
I think its the prefect time to have Ippo vs Miyata. The fight must happen sooner or later and I really want to see Ippo kick Martinez ass. (which should be interesting) but lets talk about itagaki's fight, is Hoshi that weak or did we just underestimate itagaki. (the five hit counter isnt something easy to pull)
-
Both, actually. Itagaki was stronger than we gave him credit for, and Hoshi just wasn't up to snuff. He wasn't (from what I could tell) really using footwork at all, he was just throwing straight punches cause they usually work for him. But against a speedster like Itagaki it's worthless.

But if Sendo was his trainer I though he should be stronger then this.
-
Sendo isn't his trainer, he's his senpai. Like Ippo and Itagaki. Ippo doesn't actually train Itagaki, he just spars with him sometimes and offers words of wisdom.
Well, Itagaki seems to have overcome his self-confidence issue. Now he has to be careful of the opposite: turning overconfident and cocky.

oh Itagaki is overconfident and hes gonna lose again because of that.
Well yeah if Sendo is his senpai and he was confident about Hoshi then the match shouldnt have gone that way :XD
Btw who do you think is gonna win Ippo or Miyata in there up coming match? -
I honestly think Miyata will win. My prediction is that Miyata will win, then eventually he will take the world belt from Martinez. Then after that it will be Ippo V. Miyata IV for the world belt.
-
Yeaaaaah Right if Miyata were to win & then challenge Martinez that would basically contradict the eventual match up between Ippo and Martinez part of me forsees Ippo & Miyata's fight ending in a draw although I could be wrong on that but a part of me doesn't deny an eventual match-up between Ippo & Takamura (I know it sounds silly but if Takamura is going to lose to somebody it might as well be Ippo.)
-
yeah, i think ippo has to fight martinez considering that baton pass thing that ippo and date shared. Part of that has to entail Ippo fighting Martinez for Date
-
If Takamura ever lost, I'd probably throw up and stop reading.
-
If Takamura ever lost that be something to see also he wouldn't be able to keep putting Aoki & Kimura down like he's been doing for quite some time.
-
Aoki+Kimura V Takamura II. Now that would be a match to seeXD
-
Yea and Aoki & Kimura would get their asses kicked 3x worser then they did before.
-
Acually maybe they would get one or two good shots, since they are pro boxers now. But I still think Takamura would win, and I just know Aoki will screw it upXD XD

Are you looking down on the leaping frog and the look away XD plus kimura can use his amazing Dragon Fish Blow
Do you think Sendo will have a chance against Martinez. -

Do you think Sendo will have a chance against Martinez.he cant even defeat lower ranked opponents with ease. How the hell is he going to deal with ippo, miyata, vorg, etc yet alone martinez
-

Lower ranked? the only person who defeated sendo was Ippo, no one else. isnt he fighing in Mexicans right now so by the time he reaches a high rank he should be good enough to atleast give us a good fight or discover a weakness to Ippo.
-
Finding a weakness to Ippo isn't a guranteed feat look at Shimaburkuro & Sawamura each one had a plan to counter the Dempsey Roll & each failed & in the long run add on the fact that Ippo is now able to get through a fight without the Dempsey Roll and things become more difficult.
-

he fought the 22nd ranks boxer in the jbc and didnt take care of him like a world contender should have (i didnt read it, it is in the future raws. Learned this from a person at the dynamite glove forums.) I didnt say that he was defeated but there is a certain caliber of victory that you need before you can even consider before going world. He has to conquer japan, like ippo and miyata before thinking of the world
-
Maybe if Takamura was like 100 years old and Ippo tripped and fell on his life support. Maybe that's a feasible way for Ippo to beat Takamura.
-
feasible? nay, but it would be funny. He would at least be able to get him back for writing on his dick
-
And powderizing the leaves he collected.
-
There's no way Ippo will ever beat Takamura, the weight classes are just too different. And if Takamura ever lost . . . . then HnI would lose the balance of it's world. And random thought here: a lot of people were disappointed with the Takamura vs. Eagle fight (I personally liked because of the eye thing), but I don't think we're gonna see another Hawk calibre fight until Takamura actually makes it to the Heavyweight title.
And Miyata won't go for Martinez, he has no interest, and I believe he's going to be fighting in the WBC, not WBA.
Sendo has the potential, but he really does need to kick it up a notch. And get another move besides the Smash. C'mon, let's see a deadly Tiger Claw or something here!!
-
I could see Sendo taking up a totally brutal atack since he loves brawling. I bet it will be sort of like Hiyamas shotgun atack or something of that caliber
-
Hmm, maybe. But c'mon, if Vorg has the White Fang then Sendo definitely needs something akin to a Tiger Claw.
Or he could just go into full-on "predator" mode, kinda like when Takamura snapped in the Hawk fight.
-
Just a observation, but dont you think Sendo and Takamura look the same? Cept that Sendo is obviously smaller. I think he must have used the same charecter model
-
Hmm, a little bit. They're both that "predatory brawler off the streets" model. But Sendo's features are a lot finer than Takamura's, Takamura is just like a big thug/goliath/ogre. (i.e: Sendo's more of a pretty boy type than Takamura. ) But when he was first introduced Sendo looked a lot more like Takamura, but as time went on his design (along with everyone else's) changed and refined.
Although when Takamura gets his hair messed up in the Hawk fight he did strike a resemblence . . . .
-
Gaaaaaaaaaah! I NEED MORE IPPO. has snoopycool even started or are they still being little babys about it?
-
OMG. Ippo is the next best thing ever to hit me on manga besides OP. I bullied my brother into downloading it and I read 53 volumes in four days straight! Although, I noticed an extremely similar pattern with another sports comic, Harlem Beat. But then again, Ippo came first so bwha! XD

Y'know, I now hope to not see another Hawk fight maybe ever. It was kinda cheesy when I think about it….
And Sendo being pretty compared to Taka...haha, a little ironic.
-
When did you get hooked on Hajime no Ippo? for me it was right after Ippo got knocked out in the first round and everyone was claping and he was crying. That really touched me
-

I think part of the reason the Hawk fight was so good was because of all the tension leading up to it. Y'know, Takamura's insane weight loss . . . Hawk being a general ass . . etc.
-
i gotta check out harlem beat if it is in the same vain as ippo
-
Well, both main characters in HB and Ippo started out as lame dudes who didn't think they had something good in them. Both had no friends and their lives changed at one point when a certain someone introduced them to sports. Both evolved with ass-kicking superstar tehniques and both kept on winning tournaments until the finals, where they heroically lost to the better sportsmen. But of course, one is boxing, the other is basketball. XD

Yeah, I consider Takamura vs. Hawk to be one of my favorite sports manga moments because of all that stuff. Watching Takamura was so damn painful, because I could honestly feel his pain.
"That stupid little speech, tapping my jaw like that, I can stand either. But when he laid his hands on the old man, I could hardly think straight."
One of my favorite moments was when Takamura went unconscious during the match, and remembered all of the shit he had been put through by Hawk and training for the match.
-
Yeah, the "snapped" moment was kinda, "woah . . . ."
Well, we probably won't see another of Takamura's world title matches until volume 80 something. We just finished Itagaki vs. Hoshi, now we have to move onto (hopefully?) Miyata vs. Ippo 3. If Randy Boy Jr. doesn't interefere or whatnot.
-
Okay, new chapter is out.
It's more "filler" with Aoki trying to get revenge on Takamura but failing as usual. Pretty boring, but I did like the running gag about ancestral spirits who whisper advice in your ears. Hee hee.
According to the Aoki-vision, the Ippo ancestral spirits are:
Ippo - a monk
Takamura - a feudal lord
Itagaki - a western lady (!?)
Kimura - some japanese dude
Aoki - an old samurai shot down by arrows. XD -
That raised my respect for Kimura. Though I liked him a lot anyway…and I just got to "Aokimura." Great.
But I really hope the fight is here now. Hoshi was a bad joke, and the Aoki-Taka shit thing wasn't that funny to me.
-
Yeah, that's probably the only thing I really don't like about HnI. I can appreciate toilet humor, but sometimes in Ippo it goes too far . . . . usually at the hands of Takamura.
-
Latest chapter:
Oh my oh my. Ippo says that this is gonna be his last match? Are we actually seeing the end of HnI, or is the manga-ka just playing with us and will find some sneaky way to delay it AGAIN like he's been hinting at for the past few weeks?
-
Damn, I hate Ippo's mom.
-
No reason to hate her just cause she's getting old. If anything get mad at Ippo for being wishy-washy.
-
Ippo is the Japanese Boxing Champion, doesnt that give him enough money to live with ease? and look at Miyata's hand he seems injured so i guess they have to wait.
-
It probably helps supplement a lot, but I don't think JBC level gets you THAT much. You only get truly rich if you're a world champion, and even then you probably have to defend a fair number of times. (in other words, Martinez is rolling)
You do have to wonder why Ippo would rather take over the store than rise up in the boxing world to help out his mom.
And yeah, it looks like Miyata's fists are still hurting. Cause he's in regular clothes but they're still bandaged.
-
Seriously what about the batton between date and Ippo will it be ignored.
-
Seriously what about the batton between date and Ippo will it be ignored.
I don't even consider that a possibility. Martinez needs a good ass kicking, and we're gonna see it in all its glory some day.
Although, there was that one time with the super "omg best basketball player ever" character in Slam Dunk which we never even got to see play against Shohoku… but HnI wouldn't do that to us... would it?
