Yes, but Oda's the one we love. XD

I read the Oct. issue and found olny one cleverage edit but Robin's cleverage is left unedit. I'm I suppose to look up in the Nov. issue?
-
I've grown discouraged with Viz Media. We're down to about 3 volumes of One Piece a year whereas Naruto gets about 6 or more. I understand Naruto is more popular in the US but considering One Piece is up to 51 volumes, it will take over a decade to get caught up at the rate Viz is going. That's why I've decided not to buy volume 19; why wait when I can look the chapters up online?

The reason "One Piece" isn't coming out as quickly as "Naruto" is because much less people are buying it. I don't understand why so many fans keep complaining about the release schedule and don't buy it out of impatience when it's pretty obvious what the problem is. So if that's what you're gonna do you're only making the wait worse.
-
Yeah, the problem won't be solved by not buying the series. Feel free to read the scanlations, but buy the Viz manga too. You'll be supporting the series and increasing the chances of Viz giving One Piece a decent release schedule, and you won't have to wait for Viz's snail-like release pace, so there's nothing to lose, except about $8.00 per volume.
-
Sorry to be negative, but I doubt things will improve if I continue buying the series. Thouands (if not millions) have been buying it for the last 18 volumes and the release times aren't improving. I just dread the series turning into another Trigun or Hellsing (although nothing is as bad as Hellsing vol. 8. Man, what a mess that was).

Oh those fanboys of mine.
-
Oh, yeah? Well I'm going to have to wait seven months for Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 18. Yeah, that's not til May.
To be serious, the only thing we can do right now is buy the volumes when they come out. Not buying them will not improve One Piece's chances of getting a faster release schedule.

What's the point of complaining when you're not gonna buy it in the first place?
-
So anyone not care what I wrote? Well I will countiue buying the volumes even if there is some dumb art edit and like Firecouch already said, complaining won't help. Back in 2000 when I was a Digimon fan I remember how fans would complaining about the dub instend of senting latters for an uncut DVD. It was so fusterating that I once yelled at them for complaining. Tell me, how is complaining is going to help?
"Someone posts a picture of me with a dorky smile"
Don't be suprise if I happen to sent assissines to your house
And if Alrich and Zeppy and Carter are going to make a snarky comment against me, I would love to watch them having thousands of fire ants eating them up and me enjoying to hear them suffer so no one disrespect me.

Damn man, spoken like a true player.

I guess expressing my frustration with the manga's release in the New Official Viz Manga Discussion thread was a poor idea. I assumed there would be others irratated with the infrequency of the release. My mistake.
As to your letter comment Second, I've written to Viz a couple of times about the situation. I didn't expect it to accomplish much and I never received a reply.

Um there are people irritated with Viz's release schedule try checking like the last ten pages or so.
-
I see. I was also dismayed to see Volume 21 wasn't listed anywhere on Amazon. I'd doubt Viz would stop publishing One Piece but it makes me wonder.
-
Bottom line, if you want to read "One Piece" as quickly as possible, read the scanlations. If you want to read it in book form and/or support the author without having to read Japanese and buying the original books, buy the VIZ manga, regardless of how long you have to wait.
-

This answers you're question, but was something that I had posted elsewhere.
I think that VIZ has translators that are (in all likely hood) very good at their jobs, but the people who are localizing their manga are the people screwing it up. By adding in silly dialogue (yo ho ho and shiver me timbers come to mind and other pirate speak) and changing existing dialogue. There are many times where the emotion in the original isn't conveyed due to them trying to 'kid' things up. They try to avoid bad words as much as possible, and in most cases pick words that just don't carry as much weight as the original Japanese. You can tell in many spots that they were probably given an accurate script to work with, but the localizers tried to think of ways to 'jazz' it up. In the process they killed much of the original meaning in numerous scenes. It's that same problem I've had with all of VIZ's translations so far.
I always feel like VIZ doesn't take into account that there were fans of their different manga long before they got the properties. So they have the attitude of they'll get what we give them and nobody will be the wiser.
Another reason why I dislike VIZ is that they let too many outside factors impact what they are doing. "Oh no one person out there complained that Dragonball is too raunchy for their children to read! Quick censor it immediately!" It is that attitude that will forever keep me from taking the company and everything it does seriously. I really hate complaining about it, because most people seem to think that I'm attacking them for liking something that VIZ has put out. In reality I just want people to get a perfectly accurate translation of the source material.
-
I'm just going to point out that there hasn't been any stereotypical pirate speak since the Kuro arc. I think the pig pirate in Alabasta had a brief ''shiver me timbers'', but no one cares about him and he was taken out within a page or two.
Really, aside from the clumsy psudeo-swearing, the translation is very accurate. I have every volume save 19 out so far, and the dialogue matches what I remember from the fansubs pretty accurately over all, just reworded a bit to sound better in English. If you want ''jazzed up'' dialogue in regards to One Piece, that's what the 4kids dub is for.
-
Just buy the original Japanese version and use Stephen's translations if you don't want to wait. They'll cost you if they are second handed : €3 per manga. Cheap and the best version out there.
-
The editing thing happens in Japanese shonen jump (hunter x hunter is constantly edited), I'm not sure about cleavage. But bloody scenes are covered.
It might explain why bleach toned down on the "violent" scenes where the sword actually slices.
So it's not as odd a thing as you may think. In fact, I'm almost certain some HnK was edited as well.
-
Well, I'm glad to be French (vol.49 next month !!)
Ok, I'm going now =>
