@Luxor:
It's already been long enough to get over my own disappointments with Negima's ending, why can't you?
Because I'm a different person and maybe you shouldn't apply yourself as a measuring stick on how all people should act?
@Luxor:
(And it has been years later, as in plural or more than one. Nobody said decade, you misinterpreted that yourself.)
The context of your sentence is that it has been an insanely long time which I disagreed with, I did not misinterpret anything.
@Luxor:
I personally wouldn't care if Akamatsu jumped right into the original's ending or had a timeskip that would ease us into what happened before the timeskip, since either would get us to that point.
But we're not getting either, we're getting this totally brand new series with a completely different cast of characters.
@Luxor:
But it seems some people want it, and they want it NOW. >.<
I'd have waited years for Negima to come back. But not as this.
@Luxor:
Now put yourself in Akamatsu's place. Do you honestly think he wasn't thinking of tying this into Negima from the beginning?
He wasn't planning on ending Negima the way he did, that much is for certain. The plan is most probably to try and resolve all the stuff he left undone in this new series. Which we both agreed on. What I meant with my comment was the fact that he had to end Negima and restart it as UQ was never part of some grand design to tell the story from an original perspective but a cheap, hackneyed way to try and apologize to the fans after he realized what a huge mistake he made ending the series.
@Luxor:
I've been patient with this so far, and it's pretty obvious he's trying to make up to the fans by now. The fact that he tied main villain back in actually made me pretty happy, so I don't know why you're still bitching about it. I was pretty annoyed at the time in 2012 too, but only for a few weeks. How can I be angry when the circumstances behind the rushed ending involved new copyright laws and the end of an exclusive publishing contract? Have some empathy dude, and grow up a little.
Pot. Kettle. Black. How about you show some empathy and try to understand how people who spent years reading this series and being invested in its story and its world and its characters and who spent week after week reading the series, discussing it on forums wondering what was going to happen next, cheering on its characters, going through a rush of emotions as we sat down and read every page of this wonderful series…might be a little peeved to see it being "resurrected" in such an off-handed manner. Instead of acting with a condescending, holier than thou attitude because you think you're so mature and so "with it". Especially when you'd probably act the same if it were something you really cared about.
@Luxor:
Akamatsu's moved on, the publishing company has moved on, I've moved on, many readers have moved on–-so why is your little grudge still here? All the reasons you've given aren't enough sustain over 2 years (at least, for myself), so I'm really surprised right now.
I more than forgave Akamatsu when I found out that there were publishing issues that caused the series' cancellation (even though these apparent issues have never been a problem for anyone else and seemed more like a foolish preemptive decision to end the series on Akamatsu's part). But then he brings it back the way he did and for that, there's no excuse. If he wasn't going to bring it back properly, I'd rather he have left it dead and buried so it could rest with dignity.
