Kyuranger does makes sense
Its also great they are making Super Sentai DVDs again looking forward see DVDs made for Gokaiger and ToQger
Go Go Power Rangers… to Krispy Kreme!
-
-
The main reason, I haven't got Samurai/Super Samurai and Megaforce/Super Megaforce. Both of those seasons of Power Rangers weren't really good, and I rather get Shinkenger and Gokaiger instead. The main reason, why I want to get Abaranger - Gekiranger whenever they come out on dvd. It's because Dino Thunder through Jungle Fury were the season that got me back watching the show. And I actually want check out the Super Sentai version of those seasons.
-
I watched Abaranger and Dekaranger fairly recently and they're both fantastic. Watching Magiranger now and it's pretty good.
-
For me I just finished Hurricaneger, which I really enjoyed the series. Now I'm in the middle of Jetman. Of the Super Sentai shows that I watch so far (Zyuranger, Hurricaneger, and Jetman), Jetman is my personal favorite.
-
A lot of big news for Cosmic Fury.
Cosmic Fury is going to have original suits for the season (The Green and Gold rangers suits looks great.). They will be using the robot fight footage from Kyuranger.
Other Power Rangers news, Walter Jones (Zack) and David Yost (Billy) have confirmed they are New Zealand filming something for the 30th anniversary of Power Rangers.
-
Quite happy to see Yost and Jones will be involved. I wonder if Billy and Izzy will share a dynamic, considering Yost's history with the series as an openly queer actor and Izzy as a character being the first canonically queer character. That would be such a cute dynamic, especially if Billy was canonically made queer as a 'fuck you' to the producers that abused him in the 1990s.
-
I'm excited for the Izzy Lighting collection figure that's coming out soon. I recently got Zayto's Lighting collection figure and its really nice.
-
I'm super miffed we're getting cheated out of Kyuranger lighting collection figures in lieu of original suits.
-
Yeah, I know. I wished that we got the Kyuranger suits as well. Now, that Shout Factory is beginning to release Super Sentai again, we got a good chance that Kyuranger will get a release. I just wished that we know when Fiveman and Abraranger will be available to get outside of the Shout Factory store.
-
People are starting to get the Abaranger dvds from Shout Factory. So we probably find out pretty soon what's going to be the next Super Sentai release is going to be. In my opinion, it's probably going to be Turboranger or Dekaranger. I hope soon we get a release date for Fiveman for other retailers, since right now both Fiveman and Abaranger are exclusive to the Shout Factory store for a limited time.

Jason David Frank have passed away.
https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/20/power-rangers-jason-david-frank-dead-dies-tommy-oliver-green-white/
Being a long time fan of Power Rangers, this really hit me hard. RIP JDF.
-
It's a terrible shame. I know exactly what it's like to want to cross that line, so I have nothing but sympathy for where Frank was. RIP.
-
Power Rangers was my jam growing up, so yeah, this really hurts to hear. And it happened just on the eve of the 30th anniversary. More importantly it's so sad that he should be in such a bad place before his passing.
R.I.P. Jason.

Amy Jo Johnson made a comment about JDF's passing.

-
Amy Jo Johnson was live on Instagram earlier today talking about JDF's passing.
-
I admit, I was one of those kids that grew up on power rangers, and I admit I cried during that storyline where Tommy lost his Green Ranger powers and left the show. This is awful.
-
I figured I post one of my favorite episode of Power Rangers from the Mighty Morphin era. It's one of my favorite Tommy and Kimberly episode.
-
While the first movie was being filmed in Australia and schedule was running over the production of the second season had to continue, so Saban sent a crew of Australia to film the Ranger acts and Bulk & Skull for the The Wedding Parts 1-3 and Return of the Green Ranger Parts 1-3. Suit actors filmed the Rangers in the US for scenes during The Wedding, so there wasn't really any civilian fighting for the Rangers in that three-parter. In Return of the Green Ranger not only was Jason David Frank pulling double-duty by playing Tommy but he also played Tommy's clone. In addition, Return of the Green Ranger Part 1 Frank performed a really well-shot battle scene against a Putty Squadron that still kicks ass to this day.
There's a brief shot at 9:40 into the episode that has a nice camera sweep but the real shot of the episode begins at 10:50 as the cinematorgrapher somehow manages to keep up with Frank and the stunt team as they quickly kick the shit out of one another. It's a beautiful ten second-long shot that leaves me mesmerized in how it moves but also in how it captures the performers. The zooming in-and-out is expertly guided.
The production crew for this episode is also of note.
1st Assistant Director: Paul Schrier (also plays Bulk)
2nd Unit Director: Koichi Sakamoto (future episode director, Toei stunt actor turned stunt director)
2nd Assistant Director: Jason Narvy (also plays Skull)So, the expert guiding of the camera during the action scenes is thanks in large part to Sakamoto's directing, it would appear. We can also see two of the actors themselves dipping into learning the ropes of directing. In later season Schrier and Narvy would direct episodes themselves. All six of the episodes shot in Australia are directed by Executive Producer Shuki Levy (Levy's a POS wifebeater though so fuck that guy).
-
Looks like the next Super Sentai release from Shout Factory is going to be Dekaranger.
-
Update on Shout Factory's release of Dekaranger. Dekaranger will be coming out on dvd on February 14th. Like both Fiveman and Abaranger, Shout Factory's site will be only the place for the time being to be able get Dekaranger. I know for sure, I'm planning to get Dekaranger, but I'm going to wait until when Amazon and other stores get the series.
-
Some big Power Rangers news today. The 30th anniversary special is coming to Netflix on April 19th. Here's the teaser for the special.
Also Cosmic Fury will be coming out in the fall. We're getting our first full time female with Red Ranger with Amelia becoming the new Red Ranger.
-
Near as I can gleam from that preview for the special the special will actually be from the POV of the the MMPR cast, which I almost wasn't expecting. It's nice to see that they will be the focus of the special. It's also nice to see Yost and Jones back in their costumes. I wonder if there is now a new MMPR team configuration and how that balances with Adam and Aisha in their SPA roles.
-
I saw the announcement for the new Lighting Collection figures today. I know for sure, I want to get the Mesogog figure. Its looks really nice in my opinion. I recently got a couple new Lighting collection figures recently. Which they are SPD Green Ranger and Dino Fury Red Ranger. Both figures are really nice in my opinion.
-
We now got an release date for when Fiveman will available outside of Shout Factory website. It will be April 18th.
-
I finally finished up Jetman. From the three Super Sentai series that I watch so far (Jetman, Zyuranger, and Hurricanger), Jetman is my favorite. My favorite characters of Jetman were Gai and Anko. Man, I didn't expect what happened to Gai on the final episode to happened. The villains of Jetman were great, I really like the character development that both Grey and Maria were getting throughout the series.
-
Oh hey, it's funny that you just finished Jetman, which is written in near entirety by Inoue Toshiki. I have been watching and am nearly finished with Kamen Rider Faiz (555), which is written entirely by Inoue. I don't know if you're in the market for more Inoue but he did make his return to Super Sentai with the current—and nearing completion—Avatarou Sentai DonBrothers, which is really good. I also suggest watching Faiz, which is also beautifully shot. I own the Shout Factory DVD release of Jetman so I think I'll have to watch that series next, too.
-
Abaranger will be available outside of the Shout Factory site on May 23rd.
-
I finished Hikari Sentai Maskman a little while back. I was kind of dreading it since I'd heard from at least one reviewer that it ranks among the worst, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Granted, it's not great either, but it's a perfectly fun, serviceable, middle-of-the-road entry in the series.
-
Avatarou Sentai DonBrother just aired its final episode. It's such a good series. Inoue Toshiki is on fire all series long turning in the best character writing Sentai has had in forever. The directing from Tasaki, Morota and all of the other regular directors is really good, too. It's hard to get through an episode without taking a ton of screen captures because they're just that well shot. The actors all really captured their characters really well, too! I love the homoeroticism between Tarou and Sonoi, their 'rivalry' is just so hot. The series is a perfect marriage of script (all 50 episodes are written by Inoue Toshiki himself), episode directors and actors. I really need to watch Choujin Sentai Jetman soon, as Inoue was the head writer of that series, too.
-
Time to spend some time watching a new Linkara review
-
I just started Timeranger in the last couple days. I'm 9 episodes into the series and I have to say to it's a really good companion to Time Force (Which is my favorite season of Power Rangers). Yeah, there are some difference between both series and they both similar story beats. I will say so far Timeranger is just as great as Time Force.
-
Started up Boukenger last week. One thing I can say about it, it's got a killer first episode. A unique premise with unique and immediately interesting character dynamics. Subsequent episodes have been good too, but...man, that first episode.
Also, in the 2000's era, it's so refreshing to have a Red Ranger that actually feels like a leader instead of a goofy newbie they put in charge for no reason.
Fantastic opening and ending songs too.
-
Good to hear that Boukenger is good. It's one of the series, I want to check out eventually, whenever the Shout Factory release comes out. Since Shout have officially entered the Disney era shows (Hurricaneger - Go-onger) on their releases. I'm planning to get some of the Sentai dvd releases of this period, since this was the period that I got back into watching Power Rangers and I would like to get the dvd releases of these series.
-
Everyone getting into Super Sentai really makes me want to bust open my copy of Jetman. I really enjoyed Inoue's second Super Sentai, DonBrothers, so it's the series I want to check out the most (lest I don't just re-watch Shinkenger or Gokaiger). Hopefully I'll have the time once I finished Kamen Rider Build.
Also, Ou-Sama Sentai King-Ouger Episode #1 aired. The ambition with the LED walls and the physical debris effects is greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to Episode #2.
-
Still wish we could've gotten Austin St. John and Amy Jo Johnson, but...man, I'm pretty much gonna have to see this.
-
Seeing Jones and Yost back will definitely be a highlight. I'm hoping Bosch gets to do some fighting, too, he was always second best before JDF.
I appreciate that they're allowed to use the world 'kill' in this special, too.
I hope the cinematography and stunt acting is better in the finished product. Some of these shots just look very...awkward.
-
I thought the trailer was really good. I have to say, I didn't expected Rita to say kill in the trailer. I'm happy to see Zack and Billy back in the series again after so long. I'll admit this, when the show first aired back in the day, I wasn't a Kat fan. Since I'm a Kimberly fan, but when I was watching the show recent years including my recent watching through Zeo and Turbo, I warm up to Kat and I like her character alot more then I did back in the day. I'm happy that both Rocky and Kat are back as well.
-
It sad to see people the last couple days attacking Amy Jo Johnson for the most stupid reason. I understand and respect her decision for not being in the reunion special, It really not our business to know why she doesn't want to be in it. I mean she alot busier now with directing stuff.
-
She didn't want to spend a month in a different country, and didn't want to spend six months of hard exercise getting back into spandex shape at 50. Perfectly understandable.
If they'd just wanted her to do a greenscreen cameo in street clothes I'm sure she would have been up for that.
-
It never fails to amaze me how much people just Expect People to Do What They Want.
-
After watching the first 20 minutes of Shin Kamen Rider (it was broadcast on television) I am absolutely hoping for a Shin Super Sentai from Anno now. What an amazing film.
-
Some positive Amy Jo Johnson news. She's going to be writing her own Power Rangers comic series.
https://ew.com/tv/pink-power-ranger-amy-jo-johnson-comic-book-announcement/
-
I just finished watching the 30th anniversary special. In my opinion, I thought it was great.
-
As someone who adored Power Rangers as a kid (the first season) I thought the special was pretty good.
-
Dekaranger is going to available outside of Shout Factory website on July 18th.
-
I got my first Super Sentai dvd boxset for my birthday. Which I got Hurricaneger. Even though I already seen the series, I'm happy that I got it on dvd. Also I preorder Abaranger.
-
I've not seen Hurricaneger but I have seen all of the guest appearances since Gokaiger. I really like the cast and am looking forward to the forthcoming reunion film.
-
Hurricaneger was pretty good, but not one of my personal favorites.
Up to episode 35 of Boukenger now and, man, this series is just killing it. Well on its way to being an S rank series for me.
-
I'm currently up to Episode 25 of Timeranger. I'm really liking the Domon and Honami side story that's been going on. I so want Honami to find out that Domon is Time Yellow. Also I enjoyed Episode 22 of Timeranger with Yuuri trying to stop the marriage con artist.
