That isn't really true. First off, Kartana's only in Sun.

That's why I said "in Sun", I don't know which Moon BM has a higher catch rate (if Celesteela - Kartana's counterpart - or Pheromosa - the one that also comes in 4).

I am talking by experience, I needed to reset a lot to get all 4 Kartanas with jolly nature and good IVs distribution and not a single time I failed to catch one on the first round.

Also, different pokémon have different catch rates, so yeah, the species will be a factor:
Nihilego - 45 (5.9%)
Buzzwole - 25 (3.3%)
Pheromosa - 255 (33.3%)
Xurkitree - 30 (3.9%)
Kartana - 255 (33.3%)
Celesteela - 25 (3.3%)
Guzzlord - 15 (2%)

as it turns out it was Pheromosa the other one with a higher catch rate.

The UBs definately have a disproportional catch rate after the first two. Had Xmaslight-Tree break out of 6 beast balls upon certain SRs. And I think the "last one" does not quaifly as a true UB as I had Pokeballs being more effective than Beast Balls. But yeah! Finally finished the Pokedex, got the shiny charm and… maybe go Shiny Hunting. I want a decent shiny Bewear.

Also. Question. Did anyone set up a Discord group for this APF Pokemon topic(or an APF discord with a pokemon tag)? Not that it matters much if there isn't any, but it would be neat to add.

Necrozma isn't an actual UB, and is thus affected by the Beast Balls like all other non-UB pokes.

Only the "recent invaders" are clasified as Ultra Beast, Necrozma and other transdimensional pokemons that haven't crossed the holes recently don't have their catch rates amplified by the … beast balls.

So confusing, they should be Ultra Bals.

Necrozma isn't part of the conversation at all, Looker thinks it's an Ultra Beast but it isn't, so unless in the next game they call it that, it isn't.

The game literally tells you it's not a UB. Looker freaked out about a new UB and was told "no, we're very sure there isn't one, or our sensors would have picked it up." It's just a legendary.

It's def UB related in theme. Also remember that technically the Cosmog line is UBs. The game isn't really consistent on it.

Yes, the text that says "you caught the mysterious creature that Looker mistook for an Ultra Beast." There is nothing ambiguous there. Whether lore-wise there are similarities or not, it is very clear on Necrozma in-game.

I'm going to go ahead and say Solgaleo/Lunala is a special exception since you have to catch it for story reasons and you're not supposed to have Beast Balls yet.

Joleton's a special attacker. It's pretty easy to look up, just check which base stat's higher.

But Flareon has always been a physical attacker. It's why it was arguably the worst in Gen 1, since it had strong attack but all fire moves back then were special.

So after some initial frustration I managed to chain Dittos. Ended up catching a Hidden Ability one with 4 perfect IVs and a 5th one that's nearly perfect. I was kind of going for a shiny but my chain had hit 60 and it was only the second HA one I'd seen the whole time so I just said screw it and caught it.

I've only used Flareon (once) in FireRed. :)

I think they are keeping it vauge to hype Stars or some future movie. They have done this before. It might not be an Ultra Beast(I don't think it is, tbh), but I def think it's related or tied in. Because why bring it up at all?

During that whole scene where Wicke denies there being more Ultra Beasts just seems like a red herring, or one of those endings/conclusions where it's trying to make you assume a problem is completely taken care of. So I'm not really buying that it's over, but that's just my interpretation of it.

Beldum and its entire line has the same catch rate as Legendaries. It's better to spam Pokeballs than waste expensive resources like Ultra Balls(unless you are super rich). I've had moments where I caught them in less than 10 balls without weakening(because they only know Take Down) and only inducing sleep(soley to both stall turns to prevent them from Stuggle deaths inthe event it drags, and to increase the odds a tiiiiiiiiinnny bit. It's so tiny it barely helps).

It's all RNG and stupid lucky dice rolls. Even with my method above, I've actually had one encounter Struggle itself to death.

Guzzlord doesn't seem to have a whole lot going for it despite being one of my favorite designs. I guess either one of the defenses or both? And then dump the rest of EVs into HP. His purpose I've seen is to take hits.

I've also seen some people make good results out of Z-Stockpile for a full heal and def buff.

I went timid with Xurkitree. Didn't even bother resetting for HP Ice since I got a flying memory Silvally to deal with Garchomp (People can't see on team preview what type your Silvally is). Instead I'm gonna run Tail Glow/Hypnosis/Thunderbolt/Grass Knot. Z-Hypnosis is a pretty high-risk/high-reward move if you manage to shut down one of Xurkitree's counters with it. And in doubles I'll use Z-Rain to spam Thunder with Tapu Koko.

I've got Hidden Abilities of Bagon, Dratini, Mareanie, Vulpix. They're not IV bred, but I can get good natures on them. I guess I could get you some Moon exclusives if you don't have them..

Not to bandwagon but since I'm (casually) amassing various HA pokémon, I wouldn't mind taking a Bagon myself Kubi. I've got several I can trade back (mostly from other AP members) but the main one I already have bred is HA Geodude.

But I won't be on for another 6 hours or so.

Good luck. None of my casual attempts with legendaries/UBs have panned out and so I have yet to make it to a streak of 10. And as long as that's the case, Battle Royal is by far the faster method for me, even if that's still painfully slow.

Which brings me to the point, if anyone does come up with a pretty reliable Battle Tree setup, would you mind sharing it? Team composition, moves, items, general strategy. My hope is that I can find something that works at least reasonably well, at least to get to the 20s and 30s where I can start outpacing my average 2-3 BP per Battle Royal match, without having to get the exact right nature and IVs on my pokémon (since doing that and then leveling them takes a long time). EV training I'm willing to do since that is easy (though I still have to grind some more BP to afford all the power items), but I keep hearing people say they've had success while ignoring even EVs and I don't understand how.

BTW if all you care about is Destiny Knot then it's possibly faster to abuse pickup. Although that's just RNG. But I hear people saying that if you get a team of 6 pokémon in the 20-30 level range and just keep fighting weak enemies, you can find a Destiny Knot within a couple hours (along with a ton of other items of varying usefulness). Though of course you also have people saying "I tried this for 10 hours and still don't have one."

I get streaks on average over 10 using the Xurkitree I mentioned before. I supplement him with a couple dudes from my team, which are just a Muk and a Ribombee, and they sometimes come in handy, though I know my loadout could be better. Playing the Xurkitree well, alone, makes for some fast matches, but I got a Mild nature on it, so it doesn't last long if things go south. I just beefed him up with max SpAtk and Speed EVs, and gave him Electrium Z for thunderbolt. He can 2HKO almost anything on the tree with base SpAtk, and the Z attack lets him break through a lot of bigger threats and build up his stats with Beast Boost. His biggest enemies are sleep, focus sash, and anything that outspeeds him.

I'm guessing the EVs actually make a big difference, because with the stock one I don't do enough damage really, even with electric terrain. Volt Switch sounds good for flexibility (I did teach it to my Tapu Koko when I was trying out that combo), and Thunderbolt and Energy Ball make sense too for type coverage. Dazzling gleam adds even more type coverage. I can try that combo, though I still don't know if making it to the teens is efficient, but it's a start. I definitely need to EV train though, so maybe I'll get enough BP for all the power items then do that.

I actually also have a Muk on my team, in fact it's what I'm using for Battle Royal. But I have it set up for petty tactics (Minimize, Substitute, Gunk Shot and Knock Off, and a Black Sludge equipped). But hey who knows maybe that would work somehow. I'd probably toss in my Lucha Tigre as the 3rd just to test, after I train him too. He can do work, especially with the Z-Move.

I've been doing Battle Tree instead of Royal because I feel like the latter is going to make my old DS explode. Plus single battle is less frustrating than constantly getting sniped/ganged up on.

My team has been Lycanrock Midnight with Life Orb, Primarina with Expert Belt and Mimikyu with Fairium Z. None of them are EV trained or have good natures, but I can usually break 10 and have gone through the whole thing a couple of times. Occasionally, I'll end up just getting swept by a Metagross or a Porygon Z or something, but it gets the job done for the most part just trying to kill things quickly. I plan to switch to Salamence/Metagross/Primarina once I get my new ones trained.

I have not made a team for Tree yet. Still hunting things that I'd want to use…. Not really going for perfect IVs since I'm dealing with AIs and I think maxing EVs is enough.

I might end up doing Doubles in Tree since those tend finish really fast(possibly knocking out whole teams in 2-3 turns). But I haven't seen much double tailored sets floating about yet, and it may take a while to come up with my own. So far, the potential of Speed Swap on Primarosa seems like a good final gambit for her. Give that to a slow/strong/bulky teamate before she dies and then proceed to out-speed the opposing team

Hypnosis is just a strat to allow for tail glow setup. When you only have 3 pokes available, you've gotta make every move count.

Random niche discovery, but I just found out that if a move of yours gets disabled, you can still use its Z form. Good to know.

Well tonight was fun. In the process of hunting for pokemon and trading up Jolteon/dex entries, I got into two insane situations.

Route 10 -> Cleffa shows up. I go to catch it but it summons a Clefairy, which was nice. I ended up killing the Clefairy and catching Cleffa, so now I go to hunt for the Clefairy…which I knew now was SOS only.

After suffering through tens of turns of constant Singing/Sweet Kissing (rip full heals), it summoned a Chansey! Speechless, I quickly off the Cleffa and catch it.

Then more Singing/Sweet Kissing suffering as I try to find the Clefairy, and thankfully....I did.

Near the powerplant, in training up a Machop with EXP share, Togedemaru(s) locked Jolteon in a constant SOS loop, to the point where I had to usually use an Ether on its Bite. Volt Absorb made them virtually nonthreatening, but it was bonkers to how many I ended up beating before I got bored.

Also scored Kadabra, Machoke, and the rest of the Alolan Geodude line (Golem looks......good....? bad.....? I have no idea)

Better accuracy? Because IIRC couldn't you put Grass types to sleep with Hyponosis because it's not spore-based?
