it's about how bad Oda made the birdcage. The birdcage became so bad because an admiral and basically all the strong guys in dressrosa are only able to slow it down or stop it for 1 second. An ability dofla seems to effortlessly maintain. How hax is that?
Now it wouldn't have been bad for the birdcage if fuji wasn't involved in it's stalling. It would have also saved fujis reputation. So yeah the birdcage should with the number of high calibre guys involved be cut. But it can't. That's odas trap.

If you cut a thread then there will be two threads. It will not disappear.
Doffy can fix it easily IMO. He doesn't even need to look where Parasyte goes and he makes a perfect clone in one panel.

From what I understood, Sai has inherited his grandfather's ability that can open the ice continent. The point is, we also don't the extent and how these abilities work. In the case of Sai, it seems, it is not only physical, it has something else, like a shock wave. But if pure strength, gravity, shock waves, nothing seem to have the slightest impact or effect on the birdcage. It is hard me, really hard to accept how ridiculous the bird cage is. It is an ability the mingo seems to not even care about. For me, it's a the strongest yet the lamest plot device. But if you are Ok with it, then fine. I repeat, I have been reading "One Piece" for more then 12 years, this is the very first time that something like this is ruining the manga to me. I am not talking about the pace, power levels, princesses in distress. The bird cage is killing me.

I think you are actually being serious and that's sad. You do realize that Dressrosa is a country and it's very likely that hundreds of people died. Anyone who was sleeping, hurt and couldn't move, distracted until it was too late for the people that were further away from the center? Oda didn't show it because he doesn't kill characters but there's no way a ton of people did not die. I think someone made a fantastic post explaining why he hasn't taken down Doflamingo himself but is allowing Luffy to do it and it seems like a very fair and plausible reason. The issue here is that he should have destroyed the cage a long time ago, and not destroying it now is even more silly. But you know, he saved that one kid so he clearly has done all that he should have done so far.

Fuji has been saving people since the bird cage went up and ordering the marines to do so also .
Seems beating don is what gets rid of cage so i don't see how he could have gotten rid of it .
Of course i know some people die parasite alone kill some people but this one piece we talking about and if you think hundreds dead you kidding your self .

I'd loved to see him using the sideway gravity not against buildings but against the birdcage. As it will work on the strings it should affect them and the rubble.behind the cage. A try wouldn't hurt.
But he won't do it. If Oda makes fuji competent he will create a hole in the cage but that will erase the tension. So Oda has to make Fuji do less than what we would have expected from an admiral for his story to work. More and more i'm starting to believe that Doa made a mistake by introducing fuji in this arc. Whatever oda does now hurts something. His plot or some characters.

That has nothing to do with fuji being competent and everything to do with him being a admiral.
People feel a admiral should be able to destroy the cage cause he should be that powerful.

I have no problem with it being hax because of how it's done .
If beating don gets rid of the cage it's not that hax .
The problem would be that people that can beat don easier now doing other things more than the cage it self .

EDIT also your saying you don't how some abilities work but a the sametime saying they should effect strings that we have no idea about.
Maybe it would have been better if oda told us what the magcial DF strings made out of .

I bought that fujis meteor didn't make anything to the birdcage but it would have been nice to see him make a hole in it. If the birdcage nature makes the hole close again than so be it but in our eyes we would have the proof that an admiral had the power to open it but it wouldn't have helped the citizens. The difference to this scenario is that we currently have a hax cage which is strong beyond limits. Everyone pushes and the cages doesn't stop long enough. It's a hax cage that makes fuji look weak and doflamingo hax. Doflamingo doesn't even sweat from making the cage contract or contract faster.
There were tons of examples in this thread showing what doflamingo can do with this birdcage to own the new world.

Of course you don't know as many of us. But there are some people here who are well aware of the behavior of the birdcage and how it can react to attacks, devil fruit powers and such. It's funny to see that people who are asking questions and annoyed by the birdcage and the admiral are the ones considered as whiners here, and not the people who have answers to everything even though no one knows the cage.

Exactly, I am saying that we don't know since we did not see or get any explanation. Fuji is competent he has been saving lives and helping people since the bird went cage up
He is also super strong i am sure he can beat don even more so now that he hurt .
Still at the same time he said he not fighting don , him not stopping or can't a DF user ability does not may him any less competent.

It does have a weakness which is beating don and most likely certain character or powers.
Every eg people gave was saying he don't have to be inside the bird cage , we seen him use it twice both times he was inside.
We have a charcater saying he going to be at the center i am not going down the if road .
Also Admirals are the strongest marine force not the strongest characters in OP .

EDIT you know what it's about time one of the warlords DF hax as hell , they are suppose to be in the same class as the marines and Yonko.

Thank you. The cliffhanger last chapter was basically "the Birdcage will kill everybody before Luffy can recover and finish off Doflamingo, so the Birdcage has to be slowed down somehow". And now everybody is pissed that we get a chapter about the Birdcage being slowed down somehow oO Bunch of weirdos. I think its really just arc fatigue. The arc has gone on so long that people become restless when they get a chapter like this where not that much happens. But I think this will be pretty effective once you can read the arc as a whole. A chapter where everybody comes together to put their last strength into giving Luffy enough time to finish the main villain off. Its really classic One Piece. Seriously, would you guys really rather see Doflamingo, one of the most build-up villains in the whole story, be defeated by random gladiators than by Luffy just to change things up? Yeah, I`m sure his beatdown would be much more effective and satisfying if it were delivered by Don Chinjao or something.

We are frustrated by how an ability that no one is controlling, can threaten and stop a whole country, 2 fucking vice admirals, a fucking admiral, and all the coliseum fighters, zoro, cavnedish, bartoromeo, the revolutionaries second in command, a yonko commander and another warlord. If all these people came up with the idea of pushing it and you don't find it starnge, then good for you. For some of us, it is frustrating. We are really sorry to disagree.

Honestly, contrary to popular opinion, I actually like that the bird cage is indestructible to even Fuji. It gives Doffy the one thing that he was lacking through out the arc, and that is actually being threatening.

My hopes for the finale of Dressrosa

789: Kyros and Cavendish arrive to save Viola & Rebecca; even in his decrepit state, Doffy overwhelms them in the final minute before Luffy recovers. Finally, Luffy (and Law) arrive to finish Doffy

790: Final Showdown between Luffy and Doffy. Luffy wins. As soon as Luffy lands the final punch and blows off his glasses, Doffy has one last flashback, that starts at the final page of this chapter detailing his return and rejection from Mariejois, and his ultimate plan to destroy the world.

791-792: Doffy's final flashback plays out from beginning to end

793-798: Post Dressrosa

I understand Oda wants to incorporate the whole of Dressrosa into Doflamingo's defeat but I can't help but feel that such a direction serves to diminish the overall excitement and intrigue of the Doflamingo VS Luffy match-up.

I seriously hope the Yonko aren't defeated in a manner similar to Doflamingo and instead incorporates Luffy more prominently i.e. less distractions and less people directly targeting the Yonko.

Characters aren't going to try to destroy the Birdcage again if the initial efforts didn't do anything. 5-6 meteors barely did anything to it and it only ended up scaring off the people.

Birdcage is a move designed to trap people. Obviously is going to be super tough, or else why bother using it?

Fujitora, for all intents and purposes, already tried to destroy it by sending a meteor shower at it. Did nothing. That's Doula's merit, not Fuji's incompetence.

If Akainu came and start raining down lava rocks on the island everybody that not strong is fucked until they beat him.
At least with the bird cage everyone don't die right away .

Every move we've seen till now in One Piece has had a weekness, or a person who could stop it, every single move. Except the bird Cage. That is what is meant by hax. Akainu's meteors did some nasty damage but one could be stoped effortlessly by WhiteBeard. Whitebeard's earthquakes which are intangible could be stopped by admirals invisible armor. Mihawk's sword move could be stopped by Joz. Joz diamond could be handled by Aokiji. Melo melo (Boa) and lightning had no effect on luffy. Melo Melo could be stopped with sheer will by Momonga. Magellan's poison could be slowed by Mr 3 and almost had no effect on Ivankov. I don't know, fleet admiral Sengoku attack's impact had been reduced by luffy's balloon. We can carry on like this. But if you don't see how bad (hax) this birdcage is, no problem. I am really happy for you. But allow us to disagree. No one can enter, no one can go outside, I don't know why Mingo was afraid of Kaido at all. Because of what we have seen from the birdcage alone, he could destroy marineford and all those marines on it with no problem whatsoever. And I'm not even trying to dig into this new concept of awakening. Why didn't mingo use his parasite on Luffy, Law. We even saw a person with 2 of the most powerful fruits combined and all his uber super crew flee like little puppies from a single admiral and now we have some cables threatening a whole country + admiral + all the remaining people. Good.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but it doesn't change the facts or the situation. I agree that it's hard to take at face value, and the tension is lost when something like value of life becomes absolutely predictable. Point is, the manga's never really had any real casualties shown which weren't already a part of history. From Alabasta to the current arc, we haven't really seen any realistic portrayal of events that caused widespread death. Even people shot by the Celestial Dragons and left for dead end up recovering.

As for being more blatant now than before, I can only say that this is absolutely subjective to the viewer. To me, it's always been blatant since I've only ever regarded this as a shounen manga and expected such. Death doesn't build tension, only the fear and threat of death does. I thought the Smily threat was just as blatant that no one was going to die, easily considered when there are children and 'good guy G5' in the arc. Did it build tension within the arc? It sure did! Did anyone really need to die to make it impactful? I don't think so, since death would only be consequential and not important to moving the story forward. What would we really get out of dead G5 members moving on from this in a Shounen manga? Neither Smoker nor the Strawhats would benefit from the weight of their deaths.

I don't see a reason for anyone to die in Dressrosa when they've already gone through hell. We don't need the burden of death to legitimize a threat that only lasts as long as the arc.

No, I am ok with no deaths (since this OP). To me, Fujitora's character has been such a massive failure because of the reasons that I stated. Also maybe I am ignorant but there are shonens that characters die on a regular basis no? HxH and Magi for example, there's a solid foundations where characters die. Being shonen doesn't equate to no deaths.

I really don't know what your point it?
That certain characters can block or avoid certain moves .
I just list the character in the arc that can do that also .
WB blocking a one lava rock out of who knows many don't save everyone else which is what they trying to do .
Admirals blocking part of WB attack did not save the other maries from getting hit .
Pople still get poison from Magellan attack .

It is really that hard to understand but i will do it they way how you list your egs .

Well, the fact that the Birdcage is always closing with Doula at the center should be indirect confirmation. It pretty much has a mechanic that requires Doula to be inside in order to work.

And because Doula needs to be at the center of the Birdcage, he's required to be inside it.

He doesn't need to be at center, the cage spawned from the string clone not from Dofla, he can simply move the center of the cage at will that's why it was moving with him

That thing is just OP as fuck, and doesn't even require any effort from Dofla, he can just drop it an make it move faster or slower without the need to focus on it or to use some of his stamina…

Doula does need to manipulate the strings to shape them like a cage, string clone or not. He would need to be close enough anyway.

Really? You do notice that your statement is true for everyone, do you? I mean, except luffy who can defeat himself alone by exhaustion (many times and still yet to come), all people in "One Piece" when defeated, they also take their moves with them to hell. I am talking about countering a move, stopping it, avoiding it and you are talking about stopping its user. And as many people, I also do not like sugar's power. To be honest with you. I was happy with the marineford war, because I thought at that time, all the powerful people were gathered there, more or less. And I was happy to see that even the most powerful abilities could be handled. I never ever thought that 2 years later I would see a person able to kill a whole country + admiral + 2 vice-admirals + 1 revolutionaries' 2nd + 1 yonku commander + strawhat crew + all the rookies + …

If you go back and re-read the scenes with Fujitora, it's pretty evident that Fujitora wants some kind of major incident involving Doflamingo (presumably, to use as leverage to bring down the shichibukai system), and doesn't want the Marines to be credited with the save. At the same time, he wants to minimize civilian casualties, so, while he won't take proactive steps to save everyone, he will take lesser steps to reduce casualties - like helping others stop the cage from closing.

Clearly Oda is focusing on the drama at the expense of the overall story/feel of the arc.

I understand Oda wants to incorporate the whole of Dressrosa into Doflamingo's defeat but I can't help but feel that such a direction serves to diminish the overall excitement and intrigue of the Doflamingo VS Luffy match-up.

I seriously hope the Yonko aren't defeated in a manner similar to Doflamingo and instead incorporates Luffy more prominently i.e. less distractions and less people directly targeting the Yonko.

Let's hope Monet joins the crew too.

You still seem to be missing the point there are certain characters that can get around the bird cage.
During the war people counter other people abilities but there was massive damage to everyone else .
Law is not trying get out of the cage , fuji is not trying to save him self .
Sabo is busy fighting right now , and bart using his barrier to help push it away .
