So Doffy's dad was indeed a moronic CD with his heart in the right place. Looks like the whole family was publicly tortured, yuck.
So Trafalgar D Watel Law sounds like Trafalgar of Waterloo.. hm
That D reveal tho, so unexpected.

Yeah, but the thing is that he still sees himself as a Celestial Dragon.
So he really didn't learn anything from this.
More like he was reinforced the wrong lessons from his experiences, but it's pretty understandable all things considered given what he went through.
"Fuck you for being humble"?
And again, he tried to fix his mistake.
Lets all agree that he is stupidly humble.
Law is a D? Well now he's definitely going to die (with a smile on his face)
Taking away the only source of sustenance for his family of four? For no other reason than "I want to live normaly"?
He didn't take away sustenance from his family. He was given a large mansion to live in with everything his family needed. He misunderstood how the world would react to him and the family. It ended up being the worst mistake he made.

Actually, he probably picked up some good lessons but none that made him into a "morally upright nice person". Being thrown into the wild probably reinforced a lot of cutthroat survival skills AS well as reinforcing the notion of valuing family (or something…it's clear he loves his brother and treats his crew well and he probably picked it up from all this).
Actually, I wonder if this was a conspiracy of some sort. They could have moved them to any island, but NOPE, they had to move the Flamingos to the island filled with very disgruntled people.
Chances are that the WG didn't want to risk them telling the rest of the world about the national treasure.
i never questioned his morality or his love for all members of his family.
he is an asshole for what he did before. he was a brave and caring dad for what he tried to do after.
if closing the shed after losing all the cows it's a smart move then he was clever and i'm out.
Yeah I just still think he's better then the rest of those CD bastards. At least he tried to make a change.

well the main lesson I was thinking off was "being a celestial dragon doesn't make you more than a human and they're monsters", and given what he went through as a 'commoner' it's understandable why you would want to go back to the old lifestyle and still idolize it.

… You know, I have this weird feeling that you guys have no idea how living works.
I will say this: If you think that some amount of funds is enough to sustain family of four, living in the house of this caliber, then you are wrong.
And it is not wrong to put blame on him for being an idiot. And I dislike idiots.
Actually, Homing seems to be the only one fine with the whole situation.
Idk he seemed pretty distressed when calling the CD's for help.
Yeah I just still think he's better then the rest of those CD bastards. At least he tried to make a change.
… That is a bloody low bar.

You are starting to sound like Doflamingo lol

Before the whole "Burning the house down" thing.

What if he is not so humble but shallow as hell and trying to be human is just some radical chic behavior to feel even better than CDs. He gave a damn about the others from the beginning and it seems to me more like a selfpraise thing then a dogoodforgoodsake way of life. Just to say. Maybe he really was a hero but I doubt it
Though the country wasn't part of the WG, meaning that it is considered as legal to sell the inhabitants as slaves. No wonder they have a grudge. It was a big mistake on Humble's part. I can aknowledge that much.
But Doffy is the one that gave their CD's identity away. It's his fault, but he was a kid so he couldn't imagine :sad:

If they weren't hunted down do you think they would of lived in poverty? I mean that's a pretty big mansion…and a lot of treasure.
@Gia:

Do I now? Well, I am fairly cynical. Call me spoiled; I would not throw away privaleges, near infinite wealth and security over vague notion of being "Human".
I would have tried to help people that were less lucky than me in their lives instead.
Law being a D what an asspull for the story. Hope the other Supernovas get flashbacks because they all need character depth.
How exactly is it an asspull?
Before the whole "Burning the house down" thing.
His wife seemed pretty happy too.
Doula and Cora Roci didn't seem to know any better.
If they weren't hunted down do you think they would of lived in poverty? I mean that's a pretty big mansion…and a lot of treasure.
Down the line? Yes. Perhaps not immediatly, but yes.
Also, sustenance from dictionary: Means of sustaining life. That does not necesserily means funds only. Piracy is rampant in this world, which he also should've taken into account.

And get massacred (with family) by other CDs instead of commoners.
If you have family that you drag along, making decisions for them? Yes.
Father, Mother and two kids who are probably 8 and 6, father makes a decision, mother supports him but the childrens should have made their own decision in order to please you. Good.
Why would that be?
Cause CD are all the same and call different ones traitors (like you can see in this chapter)
… You know, I have this weird feeling that you guys have no idea how living works.

Indeed, it was obviously hinted in the chapter that Humble as a normal human wanted to stay at home all day without working for more money.
DD's dad wanted to get away from the toxic WG environment. He wanted to taste normal and live like a commoner, see the world from a different perspective and try to lead a fairly normal life. He doesn't have the power of a Celestial Dragon but it's not like he was been removed from his bank account or was not planning to get a job. It doesn't sound unbelievable or unreasonable to me. He obviously didn't make the right choice because he didn't take the population feelings into account and that led his family to their doom but i can see a lot of people who have been in the media for years (singers, actors, cartel executives, politicians and so on) having the same train of thought.
"D will definitely cause a storm again." This sentence just got a whole new meaning.
haha thought the same
wow epic flashback chapter, so great
this arc gonna be damn good !!!
Anyway, I really hope that both Crocodile and Kuma get flashbacks like this when they become relevant again.
Father, Mother and two kids who are probably 8 and 6, father makes a decision, mother supports him but the childrens should have made their own decision in order to please you. Good.
You can justify bloody everything with that kind of reasoning. What if he thought Child Soldier was a completly reasonable career option and decided to make his childrens that? That is an exaggeration, but you get my point.
How in the actual hell did Oda make Buffalo cute.
Every panel of this chapter was gold. As a fan who was slipping off a bit during Dressrosa 10 chapters ago or so, Oda's performance for the last chapters has been incredible and he seems to be well within his groove. The doubt I had with Fishman Island isn't there. Dressrosa is going to end fucking fantastically.
@Mex:

No, they call the ones that turn on their way of living traitors. It is not the same. They asking him if he was sure that he wanted to leave.
Homing's idea would have gone fine if the other Celestial Dragons weren't absolute monsters.
Come to think of it, why did the WG dump him on an island full of CD victims?
You can justify bloody everything with that kind of reasoning. What if he thought Child Soldier was a completly reasonable career option and decided to make his childrens that? That is an exaggeration, but you get my point.
Yeah but we are trying to justify this specific matter. Not bloody everything.
World government hates D's.
Celestial Dragons are part of it and from the descendants.
Obvious IMO. Might be another thing.
I think , it is not about hate but the things he can get using Law being D. Most probably nobody with name D hurt him or his family with D as far as we know from flashbacks. So , since celestial dragons' ancestors did sth in void century and it's somehow related to people with D and their decendants must know the truth about the whole story. And there is smth about D finding the One Piece and starting a great war according to WB's last words and if Doffy's ambition to destroy the world is considered, Cora is afraid of Doffy's using Law and his privileges as a D. to bring the world into ruins. so he asks Law to get away from Doffy. The other thing is that is not likely doffy killing Law because of D to happen. For D. is the enemy of WG and celestial dragons , which means doffy's enemy's enemy is his friend.
Taking away the only source of sustenance for his family of four? For no other reason than "I want to live normaly"?
He took with him some of their riches.

Middle panel
They lived in poverty after having their home razed to the ground and chased out.

He was a hero. I just think he was too far ahead of his time. He made the move too soon. Hell, decades too soon. He had the beat intentions. Just not the best plan. Seems like he just up and left.
Yeah but we are trying to justify this specific matter. Not bloody everything.
So you are saying that it is okay for father to lower quality of living for his children on a whim? I disagree.
Law\is\a\d?
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
I don't know if I like Law being a D, though at least we might get some more information about it, Oda's been holding them for far too long.
@Cyan:

On the one hand, the CD could have planned that intentionally.
On the other, the land could have been close by so collateral damage would have been inevitable. Given the monstrosities the CDs are, finding an island not horribly affected by them could have been far and in between.
Better than what I think could have been the third option, Homing visited the island one day with a group of CD and thought it was a nice place to live while his buddies were off shooting that kid 16 times and collecting their offering.
@Cyan:
Homing's idea would have gone fine if the other Celestial Dragons weren't absolute monsters.

2 possibilities
1)it was a trap,probably because they didn't want to risk that he would spill the beans on the whole "national trasure" thing
2)Tenryuubito are such assholes that whenever you go,you either find someone who has been a victim of tenryuubito,or people are so enraged that they will travel to where you are just to get revenge.
@Cyan:
Come to think of it, why did the WG dump him on an island full of CD victims?
i think its more of:
island with no WG influence = people that didnt like WG gather there
@Cyan:
Homing's idea would have gone fine if the other Celestial Dragons weren't absolute monsters.

It seems to imply that he wanted to go to a country that wasn't a part of WG.
And since we know that those people were used as slaves to build the bridge…
Homing was an idiot.
It seems Doflamingo was in fact not exaggerating about the "hell" he went through.
And all of it was pretty much his father's fault. Sure, Dofla yelled about being a CD around town, but he was just a kid. And really, the people would've found out anyway sooner or later. The other CDs probably would've spread the word, since they seemed to hate Homing for being a "traitor".
I wonder why Doflamingo's status isn't common knowledge around the world, though.
well, the father's idea wasn't bad in theory… roci turned out to be a nice guy... for doffy it was too late, he was already indoctrinated with hate... or is he just rotten from birth? Saa dou kana...
He was a hero. I just think he was too far ahead of his time. He made the move too soon. Hell, decades too soon. He had the beat intentions. Just not the best plan. Seems like he just up and left.
Not by definition of a hero.
You can justify bloody everything with that kind of reasoning. What if he thought Child Soldier was a completly reasonable career option and decided to make his childrens that? That is an exaggeration, but you get my point.
It is, but here a question, would you allow your 8 years old child to make their own decisions despite of what you believe is the right for his/her future?
No, they call the ones that turn on their way of living traitors.
If you actually help commoners instead of enslaving them, have fun shooting them, blinding them, burning them alive or other stuff like that then you turn on their way of living.
the way Oda keeps mentioning Diamante is a swordman leads to having Zoro beat the shit out of 2 DD executives. this will make some ppl mad :ninja:
