I liked the "please, buy a PS4" part.
Lol I didnt even notice that, well I'm not buying a PS4 so I guess even though I'm hyped I won't be playing this.

w-why would this be exciting, again?
He would have a moveset consisting solely on crappy versions of the Gomu Gomu attacks, and stabbing himself to shock the enemies.
I should say nothing, given playable Shanks, Rayleigh,…
well I'm not buying a PS4 so I guess even though I'm hyped I won't be playing this.
It'll come out for PS3 and Vita as well!
I'm not interested in playing as Kid Luffy, but having his past in the game will be cool. I'm probably going to get it for the PS3, unless I can afford a PS4 somehow by then.
Don't expect too much out of a "complete story" guys. It'll be at best, a quick screen of cinema of about 10-15 big high points of the whole series, (but only using characters they already have models of) followed by a text scrawl giving a rough idea of the plot.
You're not getting any sort of mega-reneactment or anything, and there's still no doubt going to be big chunks missing. (Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, Jaya, etc. being likely skips.) Not to mention lack of secondary characters and whatnot. Plus, its a story we ALREADY KNOW ANYWAY. (I pity anyone trying to figure out Gundam's plot from the cliff-notes version of their "complete story" in the Gundam Musou games.)
Its why I prefer new stories for these things. The new stories may be dumb, but… at least they're new and not missing 78% of the story.

Good then, I only havea Vita, I guess ill get that version.
I really hope it will have a really interesting "free" mode because I'm really not looking forward playing the official (canon) mode.

If by "interesting" you mean "play the story stages as any character after unlocking them", and possibly a side of "lighty different enemy formations in the same stages" then sure.
But don't expect much from that.

I was thinking more about what they did with the latest Gundam. Short stories with a few missions each. I don't expect an amazing scenario coming from them but it will be better than nothing.

Or having to make up their own unsastifying conclusions like the Coliseum Mode in Unlimited World Red.
The story mode has potential to be good if they do it as much justice as they did Fist of the North Star in Ken's Rage 2. That was honestly a fantastic story mode.
Yes, FOTN 2 story mode was great but it only worked because it was FOTN, a story with a relatively short story and a way smaller cast than One Piece.

I wonder if was really that good considering it appropriated some of the story from Ken's Rage 1 and added some of the later story material people seem to not like as much.
On a personal note, I'm not too worried about the story, considering I follow the series. I just want a fun One Piece game, and the first two games delivered for me in that respect. I don't mind if it's a quick summary with some cutscenes and having to read sometimes as long as it's fun. That said, I do expect them to add in an arc or two in the middle that they missed out on. Probably Fishman Island, but I'd love to see Syrup Village and Loguetown too for instance.

the Ken's Rage 2 story mode followed the manga pretty well. They cut out very little content and it was presented more as an actual manga than just still images of the character models in a visual novel style format.
I think it could work for One Piece too if they really want to go over the story properly. But as Maikeru said above me, I know the story and I'd rather just play the game itself.

trailer
Took 'em long enough to upload the full trailer.
I watched the trailer, waiting for some gameplay to surface, but the more time passed the sadder I became until eventually the video ended, leaving me sad and pissed off.
On that note, I cannot wait for screenshots and the likes to be revealed.
i'm just waiting for the scans. They are usually the most hype generating thing
Importing this as soon as preorders go up on Play Asia. I imported the first game, and bought the localized version of the second. This one is an easy call to make. Musou games almost always get better with each iteration. I really can't wait for this. I hope it is coming really early 2015, because there are a metric ton of games coming out. I'm crossing my fingers now that this game comes out way before The Phantom Pain.
Wow, I'm so sorry but I totally forgot about these posts. I said myself "I will reply later" but then I didn't look at it until now.
Unlimited World Red and Grand Battle Rush aren't good games or are you're standards unnecessarily high?
My standards are quite high, but not unnecessarily. A lot of software houses doing games taken from famous brands (film, anime, ecc) do as little as possible they can because "fans will get it anyway". They don't think they have to reach some quality standard, as what they're doing isn't anymore a videogame but just something that fans will eat. I'll explain why I think this about Pirate Warriors:
By good do you mean for your taste?
The grand battle series is great it always was, Pirate warriors is fun if you dont like Musou games it might no be your cup of tea but it doesn't mean the game is bad, Unlimited world games are usually nice also I dont like the controls and some stuff from this recent one but its a good series.
The only recent shitty One Piece game I can think about is Romance Dawn.
First let's say that yes, I don't like musou as a genre. They're way too repetitive and only some of them achieve a deep and balanced gameplay. So, what's wrong (for me) with PW?
I'll start with graphics because it can be seen as something objective. They just don't match what a PS3 title should be: you can notice a LOT of aliasing and I've seen better fluid effects on PS2. Characters have low polygons count and quite bad facial expression, plus some of them feel like made of play dough modeling clay (had to google this, hope you understand). Scenarios are empty and low detailed, even though this can be seen as a genre particularity.
On the artistic side I really didn't like the different outfits, they should have made what we've seen in the manga and don't censor some scenes as Ace's death.
This leads to the story: you can't say they followed One Piece's story. They just made a game with some One Piece features and created something easy and quickly to do (as I said in the first quote). I didn't get the feeling I was playing a One Piece game, there was so few of the original story in it that for me is heavily unsufficient. Some videos and dialogues can't do the work when you make a Water Seven island which looks more like Las Vegas ("What happens in Water Seven stays in Water Seven"? ), no one of the few stages they included looks like its original counterpart, and they cut off so much that they should have made an acceptable work on what they did. Plus the italian translation was awful, I don't know how that was for other languages but since it's your game it's even your fault if the exterior team you've charged for it fails.
The story cuts led to boring transitions, such as where you have to go from a ship to another like Spiderman in the Baratie arc or when you have to jump on some platforms in Las Ve…Water Seven. Even the post game isn't enjoyable since all you have to do is redoing over and over again the same levels with different characters to collect some badge that will never appear. The other contents were on payment as dlc and I didn't buy them (lol, what a joke).
The gameplay itself wasn't that bad: I like how they did the movesets (except for a bit of characters, but that's already something). There were a good number of moves and really well done (I think about Luffy, Ace and Zoro for example). The camera sometimes went off screen and once you learnt how to cancel a combo you could beat a boss with 2 or 3 combos, but I like One Piece so much that I had fun anyway playing it.
Did I forget something? This is already a long post, so I'll stop it here but I hope to have explained why I think Pirate Warriors is a BIG BIG BIG fail. Sadly 'till the serie will sell they'll go on doing this type of game which costs not much and gives a good profit, so my hopes of seeing a good OP game in the near future are really low.
P.s. I'm in universe studying computer science and my goal is to get in videogame design, one of my dreams is to direct the production of a One Piece game.
A lot of software houses doing games taken from famous brands (film, anime, ecc) do as little as possible they can because "fans will get it anyway"
Most of them actually won't unless the gameplay is of any good and even if it is they still won't bother especially if it's not being advertised very well or on a platform they have.
I'll start with graphics because it can be seen as something objective. They just don't match what a PS3 title should be: you can notice a LOT of aliasing
I don't tend to notice such things as aliasing, artifacting, dead pixels, screen tearing etc genrally because I don't care about such things.
don't censor some scenes as Ace's death.
Which even the anime edited and was presumably done to avoid getting a Z rating in Japan. Same reason you don't see Hidan getting decapitated in Naruto Utimate Ninja Storm 2.

Some aspects of the story weren't going to translate into the game very well so some stuff had to be dropped. Plus if you've already watched or read the story beforehand not much is being missed.
Plus the italian translation was awful, I don't know how that was for other languages but since it's your game it's even your fault if the exterior team you've charged for it fails.
Any game made in another country is 9 times out of 10 going to have spotty translation in any other language. The english translation of PW2 was okay in spite of some spelling and spacing errors here and there.
The story cuts led to boring transitions, such as where you have to go from a ship to another like Spiderman in the Baratie arc or when you have to jump on some platforms in Las Ve…Water Seven.
Yeah you can see why they scrapped all that in Pirate Warriors 2.
I know this probably won't happen, but I would love it if we could play as the flashback crew. I'm certain it's too far in that I couldn't ask. I'm gonna get in touch with the people at Bamco. This has to happen.

Flashback crew ?
i.e. the versions of the characters that showed up in KM and KM2.
If you're talking about the Pre Time Skip Straw Hats, your wish might as well be granted. No way they're left out.
I thought he was talking about the kid versions of the crew.
It sure would be a blast to play as kid Luffy failing to cause any damage on hordes of enemies. Or not.
He probably means characters that were introduced in flashbacks, Calgara, Norland, Corazon, Fisher tiger and so on. I agree they would be awesome to play as, they should be super secret characters.
I'd love to play as Calgara or Fisher Tiger. I'd maybe hold off on them until the next game, but I wouldn't complain at all to have them in in some form.
Very hard to make flashback characters work when we barely see them doing much fighting on-screen
They did make Garp playable, and the only thing we have seen from him is throwing punches and cannonballs.
They could definitely do something with Calgara, but I can agree for the most part.
I'm pretty sure Calgara was a boss in one of the Unlimited games, so he already made his game debut a long time ago.
@OPR:

Yeah, you fought against him in The Treasure Beneath The Waves, and were able to play as him in their versus mode.
They did make Garp playable, and the only thing we have seen from him is throwing punches and cannonballs.
And that is pretty accurate with the manga
So can we expect some news at Jump Festa 2015? And can we make a good guess that the game will come out in September like the last two games?
My guess is that we will start to have infos on the game soon after "Super Grand Battle" is release.
Since this game will cover the entire series up to dressrosa does anyone think they will add giant battles like with Moria, Oars, and the Kraken?
Maybe if they put back that action button sequence thing from the first game. If they do it'll be awesome! Though I'm more worried their going to skip out on Kuja and maybe Fishman Island, idk.
should do it like the boss fights in hyrule warriors
should do it like the boss fights in hyrule warriors
My thoughts exactly. They could take some of their experience from that game and apply it here.
The only thing I want is to play as Kizaru, Marco, Law, Eneru, Sabo or Aokiji. I'm sold if that's the case. I don't know what arc this game's gonna take place in so I'm not certain if they'll appear.

Everyone you mentioned is playable in the second game except for the obvious Sabo. I expect him to be playable as either lucy or the mera version, of course they will keep all the previous characters and then add on to them. I just hope they take out the pre time skip straw hats and add in Vergo.
It would be nice to see them with different special moves, movesets etc. I know all of them except Sabo were in Gigant battle 2 as well.
They are sure taking their sweet time giving new info

They're not going to diminish the ever growing roster by 9 right out the gate when they don't have to, especially not when people still have an attachment to the pre-timeskip versions. (Hell, the Gundam and Dragonball games have 4-7 versions of the same mechs/characters.)
It'd be nice if they differentiate them some more however. They're really similar currently, aside from Chopper, Franky and Usopp who got major reworkings.
Also, speed Jinbe up a smidge, please.
They are sure taking their sweet time giving new info
Game isn't out for a while yet. They'll start teasing two or three new characters a month when we're six months out.
No telling who is gonna be added this time aside from Sabo though, they got most of the big names last time. PLAYABLE Mr. 2, Mr. 3, Moria, Wapol, CP9, Magellan, Ivonokov, etc. would be nice though… but they're all older characters and they didn't get promoted last time, so...
Ceaser, Monet, Vergo, and Doflamingo all seem really likely... Rebecca, Bart and Cavendish maybe depending on if they make a colleseum area.
Yeah seeing as how this game covers everything from the beginning to Dress rosa, we can expect the pre skip SH to stay in, and we can expect to have Fujitora and Donflamingo too.
