Oh, I don't mean to pin the loss solely on Cutler's shoulders, but he did play a miserable game this week and he's going to get a lot of flack for that and his attitude in Chicago. The OL was bad and got whipped, but Cutler didn't do them any favors with how long he held the ball either. He has just as many reasons to be upset with himself, and the fact that he seems to be harder on his teammates (not named Marshall) than he is on his own play is I think what irritates people. Chicago played a bad game offensively. It's not indicative of how they'll play over the course of the entire season at all, but it is indicative of how they've played in Green Bay during the Cutler era. I don't know why, but they seem to put up the worst game of their season when they travel there every year. They'll probably look just fine next week.
But it's not like the Bears were the only team with missed opportunities. The Packers dropped two more potential interceptions, dropped two touchdown passes, and their one interception was also because of a WR not doing his job. These things happen in every game on both sides, so I try not to get hung up on them. Ultimately, the game turned on the fake field goal that blindsided literally everyone. It takes some serious balls to make that call on 4th and 26. I could hardly believe my eyes. And Matthews was an absolute terror all game long, easily deserving of player of the game (and now the front runner for NFC defensive player of the week). You know it's a big game when a guy who limits Marshall to two catches while getting two picks isn't even considered.
Even though I'm a Packer fan, I do hope that Forte can recover quickly. Even with Marshall, Forte is still probably the best offensive player on that team, and I never like to see teams get crippled by injury. Of course they can't make excuses and need to succeed in spite of it, which I think they can, but I still hope he can overcome it quickly. High ankle sprains are always tricky.
