I liked Inquisition more then II, but that's just me.
But a remaster of the original would be fun. Maybe do a few touch-ups here and there (like give Sten his own class?)

@Johnny:
I liked Inquisition more then II, but that's just me.
Most people did, but Open World Inquisition is just too long to play through twice if you're doing all the things.
Meanwhile I played through part 2 twice in a single month.
FUUUUUUCCCK. Dammit, get with it Bioware.

Don’t know why you’re so upset at least you know this game is coming eventually us Jade Empire fans are over here wondering when our time is coming:ninja:

It doesn't matter if it comes eventually if it sucks when it does.
Like Dragon Age 2?
I actually really liked Dragon Age 2. You could tell it was rushed and on a budget, but I liked it. Platted it in about a month which required two playthroughs.
Varric's raw charisma played a large part in that though.
At the very least, I feel like I would have rather had like 2-3 Dragon Age 2's in the time it's taken to get to Dragon Age 4.
Yeah, absolutely. Put a subtitle on em if you don't want them to be considered a main story bit but… something to keep the world and characters and combat alive.
It's been a decade. I loved it but its lost all momentum for me and I'm unlikely to replay the old ones without a Legendary style remastering.
I wouldn't say DA2 was bad, now admittedly the weakest of the three, true, but not really a bad game.
Like one thing I would have changed was where your companions still have their own unique armor set, they can equip pieces of regular armor.
DA2 was fine, it just was a letdown after the amazingness that is DAO.
If they haven't gotten the game ready by now couldn't they, I dunno, release a novel or something?
Technically, we have had comics and books released since than.

I bought Hard in Hightown!
I was incredibly disappointed to find out that it was only a novella and basically copy pasted from the already existing in-game files.
So, on the subject of DA4, we know…
**That it's to be set in the Tevinter Imperium.
**It's capital, Minrathous, is in, and it's a unique cyperpunk/magitek kind of place.
**Solas is trying to destroy the Veil and restore the Elven people to their former glory. However, doing so might kill everything else.
**He also has the Red Lyrium Idol (the one and same from DA2)
**After the events of Tresspasser, the Qun are now preparing for war with the rest of Thedas.
**Those gosh darn Darkspawn are up to no good, as per usual.
**The Hero of the game is a brand new character.
**The Inquisition, disbanded or not, wants to investigate into Tevinter, following after Solas.
And some mysteries still remaining to be answered
**The Descent showed us that lyrium is the blood of utterly gigantic underground beings called Titans. And one titan had a clan of Dwarves that could use magic.
**There is a mysterious group called "The Executors" who apparently come from across the known seas. What do they want? And are they some mysterious new race?
Anything I missed?
The main character is also apparently something of a hooligan/back alley guy, not a grand Hero/Champion/Inquisitor.
If you can choose the race of your Hero, it's gonna be pretty rough for them, no matter who you choose unless you're like a Human Mage. Since the Vints keep Elves as slaves and hate the Qunari.
Maybe a Dwarf would be treated somewhat decently?
Oh you guys… Don't give me hope. All this discussion regarding DA4 makes me go back to play Origins...
So apparently today is Dragon Age Day:

And they decided to throw us a chicken bone with two little short stories:

One about Wardens, and the other apparently set in Tevinter!

And what's wrong with that?
And what's wrong with that?
Besides the fact that the game hasn’t aged terribly well?
Or if you’re like me and sunk a good amount of time into the game and just didn’t finish it.

horrified gasp
They should bring back the Massive Armor from Origins. Be a small, walking fortress.
And what's wrong with that?
Before DA:O, the concept of a story driven game was alien to me. I used to think all video games were braindead Roadrash or NFS-2 types. When I actually started playing through DA:O, I was blown away by the companions, romance, choice driven story, strategic combat etc. I'm just terrified that we won't get a proper closure to the storylines introduced throughout DA:O, 2 and Inquisition given how chaotic it has been for BioWare post DA:I. Don't want to give myself false hope. Don't want to go through the six stages of grief.
So apparently today is Dragon Age Day:

The second story seems to indicate DA4 will take place at least 8 years after Inquisition which will line up with about the real amount of time between releases.
Is that counting Inquisition's 3 years later epilogue? Either way it doesn't matter much I guess.
Moving it out by a decade is a convenient way to soft reset any ongoing plotlines old secondary characters or story choices you may have once made. Kirkwall already pushed the story down by like 9 years so the events of the first game are way in the past now.
"Did you save the werewolves or the elves in DA1? Doesn't matter, it's twenty years later, and they're dead anyway!"
"Who did you choose to rule Orzimar? It doesn't matter, the baddies attacked and killed them, and there's a new third ruler!"
"Did you have a kid with Morrigan? Well they either don't exist or they're 18 now and don't need to be around Morrigan anymore."
With that much time passed, it also feels like we should start seeing some of the wardens from Origins/Awakening going on their Calling.
Don't take my Alistair away!
Don't take my Alistair away!
He's already dead or a drunk in at least half of my files.
I liked the guy but he was such a twerp about letting Logain into the team.
I mean to be pretty fair Lohgain shouldn’t be on the team.
I put that traitorous asshole to the blade.
There are about several scenarios for Alistair to have died at this point between execution, dying to the archdemon, and dying to Nightmare.
Speaking of which, I remember people talking about having Hawke stay behind because they definitely wouldn't die when it'll now have been at least 8 years since.
I mean to be pretty fair Lohgain shouldn’t be on the team.
I put that traitorous asshole to the blade.
Him getting recruited seems like pretty standard Grey Warden business. It's also a pretty common 'villain joins party' scenario with I think his writer, Mary Kirby, even comparing it to Magus in Chrono Trigger.
Alistair being upset about Loghain joining makes sense since he still killed Alistair's father/mentor figure and is now basically being asked to call Loghain a brother even if storming of is a bad & selfish decision with the Blight going on (admittedly, he didn't know either that Grey Wardens were explicitly needed at this point).
He's already dead or a drunk in at least half of my files.

That's your opinion. The DA fangirl base has very different opinions.
I mean to be pretty fair Lohgain shouldn’t be on the team.
I put that traitorous asshole to the blade.
I accidentally killed him my first time through because Shale just… wrecked him. I didn't even get the option for choosing what to do to him after, he just DIED.
But my next run through I was playing a self-interested blood mage and pulled him onto the team and he was super compelling and interesting once you had him, and he went to great lengths to make up for his wrongdoings. He had a ton of depth and development considering there's basically only one DLC mission you can take him on before the endgame.
I didn’t know you could kill him without the option of executing or sparing him.
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to, so it sounds like a bug….other than Alistair automatically killing him if he's the representative.
I have never once spared Loghain.
Since no one had mentioned it… THIS popped up at the Game Awards.
It's not a Bioware game, but it is LOADED with alumini that have left the company. KotoR, DA, ME...
Nightingale is the debut game from Inflexion Games, the new studio from ex-BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn. Revealed during The Game Awards on Thursday, Nightingale was revealed as a shared-world survival and crafting game set in a magical “Victorian gaslamp fantasy” world. That means terrifying monsters, like giants and eldritch beasts, that can be battled with era-appropriate weapons and arcane technology. And players will do it all while wearing the fanciest of frocks.
The new game, coming to PC in early access in 2022, is being created by veterans of Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. “From the beginning, we knew we wanted to build an intricate fantasy setting as rich and full of history and life as anything we’ve worked on in the past,” Inflexion CEO Aaryn Flynn said in a statement. “The realms of Nightingale are vast and have many secrets to uncover, and we cannot wait for players to start discovering them.”
Nightingale will cast players as a Realmwalker, survivors of a “magical cataclysm.” Players will explore a variety of dangerous realms, accessible by portals, as they search for the last bastion of humanity, the titular city of Nightingale. Realmwalkers will be able to team up and cooperate with other players to gather materials and construct massive settlements, and build tools and weapons to battle monsters. They’ll also contend with the Fae, described as “humanity’s magical rivals.”
The debut trailer for Nightingale offers a cinematic glimpse at Inflexion’s new world, but players will experience the game’s combat and crafting in first-person, according to a news release. Inflexion promises repeatable gameplay, shared worlds where players can battle solo or as a team, and a “universe of worlds to explore.”
Not sure what to make of it. It looks less like an RPG and more like an open world survival game, and in first person at that, which I'm just not a big fan of.
I'm not big into first-person at all, but combining "Victorian Gaslamp Fantasy" with "Veterans of ME, DA, and Star Wars: KOR" is extremely alluring. So let's keep watch.

On DA4 - Blueprint is ready and more info will be out later this year through blogposts. Christian Dailey joins the list of veteran BioWare lead developers who have left the company. He took over the project once Mark Darrah left in 2020.
Pattern is very similar to Anthem which is not good.
The optimist part of me says taking more time to work on it means it will be better.
But the pessimist in me says that's because they don't know what they are doing.
I always cringe when another veteran leaves.
It's been EIGHT YEARS since DA:I and they're still on the blueprint? Oii.
Like I have hopes for the game to be good, obviously… but it'll have been more than a decade since the previous outing. Which ended on a cliffhanger mind you.
No game can live up to that kind of buildup.
It was about 5 years between Horizon and Horizon 2 and that's apparently turned out well... but it would have been only 3 or 4 without Covid.
So, uh, I guess Bioware is trying to get closer to its community:
https://blog.bioware.com/2022/04/13/bioware-community-update-1/
I will say, that Grey Warden cosplay is FABULOUS.
Given the last 5-6 years, I will only believe it when the game is out and is good.
I really really hope it does!
Dear lord please be good.
Or if not please make for a very informative and enjoyable read on Kotaku or Bloomberg news about how the game went to shit.
For comparison, Dragon Age: Inquisition hit alpha just seven months before launch. Anthem hit Alpha just 5 months before launch. And if I remember correctly, ME Legendary Edition hit alpha in December 2020 and launched May 2021.
We of course now know those were under crunch conditions and they hopefully don't do that again... (and ME was only a remake) but it means we might just have the thing by this time next year.
Please be good.
I'm fine with waiting a year if it needs that long. Just PLEASE don't fuck up.
